SCRAPPYLADYV's SparkPeople Blog SCRAPPYLADYV's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community The battle of the Birthday cake and day 46 Monday was Compa’s Birthday. I knew there would be cake involved and I knew that I didn’t want to eat any. It’s not that I think one slice of cake is all that bad; it is what that one slice of cake, for me, will lead to. You see I have been doing really well the past few weeks, most of my cravings are gone (for now – I know from experience that I will continue to struggle from time to time). I also know from experience that one slice of cake can set off the cycle.

So my 9 year old ... Thu, 11 Oct 2012 12:37:11 EST 30 days has . . . my exercise streak! Well actually as of today it is 31, but it was almost only day 2.

You see on Monday my schedule got interrupted and I almost let my workout slide, but then I was looking at my workout journal and I noticed that Tuesday would be day 30 of my exercise streak.

So I had a choice to make, I could either sit on the couch and say goodbye to that streak or I could get on my bike and get a workout in. I now firmly believe in the power of the streak!!! If not for that extra moti... Wed, 26 Sep 2012 21:43:49 EST A letter to me My Dearest Robyn,

I am amazed at your dedication to this journey that you are on!! I can see the progress that you have made so far and I know that you will continue on this new path.

In 10 weeks I see you:
1. 15-20 pounds lighter!
2. Able to complete a whole aerobics class at a faster pace.
3. Holding plank pose for 1 minute.

I know that you can do all of this and more. You are a strong and beautiful woman who has the determination to live life... Tue, 20 Dec 2011 19:34:05 EST MOTIVATE Me When I started Sparking, almost 2 years ago, I was on fire and it seemed like nothing could stop me. But somewhere along the way I lost my focus, my Spark, my motivation. During the ensuing months I gained back most of what I had lost (pounds) and lost what I had gained (strength, endurance, confidence, hope). I knew that this was not the direction that I wanted to be headed in. I needed to make the hard choices to get me back on the right path.

<img src="http://photos-ak.sparkpeo... Sat, 26 Nov 2011 21:14:45 EST My Holiday Wish for ME! My holiday wish for me is to be a stronger healthier person by my 41st birthday (January 8). As a means to that end I have decided to give myself a little challenge. I am going to walk a 5K on Thanksgiving morning. I have been walking pretty consistently for a couple of weeks now and I am sure that in the seven weeks that I have left to train, 5K should not be a problem (who knows maybe by then I will even be jogging a little bit!!)

So here is the plan:

<img src="http:/... Sun, 10 Oct 2010 01:57:54 EST Which goal? I think my biggest problem right now is that I haven't sat down in a long time and spelled out my goals and my plan for achieving them. I have a lot of vague goals in my mind but without having them in writing where I can see them and be reminded of them they sort of get lost along the way. What I really want to work on first is exercise consistency. For me exercise is the key to success and so I need to focus on making it a regular part of my life and not just a hit and miss activity.
... Sat, 11 Sep 2010 13:38:55 EST Why keep Sparking? If you asked me why I keep Sparking I'd have to ask you if you had an hour. LOL! Seriously, I can tell you that without Spark I am sure that I would still be in the same boat I was in in February. But everything has changed since then!!

I love my Spark teams!! They motivate me to stay on track.

I love the challenges. They encourage me to push myself, to try new things and to keep going no matter what.

I love the fitness and nutrition trackers. They keep me a... Sat, 11 Sep 2010 00:16:27 EST Why did I join Spark? I have been Sparking since February. In January I had turned 40 (oh my!!) and really decided that it was now or never - I needed to get myself into better shape. I needed to get healthy. I had been trying to tell myself that I need to start exercising and that I need to eat better, but I was not getting anywhere on my own.

So one night I was surfing the web and somehow came across some information about Spark People (I wish I could remember where, but for the life of me I can't). I... Wed, 8 Sep 2010 02:06:58 EST Exercise or How do I love thee, let me count the ways... You know, sometimes I really would prefer not to have to exercise. I mean I usually enjoy it once I get started, and I always feel better after I am done. But it's the before. The thinking "oh, I need to exercise when I have so many other things I would rather do."

And then I remember - exercise is something that I need to do in order to better enjoy those things that I would rather do. Exercise has helped me to change the shape of my body. Exercise has made my body healthier. Exe... Someone who is learning to make choices that will result in a healthier and more fulfilling life.

"You don't need anyone else's permission to be happy. I have never been a bony, angular person. Yes I have big bones, but I have always been round and fluffy. Little kids like snuggling with me - I have nothing hard that would poke them. Even my nose is kind of round. But I think that things are beginning to change. The past few nights I have noticed a pain in my knees. It took me a while but I finally figured out that my thigh bones are pressing against each other. Now I can not remember ever having this problem. I asked my hubby "hey do your b... Mon, 1 Mar 2010 17:48:01 EST 5 Things that Motivate me to make Healthy Choices This challenge really made me reflect on why I made the decision to get healthy and why I joined Spark People. Here is what I came up with.

1. The desire to have more energy to do fun active things with my hubby. I would love to be able to go on long bike rides and to kayak.

2.
