SHINAKO's SparkPeople Blog SHINAKO's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community March 31st report Trying to stay awake to type this out, so apologies if there are some incoherent things. Diet- did good until dinner. My aunt invited us out to a local restaurant that she likes, and we hadn't seen her in a while, so I said sure. The problem with that restaurant is that they are not well known for small portions...and I didn't really look for the healthiest item on the menu. I only managed about half of the burger. I tried tracking it, but I think I'm missing something. Exercise- none... Thu, 31 Mar 2016 22:36:26 EST March 30th I really need to update my main page! I'll wait until I've got a few moments on the PC for that. Onto the report! Diet- did pretty good if I do say so myself. Stuck with a breakfast, lunch, dinner set for the most part, although I did snag 1 piece of a pretzel and a baby carrot for a snack. I don't recall feeling very hungry at any point today either. Fitness- I did so-so. Exercise today was mostly strength training, so it's not well recorded on the fitbit. Still, I feel like I coul... Wed, 30 Mar 2016 22:16:08 EST A late March 29th report It really doesn't help with blogging if I leave the phone on the charger before my planned blogging time! So, here's the quick rundown: Diet, good. I left a bag of pretzels on the counter though, which led to unplanned snacking, otherwise I did good. Oh, I almost forgot that I had some peanut m&Ms as a post dinner snack, just a handful, like 5-6... It's notable because... Apparently, m&Ms aren't in the search feature here, at least on the mobile sore Fitness, good. I walked in the morn... Wed, 30 Mar 2016 17:16:18 EST March 28 report Hi folks, not a bad day overall. Very sore though. Let's get to the report! Diet- not bad. Managed to get fruits or vegetables in each main meal. Almost had a banana for a snack, but it had already gone bad. :( Dinner was homemade general tsos chicken. Not very healthy, but probably better than take out. I did hold off on a snack today after the banana situation, which was not wise I was shaking while making dinner, so I had to reach for an emergency pretzel snack to get the energy ... Mon, 28 Mar 2016 22:14:21 EST Starting over March 28th 2016 I've already done a whole blog about this but unfortunately the mobile phone Gods decided to crash the app before I posted it so, I'm going to try to do this again but make it brief. Over the past few years I gained back all the weight that I've lost and then some. I haven't weighed myself in last couple of months but looking in the mirror I don't like what I see so my new plan of action is to exercise at least 5 days a week and trying to cut out sodium and sugars and then when I start to s... Mon, 28 Mar 2016 07:39:41 EST Fitness Minutes After my kiddo went to summercamp today, I decided to do dance/Strength Training while doing laundry.

Essentially, it goes like this: I turn on some party mix music and dance as I fold and hang laundry. However, as I'm folding, I'm putting them into piles as far as where they belong. Sometimes I do Strength Training as I'm putting them down, sometimes I do it when I "empty" a spot (finish putting it away), sometimes I do both.

The kiddo left late today, I only did my ... Mon, 30 Jun 2014 18:45:23 EST 4 Days! And other updates Well, SparkFriends, I'm back for now!

Hopefully this time will be longer than last time, but I'm a bit wary of the site changes, so we'll see. (I do like the Recent feature on the Nutrition Page, though!)

I can't say I'm a fan of the new Start Page. It is functional, yes, in that it lets you track all in one place... but, it took me 4 days... FOUR. DAYS. to find where my blog link went to. I even went to the Community/Blogs page, and I didn't see the link there either... Sun, 29 Jun 2014 12:35:55 EST August 12 - Some updates - The 30 Day Shred workout on Thursday is still kicking my butt (or legs, actually) today. Though, if I'm going to be honest, I did do a leg workout on Saturday, and it's probably taking its time to heal with that.

- I did NOT exercise Friday or Sunday. I wanted to swim and exercise today, but the pool's closed, and after taking the kiddo to a park, I am completely zapped of energy. I did manage to swing for a little bit, but I don't think that really counts as exercise.
<... Mon, 12 Aug 2013 16:32:43 EST Thursday, August 8th - Meeting 30 Day Shred, Level 3 OWWWWW.

I didn't use any weights.
I modified the exercises to take it "easy" on myself.

Those exercises are KILLER!

I managed to do it all, however... but now- 13 hours later- I am really starting to feel it. Makes me wonder about tomorrow and how I'll feel then!

It's the last day of Summercamp for the kiddo, so although I told him we were walking, I might treat him by driving over instead... and take it easy on any sore muscles I may have... Thu, 8 Aug 2013 21:33:22 EST Wednesday, August 7th - Pretty Good Day Overall, today was a good day.

I got a good workout in. While it wasn't intense, it was still a pretty good calorie burn (brisk walk.)

I ate fairly decent for most of the day, very little junk food (one gummy bear.)

We saw houses, found one we really liked and contacted our Realtor about possibly making an offer on it. We're waiting to hear back from a few parties regarding that portion of the process.

Tomorrow, I need to drive kiddo to school, so... Wed, 7 Aug 2013 21:57:39 EST Tuesday, August 8th - Day in Review (Quick) Fitness:
Walk/Jog to Summercamp and back. Jogged all of the way back. Did well. Probably could have extended the jog, but with a budding headache all morning I didn't want to press my luck.

Food:
Overall pretty good. Dinner was a hamburger and chips, very nummy, but I still ended up in my range today! (I forgot to record the chips, but I know I'll be covered in range for them, too!)

Work:
Customers were pretty good overall. Had a couple of majorly ... Tue, 6 Aug 2013 22:58:52 EST (Late) Monday, August 5th - Need to Plan This blog is a little late - sorry! I sat down last night, started reading, and really didn't move again until it was near time for bed. I did remember to track my food and fitness though (although that was also later than I normally do it too.)

With school starting back up in a little over a week, I need to start making a plan for my fitness future. I won't have the added motivation of having to walk the kiddo to summer camp anymore. On the other hand, I do like running- and f... Tue, 6 Aug 2013 06:35:15 EST Sunday, August 4th - Hungry! After my reckless eating this past week, I was more cautious about what I ate today.

Woke up a bit later than normal because of a headache prompting me to stay in bed (and lo and behold, when I woke up/got out of bed the headache was almost gone!)

I had the option to maybe go to Panera for breakfast, but opted to just make bagels to go, since it'd be cheaper and just as simple (and probably just as quick.) And so, we did, and so it was just as tasty (and probably less c... Sun, 4 Aug 2013 21:03:39 EST Saturday, August 3rd - Weight Gain So, I weighed myself earlier.

I was afraid I'd gain weight, after the past week of indulging myself and lazy recording that I'd had.

I took a sneak peek about 2 hours before I was supposed to weigh in. I looked pretty average. Like I didn't lose weight, but I didn't gain any either.

After the sneak peek, I didn't eat or drink ANYTHING.

Still, the body works in mysterious ways. I'd gained 2 pounds from last week's weigh in at the same time!
... Sat, 3 Aug 2013 21:19:33 EST August 2nd - Quick Blog Nothing exciting.

Fitness:
I woke up with a migraine, so I walked instead of jogged today. Still kept my heart rate up though, so that's good. Thinking back, I think I input the wrong numbers for the burn... I'll have to doublecheck on that.

Food:
I didn't exceed my calorie limits today. I was actually under them. I'm not too concerned though, because it balances out with the rest of the week. I did make some decent choices today; banana for a snack. So... Fri, 2 Aug 2013 23:13:49 EST Thursday. August 1st - Zzz and Headaches Not a lot to say for today. Went over my calorie range, mostly because of a Root Beer Float dessert. I did jog today though (did that get input into my tracker? I'll have to doublecheck).

I've been a bit ditzy today- mostly because of the turn of the month and all the first of the month things that need to get done (switch out sponges, razors, etc... clean out old computer files.. rent.. etc.) and on top of that, I've got a headache that's either barely there or pulsing right be... Thu, 1 Aug 2013 22:10:18 EST Wednesday, July 31st - Funk I've been in a funk lately. Not necessarily a BAD one, but it's definitely not one that's been conducive to SparkPeople.

I think it's mostly because my son's been on his vacation, so hubby and I have been having more "us time." Which, includes, eating out, going out, etc. and general non-computery stuff.

Which means that I've been on SparkPeople less.

Although I do find a couple moment to record my activity, when it comes to recording my food, I get VERY res... Wed, 31 Jul 2013 20:55:08 EST Sunday, July 28th and Monday, July 29th - Review, All In One Sunday's Review:
Yesterday was what my husband calls a Lazy Day.
We didn't go shopping. We didn't do dishes. I barely did laundry. Heck, he didn't even get dressed until about 5pm!

We did NOTHING all day long.

And I got restless. Still, my desire to do nothing with him oughtweighted my desire to be somewhat productive, and while I did straighten up a few things, and did move the laundry, nothing really major got done.

I wanted to go on a walk, bu... Mon, 29 Jul 2013 20:50:58 EST July 27th - Weight Loss and then.. Date Night (dun dun dun) So, today, I got on the scale to do my weekly weigh in. 180.6! Woohoo! Down a full pound from last week! (I weighed myself later just before a shower, and was even LESS.. but that one doesn't count.)

Breakfast and lunch were decent, had a minor snack.. buuuuut

Tonight was a date night.

The kiddo is going away on a trip for the next several days, and hubby and I are alone. We dropped him off at his grandparents tonight, and so- being away from home- we went... Sat, 27 Jul 2013 21:43:45 EST Friday, July 26th - Headache I got my exercise in for the day (28 Day Bootcamp, Short Cardio Sculpt).

I think I ate relatively well, except for a couple of emotional/headache eating binges. Bagel w/ peanut butter for breakfast, leftover potato soup for lunch, grilled cheese and chips for dinner.. well, maybe that one wasn't so good, but the bread was wheat!

When my headache struck, I was able to manage most of it, and had an apple for my midday snack.. but then there were some work stressors due to... Fri, 26 Jul 2013 21:58:24 EST Thursday, July 25th - Ups and Downs Today's blog was originally going to be titled "You can go ALL THE WAY."

But that was when I was writing it in my head this morning.

Then, work started.. and I got a text from my husband.. and most recently, got a phone call from my in-laws.

So, today's a day of ups and downs.

The Ups First:
- I was able to run/jog the full stretch between two major roads on my way home (~.7 mi), so I decided to add an extra bit of distance in and take a littl... Thu, 25 Jul 2013 19:33:46 EST Wednesday, July 24th - Am I Really Getting Old? Man, this blog's been a few days coming, but I just didn't want to share any of this!

I feel like I'm showing the physical signs of age!

No gray hairs (yet... that I can see) but there are other things going on!

- My wrist has been bugging me off and on when I do certain motions. I can type and work just fine, but when I bend it to, say, push off the blankets in the morning, or put on the seat belt- then it becomes a bit of a problem.
- My jaw's been sor... Wed, 24 Jul 2013 20:12:47 EST Tuesday, July 23rd - Day in Review My day started off kind of in a funk, as my status says. I woke up pretty neutral, ready to go ahead and walk into the day and handle whatever it threw at me.

Well, I wasn't expecting what it threw at me.

The kiddo went to open a new box of Capri Sun and wasn't having any luck doing it with the perforations, so he grabbed a pair of scissors... ...we had juice on the floor, counter, and all over my shirt. And this is my last clean exercise shirt. (I made him pull his l... Tue, 23 Jul 2013 23:22:43 EST Monday, July 22nd - Wow, only Monday? For some reason, I keep thinking today's Tuesday.

Ah well, no matter.

I don't have a whole lot to say today.

Exercise was well. Another light jog, 33 minutes and ~235 calories burned.

Food is okay, too.
- Breakfast was an egg w/ ham and cheese on a small flour tortilla.
- Lunch was leftover spaghetti with curry sauce. (Veggie heavy!)
- Dinner was leftover potato soup (starch heavy, meep!)
All meals had a coffee drink with ... Mon, 22 Jul 2013 21:35:22 EST Sunday, July 21st - Yummy new recipe Tonight I made a yummy new recipe. It even came from SparkRecipes!

Baked Potato Soup:

e-detail.asp?recipe=674260

According to the nutrition label, it's about 230 calories, and that's WITH the bacon and shredded cheddar cheese!

I used my immersion blender to give it a creamy texture, and boy- do the onions and celery come through to give it a rich, nuanced flavor. Some people (like my husband) may want ... Sun, 21 Jul 2013 20:53:43 EST Saturday, July 20th - Fitness Change No, I'm not changing up my fitness routine, not really anyway.

Today, though, I did lose a pound (woohoo!) and, because my actual calories burned has been consistantly higher than my predicted calories burned for the past few weeks, I've gone ahead changed my predicted calories burned to be from 1100 (up from just 600.)

If I can make 1100 calories burn while I have "lazy" days like this past Tuesday, and the Monday from the week before that, I can easily make the 1100... Sat, 20 Jul 2013 16:14:18 EST Friday, July 19th - Evening Post! I almost forgot to blog! I was dressed for bed, brushing my teeth, when I remembered.

So, I'm typing this without any glasses on or contacts in, so please don't mind any typos.

Fitness Today was Strength tRaining - Had to drive the kiddo to summercamp, so no walking. Got 30 minutes of squats, lunges, incline pushups, and other floor exercises in. About 240 calories burned, woohoo!

Foodwise Today I was okay. Peanut butter toast for breakfast, leftover spagh... Fri, 19 Jul 2013 23:32:00 EST Thursday, July 18th - Fitness Thoughts Today I stayed in my "range" all the way home! I did a granny jog, where my feet were more or less staying by each other, just moving forward half a me-foot whenever they were picked up, and there was definitely bouncing as I moved.

If I tried to elongate my stride, one foot directly in front of the other, my HRM would go up! The highest it went was 157, which is in the "range" pre-set by the watch, but my highest should be 154 (for Interval Training.. for Jogging, it's even LESS... Thu, 18 Jul 2013 20:29:13 EST Wednesday, July 17th - Television Inspiration i'm not sure why, but when I watch certain television shows- mostly all the shows I've been watching this summer- I get a kick in the butt and want to get up and exercise, or try something new.

Here's my Summer Television Inspiration:

"Food Network Star"
- 1) Those woman can cook and look darn good! They must a) know how to eat properly, and b) exercise at some point in time!
- 2) Some of those foods, although cooked in about 60 minutes or less... look SO deca... Wed, 17 Jul 2013 22:46:58 EST Tuesday, July 16th - Fairly Uneventful Day And when I mean uneventful, I mean downright sedentary.

I think, no, I KNOW, it started off with me in bed this morning. My stomach wasn't agreeing with me and I really, really didn't want my day to start- but not in a "Gimme some coffee" kind of way.

Of course, I tried to truck on.

Kiddo's summercamp had a PJs themed day today, so the kiddo convinced me to drive him to summercamp, instead of walking like we normally do (He really didn't need to do a whole ... Tue, 16 Jul 2013 22:47:01 EST Monday, July 15th - Final Goal Reward Over time, when thinking about goal setting, I never really thought about rewards. Oh sure, a new outfit here, a date night with the husband there... but I never really put much stock into them because, really, they were things that, more than likely, I could get at any time.

Today, I have decided on my reward for when I reach my goal range of 120-140 lbs (preferably being 130 or so!)

I want to renew my vows with my husband.

Let's do a quick rewind:
The ... Mon, 15 Jul 2013 20:00:09 EST Sunday, July 14th - Busy Day! Woo!

What a day!

Started off by going to Breakfast at Perkins. Maybe I should have chosen the garden veggies and eggs with hollandaise, but I did end up really enjoying the mixed berries pancakes I got- and I actually finished off the pancakes for once, which, for me, is a feat (meaning, no money wasted!)

Then, we went shopping- hit up a few stores for our groceries.

Then, we went to see Pacific Rim - Definitely a good movie to see. There's nothin... Sun, 14 Jul 2013 21:49:05 EST Saturday, July 13th - Ch-Ch-Chaaaanges~ Okay, a few changes going on.

First, effective immediately, my Weigh Ins are going to take place right after work on Saturdays (approx. 1:30pm). It'll probably take a few weeks to get the timing down right, but it'll help.
Why? Because I cannot reliably weigh in at the same time every Wednesday now that my husband and I have that day off. Saturdays, he is now working, and being able to do it right after work helps keep me on schedule. The only snafus I can see regarding th... Sat, 13 Jul 2013 22:36:40 EST Friday, July 12th - Quick Post, time for some Zzzs Quick Entry today.

Fitness: 25 minutes on the work treadmill
Food: Not great, could have been better (forgot to log dinner, but I'll do that tomorrow. Two corn dogs w/ ketchup and a coffee drink. Dessert was watermelon.)

Overall, not a bad day. For some reason my eyes are sore though, so I've got my glasses on instead of my contacts. And now its bedtime.

Good night! Fri, 12 Jul 2013 22:17:20 EST Thursday, July 11th - How do you treat yourself? I heard a commercial on the radio the other day. It was a car/car oil commercial, and in it, the "host" was asking people who they took better care of- their cars or themselves?

Now, granted, it was a car/car oil commercial, so people would almost unanimously say they take better care of their cars than themselves.

And it got me sad. Not necessarily because these people were unhealthy- they did mention they could stand to be a bit healthier.

I got sad becaus... Thu, 11 Jul 2013 21:02:40 EST Wednesday, July 10th - Itty Bitty Teeny Weenie Polka-Dot Bikini Don't ask me the rest of the lyrics, because I don't remember them, haha. But that line has been running through my head for the last several minutes. In a relatively high-pitched voice as well.

Which is kind of ironic, because I am DEFINITELY not fitting into a IBTWPDB anytime soon!

You know, for the briefest moment, when this song popped into my head, I thought of my mom. She was a skinny woman. Very skinny. And, for an even briefer moment, I was envious that I i... Wed, 10 Jul 2013 20:24:14 EST Tuesday, July 9th - Not Much! What's up with you? Allrighty, so today was..

Well, actually it wasn't average:
- Kiddo went with his aunt and he's staying the night with her tonight.
- Although I requested to get off early so I could clean house a bit (a necessity that was realized while straightening up for my sister in law,) I didn't get it - BUT, the time still flew by anyway.
- Work had many.. interesting.. issues occur, on top of the normal issues that already occur.
- Husband had to stay late at his wor... Tue, 9 Jul 2013 20:36:14 EST Monday, July 8th - Tired, but got 5 minutes in! As I mentioned yesterday, I had to go into work today.

Normally, I work from home, so I can exercise or clean house before work, and if I run out of time, I can just do work in my PJs/exercise clothes/etc. if necessary.

But, when I go to work, I have very little- if any (and today I had none!)- time to exercise before work..

And, whenever I get home from work, I just want to crawl into bed. It's simply because it's not 9:30pm yet that's the reason I'm not in... Mon, 8 Jul 2013 20:01:24 EST Sunday, July 7th - Laundry Fitness Normally I don't get much of a workout on Sundays, usually it's up, breakfast, out the door for shopping, chores, etc.
However, tomorrow I'm going to be going in to work, leaving me VERY little time for fitness, so I figured I'd do a bit of a workout today.

This is a workout I tend to do when I don't feel like I've done enough for the day, or if I just have some extra energy that needs to be released. And, as the name implies, it's done while doing laundry.
Well, foldi... Sun, 7 Jul 2013 17:42:48 EST Saturday, July 6th - Let your woohoos carry you! 244
Say it. Just say it.
"Woo. Hoo."

Those two simple words are in-VIG-orating. Even a grumpy-guss Eeyore can't say those words without some sort of semblance of a smile coming onto their face. Even if someone's saying it sarcastically, the way the words come out are just a breath of fresh air.

I dare you to try saying Woo Hoo, in a downbeat fashion, and let the words truly reflect any negative emotion you've got!

Now, try saying thos... Sat, 6 Jul 2013 21:25:24 EST Friday, July 5th - My day in brief Well, my son apparently lost his flip-flop at summer camp the other day, and now he can't find his water bottle. Oy vey.

So, instead of walking over to the camp and back, we drove, so I could A) have time to find the items he lost (we only found the flip-flop), and B) carry it back home with me. I didn't feel like having a flip flop in my hands as I tried jogging home. Granted, it wouldn't have been anything BAD- but it would've made it awkward to check my watch from time to ti... Fri, 5 Jul 2013 19:54:32 EST Revisiting ME Hello fellow Sparksters!

I wish I could say I've been successful since my last post in May.

But, truth be told, I've been stuck at 180 for the last GOODNESS knows how long- a few months at least.

Then, the scale started moving!
After my birthday.
It went up. And, well, you know, my birthday is when I typically give myself leave to eat whatever.. and my husband certainly took me up on that. Toblerone mousse bars, devil's food dark chocolate cupcakes.... Thu, 4 Jul 2013 16:41:59 EST May 1st , New Month, New Plans Allright, so here's the lowdown.

My weight loss, if any, has been moderate lately. That's fine. I did weigh in at 180 this week, but that's probably due to me having a late(ish) breakfast. No stress there.

Where I -should- be stressing is the fact that my exercise has, more or less, taken a nose dive. I've done token things here and there- dancing while doing dishes, doing squats and wall-push-ups while waiting for dinner to cook, and doing arm exercises with weights... Wed, 1 May 2013 13:49:25 EST April 24th, The numbers! The numbers! ...The numbers? Okay, so, as many of you know, I didn't make it to the gym, or do much working out period within the last 9 days or so. I DID, however, get a bunch of calories burned by doing Spring Cleaning this past weekend. I DID, also, dine out a bit too. So, all in all, I will say I wasn't too optimistic about my weight loss today.

In the last few weigh ins, other than gaining on the first couple weeks, I've been losing a pound, or less, per week. So, the weight loss itself hasn't exac... Wed, 24 Apr 2013 15:16:33 EST April 22nd, Hmmm I haven't exercised since the 16th. Well, not REALLY exercised, anyway. This past weekend was a LOT of house cleaning, and my legs are DARING you to tell me it doesn't count!

Anyway, I am feeling a little bad since I haven't really done any exercising since then. I am a little ashamed, but I'm not going to let it hold me back!

I did intend, for example, to start anew today and go to the gym. But, then, I had a TERRIBLE night's sleep, and let myself go back to sleep f... Mon, 22 Apr 2013 19:51:42 EST April 17th, Waiting Room Yesterday, I got lazy again and slept through my first alarm, so I didn't hit the gym, nor the elliptical... but, I did do my strength training exercises (which I will ((eventually)) log.)

I didn't exercise today. I had a Dr's appointment I forgot about- oops! And a headache, but I'm not talking about that.

Today at the Dr's office, it was very busy. My personal reason for being there wasn't a lengthy one- just a simple injection- so I'm usually seen in between schedu... Wed, 17 Apr 2013 16:30:43 EST April 15th, Bummed Today's many things:
- Tax Deadline
- FCAT Start
- New episode of Castle
- The night where hubby and I was last night's Game of Thrones

But there was ONE THING I wanted to get done today. ONE THING.

And that was to try my running endurance on the treadmill.

Of course, I went to the gym bright and early, at 5:45, get the TV turned on, hop onto the treadmill and hit Quick Start "Error". I hit one of the modes, thinking it may be a ... Mon, 15 Apr 2013 20:50:46 EST Sunday, April 14th Yesterday, for fitness, I went to the zoo with my boys. It wasn't anything exerting, but I did get plenty of walking in, and that's definitely better than sitting on my tuckus for any length of time!

Today, I didn't really do anything. I woke up, had breakfast, and did my morning errands. I expected to do my fitness (jumping jacks, etc.) after coming back home, but circumstances beyond my control happened, and as a result, well..
