Must admit it's kicking my butt!! Fatigue is overwhelming sometimes, along with constant nausea. My oncologist is trying his best to find something to help. Gained 12 lbs overnight in fluid retention--didn't realize skin could stretch so much without splitting open. Just bought a new wig will post one I get a pic done... Mon, 22 Jan 2018 08:39:02 EST Update--Surprise News 39 So after being told cancer was basically gone with lobe of lung removed--the pathology on 15 lymph nodes came back that 2 of them have "sprinkles of cancer cells" in them--don't show up under microscope but do show up minutely when the stain was applied. So this week am supposed to get a PIC Line inserted then start Chemo the next day--if I don't hear today--it will be next week! Waiting is the worst. The anti nausea drugs I need aren't covered--approx $250.00 a month so oncolo... Wed, 29 Nov 2017 12:51:31 EST Lucky--Lung Cancer My life has been a whirlwind for the past 2 months! I had a chest X-ray ordered by my Gastroenterologist showed a spot/tumor in my lung on the lower left lobe--a battery of test/scans /biopsies etc followed. The biopsy came back positive for lung cancer--another round of invasive tests--broncoscopy, plus surgery (at same time) to remove lymph nodes on outside lungs--had a heart attack on the table--transferred to another hospital for an angiogram--showed start of blockages in my aortic ve... Sun, 12 Nov 2017 08:55:46 EST Happy Dance Saw my ophthalmologist yesterday for my biopsy results on my eye--had taken so long as it had to go for a 2nd evaluation. He was 90% sure it was ocular pigmentation melanoma, so was worried whether they could save my eye or not. Results--not melanoma but a condition known as "Nevus of the Conjunctiva" which is a pigmentation change somewhat similar to getting a mole. They can if left turn to cancer but results show all tissue taken around it are clear. My extreme light sensitivity in the... Fri, 4 Jul 2014 08:34:06 EST Still Hanging in-LOL So here I am, followed all the instructions from the dietician & still wasn't losing even with exercising more. Had chronic sore throat &choking all the time & never felt hungry--back to Dr--off to internist--ran some tests etc--suffering from "silent gerd" apparently the "flap" between my & Esophogeaus & my stomach does not close at all but I have no symptons like heartburn etc--he sends me to another specialist--more tests--she tells me I have severe scar tissue and that while I was out ... Tue, 23 Oct 2012 13:30:03 EST Time Flies :) Can't believe it's the middle of August already. I started to see a dietician in January because I wasn't losing anything not a single pound for almost 6 months even with the increase in activity. She had me tracking & printing my daily sheets for 2 months--long story short not eating enough so she changed my calories to 1400 per day which I still struggle to attain. Also, gave me a range for protein/carbs/fibre/sodium/fats etc. So was doing my best to make the new levels but, still not ... Fri, 19 Aug 2011 09:32:27 EST Start Over Well here it is Nov 8, 2010--& I've gained back some of what I lost. So have reset all my goals etc and am starting fresh. I purchased a used treadmill and I'm going to see if I can strengthen my back enough to use it on a daily basis. I'm always afraid to walk outside as my back issues cause my legs to go numb and I'm afraid of falling. They have lunch time skating at our local arena and my daughter & I are going to start going--I'm going this week to purchase skates.

so wis... Mon, 8 Nov 2010 07:47:55 EST Sitting on hold!! 46 Well it seems the only progress I seem to be making is in lowering my cholesterol--trying to follow the Mediterranean Diet along with med's seems to be working. But, weight is not coming down -- well not very fast --have lost like 9 lobs in 4 months--very discouraging!! Had thought I'd be down much more by now. So will keep trying-- finding exercising is the toughest--between my arthritis and injuries to right leg & foot. Right-- quit whining and get on with it. 20 ... Sat, 26 Jun 2010 09:06:16 EST Hubby has passed on 46 I'm still in shock--my dh has passed away--although so ill for the past 2 years -- it was not expected so soon--still can't believe it. His doctors & nurses have all called saying it was a shock to them as well. He seemed better--was even going around the hospital in his wheelchair to go to Tim Hortons to get coffee.

My children are all here helping--we are moving on Monday (27th). Just seems so overwhelming right now.

Going to take a break for a bit. <B... Tue, 21 Oct 2008 05:56:27 EST Thanks Everyone Hi Guys--Just doing a blog entry to update all!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian Friends Haven't been ignoring you--just so much to get done here--not enough hrs in the day--I'm not doing anything special though as Danny is still in hospital--so I'm just packing-LOL

Danny is not improving very much & his attitude is very testy even my daughter remarked on it. The specialist doesn't think they'll be able to clear the infection in his leg says that it will just g... Mon, 13 Oct 2008 08:54:40 EST Hanging on to my sanity by a Thread! Things with dh worse by the day--home from the hospital--nurses tell me he should be declared pallative & put in a hospice or home but really hard to do. Have app'ts to talk to his family dr. on Monday.

There is so much to cope with -- have nurse once a day/psw's twice a day/OT once a day/PT once a day. They are training me to use the Hoyer lift to get him in & out of bed etc. Going to try this for a while to see if I can cope. Also, try to get ready to move to new apt. so ne... Sat, 20 Sep 2008 16:35:43 EST August 2, 2008 What a yucky week--hubby back in hospital--pneumonia plus a type of cellulitis in his leg/foot (only has the one). All possibly caused by ongoing MRSA (staph aureus) Wasn't sure he'd make through the night on the July 28th (our 24th Anniversary). Dr.s all say if he survives the next 10 days or so it will be a long road back. He can't say more than a couple of words & he is gasping for breath -- his lungs have deteriorated significantly since he came home end of January/08 & his heart is ev... Sat, 2 Aug 2008 10:09:27 EST July 10, 08--Holding?? 39 I've been watching what I eat but still not losing--of course exercise levels are very low--so hard to even move after caring/moving dh around. Guess I should'nt complain too much as I haven't gained back what I've lost. So in a way that is progress of a sort. Thu, 10 Jul 2008 12:23:27 EST Yesterday-Not Good June 24, 2008 Well yesterday was not a great day -- Rheumatologist thinks there is a good chanch that at least one lesion has returned on my spine & is pressing on the nerves which is making hip/leg go numb intermittently--had thought I was home free after all the treatments/therapy before. So now have to wait for more testing--MRI & Neurologist App't to do my spinal nerve testing

Well got through it all once before so will have to do it again!! 234 Tue, 24 Jun 2008 08:08:49 EST June 22, 2008 Well not a very productive week--too sore to exercise/could hardly walk/sit/stand--just no way to get comfortable to do any thing. So misery loves to eat/snack but had expected I would gain. So will start again! Better a 1/2 lb lost than gained. 15 Sun, 22 Jun 2008 06:42:26 EST June 8, 2008 Not Down! Well, it seems I didn't do as well as I hoped--didn't lose anything but good thing--I never gained. Too many days without exercise over & above looking after DH Try again to get it right Sun, 8 Jun 2008 18:00:38 EST Wed. June 4, 2008--Bad Day Totally blew it today--spare ribs, corn on the cob with butter & salt--stuffed but, oh so good. Did pass on potaotes & dessert though!
New day tomorrow Wed, 4 Jun 2008 19:31:42 EST June 1/08 Down 5 total at last!!!!!!!!!!!! Well it's taken 3 weeks but finally have lost 5 lb total--didn't think it would ever happen. Need to keep an eye on my carbs & will try to do a bit more exercise--but sometimes just hurts too much to do more than a couple of minutes. Try Try Try 241 Sun, 1 Jun 2008 16:55:31 EST May 25, 2008 Doing Better!! Had everything crossed theat could be crossed--fingers/eyes/toes/legs before I weighed in -- down 1 1/2 lb for a total of 4 since starting--hurray! Patting myself on the back! Still find it very, very hard not to snack--have to give myself a mental slap on the hand when I reach for one of my hubby's cookies--trying to keep finger foods--cut up veggies/fruits at the ready. Sun, 25 May 2008 08:24:55 EST May 19, 08--Disgusted with self After losing 21/2, I over ate totaly on Sunday--even pigging out on Cherry Pie!! So try, try, try again & again
46 Mon, 19 May 2008 07:32:07 EST May 18, 2008--1 Week in I know I've been on site for over a week but didn't really start to track/eat/exercise etc until the 11th so am going from there. Is that a cheat--maybe ??? Well did my weigh-in this morning & down 2 1/2 lb don't know whether to cry or rejoice!! Guess it's a start. Still find myself doing the mindless eating but not quite as often. So guess my weight icon is perfect--The Turtle--for slow & steady 134 Sun, 18 May 2008 05:38:00 EST Slow but Sure-LOL May 15/08 Can't believe I really haven't done much yet! Still learning to navigate all the pages & figure out how to use everything. Have started tracking my food intake which should help. Not doing too much exercise--tore my achilles tendon--so no walking etc--so only doing some arm exercises with light weights while I sit & watch TV. 213 Tue, 13 May 2008 17:29:46 EST Today is the 1st Day of the Journey 249 Well here it goes--still finding my way around this site--finding it pretty informative.
