SEEHOLZ's SparkPeople Blog SEEHOLZ's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Back to blogging... because I know that someday I will be glad I did... I just took a mini snap shot of some 2014 blog know, before I just kind of took a time out from blogging on here, since no one was going to read it anyways... or when I was just not into it.

Anyways, I am okay with no one reading these blogs-lol. I thought about starting a blog somewhere else... why? I don't have all that much to say.

Anyways, a couple of things have sparked this blog. 1) I finally stepped on a scale- at night- after eating and drinking al... Thu, 28 Apr 2016 19:46:00 EST 8 years and 2 months later.... since I wrote my first blog- and the content was that I had the "guts" to write my first blog-lol.

I wanted to blog a bunch of times and have been thinking to make my page public again... except there is a lot of private stuff in my past 8 plus years of blog-lol- which might not be the smartest thing to make public.

Anyways... through all of the ups and downs, highs and lows... and there were many, I did remain active on Sparks... at least enough to check in pretty muc... Wed, 1 Jul 2015 15:35:30 EST LITTLE victories I got my blood work done on Monday- I was hoping for good results, but a bit worried about my cholesterol, as it can be borderline (it was 205 last year and 205 in 2002, basically pretty much borderline since I can remember). It's 180 as of Monday- 180!

All my other blood work is IN RANGE!

When I went to the Dr office last Friday, she pulled up the file and the first thing I read was:

General appearance: overweight.

I wasn't offended nor can I s... Wed, 17 Sep 2014 12:36:57 EST CHANGES I don't know where time flies!

Life has been busy- at times way too busy with work, but that's nothing worthwhile to get into. Our big deadline is in a few weeks... and while I'll be busy with off season projects (I have already have a huge one lined up) it'll be nice to have less pressure.

My kid left for college last week! I didn't cry, which kind of surprised me, but he felt content and good about his college choice and I love campus and everyone I've talked to tha... Wed, 27 Aug 2014 10:08:48 EST Surprised myself just a little... Still crazy busy & still looking forward to vacation :-) In the meantime, just trying to hang in there and get everything that NEEDS to get done.

After last week's graduation ceremony, this week we hosted Danny's graduation party at a very nice outdoor pavilion in the Metroparks. We had the perfect weather and it was really nice to see family and friends. But I will say, that hosting big parties is definitely not my cup of tea. As much as I tried not to stress, I still had a hard ... Sun, 8 Jun 2014 21:22:25 EST 2 weeks till VACATION! WOW! This is the longest time between blogs, which shows you that while I am still logging on daily and catching up daily for a few, Sparking has not exactly been my priority lately, neither has my diet or exercise. I'm in the "doing it without thinking too much about it" or permanent maintenance phase-lol. (which is not as funny as it sounds to me)

The things is- I've been really, really busy, both at work ( it has been a crazy year for me so far) and in my personal life ( life ... Tue, 3 Jun 2014 13:50:49 EST EIGHTEEN!!! Wow, my kiddo, my little baby boy turned 18 yesterday :-) And... I didn't cry :-) :-)

I am so amazed at how grown up he is in so many ways and how childlike he still is in all other ways. But mostly, I am just so amazed at what an awesome human he is - I love him to the moon and back and then some!

I also completed an EIGHTEEN mile run this past Sunday- it was hard, like really hard, but I didn't give up and I finished. And 2 days later I am still walking and not in pa... Tue, 15 Apr 2014 15:58:17 EST Longest run since 2009 Today I ran 16.5- the longest distance I have covered since 2009- the last time I ran a full marathon. After that I was plagued with injuries for 2 plus years and honestly have never quite been the same. That said, I made a conscious decision back in 2011 to just run for fun and not train for any races and while I have run a bunch of half marathons since then, I haven't really "trained" for any of them, but rather have just been running with my family and friends, keeping my base. It's been o... Sun, 30 Mar 2014 13:38:47 EST A winter weather Half Marathon It's certainly no secret that the winter weather has not been ideal this year- 2014 will be remembered for a crazy cold, snowy, even "arctic" winter.

It's also no secret that it is no fun to run in single digit temperatures with sub zero windchills or in a foot of snow. weeks away! So, to make my point, running this winter for me has simply been about getting out there and running. Some runs were surprisingly good and others were a constant struggle. My focus has been to get out ... Sun, 2 Mar 2014 17:01:03 EST Ha! So much for that progress..... Funny how ONE week can make such a difference- last Monday I kept thinking... man, I have not been doing too shabby... Today, ummm.... feel like I took a few steps backward.

It didn't help that I stepped on the scale and I saw a number I was hoping I was past. But, after that, I realize that I had actually lost a lb- so overall, I am still ahead of the game.

Well, except it's like 6 weeks later and only 1 lbs later, so even if I am giving myself all the time in the wor... Mon, 17 Feb 2014 14:35:28 EST Definitely progress! I have finally been able to "see" some progress, particularily this week :-) and I won't lie, while it might be miniscule and maybe not even "actual" ( since I don't weigh myself very often and I definitely haven't weight myself since right after Christmas)- but I feel a bit better in my clothes and my legs feel a bit tighter too, which I won't deny, it's made me smile just enough to keep me from getting frustrated or feel negative about myself, which is great in itself.
To keep it real... Fri, 7 Feb 2014 15:37:24 EST Staying the course... ... and keeping the eyes on the prize.

This past week was long ( I worked Sun and my regular week, some late nights), but too short to get all my ducks in a row.

And I got distracted... and still struggling with water and staying in range ( to some extend).

The upside of course was that the week just flew by... if you already have to spend so much time at work, it better doesn't feel like the week drags on.

Today I had a bad moment when I was tr... Sun, 19 Jan 2014 20:26:26 EST Hangry Meltdown... Uggh.. I was working all day yesterday and it went well for the most part. My boss ordered pizza (ugh) and I ate a little of it for lunch and I brought yogurt, but I expected to leave work by 4:30 the latest. Well, that did NOT happen, which in itself is not that big of a deal, except that I got really, really, really hungry.

We were ordering food for my Inlaw's anniversary, so I wanted to wait to eat till I got there..

Well... by the time I was "allowed" to leave, whi... Mon, 13 Jan 2014 22:16:16 EST .... on being good... (commit and follow through) yep, as my 2014 "mantra" , I committed today to a few days (a week, two?.. hopefully not more than one) off from running to allow my shin split ( or whatever version of such that I have) to heal. Last Thursday, while doing my cardio drill workout, I felt pressure in the outer lower leg (shin) mid-workout. Friday I didn't go to the gym till 7pm and ran on the TM and I sure felt the shin pressure/pain the whole run. When I woke up Saturday, it was still there (not necessarily worse, but not b... Sun, 5 Jan 2014 21:36:22 EST Ready to rock 2014 HAPPY NEW YEAR!

To sum it up in one word, my holidays were RELAXING, even though I worked except for Christmas and New Years Day.

I didn't overeat- that's the positive, but all the sugar and more sugar and yummy goodness, left me FLUFFY and bloated. My Christmas Day run felt yucky- and that's when I decided that it is time to commit to my goal of loosing 10-15 lbs in 2014 and follow through on that plan.

So I'm committed, which you know is always super hard... Thu, 2 Jan 2014 13:59:43 EST 2 CHILLY Half Marathons For one, I miss all my Sparkies- life is busy and we all our plates full, but I do love this place and even though I'm not on here writing blogs or posting updates, I still love this place and I love and miss you guys :-) I think of each of you often- usually at random times and I really cherries our friendships- at whatever level they are! HUGS!!!

Life has been overall good- nothing exciting and nothing bad happening- right now, I would equate my life with a flat road with little... Sun, 15 Dec 2013 14:21:47 EST Seventy-Five Percent Dillema Totally random, but I took an online assessment and surprise, surprise-LOL I am 75% left-brained... my lack of creativity is evident-LOL.

So in order to be more balanced I should be nurturing my creative side- ha! The thing is..... I find most "creative" things a complete waste of time ( for me, not in any way anyone else).
I don't think it's fun to be decorating for Christmas or forget Halloween. To me, dressing up to go anywhere is only a pain- I wished I could show up in... Tue, 26 Nov 2013 15:54:50 EST Happy Times are....

running hills with friends on a gorgeous Fall day :-)

This pic was taken a few weeks back- on one of our Fall runs- next to everyone, I look like a giant-lol. In real life, I'm only 1/2 an inch taller than Dan and the same height as my friend Jodi, but somehow I look extra giagantic in this pic.

Giant or not, can you tell how happy we all are, after we just crushed 2 big hills?

... Sun, 10 Nov 2013 11:53:25 EST Recap, Recharge, Reset, Refocus, Realize... that life is good, even if things aren't perfect, even when there is too much work and not enough fun, even if you had a huge fight with DH that got you so angry you cried, even if you have a ton of stuff to do and never seem to get ahead much, even if you are exhausted at the end of the day, even if you can't seem to eat more veggies and even if your kid seems to constantly talk back to you and you want to rip your hairs out over annoying people at work-LOL.

That pretty much sums ... Thu, 17 Oct 2013 10:25:46 EST Finish Line Feeling! Running towards that parking lot, being able to see the finish line in the distance, but having to maneuver through all the cones and twists and turns, was pretty darn exhausting-LOL. Continuing to complain in my head about how stupid that part of the course was-LOL- trying to focus on really taking it step by step- I saw my 3 friends- Kim, Jodi and Bick- yelling and screaming my name, cheering me on- they were still there! waiting for us :-) It was the most incredible feeling and all of a su... Fri, 27 Sep 2013 13:31:02 EST Half Ironman Blog Part 2 of???? As we were waiting the whole 5 minutes ( which btw seem like an eternity) in the cold lake with a only the girl Half Ironman participants, I tried hard to ignore all the chatter that was going on around me.. because someone freaking out about murky water or their fear touching a fish was only going to be a bad distraction. I TRIED-LOL. Of course, one random, very fit looking girl, asked me if this was my first Half Ironman--- hmmm, my first TRI ever I responded. She thought I was crazy, becau... Tue, 17 Sep 2013 21:40:14 EST THE Blog (part 1 of ?) I woke up feeling excited, yet the reality set in that it was almost show-time. I had my bin and started putting some "Essentials" into the black box.
Essentials like goggles, swim cap, shower shoes, bike shorts, stinger wafers... you get the picture. Unlike Missi... I had no list of stuff to pack. Instead, I decided to briefly google a generic Tri list to ensure I didn't forget anything-lol.

Missi was coming to get me at 1pm. She was actually "late" and I won't lie, I was RE... Fri, 6 Sep 2013 22:36:34 EST Europe Pics 2013 We got home late last night. I've been fairly productive since then... went through all my mail ( including e-mail), listened to all 46 voicemails, paid all my bills and unpacked all my stuff. I even cooked today :-) and I figured, I might as well get the pics on the computer and write this blog.

<img src="http://photos-ak.sparkpeople.... Sat, 3 Aug 2013 22:37:15 EST The blog before THE BLOG I really want to write a race recap and I better do it soon, before I forget the entire Half Ironman experience. I was hoping to add some pictures, but considering how I never put any pictures from my phone on the computer... we shall see. I STILL have not given up on that part of the blog-LOL- so I am giving myself till this week-end :-)

Not to spoil it all-LOL... but I will say, it was one AMAZING experience and I want to do it again!

And I have been wanting to say T... Wed, 19 Jun 2013 14:04:10 EST Just a quick blog while I get a chance.

I've been busy at work and sitting down blogging has not been happing-lol.

Life is good !

There are always minor issues to deal with- this week, I tripped over the side walk and f'd up my wrist - ugghhh! And my car broke down the same day. And it had to be the one week where we are driving to Chicago to see the Rolling Stones in concert-lol.

Cleveland Marathon week-end was a couple week-ends ago. Dan ran his 3rd marathon and t... Thu, 30 May 2013 18:54:11 EST Less than 1 month from now... June 9th is the day where the rubber meets the road! O-M-G... the time has snuck up on me and I'm in dire need to get all my loose ends tied out :-)

I started training back in January and even though my training has not been perfect by any means- I have been relatively consistent, getting in a decent base and building onto it some sort of intervals.

I'm a TRI NEWBIE--- never done a real TRI before. ( I did a 60 min Indoor Tri in 2012- but yeah, nothing to prepare me f... Wed, 15 May 2013 14:13:20 EST Spring's FINALLY Here!!! So... finally Spring's arrived. The grass is GREEN... like Danny pointed out... as green as in Ireland-lol. The trees are blooming and my inner self is HAPPY :-)

I'm still in full training mood as well---- 7 weeks out from the race. Slowly, it's starting to set in... that race day is nearing. WOW!

I'm still a bit scared.... but more and more excited and more and more confident that I can do this... and somehow be able to finish it in 7 hours-GULP.
Well... that par... Sun, 28 Apr 2013 20:40:49 EST Athens Half Marathon & OU Week-end! Happy Monday!

I am feeling great today :-) The weather is beautiful and it's April 15th!

So... fingers crossed- my life will be a tad less pressured from the work front....

This week-end was awesome :-)

We left Friday after work- ugghhhh... driving 4 hrs somewhere after work on a Friday night is not my idea of fun.... everything was so flipping rushed and it was dark and we got a bit lost and fought and finally arrived at our cabin at 10:30pm. <... Mon, 15 Apr 2013 13:48:30 EST As long as I keep trying... things will turn out allright.

I don't blog much anymore, because I don't feel like I have much to say.... except negative things about people who irritate the crap out of me-LOL. And... I can only do so much purging without being annoyed with myself-LOL.

Hmmm... so where did I leave of?

Oh- my fear of failure and my lack of motivation to study.

Oi- truthfully, March was a disasater in the studying department. I could make excuses- actually, I ... Tue, 9 Apr 2013 13:49:47 EST March Madness! This has been probably the longest break between blogs for me... even though I wrote this lame "pep talk" blog and deleted it right away (even though poor John took the time to read it).

Feb started out okay- I was on track for my study goals- then we got busy at work- like really, really busy and it was cold out and just winter blahs and tiredness of lack of seeing the sun set in and I got overwhelmed and really started to feel burned out.

I couldn't take it anymore-... Sat, 9 Mar 2013 11:05:21 EST V-DAY LOVE My normal Th routine is to spin and lift afterwards...

I almost changed it up this morning, because I went out last night with a couple of friends, because our friend who lives in San Diego was in town... and you know how it goes- you stay out too late :-)
She's worth it, but one thing that is my downfall is too little sleep.....

So my backup plan was to run this morning and "spin" by myself after teaching my class tomorrow--- but I woke up without an alarm at 5:3... Thu, 14 Feb 2013 09:56:19 EST Buns of Steel I have come to realize that buns of steel are totally achievable-LOL!

And you would think that doing lots of squats and lunges and leg lifts would do the trick, right?

Well.... I am not going to say you are wrong, because targeted bun exercises are definitely going to lift the bootey... and make it all powerful!

But, lately... I have come to realize that cycling- sitting in the settle- with resistance, but speed at the same time... basically focusing on the... Mon, 4 Feb 2013 21:27:14 EST Competitive me or Inspired me? Some random guy told me yesterday ... that I "must be working out ... with weights or something" because I look atheltic. The best part is that he wasn't all that ugly himself-LOL... so that compliment made me feel good :-)

While I definitely have been working on my body image over the past year, I can't deny but think "I'm fat" especially when looking at pictures of me. The good part is- I find that self-talk rather non-threatening these day.. aka- stop it Patty!-lol... but by th... Tue, 29 Jan 2013 16:22:20 EST 72 Degrees! That's the temperature DROP that we experienced between getting on our plane in Miami last night and getting off our plan in Cleveland ... it was 8 degrees out, with wind chill making it feel negative 5 outside. 3 hrs earlier, I had just changed out of my shorts-LOL!
The crazy thing is- I was mentally ready for the cold and wore 3 layers and my ear muffs, so I felt totally fine- it actually didn't feel THAT cold to me. While waiting for my bag at the gate, a couple "inexperienced" busin... Wed, 23 Jan 2013 20:24:53 EST 2013 GOALS & COMPROMISES HAPPY NEW YEAR! My first blog of 2013 has arrived-LOL... and no... no pictures :(
I kind of feel bad, but it's just not happening right now--my #1 excuse is time... but it just comes down to priorities and right now... posting pics on Sparks... is just not up there-lol.
I hope you understand :-)

I've been reading up on a few of your guys's 2013 Goals and Plans and I love how each new year comes with a lot of renewed motivation, positive energy, ambitions, excitements, t... Tue, 8 Jan 2013 17:20:58 EST Houston Sun- Cleveland Snow It's been a whirldwind adventure since last Thursday-LOL

I flew to Houston after work---- almost got stranded in Chicago, as the snow storm was just arriving as we were leaving for Houston- PEW... didn't spend my week-end in Chicago- thank God!
I did arrive in Houston on time- 11:15pm... but my luggage didn't. I had to check it in btw- not by choice-but message sticks are considered weapons :(

So, by 3am EST and 2am CST, I was finally sound in my friend's Queensiz... Fri, 28 Dec 2012 11:28:13 EST Santa Hustle Half Marathon This was the inaugural Ohio Santa Hustle and I LOVED IT!

Granted, a bit too much commercial hype in terms of advertisement, but still, so worth the money.

A) You get to run to Cedar Point
B) You get to run through Cedar Point - including all the way by the LakeShore along the beach.. the view there is pretty cool and I almost did stop and take a picture of just that :-)
C) A bunch of running friends participated, which makes any race a bunch FUNNER
D) ... Sun, 16 Dec 2012 16:11:00 EST Rest Day I have been rather de-motivated as of late- it's this time of year.... blah, blah, blah.. and my motivation is waning....

Truth is--- I am feeling LAZY... and I am making excuses.

So tonight, I didn't run. I know I would have felt happier if I did--- that said, I felt like I didn't take a true rest day in weeks and while I have recovery days- Zumba Mondays- I don't take rest days and today I just had to. There is nothing wrong with it.

I ate a bit too much--... Tue, 11 Dec 2012 20:27:45 EST All kinds of Updates First off, I got about 90% of the stuff done I committed to in my Get it Done Blog! I am not going to beat myself up over the 10%, but sure I wished I pulled through and finished... but 90% is better than 88% and a lot better than 0%--- actually, my mind is a lot more at piece with regards having taken care of the taxes... which makes tax planning and other financial planning a lot easier. In a way, this is kind of a milestone-- the year we paid the house off, the year I got all my tax ducks ... Fri, 30 Nov 2012 17:20:08 EST Thanksgiving Cross Country 10K I've run this race 3 times now. I used to go downtown to run the 5 mile TurkeyTrot, but then it got expensive... and I needed a change. One year, I was so cheap, I ran my own 5 miler and another year, I actually was out there running 7.25 miles and it was soooo bad outside, I called Dan to pick me up--- running into the cold, fridgid wind on icy roads and low visibility was miserable.

This year? PERFECT WEATHER- best Thanksgiving Day weather since I moved here in 1996-- absolutely... Fri, 23 Nov 2012 09:19:44 EST GET IT DONE PATTY! So I need to call myself out!

Life is good, I am good, all is good-- nothing exciting going on- just lather, rinse, dry & repeat or whatever it is that people say, ha! Basically, I feel grateful, relaxed and mostly content.

Which is awesome--- up to the point where Lazy Patty starts taking over motivated, hard-working, butt-kicking one and stuff just doesn't get done :(

While that is always true to some extent- I would be lying to you if I didn't admit that... Thu, 15 Nov 2012 10:42:17 EST Redemption Race I had this miserable HM back in September and was hoping to run a "redemption" race before race season is over.

However, I have been going back and forth between wanting to just run for fun- no pressure, slow and steady, enjoying Fall weather or signing up for a race, trying for sub- 2 hrs.

I have a love/hate relationship with racing- the love part comes in when you run strong, push your limits and are part of the running community- seeing people you know- I ran into ... Sun, 4 Nov 2012 19:25:50 EST TRX, Running and Rain Pretty much sums up my week-end....

I signed up for 6 weeks of TRX- Saturday was session #3---- I think it's a good class- it's not super hard, but it focuses on isolating exercises, so I like it! They offer this class at my local Y and Saturday at 8am just works for me- plus the girl training is great! There are only 3 of us and 1 lady is out for 2 weeks, so it's like having a personal training- anyways, trying something a little different.
I ran 8 solid miles today- I ende... Sun, 28 Oct 2012 21:49:13 EST Another one in his books and my running thoughts Dan ran his 2nd marathon on Sunday! I have to say- I was VERY PROUD, because it was a touch day for him ( and my BIL for that matter) and he was out there for 5 hours.

He said his legs ached so bad at mile 17, he had to sit down- twice and walk a lot. He did say that he passed a ton of people at the end- his normal pace is faster- and he did finish running, but he was disappointed- even though he kept saying he doesn't care.

Well- I think I managed to talk him into - I... Tue, 23 Oct 2012 17:31:36 EST October 15th Yes, I do realize it is the 16th today- just in case anyone wondered-lol.

The 15th has a lot of significance in my life-

My grandma's birthday is on the 15th-
My wedding anniversary is on the 15th
My big workdeadlines are all on the 15th- April, May and October

And not to forget- October 15th also marks 18 yrs of being together with the same guy!

Which, by the way is officially MORE than half of my life- I am 35 now.

It's ... Tue, 16 Oct 2012 17:37:51 EST Happy Me It was a gloomy, rainy Fall day today- the kind of chill that goes to your bones and the days where you feel sorry for people who don't have a home :(

I had a rather crappy 12 mile run--- I accidentally forgot to hydrate before the run and by mile 2 I was thinking about water. I just felt slow- my legs were kind of tired and I totally forgot to bring gu.

I have been working too much- I stayed past 8pm each night last week , till 11pm on Friday-trying to help out as muc... Sun, 7 Oct 2012 20:53:08 EST To weigh or not to way, that is the question I keep asking myself for awhile now. Like I mentioned some time ago, my scale, which I owned since 2002 broke this past May - since then I stepped on the scale in the Y locker room 3 random time- once I was surprised how low the scale read, once how heigh it read and today- the 3rd time since May- I was content, but not surprised either way- it seemed to reflect what I thought- I looked skinnier. I weight was down 2 lbs. But I was up 1 lbs from the 1st time. So really - I seem t... Wed, 3 Oct 2012 20:18:52 EST Blog by I'm still around... just really busy... I tried to find some pics of when my Mom was here, but they are on another computer, which is not connected to our network... so I'll try again this week-end.

Actually, last week-end was the first week-end without any real plans. Every since I came back from my summer vacation, I was booked 24/7, between school, plans, summer parties, events, and did I mention school?

Well, now that I don't have school, I feel so much more relax... Wed, 26 Sep 2012 20:54:54 EST Half Marathon Hell There is such a thing as HM hell--- and somehow I ended up running the worst Half marathon of my life- 2:13:13... the thing is:

1. I trained- 2 12 mile runs, 4 10 mile runs and steady running.... long run pace around 9:30-9:40's
2. I felt ready to run this HM mentally, which normally, I feel a bit shaky mentally
3.
