Yesterday I was in a negative mood...not sure if it was residual from driving in the snow or not...but whatever it is I am over it.

Today I was back to my normal happy self (mostly)! I realized that its been awhile since I have really had a vacation, so I finally am willing to admit that it's time to take a break. I really need it. So in two week I will be taking my very first trip to China. Hong Kong and Ghuangzh... Wed, 9 Jan 2013 23:30:41 EST Snowy, snowy Boise! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5196152 So today it snowed. While I love snow, in principle, I do have one thing I hate about snow...driving in it! It seems as soon as it begins to snow people fall into two categories....1) drive with abandoned because it really doesn't make a difference however we drive...full speed ahead...horns blaring....these drivers scare me to death. 2) the lets go really really slow.....(I probably fit more into this one) group...so no matter how clear the roads are...it's time to drive 25 miles under th... Tue, 8 Jan 2013 00:14:45 EST Paying the price! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5192961 It's been about 3 weeks since I last picked up my tennis racquet. The inactivity was tied in part to the holidays and to the current cold streak and to not having consistent access to an indoor space.

So last night I joined the local group that has a number of chances to play indoors over the winter. I had a great time being the weakest player in the group all night...not something I enjoy at all. (Blame my competitive nature on this). I got better as the night progressed, but... Sun, 6 Jan 2013 11:20:16 EST Almost didn't make it ...... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5191003 This day has gone by so quickly...I almost didn't get this post in. Don't want to be 4 days into the new year and already be breaking my new year resolutions. Need to get to at least 6 days.....

All in all a great day, my sister and I are going to china in three weeks and today, the one possible glitch to the trip came through...the visa.

So for the next few weeks you will get to hear about my plans for my very first trip to China. I am getting excited. Need to lose... Sat, 5 Jan 2013 01:48:39 EST It's way to cold.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5189125 You know it's cold when the dogs don't want to go outside.

Today went for a great 45 minute walk outside. It was so nice. There is something invigorating about being outside in the cold. It's like you are challenging the elements to get the better of you....and more often than not...the elements win.

So it's day three of the new year and I am slowly revving up. Each day farther from Christmas makes it easier to get back into the swing of things. Lets hope it not a t... Thu, 3 Jan 2013 22:46:45 EST I'm Back......... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5187309 So today is the first day with most of my co-workers back in the office. I was so getting used to the peace and quiet. Now it gets busy.

Isn't it funny how we keep thinking that our lives are going to be easier once the new year begins...and then the new year starts and it just stays hectic.

So I am taking a deep breathe...staying focused....live in the moment. Wed, 2 Jan 2013 23:47:45 EST It's off to a good year! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5184390 Today started off on the right note...with friends. After a quiet New Years Eve, we had the good fortune to start the day with good friends. It's was a wonderful time.

I have great hopes for this year but none of its worth much without the love and support of family and friends. So this was a great day.

Hope that you all had great evenings last night. My wish for you...that 2013 will be a wonderful one for you.

Blessings Tue, 1 Jan 2013 17:19:00 EST Something Ends, Something Begins.....its all good! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5182562 So today is the very last day of 2012. While I look at the year with mixed emotions....some of this year was great...others...well, not so! Still, it is always with a sense of sadness when we say goodbye and step into the great unknown - 2013.

So I wanted to do a quick recap of the year and give you just a little of my wisdom gained from having gone through this 58 times.

1) The Mayans were wrong. When I woke up on the morning of December 21 I realized that Mayans we... Mon, 31 Dec 2012 17:16:04 EST A day of calm! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5180706 It's Sunday, it's a little snowy, cold...just the sorta day one stays at home and vegs. That's what I am going to do today!

So it will be a few football games, the number 1 match rerun on tennis channel (Love 30) and a walk with the dogs. It's all good. Hope everyone gets to have a calm and restful day.

Blessings Sun, 30 Dec 2012 10:13:37 EST Putting things away! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5179720 Today is the day I begin the process of putting things away. After spending days getting ready for the holidays, now is the time to beginning repacking and restoring the house to its normal appearance. Funny thing about the process is that no matter how much you try to put things back the way they were, it always ends up just a little different. And you know what? That's not a bad thing.

I look at this time of the year as an opportunity to see things differently as I go about n... Sat, 29 Dec 2012 10:50:53 EST Getting back into my routine http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5179285 Today was my first day back in the gym after a few weeks layoff. It hurts just a little, boy, one forgets how even a small break from your routine can set you back.

The gym was very quiet (semester break) and I had no problem getting access to the track or the machines...so I had no excuse for not getting my workout in.

It's all good, I have the weekend to recuperate. Fri, 28 Dec 2012 21:41:37 EST Back in the real world? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5178216 Today was my first day back....it was so quiet. Normally our office has about 25 people, today only 5. talk about silent night.

So after a wonderful Christmas and a day to recuperate I am getting back into the work mode and that also means that all the extra stuff that was sent our way, cookies, sugar, cakes, candies etc...are slowly making their way into the trash can.

Today I weighed in and believe it or not, I only added 1 pound. I was so pleased. Now it is back... Thu, 27 Dec 2012 22:32:26 EST There's got to be a morning after.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5176460 All of you old enough to remember that song from the Poseidan Adventure (what a great disaster flick) will probably think that today's post is going to be about some horrendous story from yesterday. Sorry, but yesterday was great. Having a day filled with loved ones, great food, and new memories is always good in my book.

But, as with anything, there is indeed a morning after when we begin the clean up from the day before and have a moment to reflect on what just happened. I kno... Wed, 26 Dec 2012 09:20:06 EST Merry Christmas http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5175761 Its Christmas! I hope all the scurry was worth it! Every year I say I am going to stop, but each season I get all wrapped up in the season. Today, it was worth it. The joy of seeing the smiles and happiness when what you thought was a good gift was indeed a good gift makes it worth the hassle.

But lest you think it's about things, it is more than anything about family, loved ones, and creating that arsenal of wonderful memories that carry you through the rough patches.
... Tue, 25 Dec 2012 10:00:06 EST There is a reason! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5175032 So today is Christmas Eve! I sure hope that you are ready for the whirlwind of activities that culminate tomorrow when we celebrate this special day. I was thinking back around what led to me even being on this site, the day that I realized I needed to get some control over my life. On that day I hit an all time weight high - 228 lbs - and I realized that the lethargy and health complications were not going to stop by themselves - someone needed to take control. That someone was me!
... Mon, 24 Dec 2012 09:29:22 EST All wrapped up! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5173477 One of my favorite things to do this week is wrapping presents. I actually really enjoy it. It's a lot of fun sitting upstairs in the TV Room watching holiday specials and wrapping all those items I have been collecting since last December 26th (if I remember where I put them).

Call me crazy but it is always fun deciding which paper to use for which person, what kinda ribbon, curling or bow, what kinda tag, it's all a great big puzzle that I get to ponder over for a few hours eac... Sat, 22 Dec 2012 07:29:58 EST This is a transition day for many of my friends! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5172661 Today is a significant day for many of my friends. They are graduating from college. They have worked hard on getting to this day and I hope that it will always be one of the crowning moments in a life of crowning moments. I certainly remember the day I graduated, it amost certainly was a moment of great pride in my family. It will be for my friends as well.

As with anything worth achieving, it takes time, effort and support, not only individually but collectively. So today I ... Fri, 21 Dec 2012 07:43:44 EST The sugarplum conspiracy! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5171917 I have been surrounded by the things I crave and love and my resistance is crumbling quickly.

Yesterday I came into my office to a bag of the most amazing lemon butter cookies. Monday it was the office cookie exchange. Tuesday someone made a homemade batch of caramel pecan popcorn! HELP!!!

I think it is a secret conspiracy from all those fiends who have decided I need a respite from my diet! Well it's working.

So I have given myself a little leeway this we... Thu, 20 Dec 2012 10:26:01 EST The mood is finally starting to catch up to me! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5170869 It's been a busy holiday season. Lots of work and social commitments that have driven me over the past month. These things that keep me busy have also taken some to the profound joy out of this time of year. But, I think it is finally starting to catch up with me.

Maybe it's the fact that it's just 6 days till Christmas (still my favorite holiday of the year) or maybe it's because I have seen the things that have been driving this season slowly slip by, one by one, leaving me wi... Wed, 19 Dec 2012 08:31:57 EST It's almost here! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5169585 So I am sitting here on my couch surrounded by my two dogs waiting for my significant other to come home from a rough day at the hospital. It seems that no matter how much you plan... Life seems to have other plans. So here I sit thinking its time to wrap presents, fix the tree, think about baking a few cookies...all those things I try to do around the holidays.

So here I continue to sit, writing a blog, petting the dogs, contemplating all the things I should do...and realize t... Mon, 17 Dec 2012 22:20:01 EST Putting things in perspective! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5167193 It was a sad day yesterday. To know that the promising lives of so many children were lost as well as the lives of committed adults who have spent a good portion of their lives ensuring our children move forward as educated knowledgeable citizens makes it a sad day for that small community in Connecticut and for our country.

As we move forward from this tragedy let us recommit ourselves to loving those around us just a little more, to remember to forgive each other as needed, but... Sat, 15 Dec 2012 10:23:16 EST it's Friday! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5166195 Friday is here, at last! It's one of my favorite days of the week. Not because it's the end of the work week (since I am a little bit of a workaholic) but because it means I have the weekend to recuperate from all the interaction I have with people.

I work at a job that requires constant interaction with people, all the time, from the moment I walk into the office on Monday, till the very end of my time on Friday. While I love that connection, by the end of the week, I need ti... Fri, 14 Dec 2012 08:00:27 EST Are we really that busy? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5165130 Last night I began thinking about how busy I am. This was after finishing up at church with two rehearsals...then over to my sisters for a 9:15pm dinner, running the two dogs around, then finally to bed.....only to get up and start again.

I wonder when it is that one loses a sense of perspective about all the things we do and just goes about from thing to thing ...somewhat mindlessly.

I think for my new years resolution I will try to be more mindfully on making the ... Thu, 13 Dec 2012 07:29:52 EST Don't you love this site? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5164023 This site is like a big piece of my favorite Christmas candy - chocolate fudge with walnuts!, why so you ask? Because, that little piece of heaven is just that because it is so satisfying, brings a lot of pleasure, and, seems like a fitting reward after a long stressful day. Exactly how I feel about SP. the wonderful positive people who offer advice and encouragement along the way are one of those amazing joys in life. While you may never replace that piece of fudge, you are certainly a ... Wed, 12 Dec 2012 07:18:18 EST Christmas.....oh what a joy! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5153372 So yesterday was one of those days. Spent most of the morning ringing bells at bell choir practice...for a concert just one week away. Spent even longer decorating the church to get it ready for the season...then saw all the ringers again for a potluck....and now the day starts over.

And I am thinking about the three doughnuts I ate....

While its easy to blame it on the season...all this business...in the end it's part of what makes this time of year so fun. Oh well, ... Sun, 2 Dec 2012 09:42:58 EST sore, really sore http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5110899 So yesterday I started my winter tennis class at the university...it was a great first class...great teacher and the class isn't to large and I learned stuff...now it's about remembering to practice what I am learning. Then last night I tried my very first exercise class. It is free week at the Rec Center...so I tried Tabata. It was an experience. I am so sore this morning...I don't think there isn't a part of my body that isn't protesting. The instructor had to modify some of the exerc... Wed, 24 Oct 2012 08:23:52 EST
