It was a shaky start after I found a pothole with my recovering leg but it stopped hurting by mile 5. I was on track to finish around the 2 hour mark give or take 5 minutes. But my friend who was running with me was having trouble and I stayed with him for 4 miles. Then he told me to go ahead because he needed to walk. Debbie will be having the "balloon brachytherapy" type of radiation treatment, which will last a little over a week instead of 6-wks of daily radiation. She will have balloon catheter inserted next Tues., treatment Wed. thru Wed. Pray for strength & no infection at the surgical site.

Thanks for your prayers!
Steve Tue, 21 Aug 2012 20:53:11 EST God is Good!!! As I posted on my status: Thanks for your prayers PTL the result for the sentinel node biopsy came back clear!!!!!!!!! Now we are focusing on Tuesday morning when we see the Doctor to go over the treatment plan and medication that Debbie will have to take.

Steve
390
Thu, 9 Aug 2012 19:50:30 EST Update on Debbie's second surgery This is what Debbie posted on her facebook page: rough morning, for sure. Everything was tougher for this procedure & surgery ("sentinel node biopsy") than last week's lumpectomy. They couldn't even find a vein this week for the IV, multiple holes and bruises in my arm. Much more pain at the surgical site in my armpit, too. But very thankful that is easing up. A few more days till I know if the cancer spread or not, but I really believe the answer will be "not". Tue, 7 Aug 2012 00:20:45 EST Update on Debbie after lumpectomy Debbie got some good news & some bad news today. It looks like they got all the cancer as far as the lump is concerned. However, the cancer within the lump had “invasive qualities” & likely has affected lymph glands. They no longer take the whole lymph node, they have a test to see which glands are affected, then remove those by surgery. I am scheduled for the dye insertion test at 9:30 Monday morning, followed immediately by surgery (again) at 10:30.

Thanks for your thoughts and p... Thu, 2 Aug 2012 20:13:45 EST I’M STILL HERE AND STILL SPARKING – A BRIEF UPDATE It’s been awhile since I’ve written a blog. In fact I’ve been so busy I’ve barely had time to keep tracking my nutrition, water and fitness. But I have. I am currently at the new goal weight (160lbs) the Doctor wants me at. I’ve been there for some time but I haven’t put it on my page until today. That means I have lost a total of 185lbs. That is still amazing to me but I shouldn’t be surprised… “With God all things are possible”.

I had a chance to speak at a Tohono O’odham health... Sat, 2 Jun 2012 18:56:15 EST Love/hate relationship
I really shouldn’t complain about it but I am in a love/hate relationship. Living in Arizona really restricts when I can do my running. That is unless I want to overheat or dehydrate myself. No I’m not complaining about living in Arizona. It’s a wonderful place to live. To really fall in love with it would make it easier for me to keep my training up in those 105 plus days. So what is this item that I have a love/hate relationship with?
