Wed, 24 Mar 2010 13:59:42 EST wow...I'm a beast! lol http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3010675 I did my 45 min program on the elliptical and then jogged for a while (okay, a LONG while..lol) when it was done. I did much better on the program than I did monday. I took less recovery time; and only went slower than the program wanted me to at certain intervals, instead of having to slow down just because I couldn't keep up. That makes me proud. Maybe I just knew better what to expect this time...maybe I'm actually improving... either way, I'm happy about it! :) I didn't wanna completely d... Wed, 17 Mar 2010 11:10:19 EST 03/15 workout http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3000688 Today's workout was a doozy! I got started and was just going to run, but 5 minutes in (about 3/4 of mile - I wasn't very focused!) and decided to do the interval program on the elliptical that I used before. It's 45 minutes alternating high resistance and slower pace with faster paces at lower resistance. It's a pretty good program. I learned that I am NO WHERE near where I want to be physically!! I just wanted to get through it. I couldn't stay at the pace it wanted me to for the whole thin... Mon, 15 Mar 2010 07:25:35 EST blogging http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2976799 I just spent the last hour or so reading through all of my old blogs (from when I sucessfully lost almost 30 lbs)...and it is truly motivating! Not just the story and seeing the progress, but blogging itself is motivating. When I wasn't writing, I wasn't losing! Taaa Daaa....there's a connection! lol :) So, expect to see a lot more from me in the near future! :) Tue, 9 Mar 2010 08:24:44 EST intensity vs time spent http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2976565 OMG - I think I'm gonna keel over! I really pushed myself on the elliptical and added some little 2lb dumbbells for part of it...in intervals like I was climbing a ladder with them....when I thought I couldn't do anymore, I'd push out 15 more seconds..... and I did some high resistance intervals along with some faster paced intervals (7.5 mph - remember it's an elliptical not a treadmill ;) and I didn't sustain it for more than 2 minutes)...for a total of 50 minutes and 550 calories, and abou... Tue, 9 Mar 2010 07:09:31 EST Here We Go Again.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2685305 Okay....I hate the thought of starting something new just because it's New Years...and when you read that 80% of Americans make New Year's resolutions, and only 20% of them keep them, it's depressing and irritating...like we're setting ourselves up for failure just by penning the term "new years resolution"...so I refuse to say it....Instead, I have GOALS...and PLANS on acheiving them!

We are planning a trip back home (Texas) in June...and I want to be at my target weight by then.... Sun, 3 Jan 2010 12:36:03 EST 2.8 lbs lost this week!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1138736 I am soooooo thrilled with this! Almost 3 lbs....I have not lost more than 2 in any given week. I think the big difference this week was cutting out the "bad carbs." Basically anything made with white flour or sugar I tried to avoid. I didn't do any extra workouts or anything. So, there really must be something to eating the right carbs. I'm happy and super motivated to continue eating right. I did have a few drinks Friday night...which, while not technically carbs, the calories are just as e... Sun, 13 Apr 2008 06:15:51 EST HRM vs Elliptical read out - calories burned http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1126600 Just wanted to throw an extra blog in here today about my HRM...I bought a Polar F6 heart rate monitor and LOVE it! I knew my elliptical's read out was incorrect, I just didn't know HOW off it was.

Anyone who has kept up with my blog knows that I normally adjust off 30% of the calories burned to compensate for the inaccurate reading....but, as I look over my numbers from the last few workouts using the heart rate monitor, I've realized that on some days it can be as much as 40% of... Mon, 7 Apr 2008 17:33:19 EST Gooooooood Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1126586 Got in most of my water :)

Great workout :) I did 64 minutes on the elliptical. Got in 5 miles in under 49 minutes, and then did another mile + some in the remaining 15 minutes to cool down – and to get my calorie total where I wanted it ;) Burned 772 calories according to my hrm….I continued to let my monitor run and count the calories until my heart rate lowered back down to my normal rate.

Good food choices. I had to force myself to get my calories into the 4 digits... Mon, 7 Apr 2008 17:24:40 EST Calorie deficit/run stats http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1068467 I want to start off tonight by saying that if my calculations are correct, I created a 1056 calorie deficit today. That should equate to almost 1/3 of a pound.

Wanna know how I got that number? if not skip to the next paragraph...lol My BMR (basal metabolic rate) is 1478. That's what my body uses each day just to be me....I could eat that number of calories and not gain. And I burned 843 calories (adjusted down from the 1205 my machine said I burned) on the elliptical. So, that's ... Tue, 11 Mar 2008 16:50:00 EST Wii Boxing/Elliptical Stats http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1065971 I haven't blogged in a few days. Thought I'd report my stats from yesterday and today. I didn't run yesterday, but I did play Wii Boxing for about 25 minutes....it was pretty intense. My shoulders and my back are sooooooo sore today! It's awesome! lol

Today I ran on the elliptical..here's the stats

3 miles
35 minutes
400 adjusted calories

I wanted to at least do something, but didnt have time for my full hour because my kids needed dinner. Mon, 10 Mar 2008 15:39:52 EST I'm a female Forrest Gump! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1052013 "I was run-ning" LMAO

I ran my ass off today!!! I kept the ellipitcal on level 4 and 5 (out of 10). I was doing 6.5 mph on level 4 and 6 mph on level 5....but, that required more "recovery time" after a few minutes which killed my average....okay, so not killed...lol My average was 5.67 mph. I'd like to see that stay at 6......**BUT**..... it did allow me to burn more calories than just keeping one constant pace...which is really important to the weight loss goals....so all in all... Tue, 4 Mar 2008 06:31:21 EST Higher resistance today/FTS issues...lol http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1049414 I ran on the elliptical today at a higher resistance than I have been. I had been keeping it on level 4 (out of 10), but today decided to do level 5. It was a little harder..but more than that, it was harder to keep my momentum going. I don't know if my mind just wasn't in it, or if it was because of the higher resistance, but I kept slowing down. I think it was more of a mental thing because I'd do it w/out thinking....not like I was slowing down cuz it was too hard.

Oh - well, th... Mon, 3 Mar 2008 06:19:23 EST run stats http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1043421 Didn't run yesterday cuz....well, just cuz...lol I almost got on last night after the kids went to bed, but decided to get some rest and just get up this morning before the kids got up to do it. And surprisingly, I DID IT!! lol If you know me, you know I'm not a morning person...so this is HUGE for me! LOL

Pushing through was a little difficult. Fri, 29 Feb 2008 02:22:10 EST Todays Workout http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1038701 Ran for a long time today. I had a lot on my mind. I was trying to stay busy enough not to think about it. Didn't work at first..the first 10 minutes were hard, but after I changed my music to something that "gets in my head" more, I did much better.

67 minutes
750 adjusted calories
3555 rotations or a little over 6 miles

Now I'm sad the run is over :(

Wed, 27 Feb 2008 08:23:29 EST 2lbs lost this week http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1031998 I weighed in this morning and have lost 2lbs! WoooooHooooo Happy dance! I realize a lot of people lose more than this in a week, but i'm really happy with this. I had been in denial about those 9 lbs I gained back since October and once I finally admitted it and recorded the higher weight, I was able to focus on losing it.

I've not done the elliptical in 2 days....but I have been active with my kids, and I feel that is JUST as important! I had to find out how far I was going...it was driving me crazy! (not a far trip for me really...lol) Now, I'm glad I did!!! My calculations from yesterday were grossly wrong!!!! THANK GOD!! Fri, 22 Feb 2008 07:48:11 EST calculating distance on my elliptical http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1025705 Okay, I'm having a hard time with this. My elliptical is a ProForm 690HR. It's a European model, I believe. It does not calculate miles, just rotations. I want to know how this translates to miles.

What I don't know.....
the exact stride length of the machine
whether it counts each step for each foot, or if each rotation counted is actually 2 steps (one for my left foot and one for my right foot - as one full turn of the wheel actually moves EACH foot a full turn also). ... He’s been working out a lot lately even though I haven’t. So he’s pulling the motivation from somewhere! LOL

Anyway, I got up this morning with the intention of running after my son left for school…but w/out thinking, I made oatmeal for us all (using splenda, not sugar and light butter) and sat ... Thu, 21 Feb 2008 13:41:32 EST Goals Revisited http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1023304 I realized that I was not as specific as I should have been when setting my goals. I have played with the numbers and have decided that I will be 135 by June 1st. That gives me almost 15 weeks to drop 23 lbs. That’s a touch over 1.5 pounds a week. I can sooo do that! Especially once I start running regularly again. The first 25 lbs I dropped was in about 15 weeks….so this should be right on track with that.

I re-entered my current weight (adding my 9lbs that I have gained since Se... Here's the stats:

62 minutes
1006 calories
3230 rotations

Pretty good workout. I also got in some weight training. But, today, I realized, that scent means acomplishment!

I have truly been a slacker the last two weeks! Today, I decided to change that! I was seconds away from getting into the shower, and thought, "I'm already undressed, wouldn't be that hard to put on my workout clothes and get in a decent run." So, I did it....after about 10 minutes, I noticed that I was sweating and that it was a scent that I had forg... I was hoping to get on the elliptical and get in my workout before the girls got up...but, before I was even done brushing my teeth, both of them were up, as was my son, but that's no shock...lol I got aggravated. I did my 45-minute interval program, but I didn't give my all. I just wanted to basically get through it. Last time I pushed a little too hard and felt sick. I didn't want that to happen again...so I just wanted to ease my way back up. I broke a sweat, and felt good when i was done, so i consider it a sucess...I was sooooo happy when i was done! I went home to Texas for 2 weeks, and then the following week, I was just focusing on spending time with my husband before he left for Iraq.

I did a lot of emotional eating, without even realizing it. For the last week and a half, I've been busting my butt on my workouts, and keeping w/in my calorie range (possibly too low at times, but it all evens out weekly) and I have GAINED a pound a half this week!!!! WTH? I'll know on Saturday how my measurements look (I may steal a look sooner, but don't wanna get too pissy if they haven't changed...lol)...and as long as I'm still losing inches, I'll be okay, but i'm still just agravated.

I didn't even get on the el... Today was even worse, though...had the cake and ice cream for dessert, AND, had cheesecake earlier in the day too!! OUCH...I still managed to stay in my calorie range, but it's amazing the difference in the way I feel. I just feel a little slugish this evening. Mon, 10 Sep 2007 13:31:04 EST 5000 Calories burned this week!!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=736187 I got on the elliptical after my youngest two went down for naps this afternoon. I did my 45 minute interval program, but kept going until I hit 1000 calories, that put me at 54 minutes. I did 2670 rotations...not too shabby...might have been a little better, but I kept messing with my mp3 player and clothes....my shirt was riding up on my chest and bugging me...so it came off and ran in my sports bra....then, I was overly aware that the band on my shorts was too tight and I had a muffin top ... I ran for 57 minutes and did 2820 rotations...higher than I have in a long time...had to get my calories up to 1000 to account for the pizza (aka the devil) yesterday and for my lack of workouts last week. Did my exercises on the body ball while watching the end of a movie i started the other night, then got on the ellipitcal. Once again, it owned me...LOL I just couldn't stop. I want to see what some of my other programs are like so I started out on the 30 minute one. It was decent enough. Higher resistance through the whole thing and the speeds weren't ridiculously slow. I tried one at first that was a 20 minute program, where the resistance level didn't... Fri, 24 Aug 2007 07:35:37 EST the elliptical OWNS me! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=711262 I almost blogged earlier about my bad week...but...i decided to workout first that way i could end my blog on an up-note! hehe First, the bad news...I went over my caloric range several times this past week. I also skipped 2 days between workouts. Seems I got somewhat of a big head after my 15 lb/15 inch victory. I have yet to see 159 again on the scale. I also believe that aunt flow is jacking with my numbers some too....that could also account for some of the added muchies last week!
... Tue, 21 Aug 2007 14:48:28 EST 15 pounds/ 15 inches http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=706400 Today was a weigh-in and measurement day for me. I'm soooo happy! 15 pounds and 15.25 inches lost! I'm finally under 160! I'm estatic! It's great motivation to continue what I'm doing! Whooooo Hooooo, time to get on the elliptical! Sat, 18 Aug 2007 03:54:00 EST happy medium found http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=701771 I had a good cardio workout today...possibly, I'll add some strength training in later. I burned 100 more calories today than I did yesterday. Yesterday, I was just kinda goofing around.."dancing" and letting my mind wonder into lala land instead of focusing on my intervals and speed. It was fun though! lol
Wed, 15 Aug 2007 06:03:36 EST still tracking http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=700096 It seems Saturday (before my 2800 calorie day - thanks to rum) was an off day to weigh myself. I cheated and checked again today. i'm still down my 2 lbs for the week....just thought i'd blog about it...yaaaaaaaay Tue, 14 Aug 2007 02:57:58 EST Progress http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=698398 Yeah, I know, 2 blogs in one day...but I wanted different subjects on them..hehehe

I am really happy with the progress I've made thus far (another bit of motivation to get back on track after a poor week). In the past, my husband was told frequently that his wife was hot...lol I missed that! Saturday, though, he got that comment again!!! Whooooo Hoooooo! Working my way back to trophy wife status! hahaha He also commented to me the other day that he was proud of me and the amount of... Mon, 13 Aug 2007 07:22:13 EST Back on Track http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=698385 I kinda let things go last week. I only ran 3 times. I also allowed myself a little (ok, big) indulgence Saturday at our birthday bbq (mine and my neighbor's bday was friday, a neighbor girl was sat, and hubby's is today - so we just did one big party with the whole building and some people from dh's work). My calorie count was high, but expected. I knew I was gonna over do a little with the foods that were available...no biggie...what I did not realize was the amount of calories in alcohol!!... Mon, 13 Aug 2007 07:10:32 EST 2 days missed Cardio http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=693015 I was a bad girl (why do I keep finding myself saying that? LOL). I skipped two days of cardio...for shame, for shame! I did just get off the elliptical today though! Goooo Meeeee!!!! hehehe Today's stats....

55 minutes
900 adj cals
2650 rotations

Today, I kinda split my 45 minute program. To understand what I'm talking about, keep in mind that my 45 minute interval program, is split up in two-minute segments. I went strong for 3 minutes and rested for 1 minute...
