SERVINGTHRUPT's SparkPeople Blog SERVINGTHRUPT's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community FINISHED - with the 98 Day Challenge that is... Oh, this "journey" will never be FINISHED, as I believe it's all a part of life. Me attempting to take care of this temple the Good Lord resides in.

On June 10th, 2013, I entered a 98 Day Challenge and this past Mon., Sept. 16th, I took my final measurements (where the challenge is concerned).

I have to say I am quite relieved it's behind me now, as life has been just a bit too stressful to think about... tracking food, tracking workouts, bodyfat, tape, and scale meas... Wed, 18 Sep 2013 19:56:24 EST Now, about my goals for the 2013 BFFM Summer Challenge... NOW, about my goals...

I will be REMOVING 5.62% of fat
I will be REMOVING 10.5 pounds
I will REMOVE 1" off of my chest
I will REMOVE 2" off of my waist
I will REMOVE 2" off of my hips
I will REMOVE 1" off of both thighs
I will REMOVE 3/4" of an inch off the area above my left knee (recovering from knee "issues" & they're out of balance)

I am going to achieve these goals by 9/16/13 by...

Strength training Monday, Wednesday & Fr... Sun, 16 Jun 2013 01:21:57 EST Let the 2013 BFFM Summer Challenge Begin... I'm SO excited as my best buddy (husband of 32 yrs) and I have just registered for the Burn the Fat Summer Challenge, both individually & as a couple and we are going to have a great time cheering one another along on our 98 day "journey" together.

The numbers below don't EXCITE me, and they'll look VERY different mid-Sept (actually even sooner). ;o)

Akiko's Stats 6/10/2013

AGE: 50 ... Mon, 10 Jun 2013 17:06:04 EST April's close & May's month of Movement... First of all, how was your April? Did you put goals in to place? Did you work toward achieving them? Remember, if you… fail to plan, you plan to fail. I know, I know, it sounds so… trite & I never believed it until I recently started writing down my goals. Prayerfully determining what I need/want, dialing it in & going for it.

To really put a visual on the entire idea of goal setting, here’s what... Wed, 1 May 2013 17:48:17 EST A Glimpse of my Jan., 2013... Okay, about my month. I’m not REAL pleased, & I have to acknowledge I have “logged” quite a few fitness minutes, & my new job is SO physical for this... woman who has suffered from knee “challenges” and turned FIFTY all in the past few months. :D

Seriously, I wore my heart rate monitor to work the other day, and in 5 hrs. I burned 1153 calories, & I even made the mistake of taking it off not realizing that I would then have to reface & block the entire store on my own (11,000+ pro... Wed, 30 Jan 2013 18:13:19 EST I WILL remove these unwanted inches, bodyfat & pounds!!! (caution, photos included ;o)) Well, I started this 17 DD "journey/lifestyle change" on Dec. 11, 2011. Unfortunately, or...fortunately, I didn't have my husband take my first pict. until Jan. 15, 2012?!

I still have approx. 5 additional pounds I will remove, by the end of April, and I want to decrease my body-fat by an additional 3.8%, and I am going to really “dial in” my eating so as to make that happen, and that will be more like...end of May. ;o)

In the meantime, I had my husband re-measure me ... Tue, 3 Apr 2012 12:23:52 EST I'm BAAAACK... Woot woot! Well, praise GOD I’m finally back, with the…”living.”

Wow, what a long week, fighting a flu bug that seemed to get the upper hand on me. Fortunately it was only for…4+ days, as I hear it has grabbed hold of others for up to TWO weeks. Praise God, I believe my flu remedy might have shortened up the duration and even tamed my symptoms a tad. I might mention too, I have THE BEST NURSE, and he’s ha... Sun, 4 Mar 2012 16:57:04 EST Okay, it's time to get honest with... EVERYONE (well, my SP friends who support me on this journey), and me! I have a visual board that I look at daily with my health & fitness goals on it, and I even have a picture of it posted on here, and I realized the goals & visuals I have on the "board" seem to be different that the ones I've set up on here (my "ticker," my pounds I wanted to lose, etc.).

So, today I've come clean today & changed everything to indicate the TRUE goals, reflected on my goal board.

Wi... Sat, 7 Jan 2012 12:59:13 EST I'm not much of a This is such a great “journey” I’m on. Thankfully, I’ve got God on my side, as there’s SO much comfort in knowing that.

I am in a season in my life where I’m really trying to work on me. I figure, as I near 50, (ewww, that is difficult to type, well not really 40 I just haven’t actually typed it before), I need to make the next 50 look different than the first.

Between my time in the Word & what He has me learning, my Al-anon (yes, I’m an Adult Child of an A... Thu, 7 Apr 2011 14:07:56 EST 30 Day Photo Blog (no, probably 45 day at the rate I'm going) :D My SP buddy, Shelly, has this on her blog & I thought it was a great idea... Yes, you too can copy & do it. Share some images that share with us what you're...about?! :)

Day 01- A recent picture of yourself

I realized Nov., 2010 was not "recent" and so I've added a picture of me & my WONDERFUL Mr. from 3/20/11

Day 02 - A picture of you and the person you have been closest... Thu, 10 Mar 2011 23:46:46 EST Re-grouping & Prioritizing... Good Tuesday morning! Well, I enjoyed a webinar last night, "Made to Crave," and something that really got me was the need to be connected. I think I could relate, as I'm not working outside of the house much lately, and I think I "need" a connection with people. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, I'm just not so sure I'm going about the "connection" the right way.

So, after prayerful consideration & thought, I'm going to pull back a bit with my "need" to connect "o... Tue, 25 Jan 2011 10:11:22 EST Okay, 1/17 - 1/23/11 Weekly Goals... 1/24/11 - Re-measure day. Hmm, not so good. Not terrible, and yet...three days ago I was 2.5 lbs. down & then...came the pizza. Oh, it was such a good deal, 2-med. specialty pizzas for some great price?!?!? So, it wasn't just pizza for one meal, no, no, it was for...THREE meals. That kept my weight right where I started on 1/17/11. I guess that's better than gaining, huh?! Now, it's a new week, and one I hope to make different than last. Hope yours is a great one! Oh, tape measuremen... Sat, 22 Jan 2011 23:46:47 EST Okay, 1/17 - 1/23/11 Weekly Goals... 1/20/11 - Day 4 - The week isn't quite ending in the same way it started, and I have tomorrow (I am finishing posting both Fri. & Sat. on Sat. evening) to "recover" before I am re-measured on Monday morning.

My calories, exercise and water have been great (for the most part), it's just the choices of my food for the past two days that haven't been good. PIZZA?!??! Yep, and now...with it still in the house, I think I'll suggest it goes in the trash tomorrow, if it's not gone by lu... Sat, 22 Jan 2011 23:46:35 EST A Small & Yet Measurable Difference... I was able to zip my jeans without lying on the bed, which is what they required just last week. No, not "pretty,"'s PROGRESS! Monday will be the real "truth teller," when my Husband re-measures me. :) Thu, 20 Jan 2011 13:59:08 EST It's THURSDAY & I'm STILL on track... God is GREAT! Here it is Thursday, and I've "officially" been "back on track," as far as SP goes, since this past Monday. Consistently doing something physical (cardio and/or strength) since the Jan. 8th. I feel good, spiritually, mentally, physically (well, the knee isn't real happy lately, and yet...), and I know that with each new day, I can do this.

Today, I was fortunate enough to wacth the moon go down & the sun come up as me & my "buddy" set out for our walk. The walk ... Thu, 20 Jan 2011 10:35:57 EST Half Way thru the Week & doing....Pretty Good, if I must say so... Okay, so...on this here Wed., the week isn't looking at good as I started out, and yet...I'm still doing okay. Tomorrow, it's a new day. I will start with some cardio in the AM, my workout "buddy" had to switch our strength work out to cardio, due to time, and that's okay. Friday we will do our strength workout.

Hope you're having a GREAT week, and if not....tomorrow is a new day.

Be blessed, a blessing. :) Wed, 19 Jan 2011 23:04:24 EST My Weekly Goals 1/17-1/23/11 (thanks to Shelly I could copy & paste) :) 9 - 1/20/11 - My Thursday was TERRIFIC, for more reasons than the fact that I could zip my jeans without lying down on my bed. The icon I've posted for today is a SLIGHT exaggeration, as they're not "loose," I could just zip them. :)

It felt SO good to get out in 6 degrees this morning & just move. Me, the one that said I'd NEVER live where it snows. Well, it barely snows, and yet it's REALLY cold.

242 1/19/11 - 3 DAYS behind me! Ok... Mon, 17 Jan 2011 10:13:31 EST My Weekly Goals (thanks to Shelly I could copy & paste) :) THANKS to Shelly, I was able to copy & paste her blog & I will edit it as I see needed...I am on day seven of a focused new program.

And...for any that wish to copy & paste...TAKE THE FORMAT (Shelly said it's okay :))! Copy it, paste it in your blog, set up your weekly goals, and then track them with my this week!!

These are my daily goals for this week.
I, Kiko & I am staying accountable and will post my results every day.

I will do cardio for 30 minu... Mon, 17 Jan 2011 10:13:20 EST Today's "Healthy Reflection" seems to have my name all over it!!! One Feb. day, almost two years ago, I hung out my shingle, to be a Personal Trainer, and here I am....still in business. Probably not "successful" in a lot of people's eyes, and yet....I'm feeling good about what I've been able to do for every one of my clients. Helping others, as they work toward their health & fitness goals. Removing unwanted pounds, converting fat mass to lean, decreasing and/or discontinuing some of their meds., a variety of "changes" taking place in their lives. Not to e... Wed, 2 Dec 2009 17:05:28 EST It's a new week.... Last week came & went without a workout! I say "without a workout," and yet...I do get in there & do some cardio with a few of my clients, as it's difficult to do cardio at home, without equipment, and alone. So, the knee gave me grief all week & now I am going to ice & get a workout in, well at least do my physical therapy exercises.

My Orthopedist told me last week that if I don't stop my knee will not get better, & finished my office visit by telling me there's no need for me ... Mon, 23 Nov 2009 17:51:39 EST finishing up my week right! It's been an interesting "roller coaster" ride, and thankfully God was in that seat next to me. Between the emotions being all over the place (love those hormones), and then my final "weigh in" at the end of the 90 day challenge not being what I'd set out for...well, I just finished my workout this morning and I was pleasantly surprised. The minutes I've worked out this week were double what I set as my goal & I burned almost 300 more calories than I had hoped to. This may not be much to t... Sat, 7 Nov 2009 16:15:22 EST not the right time of the month to RE-MEASURE, for more reasons than ONE! So, here it is the last day of the 90 day "challenge," I'm TOTALLY PMSing it, more than usual, as I ran out of supps. (vitamins) more than a week ago. The only thing that came in less today was my weight (down from 138 to 136). My lean went DOWN, fat up and a couple of my measurements went up too?! I have got to hand this over to the Lord, cuz I'm having a MELT DOWN! Okay, slight exaggeration, and yet...I'm sad & frustrated.

I have a pretty good idea of where I went wrong, I... Thu, 5 Nov 2009 18:06:41 EST and the verdict.... Okay, today is THE day. It's the last day of the 90 Day "Challenge" I've been a part of. I have to say I'm a bit anxious regarding my measurements (weight/fat removal.) I think the best part of the last 90 days is the appreciation I have for the things I CAN do, in spite of my knee. I was hospitalized for a week, back at the beginning of May, and still today, six months later, I'm so limited as to what I can do, and yet....somewhere in the past 90 days I've really learned to focus on what... Thu, 5 Nov 2009 09:18:24 EST Weighing in today.... I am SO glad there are more ways than just the scale to measure weight loss. I've always recognized that fact & really even encourage my clients to look to other means for "measuring" their loss or success, such as...the tape, body comp., clothes, etc.

So, today was my weekly weigh in for the 90 Day "Challenge" I'm participating in, and.....I was so looking forward to the scale going down, and it only moved by .3 #. So, without batting an eye, I moved on & had the body comp. done... Thu, 15 Oct 2009 17:15:36 EST Today's "weigh in" Okay, not too pleased with my results today, and yet...some of the measurements were decent. The "Challenge" began on Aug. 17th, and here are the measurements to date: Body Comp. has really gone up & down with each week, today...up 1.4%, weight - I have now removed only 1.3 lbs. (that too has gone up & town a pound or two each week), and lastly my tape measurements...I have removed a total of 10 1/2 inches in less than two months. Thank God for the variety of ways to measure, as I know I l... Thu, 8 Oct 2009 23:37:39 EST Pity Parties and "Health" defined.... I just read a couple of SP items that really have my brain working. The first one, a blog about pity parties. Oh, I had such a rude awakening recently, thank you Lord. I was at my Church, where a friend is hosting a 12 Week Challenge. Well, I left feeling a bit frustrated because my body composition isn’t changing as fast as I believe it should/could be. I believe most of this is due to my inactivity (or decreased) because of my patello femoral syndrome (secondary to an MRSA infection). ... Wed, 7 Oct 2009 19:52:40 EST Monday Monday...praise God for a new week! Weekend was too full, and mostly on-the-go, which through me & my good choices off track. Didn't do horribly, and yet, I know it could have been better. Today is a new day, and I'm over have way through it, and still on track.

My knee has got me a bit discouraged. A follow-up with my Ortho indicated I might be doing to much. He said I will just prolong my healing if I don't slow down & eliminate some "activity" in my life. Hmmm, that's frustrating when I'm on a "mission" to l... Mon, 5 Oct 2009 17:50:38 EST
