I've also added in little workouts/chores, to chart some calories burned so I could look at the Charts on the app, showing the difference between calorie consumed and calories burned.

You know what.. it so isn't working.
I tried pretty hard to be accurate with my food choices in the tracker, and try to err on the side of 1.5 serving or what not based on what I actuall... Thu, 12 Feb 2015 17:33:22 EST TGIF and dealing with the ho-hums Well, yes, this week has been a bit slumpy because I've had a cold. I went to workout at bootcamp yesterday and mentioned my blahs and someone suggested maybe I try a SAD light therapy. A good friend of one uses it every morning and says it is like a shot of espresso?!?

I was pondering myself on my drive home last night and thought I might be in a depressive funk. I have also considered that my thyroid is off too, but won't be able to check those levels until my yearly check up in ... Fri, 6 Feb 2015 12:34:06 EST Some changes that seem to be working I've made a few tweaks to my nutrition and fitness plan and I'm seeing some progression on the scale! Finally in the right direction!

Lunches have included a big bed of greens with lentils. I was in a rush and didn't have time to really make the lentils super yummy, but added some spices when I package it up for lunch and tasting pretty good. I need to keep the flavors yummy so I don't get bored!

Protein Special K cereal and snack bars (only 110 calories). For in a pinc... Fri, 23 Jan 2015 12:34:56 EST hey I tracked my food yesterday! Yay! I tracked my food up to the late afternoon and although I was already at 1300 calories, I opted for another snack (Kind bar 190 calories). I was just feeling a little off and not sure what that was about.

I got home and had a light dinner but my main course option was more caloric than I had first thought! Always pays to read the nutritional information first! BUT although I ate in the 2000 calorie range, I knew it going into it and that was okay.

However, it lead... Tue, 13 Jan 2015 13:32:11 EST A hard look at the year I gained 20 lbs.. (aka 2014) Yikes! that is right. I gained about 20 lbs this year! I pulled out my new calendar to replace my 'weigh-in' calendar in the bathroom. I scanned back over 2014.. not a good year for me.

the worst part? I really don't know where I went so so wrong! I maintained working out.. ran a marathon (gaining 10 lbs while training) and then just ballooned even more this late fall. And I didn't even indulge that much during the holidays.

well, I say that but I didn't track my food ... Mon, 12 Jan 2015 12:38:06 EST Almost like starting over and 5% challenge is on! Yep, the scale reveals I'm way off track.
186 in early December on my way from 188 to 185 by the end of the year.
Today 191.
just a few pounds shy of starting over.
But, not starting over because:
I work out regularly now... BUT could be doing more and pushing a bit harder.
I eat pretty well now... But obviously need to make better choices and get into a better routine.

This week, I was actually trying REALLY hard with my nutrition/food choices. ... Fri, 9 Jan 2015 10:46:11 EST weekend update Okay Okay, didn't do my best this weekend. I did pretty well on food choices for meals.. except homemade cookies! ;(
I haven't baked in forever and got my son involved in the process and we had a fun time of it. thankfully it is a small batch and they did a lot to help eat them up! However, a couple of cookies doesn't do much for my 'cut back/cut out' sugar process :(

Workout? didn't happen.. I should have went for a training run and instead ran around doing stuff with the ki... Mon, 17 Nov 2014 13:28:34 EST Mid-November update and 7 weeks till the end of the year!! Hi there! Wed, 12 Feb 2014 12:03:09 EST Scared of the scale and marathon training So the scale is moving in the wrong direction still!!

I have been trying to eat 'normally' staying in my general calorie range while starting marathon training. Last weekend was my first 'long' run of 11 miles. I thought that the slow ramp up of mileage would help with calorie burn.

BUT, I've also heard you have to be careful as the extra calorie burn can make you extra hungry.
So, I've been proactive and I've been reading books like "Race Weight" and "New Rules fo... Hill Run Monday, Bootcamp Tues/Thurs, lake swim, short run Wednesday.. Whew! Tue, 13 Aug 2013 11:38:29 EST Cycling commute into work.. what it is like for me.. First off I have to say I'm very lucky to live very close to a great (long) bike trail that runs along Lake Washington. I only have to bike down about 1/2 mile on residential roads to cross the major road (use cross walk at the light) to get to the trail. THEN, my work is also, just a 1/2 mile off the trail and most of that is the drive into the complex/campus.. again, just have to cross a major road (not too major) but there is a pedestrian cross walk if I can't merge easily with traffic. <...
