Since then I have lost 32 pounds by eating right and tracking everything, riding my bike, exercising with Leslie Sansone and Coach Nicole and strength training. I spend most days alone with plenty of time to devote to myself after 28 years of neglect. But I was missing having a meaningful job. I found a part time job doing the same thing I did previously. I really like my new job BUT it will be an adjustment. I will have to find a new time ... Mon, 14 Apr 2014 08:26:08 EST I am Getting Back Into the Swing of Things I was doing so good until September. My heel hurt and then it was my knee. My Spark activity was dwindling. I am back to tracking my food, exercising, and ready to start losing some weight. I am glad to be back.

Fri, 10 Jan 2014 12:37:53 EST Great Quote That I Wished I Would of Read 10 Plus Pounds Ago "One of the most common causes of failure is the habit of quitting when one is overtaken by temporary defeat.
Napaleon Hill

Tue, 22 Oct 2013 08:30:08 EST Why Am I Having Such a Hard Time? I have been struggling all summer and now I have gained 10 pounds. I tell myself that I am not going back up but I find myself obsessing about food. I have got out of the exercising habit as I have plantar fasitis. I do bike ride but that will soon come to an end when the weather turns. So I am going to start focusing on weight training. My son is attending college and his weight lifting bench is just sitting there all alone. I also can start doing more floor exercises like pushups and... Mon, 7 Oct 2013 09:49:56 EST Getting Back on Track I have been having a bit of a struggle these last few weeks. I participated in the Spring into Summer 5% challenge and made my 5% weight loss. But almost immediately after that I gained back a few pounds. I know that I am not supposed to let the scale control me, but it does. I have made great strides since I started Spark People last August and I want to keep moving forward. I will say this about a recent post about how exercising is easy, it is the remaining 23 hours that are tough. T... Wed, 24 Jul 2013 08:03:04 EST Fitness Confusion I have been using the Leslie Sansone walking DVD's since October. I try to mix these up with the Spark People 28 Day Boot Camp DVD. Then I read that the walking DVD's may not get your heart rate up enough as your fitness increases. So am I wasting my time walking, and should I do some more intense cardio? Then I read the benefits of walking 10,000 steps a day. I do the 5 mile walk on most days, so it has to be good. I mix up the walking DVD's, as some use the stretch band or weights, ... Mon, 25 Mar 2013 08:14:47 EST Facebook Post I opened my FB page this morning and was surprised to see a post from my daughter, who attends college. . Here is the exact quote.

So proud of my amazing Mommy, Becky S. Ever since she retired in August she has been working he butt off literally to become healthier and lose weight! Wed, 20 Mar 2013 08:01:15 EST Dr.'s Visit I went to the doctor Monday and saw the Physician Assistant. My A1C was 6.6. I told her that I wanted to get it to 6.0. I mentioned that I was losing weight and exercising and was hoping to get off meds. She said it was the meds that were helping reach my goals. It was discouraging. Then I found out she was leaving the practice, so it was a good time to part ways.

273 Wed, 16 Jan 2013 09:51:18 EST Saved by Reading the Blogs I have been very discouraged lately. Yesterday and today I read some blogs that really hit home and I am so thankful for those that took the time to write them and help others. I also read something that Coach Nicole wrote on Facebook and that was a lifesaver. She said that even if you are not losing weight, the exercise you are doing is creating positive changes inside your body. I was going to take time off from Sparking but after reading all this I did some exercising and started to tr... Sat, 12 Jan 2013 11:04:18 EST I'm Losing My Steam and I Am TRYING to Get It Back. I will admit that I am just tired of all this diet stuff. I am getting tired of all this exercising and constant thinking about food. I have been at this since August and am FRUSTRATED. The one thing that really hit home is that you can't exercise for an hour and then think you can sit around for the other 23. I have blogged before about sitting around and I still struggle with this. I can only do so much house cleaning. I read a lot so I try to read standing up at the kitchen counter. Any suggestions to combat this dilemma would be appreciated.

24 Tue, 1 Jan 2013 13:07:13 EST January, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year I love this time of the year. I was looking at the adds in the Sunday paper and there were all kinds of wonderful things to keep you healthy. There were specials on Special K bars and cereal, Crystal Light and Propel. Active wear clothes were on sale along with shoes. Indoor cycles, treadmills, stair steppers, pedometers, kettle balls, yoga mats, scales, fitness DVD's were all on sale. There was also yoga mats, exercise balls, walking poles and the list goes on. I am thinking about b... Sun, 30 Dec 2012 11:08:39 EST Skinny Jeans (Sort of) My one and formerly only pair of jeans looked really bad on me because they were too baggy. I tried on a size smaller and they were kind of baggy also. So I went another size down and they were kind of tight. But you know what, it was a good kind of tight, one that I earned and can live with. Now if I go buy a pair of those tall boots that everyone is wearing it will look like I am wearing SKINNY JEANS.

9 Thu, 20 Dec 2012 11:19:17 EST First I Blog and Then I Exercise Every morning I log on to Spark People and I read the blogs. But now I even sit and watch TV. My kids are out of the house and I have more time now than ever. Probably explains my very slow weight loss. It is definitely something to keep in mind .
<B... My house lacked a lot of good treats, so there was little chance to really blow it. We did consume 4 pumpkin pies during the holiday, but my husband and son ate most of them. 2. While shopping on Monday I was ogling all the cookies and other assorted goodies, I instead opted for a nice, crisp apple. 3. I was eati... Tue, 27 Nov 2012 11:52:32 EST One Is the Loneliest Number (Not Really) One. I lost another pound. It took 2 months but I never gave up. I tweaked my food plan and did some serious food tracking. I knew from the way my clothes fit and by how I could move so much easier that I was healthier. I am glad I did not give up. I just hope the next 65 pounds go a little faster. Wed, 21 Nov 2012 07:25:52 EST Joy Fit Club Member Yesterday there was a woman on TV whom had lost about 185 lbs. She was a member of the Joy Fit Club. Joy Bauer pointed out the fact that the lady always ate healthy meals. She then showed what the lady snacked on during the day. She ate chips and cookies and snack size candy bars (6) while at work. When she got home and prepared supper she ate more chips and then had ice cream for dessert. Once she quit all that mindless snacking and ate just regular meals she was able to lose weight. ... The first thing she will say is that there is nothing to eat in this house. I know because I have eliminated most temptations. So we will go to the store and all my bad habits will start back up. We told him to pay for the lessons himself if they are so important. Anyway it is to the point where we may cut him off from everything. Wed, 14 Nov 2012 07:35:41 EST Cinnamon I may have discovered a way to cut down on all the half and half I add to my 6 cups of coffee everyday. That would sure cut down on some calories. Every bit helps.

469 Tue, 13 Nov 2012 08:14:46 EST Confession Time I have a confession to make. In a previous blog I whined that I was stuck on a plateau. Well I am still there, another month later. I do my exercises faithfully, I log in to SP everyday, read the articles, take the quiz and read all my emails. I track my food but only do breakfast, sometimes I track lunch, but rarely supper. Its like the 3 legged stool, exercise, participation on the SP site, but I have not put the effort into tracking. So that is my confession. The tracking will help... Sun, 11 Nov 2012 16:19:35 EST Focusing on the Positive I have been reading a lot of SP articles and blogs. I feel pumped for today. I am going to exercise today and do some chores outside. The scale has not moved in sometime but surely all my positives can cancel out that one negative thing. I went for my 3 month doctors visit and I had lost 12 pound, my A1C went from 7.1 to 6.5, my resting heart rate went from 74 to 62, and my blood pressure was perfect. Can't wait for April to see the results from my yearly physical. I forgot to mention t... Mon, 29 Oct 2012 07:16:33 EST Boredom. I have been off work for 2 months now. The supply company will charge 10 dollars for a box of alcohol wipes and another 10 dollars for a box of lancets. Wal-Mart offers a test meter and strips. The meter is about 17 dollars and you can get 50 strips for 9 dollars. The alcohol wipes are a dollar and the lancets about 2 dollars. Just thought others should know this.
