Thu, 17 Apr 2014 08:19:06 EST Aaaannnnddd...NOT so good results this week http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5658096 This is my second week of really tracking my food on my fitness pal, and I guess I did some experimenting this week. I was feeling constantly hungry even though I was eating back all my exercise calories and extra calories for breastfeeding, so I decided to change my activity level from "sedentary" to "lightly active" since I'm home with my baby and feel like I'm up and down the stairs and moving around, picking her up, etc. all day. Well, at the end of the week, I really regretted doing that... Thu, 27 Mar 2014 20:30:47 EST Weekly Results- better this week! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5652147 I was very excited to do my weight and measurements this week because I really started getting serious about tracking my food since Sunday. I use My Fitness Pal and put everything I eat in and exercise as well. I'm still breastfeeding exclusively, so I set it to 1850 calories a day, and if I work out I can eat those calories back. I felt very hungry this week on this amount, so I know I was eating way more than that before.

This week I lost 1.4lbs, 0.3% body fat, 0.4% muscle, 0.25... Thu, 20 Mar 2014 07:21:31 EST Gettin down to baby weight-loss business! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5649666 So far I have lost the first 37 lbs of my baby weight with minimal effort- simply trying to make healthy choices, work out when I can, and be as active at home as possible, including walking the dog everyday. My weight loss has been pretty slow and I really want to lose the rest of the weight (13 lbs) before I go back to work on May 1, so I don't have to worry about it anymore and so I can wear my regular clothes again.

I decided to cut calories and start tracking again in my fitne... Mon, 17 Mar 2014 07:33:52 EST Oil Cleansing Method and Weekly Results http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5646737 My skin has been so messed up since having my baby almost 5 months ago, that I have tried almost everything to clear up the acne and get it looking like normal again. All the acne products I was using from the spa ($$$!) were not working, so I decided to try the oil cleansing method. Just google it and you'll get tons of info on how to do it. I used a combination of avocado, jojoba, lavendar essential oil, some vitamin E oil, and tamanu oil. I did it for about 2 weeks twice a day and have fou... Woohoo! haha But all kidding aside, that's not very much. I wasn't expecting anything, actually, because I spent 4 days this weekend at my in-laws' where there was tons of food, wine, and desserts and I did hardly any exercise. However, when I saw my muscle and fat percentages, I can see that I lost fat but put on muscle. I've noticed that this happens during weeks when I don't watch my calories as much. I still think this is a great outcome! My body is still changin... Thu, 27 Feb 2014 08:06:19 EST Broke through my plateau! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5628988 I lost 2.2lbs this week! I also lost 1 inch off my waist (woohoo!) and .25 inches off my hips and .5 inch off below my bustline. I don't count my bust because I'm nursing and I'm sure it varies a lot with the amount of milk. My jeans are fitting better, although I still have that mommy pooch that gives me a bit of a muffin top, so I can wear them now but only with loose tops. In total now, I've lost 36 lbs since my biggest pregnancy weight (I count the actual weight of the baby because it mak... Thu, 20 Feb 2014 08:33:11 EST Weekly results and muscle gain?? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5616902 I look forward to Thursday mornings because that's when I do my weekly weigh-ins and I typically see some kind of improvement. I have an Ozeri scale that shows weight, %muscle mass, %body fat, hydration %, and bone weight. I also take measurements around my waist, hips, and upper thigh. This week, I was disappointed to see that my weight had gone up by 1.2 lbs, but most of that seemed to be muscle, as my fat % stayed about the same, but my muscle % increased almost 1%! When I did the math, th... Thu, 6 Feb 2014 12:37:39 EST gaining and losing the same 2 lbs http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5613936 I step on the scale everyday. I just find it keeps me more accountable for what I'm eating and how much I exercise. If I eat junk on one day and don't exercise, I see an immediate change on the scale to reflect that. But for the last 3 weeks my weight has just been hovering around 170-172 lbs. I still need to lose at least 10-15 lbs after having my baby and it is really discouraging not to see a change. I am still committed to being consistent even though I'm not seeing a change on the scale,... Mon, 3 Feb 2014 11:32:03 EST Adventures in Juicing- A cautionary tale! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5613254 I have only ever heard amazing things about juicing and the benefits it can have for your health. After trying some juice out at the farmer's market, we decided to take the plunge and buy our own compact juicer to be a bit healthier ourselves. Yesterday we made our first juice- a mix of beets, carrots, celery, and apple. Today we did beets, carrots, parsnip, and apple. I was super thirsty when I woke up, so I drank a glass of water, and as soon as the juice was ready, I drank mine in about 5 ... Sun, 2 Feb 2014 17:42:33 EST got a juicer!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5612428 I'm so excited that we got a new juicer last night. My DH and I bought some fresh juice at the farmer's market last weekend and loved it, so we decided we could do it everyday and bought our own juicer. It will definitely save us money too, since we paid like $7 for the juice at the market! Today we made a mix of carrot, beet, celery, and apple juice and it was DELISH! I don't really agree with the whole idea of juice fasting or anything, but I think it's a great way to get some extra nutrien... Sat, 1 Feb 2014 20:15:23 EST Confusion about EBF and weight loss http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5611122 I have been scouring the internet for info on how to safely lose weight while breastfeeding. The best resource is the babyfit website where one expert provides advice about eating a TON in order to lose weight while breastfeeding. There is so little out there, that I can't find anything that agrees with this expert's opinion so I can't be sure it's accurate. I definitely don't count calories or really restrict what I eat, but I do just try to eat healthy and there is a chance I'm not eating e... Fri, 31 Jan 2014 12:00:25 EST January Weight Loss Results http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5609939 Hi Folks! It's been a loooong time since I posted, which has been due to being pregnant and having a baby this past year. My beautiful Evelyn was born this October and I have been slowly trying to reach my pre pregnancy weight again, which was 155lbs. I gained a LOT of weight when I was pregnant- I went all the way up to 205!!! If I could go back and tell myself anything, it would be to NOT let myself eat whatever I wanted and to still be healthy for my growing baby. She is very healthy, luck... Thu, 30 Jan 2014 08:14:24 EST Advice to kick-start weight loss again? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5154384 It has been quite a while since my last post. I have been just having a great time eating whatever I want for the past 2 months and not getting in enough high-intensity exercise. Unfortunately, "whatever I want to eat" is mostly cookies, sweets, yogurt with added sugar, cereals, and other really rich foods. It has not done well for my body whatsoever. I have gained about 4 lbs since I came back from the honeymoon. As the weight creeped up, I told myself a couple lbs could just be bloating, an... Mon, 3 Dec 2012 08:06:29 EST Got a DOG and challenge results! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5112082 Hey! It has been 14 days and I achieved 10 gym classes in that time. My goal was to do 12, but we ended up getting a dog and I feel terrible leaving her for very long in the house. Plus, I didn't think ahead enough and had to do 2 gym classes on the last 2 days each to meet my goal.

The challenge itself was too easy, even though I didnt' even achieve the challenge. I was able to do 2 classes each time I went to the gym, so I went to the gym 5 times in 10 days. Come to think of it ... Thu, 25 Oct 2012 07:25:09 EST Gym class challenge for motivation! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5096228 Since I have been having a hard time getting back into the swing of things, I thought I'd set a new challenge for myself that helps me workout regularly again and also get into some of the classes offered at my gym. They're included with my membership, but I haven't tried very many of them besides spinning. So, my new goal for the next 2 weeks is to go to 12 gym classes in the next 14 days! Most classes are 60 minutes, so that equals about 6 hrs of working out a week.

So far, the c... Fri, 12 Oct 2012 09:27:26 EST Getting back into a routine http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5093786 I'm finding it hard since I got home to get into a routine of working out everyday without all the pressure I tend to put on myself. I have a bit of an all-or-nothing mindset, and if I'm not working out for 2 hrs a day, then it tends to be about 20 or 30 minutes a day. This is just enough to keep me feeling like I did something without taking up too much time and allowing me to spend more time on other important things. However, the 30 minutes a day recently has been really low-intensity exer... Wed, 10 Oct 2012 09:57:46 EST New married life, new goals, new mindset! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5087618 I have been thinking recently about how hard I was on myself before my wedding. I wanted everything to be perfect according to my own harsh standards- the wedding, the reception, my dress, my body, my speech- everything! It caused me a lot of stress and anxiety and prevented me from enjoying all of it as much as I could have, I think (even though I still really enjoyed it!).

I have decided to take some advice from my trainer and just be a friend to myself and be kind to myself lik... Thu, 4 Oct 2012 08:19:44 EST Wedding stress is kicking in! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5047344 All of a sudden today I am feeling so nervous about the wedding. I think it might be the fact that all of the plans are starting to wrap up and its gettig into last minute plans now. Also my dress is all done and ready and the day is only 9 days away! My heart has been fluttering all day and I keep catching myself holding my breath and I'm findin it really hard to eat. I did exercise today which helped a bit, but Im worried I'm goin to be this way for the next 9 days!!!

So, to comb... Thu, 6 Sep 2012 16:19:56 EST 10 days till the wedding!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5045301 I have been keeping on track so far this week with maintenance, although not quite in the way i wanted to! I went into the city and had a weekend with family that included lots of drinking and eating. I was nervous that i was going to gain but planned to workout a lot monday and tuesday to make up for it. However, then i got the stomach flu on sunday night which was followed by 2 days of not being able to eat anything! Well, I guess it cancelled out the overeating because my measurements are ... Wed, 5 Sep 2012 09:54:09 EST What does "maintenance" mean anyway? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5037688 I think I may be misunderstanding the word "maintenance". In my mind, it means going back to the eating habits I had before losing weight, which I am learning can't be true. I have consistently eaten 2 Joe Louis' in a row for the past 3 days. Although I have tried to keep up with eating salads and fruit, I have also allowed myself to splurge on some of the worst foods- oreos, sugary cereal, and Joe Louis have been my demise over the past few days.

I don't want to undo all the good ... Thu, 30 Aug 2012 15:43:47 EST Moving into maintenance mode... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5035742 I changed my fitness pal calories to maintenance level yesterday, which for me is 1760. It's a little nerve-wracking for me, because I keep feeling like if I really try for just one more week maybe I'll finally meet my goal! But, when I look at my progress over the past few weeks, all the obsessing and calculating, and exercising has only resulted in a 1 lb loss or a 1 inch loss usually. So, I just thought- if I put myself through that for one more week, is it really worth it for that one mor... Wed, 29 Aug 2012 09:05:05 EST How to survive 2.5 weeks with family?? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5034754 My dress fitting went well yesterday- she already took the dress in 2 inches and it fits pretty well now although I think she could take it in another inch or so. She said she'll see where I am in a week or so and she may take it in some more depending on if I've lost more. It's important for the laces to have some room left so they can tighten me up in the dress on the wedding day as it stretches with my body heat a little bit.

So, my plan is to keep up with my weight loss-progra... Tue, 28 Aug 2012 14:06:41 EST Second dress fitting! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5032914 I am heading to my last dress fitting today before the wedding which is now less than 2 weeks away! I have worked very hard over the past 6 weeks since my last fitting. I have also been very hard on myself- feeling extremely guilty for small setbacks and not giving myself a break at all. It has all caused me a lot of undue stress that doesnt even have to do eith wedding planning, necessarily.

I am now at the point where i cant go much further in my weight loss until after the weddi... Mon, 27 Aug 2012 10:00:56 EST Flying home today! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5028894 I'm in the airport right now getting ready to fly home for the next 3 weeks to prepare for my wedding. It was a sad goodbye when my fiance dropped me off at the airport. I will see him next weekend but after that it wont be for 2 weeks that he comes back home for the wedding.

Going home is always bittersweet. Its great to see family and friends but then theres always the point where i have to leave them again. Then theres all the extra challenges of being at home where i cant cont... Fri, 24 Aug 2012 07:25:48 EST Non-Scale Victories http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5027429 I'm at 151lbs today, so still 1.5 lbs away from reaching the 140's. Realistically, I'm not sure I'll be able to get there before my dress fitting on Monday, but I'm going to plan to do my best. Yesterday was a bit of a rough day- I hardly exercised, I got into some chocolate, and I had a snack very late at night. I was really feeling like all my effort trying to lose weight has been wasted since my weight went up yesterday and was just really discouraged.

Instead of focusing on get... Thu, 23 Aug 2012 07:29:11 EST Frustrated today...and stressed about meeting my goals on time! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5025934 I stepped on the scale today hoping to see 150 or maybe even 149.5 after staying at 150.5 for 3 days and really watching my diet. I have downscaled the exercise at the advice of my trainer, who said I may have been working my body too hard with all the insanity plus other weights training and running. So yesterday I did a hard half hour of spinning intervals with my trainer and then just went for a half hour walk with the man later on.

After all that, I step on the scale today and... Tue, 21 Aug 2012 07:39:24 EST One week until dress fitting! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5022856 I can't believe how fast this summer has gone! By Friday afternoon I'll be home at my parents' house awaiting my first dress fitting, a dozen other wedding appointments, and ultimately my wedding, without my fiance by my side. It is really sad to have to leave him for 3 weeks right before we get married, but I have a friend's wedding this weekend and there is no sense flying back here then back home again within 3 weeks, so I decided to just stay.

I'm really excited that I maintain... Mon, 20 Aug 2012 07:48:29 EST Officially a 10lb loss as of today! woohoo!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5019117 I couldn't believe it when I stepped on the scale and I FINALLY got down past the 151lbs mark. I'm 150lbs today!! I have now lost 10 lbs over the past year and I'm feeling awesome! It's 100% due to my change in diet, I'm sure. It's great to know that I don't have to work out like an animal or obsess over every calorie to lose weight. All I have to do is eat ONLY healthy, whole foods. This is definitely something I can stick with, at least for the next 10 days! In fact, all I did yesterday was... Fri, 17 Aug 2012 08:40:24 EST Made the choice to eliminate dairy http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5017979 Today I had a brutal cardio session with my trainer on the bike. I was sweating like I have never sweated before! I think I'm going to start seeing results again this week, especially because of changes in my diet.

I have really reduced my sugar and focus on lots of veggies and whole foods. I think I'm really learning that it's waaay more about the QUALITY of food you're eating than the amount of calories worth of food. Think about the difference between eating a 250 calorie choco... All out from here on! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5015597 Hey everyone,
My trainer pointed out today that I have 12 days left until my final fitting and that we need to "shred" fat before that point. She is going to switch from circuit training to primarily cardio HIIT training during our half-hour sessions and she told me to focus mostly on cardio from now on, since I have plenty of muscle and now the goal is to lose fat.

She also gave me some rules for eating:
1) no food after 7pm at night
2) only vegetables and protein ... Tue, 14 Aug 2012 19:33:13 EST GAINING weight- and a possible explanation http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5009350 Hey everyone,
I was terrified to step on the scale everyday this week and not only see the scale not going down, but to see it going up! Today I'm at my highest in the past 2 weeks despite the fact that I have been sticking to my eating and exercise plan. I have been tracking everything in MFP and exercising twice a day, which my trainer said should help me to lose quicker because I'll get after-burn twice a day instead of just once.

So, obviously it is extremely frustrating... Wed, 8 Aug 2012 08:30:20 EST Weddings and showers and reunions- Oh My! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5005275 Hey everyone!
This weekend was a bit off track for me because of going on a weekend trip to see family/attend a wedding/and attend my own bridal shower. There was lots of yummy food! It was anticipated, so I did plan for having a bit of "time off" of my wedding shape-up plan. This was a long weekend, so I just got home late last night and this will be a short week!

So how did I handle such a tempting weekend, you ask? By indulging a bit of course! (In moderation!). Friday I ma... Tue, 7 Aug 2012 15:06:53 EST Revised workout schedule http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4998185 Getting into the last month of my pre-wedding workout plan looked like it was going to be torture. I don't know what I was thinking when I devised such a hardcore plan to lose weight. I think at the time I was pretty desperate to see some improvement so I thought I'd do all it took.

Well, I shared my plan with my trainer and she told me that the long and drawn-out insanity cardio sessions I had planned weren't the best for fat loss. She explained that after every workout session y... Thu, 2 Aug 2012 15:11:10 EST first day with trainer http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4995823 I signed up for 8 half-hour training sessions for the next 4 weeks leading up to my wedding to kick start my weight-loss. I can use all the help I can get! I have already worked with this trainer, so she knew me and started kicking my butt right away.

It was a tough workout and even though it was only 30 mins I burned 377 calories (according to my HR monitor). It probably also helped that it was friggin' hot in there and that already had my HR up! What gym doesn't have air conditi... Wed, 1 Aug 2012 07:05:25 EST Two week results http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4994294 I am 2 weeks into my pre-wedding shape-up plan and did my weight and measurements again today! Last week I had lost 1.5 lbs and 3.25 inches. As of today, I have lost a total of....

....drumroll....

3.5lbs and 4 inches!!

I know it will get even harder to lose from now on. I have already been working out like an animal, so I can't really add anything on in that department. I'm very happy with the weight loss this past 2 weeks, but the I only lost half as many in... Tue, 31 Jul 2012 08:01:16 EST Assessing the damage from the weekend http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4992759 Well I stepped on the scale this morning and saw a 2.5lb gain since Friday. I was pretty disappointed, but when I thought about it I realized it is almost all water weight. I would have had to have eaten over 12 290 calories this weekend to actually gain that much weight! I know for a fact that I only ate about 5000 calories this weekend, so the most I may have gained is .4lbs and that doesn't consider the fact that I burned over 1200 calories working out this weekend.

So now that... Mon, 30 Jul 2012 09:11:46 EST Cheat weekend!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4992094 My last blog was about planning to cheat a little this weekend to fit in a dinner out and a birthday party. I did pretty well yesterday and still almost was at my maintenance calories because I burned off over 1000 calories working out. I ate a big pasta dinner with bread and a few drinks at night as well as some poutine. Actually, the poutine was nowhere near as good as I remember it being and I felt completely gross after eating it. I think this will prevent more cravings for it in the futu... Sun, 29 Jul 2012 19:23:46 EST Cheat day?? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4990233 I have been making such good progress that I am terrified to eat maintenance calories, or even to go below an 800 calorie deficit, which I have been doing most days. However, today my fiancee and I are taking a drive to a seaside town out of the city to walk around the shops and have dinner together. Then, we have a friends' birthday downtown tonight and there will be drinking involved. I always want poutine after drinking downtown and there is the BEST place ever that makes amaaazing poutine... Sat, 28 Jul 2012 09:14:48 EST Hiking adventure http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4988839 Yesterday a friend and I decided to do a hike in the forest near her house. I wore my heart rate monitor just so I could track whatever calories we burned. It was a gorgeous day and not too hot. The trail was pretty rugged and at one point went up a mountain to a lookoff point at the top where you can see over the whole valley and 3 lakes plus the ocean! It was so gorgeous and I couldn't believe how easy it was to climb up there. It took about 90 minutes and I burned 671 calories!! I couldn't... Fri, 27 Jul 2012 07:23:26 EST Goals for the next 7 weeks! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4985993 So I have 7 more full weeks before my wedding to make myself in the best shape ever. I think my ultimate goal is to get married in the best shape of my life, and I'm sooo close to being in better shape than I ever have in my adult life and maybe even my entire life! I remember as a kid not even being able to run the 400 metre dash on track and field day without feeling like I had to throw up! But now I can run for 30 mins no problem.

In my line of research, we study goal-setting a ... Wed, 25 Jul 2012 09:17:39 EST Plateau-Busting Week Results http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4984352 Hey Sparkfriends!

Well, I have the results of my plateau-busting week. During this week, I ate between 1336-1762 calories a day and burned 525-917 calories a day. Based on my total calorie deficit, I should have lost 1.95lbs. I ate clean mostly, although I did incorporate some small treats, and had tons of salad, veggies and hummus, Vega shakes, fruit, etc. For exercise, I have been following the insanity plan starting in week 3 and also did 3 JM circuit workout videos, 2 runs, and...
