Sun, 11 Feb 2018 21:37:41 EST Knees & Cabin I saw my orthropaedic doctor this morning. In the last 6 1/2 months I have fallen on my left knee three times. I had an monovisc injection 3 months ago. It did not help. My doctor ordered a MRI which I will get next week. He said from that we will be able to know what treatment to do. Both involve surgery either arthroscope or knee replacement. I am excited for the 5% challenge to begin. Even though I have yet to meet my 5%, I have been close a few times. These challenges really motivate me and help keep me accountable.

2. When I first started I tried to get 120 minutes a day, 7 days a week. I did lose and got close to onderland. However, this led to my having adrenal fatigue and I ended up gaining. I have struggled losing weight ever since.

3. I am now being more careful on exercise - mainly walking... Thu, 29 Jun 2017 21:42:16 EST Three Tidbits I am on the Cloverleaf Team for the Summer 5% Challenge. This practice week we are to share three things about ourselves each day - either on on our SparkPage or on a Blog.

1) I love Winnie the Pooh -- I have a 6 foot tall Winnie the Pooh sitting above our front door. We bought it at a garage sale in Oak Park, IL in 1979. It used to be in the children's department in Sears.

2) I have spent the night in the tallest building in Inverness, Scotland. I was with him on his last night. It was a long night. The next day, I held his hand as he took his last breath and went to see his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The next week was spent planning his funeral on June 15th. It was a God honoring and a celebration of Dad's life. It lasted almost two hours, but it was also a mini concert as dad loved music.

... Tue, 27 Jun 2017 22:31:07 EST Finally an Update This has been a tough spring. My dad's prostate cancer spread to his bones and he was having transfusions twice a week. At the beginning of May he decided he was done with the transfusions and went on in-home hospice. The doctors said it would be two weeks. He has made it a month - he set a goal to reach his wedding anniversary on May 30th. Since then there has been a dramatic decline. My sisters and I are now providing 24 hour care. We don't expect him to last much longer.

Plus, I... Fri, 2 Jun 2017 10:26:55 EST Quilts & Kilts This last month I have been working on quilts for the Saruni International Girls Rescue Mission in Africa. I had been give a box of nine-patch quilt blocks a few years ago and with some material from my stash I was able to make three quilts. My sister took 12 other nine patches and will be making another quilt.

<img src=" Mon, 3 Apr 2017 22:16:10 EST 2016 in Review and 2017 = a New Me 2016 was a rough year for me. My MIL moved in with us. She had Alzheimers/dementia and I was her caregiver. She passed away on Dec 1. My new kiltmaking business took off. We had a nightmare of home improvements which ended with us going to a lawyer on Dec 30th because the contractor caused $15,000+ worth of damages on a $17,000 job. It was hard to focus on losing weight. One thing I am grateful for is I basically stayed the same. I was one pound lower than my 2016 starting weight. <BR... They didn't replace boards correctly and had to redo numerous times. I won't go into all the damage etc. But last night, when my husband was checking windows be... Fri, 18 Nov 2016 16:32:09 EST Better Day I was not as tired today. I realized last night that the Cortisol Manager I occasionally take at night to help me sleep, was making me drowsy during the day. I haven't taken it for awhile because of that very reason, but this last week, I had trouble sleeping so I started taking it again. So, I didn't take it last night (had a little trouble sleeping) but at least I wasn't as tired today and could function better. Tue, 15 Nov 2016 21:57:41 EST Tired =Adrenal Fatigue It was quiet today - no daycare kids, which was good as I was very tired. I know a lot of it is stress and the waiting. That is one difficult thing with adrenal fatigue - I don't have a lot of reserve. My doctor said the goal is to move each day and I try to do 30 minutes, but today I only got 20 minutes.

Mon, 14 Nov 2016 21:01:47 EST Day of Rest This was a much needed rest day! We went to church and taught Sunday School this morning. But this afternoon, I decided I just needed to take a break and rest. I didn't do any exercise. I took a short nap and then did some sewing and finished the pleats on a kilt.
Now to cross stitch and watch some TV.

Sun, 13 Nov 2016 20:07:04 EST Back to Blogging Wow, it has been almost a year since I last blogged. I can "write" a blog in my head, then when I get to the computer I draw a blank.

In my last post I talked about movement vs exercise. I have been more aware of not just sitting, but making sure I get up and move around. Having a simple step counter has been motivating trying to get to that 5000 steps daily goal I have. Mon, 26 Oct 2015 18:27:39 EST Be a Detective This last week has been another crazy week. I had two of my grandkids for the full week. Tue, 20 Oct 2015 10:46:31 EST Quilt Repairs I repaired a quilt made by my Great-Grandmother. I am guessing she made it in the 1950's because I remember my grandmother having an apron made from one of the fabrics in the quilt.

It was fun to see how she made it. It was a quilt as you go pattern. Each triangle was a square folded over a piece of batting then sewn to another triangle square. Each block is made up of four triangle squares and quilted. The blocks were then sewn together with a cross whipstitch on the back. The... Tue, 13 Oct 2015 12:20:11 EST Walking Inspiration Back in January 2011 I joined a gym because I thought I needed to exercise like crazy (like The Biggest Loser show) and the only way to do that was at a gym. And I did exercise crazily -- sometimes up to two hours at the gym, and then exercise videos and the treadmill at home until I burned it out and got an elliptical. I followed a low carb diet and kept my calories between 1200-1600 and sometimes lower. I lost weight though very slowly and it was a big struggle to do so. In the Fall of ... Fri, 9 Oct 2015 17:00:29 EST Last Two Months It has been over two months since I last blogged. These last two months have been highly stressful and emotional. I have always suspected it, but my MD doctor in Jan 2013 laughed in my face when I suggested it and asked for testing.

Instead, he tested me for sleep apnea which showed I had a mild case and was resolved with dental appliances. I was tested for thyroid and I had low thyroid... which was another fiasco trying to get the right dosage. I have since stopped seeing him, and on the third MD doctor which I like. She fin... Fri, 10 Apr 2015 21:32:05 EST Sleep This last year I have struggled with chronic fatigue which was caused by low thyroid and adrenal fatigue.
