I do my 20 minute walk, and then stretched a bunch.

My first exercise was lat pulldown.. 2 X 8 X 110. I tend to use this to fully warm up my back, so while I could go up to 120, I am OK with 110, especially since I do 10 sets for back. After that I did cable rows for 2 sets of 8 X 110 also, and then 2 sets of barb... Thu, 17 Jul 2014 08:39:00 EST New record lifts/leg workout http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5739891 Today was leg day. For most people it sucks, and they get through it, but I have 26" legs, and love training them because they are strong. probably from carrying my heavy butt around at 300 + lbs. for a decade.

I started with 20 minutes on the treadmill. I cut down to 3.0 m.p.h., and added a 3.0 incline, just to do something different. I was watching a guy do set after set on the leg press, which was my first exercise, but he got off 3 mins. before I finished my walk. So I warmed ... Wed, 16 Jul 2014 08:21:35 EST Low carb exercise http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5738424 I eat low carb. Right now at 56 grams a day, with 13 grams being from fiber.

At the same time, I am attempting to work out 5 days a week, with 2 days of rest. So I was concerned that I might be lacking in energy for my workouts.

Today, I did Back, and triceps. I started with lat pulldowns and did 2 set of 110, then moved on to rows, and did 140 for 2 sets, then cable rows for another 2 sets of 110. I decided to add deadlifts because of recent lower back pain, so I did ... I am using serving size off the No Salt canned vegetables, so maybe I am off slightly on the servings, bit I think it is close enough.

Breakfast) 2 slices pineapple rings - 15g carbs .. 1 g fiber ( 1 serving )

Lunch ) 1 can No Salt tomatoes - 17.5 g carb .. 3.5 g fiber ( 3.5 servings )

Lunch ) 1/2 a white onion - 6.5 g carb .. 1.4 ... Fri, 13 Jun 2014 11:12:30 EST Life is getting better. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5715645 Today I woke up @ 4:15 a.m., but I was a bit short of breath, so I waited till I calmed down before hitting the gym @ 5:40. The reason for being short of breath is a combo of allergies, and eating too much sodium on my chicken and green beans last night. I was up to 181.2. I also tweaked my knee yesterday while doing the recumbent bike, and it swelled up on me last night. So I was contemplating going back to bed, but I got to the gym.

I did a 30 min walk at slower speed to make su... Wed, 11 Jun 2014 10:11:23 EST Dry eyes http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5713094 I think I finally have an actual " problem " with my LCHF diet. My eyes sting a little bit, and are very dry. I am in a very low carb cycle, and will see how high I need to go before this issue goes away, but I am hydrated ( at least 100 ozs a day ).

I go back up on Monday, so this will be a temporary issue, but I will probably slowly up carbs to see where it goes away. I had this issue a few weeks ago on my last very low carb cycle, and both times, I got below 20 total carbs. O... Sat, 7 Jun 2014 22:31:29 EST D-day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5711935 That right, it's National D-oughnut Day! I will be abstaining this year..lol.

Anyways, the day is going quite nicely. I hit the gym @ 5:08 a.m., and did a 90 minute walk/run , and traveled 5.96 miles. Then I tried out a few triceps, and rear deltoid exercises with low weight to see how they felt, so I can vary my workout tomorrow. Today was a cardio day, and I am going to start doing abs on these days ( every other day ). So I did 1 set of 50 crunches with 50 lbs. on the machine, ... Fri, 6 Jun 2014 08:57:38 EST Full of energy http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5710334 Today is day 11 since I got back on track, and after 3.5 days of being sluggish, I got a huge boost in energy. I have been doing over 90 minutes every day. In fact with my 90 minute walk/run today I think it was the shortest workout in a week.

I ran 6 minutes out of 90, and completed 5.72 miles, which is just over 3.8 m.p.h. average. I have been getting to the gym before 6 a.m. every day, and regulars are starting to recognize me, and say Hi. I have decided to split body into 2 wo... Wed, 4 Jun 2014 08:29:05 EST 170's!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5709558 Okay, only 179.8, just 8/10ths of a lb. since Friday, but I think I have slowed down most of all due to extra exercise, as well as getting close to goal weight.

Still, it is a new low, and I have been struggling to get below 180 for several months now. So I am happy. This morning, I went to the gym at 6 a.m., and did a 60 minute walk, then 14 sets of weight training. Chest, Back, hamstrings, and shoulders. I felt pretty good, but it is 100 % humidity here, so even at 6 a.m., I was... Tue, 3 Jun 2014 08:38:40 EST Great start to week http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5708702 I got into gym at 5 a.m., and did an 80 min walk @ 3.5 m.p.h. Next I moved on to 16 sets of arms, calves, and abs. This took 40 minutes, for a total of 120 minutes.

For biceps, I did 2 sets of 50 with barbell curls, and 2 sets of 22.5 alternating dumbbell curls.
For triceps I actually was able to do real dips 2 X 8, and by then my arms were shaking, so I did pressdowns for 2 sets of 60
Then I moved on to calf raises. Standing calf raises 12 X 80, and 10 X 100. The machin... Mon, 2 Jun 2014 08:21:04 EST end of week 1 results / goal for the next. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5708209 Today, I weighed in at 180.2, removing all but 2/10ths of a lb. of the weight I regained. That is down 5.4, despite having salty wings ( 20 ), for lunch last night. So I didn't lose weight from yesterday to today.

My friend lost 3.5 lbs. following low carb ...160.5 to 157, but he eats 2000 calories a day, and 180 grams of protein, so lower fat. He also lifts very heavy, and may be gaining muscle. Most of all, he says he feels wonderful.

My brother is now 329, after qu... Sun, 1 Jun 2014 16:19:24 EST DOMS http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5707541 I am super sore in my quads, and hamstrings, which I worked out yesterday. Calves, and biceps never hurt me. I got to gym at 8 a.m. and did a 60 minute walk, and could feel my muscles flexing, and it ached. It felt great..lol. I finished that, and went to do Back, and did 2 sets of lat pulldowns @ 90 lbs ( up from 80 ), then 2 sets of rows @ 50 ( just added them today ). I moved on to Chest next, and was going to do 2 sets of 90, but upped the second set to 110. I keep wanting to lift my body... Sat, 31 May 2014 15:01:31 EST Trading ideas.. weight training/diet http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5706651 I have a friend who owns a pizzeria, and he noticed he was gaining weight. So he went on a high protein diet ( 200 g a day ), and had gotten down to 160.5, from 180 ish. He was having trouble choking down the protein shakes, and chicken breasts, so was having trouble sticking to the diet.

At 26, he is younger, and fitter than me, so even at 160.5, he is muscular, and can bench 275, so in the gym, he is pretty good. He is thinking of getting a trainer's license, and setting up con... Fri, 30 May 2014 09:14:55 EST Energy boost http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5706620 Today I woke up at 6 a.m. No alarm, just woke up refreshed. I restarted Atkins on Sunday, at 185.6, and I am down to 180.6 today. I was feeling pretty tired till late Wednesday. I was napping in the afternoon, and woke up, and went to do a workout at 7:40 p.m. I had tons of energy, and yesterday I did a 30 minute bike ride, a 60 minute walk, and then went later back to gym to do a 30 minute walk on treadmill, but that much moving, must have made my meals shake loose, because I spent about 2 ... Fri, 30 May 2014 08:47:37 EST Carb creep http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5706003 Over the past 2 months, I have been slipping up on an almost daily basis. While cycling up to 60 grams of carbs a day, I would find myself having a little extra of some carbs, such as 6 ozs. of raspberries, instead of 3 ozs., or 3 ozs. of macadamia, instead of 2. Maybe I would be bored, and go buy some cheese and eat the whole 8 ozs. , while watching TV. All this food is allowed on low carb, but I would just overdo it a little. I stall if I eat more than 4 ozs. of cheese a week, for example. ... Thu, 29 May 2014 11:49:29 EST Test results http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5657288 Today, I got my test results from my doctor that were taken on the 5th of this month.

My Hemoglobin A1C was 5.0, which is the lowest ever for me, so I was pretty happy. It has now been below 5.4 for 3 full years, and 4 without meds.

Next I had my cholesterol, which I have only been off the medicine for 1 year, so was a little worried. After cutting off my Lovastatin, once my HDL went up to 37, it had dropped back down to 33, and I was worried that if it fell below 30, t... Wed, 26 Mar 2014 20:06:50 EST Another week over http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5656498 Today is 10 weeks till my next doctor visit, and I weighed in at 182.0, down just .4 lbs.

This week I got a gym membership, and started working out a little. Tomorrow, I start my first full week of doing some lifting 4 days a week, if only 5 sets each workout, plus some cardio. I still plan on doing my walking outside, but they have recumbent bikes, and doing 30 minutes of that plus the weights will probably let my brother do his walking on the treadmill.

My brother h... Tue, 25 Mar 2014 20:12:11 EST gym membership http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5654608 My friend told me about his gym, which is also close by, and just $99 down, and $9 a month. We went there, and the first thing we saw when we walked in was that it was dark. As in barely able to see. Then the guy wouldn't tell me what the payment schedule was ( he finally did ), but instead asked me to fill out a survey... what my fitness goals were, how many times a week I planned to work out etc. I said " No Thanks! I just want to know what the cost is ", so he told me, and I said I had a f... Sun, 23 Mar 2014 13:28:47 EST Sugary late night dessert http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5651428 I caved and ate a dish that was loaded with sugar, and so sweet, I consider it to be dessert.

You might think I ate some ice cream, or cake, and washed it down with Pepsi ( yes, I still crave Pepsi ).

But no, what I ate was my brother's Crunchy Granola Raisin Bran, with skim milk. I probably ate about 3 cups of cereal, and 2 cups of milk. This was after midnight. I ate the cereal ( 60 g sugar ), and then proceeded to drink the milk ( 22 g sugar ), but the milk had a... Wed, 19 Mar 2014 09:46:48 EST 11 weeks to next doctor visit http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5650883 Been off track a few times these past 2-3 weeks, so not really much to talk about. I did go to my doctor, and my BP was up to 108/70, but that is still good.

Today I weighed in at 182.4, which is down one lb. in a little over 2 weeks, but I had gained back about 5. Weight loss has slowed way down, so I need to be more strict to lose 1/2 a lb., and one cheat wipes out the rest of the week, even after re-losing water weight.

My exercise has been great. I recently started... Tue, 18 Mar 2014 15:47:47 EST 13 weeks to next goal. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5637353 Down another 1.2 to 183.4

I weighed in this afternoon, and was feeling great. Then I ate some pizza, and feel bad right now. I can turn down pepperoni pizza after having worked at a pizzeria for 20 years, but I stopped in today, and they were eating a Philly steak pizza. It was delicious. I am not going to lie. Right now, I feel bloated, and my stomach hurts, but otherwise okay, and ready to get back on track again. I am cooking up a few chicken thighs, because eating low carb help... Sun, 2 Mar 2014 01:35:40 EST 14 weeks to go. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5630524 Down another 1.2 lbs. to 184.6, which is an all new low. I am feeling okay. Got a check-up on my ICD ( inter-coronary device ), and the past week, I have been switching into A-fib, and this is why I am short of breath. My atrium is beating fast, and this makes me feel like I am running all the time. I had the same problem in December 2010, but it was much worse. I couldn't even take a shower, or I would be gasping for breath. I am still walking daily, and eating well, and although it has been... Fri, 21 Feb 2014 23:40:44 EST Week 3 is over. 15 weeks to go. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5625855 This week I lost .8 lbs. I am down to 185.8, and diet is going well. Exercise is suffering, because I have a twinge in my chest for the past 2 days. It is getting better, and I have cut out my salted vegetables, as well as mixed vegetables, and going back to unsalted veggies, and adding 1/4 tsp. to a dish if I need salt. The end result is less sodium, but the food is saltier to the taste.

The mixed vegetables has 1015 mg of sodium, but tastes bland, whereas I can have No Salt toma... I got about 25 books out last visit, and took my time reading them, and when I went back Wednesday to get more books, I find out I have $32 in fines. They charge $.25 a day per book now. So I paid, and got 10 more books, and read 7 so far, with 3 more to go. I'll go back on Wednesday and... Sun, 9 Feb 2014 03:22:46 EST Week 1 is done. 17 to go. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5612703 This week I lost 1.2 lbs, and am down to 187. I started adding some pull-ups to my exercise, and was amazed that I could do 2 sets of 10. I do them on my walks at a park on the way back home, and it feels pretty good. I would say how long it has been since I could do pull-ups, but back in 8th grade gym, I couldn't do any.

So I was feeling pretty good, and had gotten down to 186.6, and my brother had some popcorn. Sun, 2 Feb 2014 03:05:22 EST update on my brother http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5609013 My brother is still experiencing pain in his chest and back, but the doctors now think it is a pulled muscle, or a tear. They took blood 4 times, and the enzyme to detect heart attacks never got above .001, and .008 is when they consider it a danger. His EKG's looked great, and he is scheduled for a stress test this morning, and if that comes out okay, they say he can go home.

I know it is feeling a little better, because he asked me to cook his chicken up, but I think it is mainly... Wed, 29 Jan 2014 09:36:17 EST My brother is in the hospital. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5608765 I have been on track all week, and been feeling great, and my brother has been eating well all week too, since we usually cheat together. I was out with friends, and got a call from the fire dept. They were taking him to the hospital, and had no way to lock up the house, so I had to get back, and 2 firefighters waited to make sure that no one would break into my apartment. When i showed up, they were just pulling out from in front of the building. We still have 6" snow on the sidewalks, and 4... Wed, 29 Jan 2014 00:37:11 EST 18 week challenge ( to myself ) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5605196 I find that I do better with a goal, or deadline to reach ( even if I miss the goal ).

So while I did not reach 185 by my birthday, I did reach below 200 ( my original goal ), and was 190 a week ago. I had gotten down to 185.8, but have been hovering for a couple weeks now.

Today I sit at 188.2, and feel pretty good. So I was changing my goal on my START page, since I am past my 40th, and since I am losing so slowly, thought weekly official weigh-ins would be best. So I... Sat, 25 Jan 2014 11:21:21 EST Over the hill. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5597220 Not that I am complaining. I hate climbing. The last 10 years have been tough. Downhill, sounds pretty good..lol.

I made it back to 190 even today, a bit short, but I was eating off plan several times, so I am okay with it.

I am comparing 40 to when I was 30, and if I improve health-wise as much in the next 10 years, I will win multiple gold medals, and the NBA Finals MVP in 2024 at 50. Hopefully, it is summer Olympics, because I hate the cold.

For starters,... Fri, 17 Jan 2014 16:35:50 EST 1 more week till my birthday. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5589251 Next Friday I hit 40. I have been losing good the past month or so, but seem to have hit a plateau or something. I am eating about 2,200 calories, and 60-70 grams of carbs daily, but my weight has slowly climbed back to 191, and last night I ate a fiber bar, and that led to 2, and I am at 194.6 today. Up 7.6 lbs in the last 8 days.

So today I went and bought some cabbage, 2 zucchini, mushrooms, and a bunch of green beans, and going to cut back to 40 grams of carbs on Monday, and ... Fri, 10 Jan 2014 13:16:39 EST My bad few days http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5587728 Actually it started last Monday. I slid on some snow outside my apartment, and twisted my back. So I have been in pain for a week. I have been soaking in tub, and taking Ibuprofen, which helps.

Then 4 days ago we got a foot of snow, and the temps dropped to -10 on Monday night. We still have that foot of snow in our parking lot, and on our sidewalks. I moved here so that I wouldn't have to walk through snow drifts, or dig my car out of the snow. Then Tuesday morning, my car did no... Thu, 9 Jan 2014 07:14:37 EST Cold as Hell http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5584137 Hell, MI that is. Both places are going down to -11 tonight.

Went to the mall to get my walking done, and it was about 10 degrees. Supposed to start dropping around noon, and tomorrow will be 0 for a high. Had to go to the bank, library, and get pills. The car had to be cleaned off 3 times yesterday, since we got about a foot of snow, but this morning only had about 3" on the car to clean, and started easily. The car is 5 years old, so before next winter, I will be getting a new b... Mon, 6 Jan 2014 10:37:25 EST Jan. 2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5579144 Happy 2014. Day 2 of the new year, and I am just getting over the flu. My muscles still hurt, but I am back on track. Weighed in at 187 exactly today, so I gained almost 2 lbs., but that is due to the holidays, and the flu ( chicken noodle soup.. canned ).

I went for a 1 hour walk today at the mall. Quite a few laps, but it is warm there. Outside, it is 13 and snowing. Today, I plan to buy some shoes at Famous Footwear, but have to wait till 10 a.m. for them to open. Then my plan i... Store hours are random, and T.V watching is non-existent, so I am cleaning, walking, reading, cooking, and Sparking. I was going through papers at 7 a.m. this morning, and cleaning out things from years past. Later, I plan to go through my clothes, and get rid of 75% of them. I bought some pants the other day, and think that I need to cut down now to the bare minimum, and buy a few more sets of clothes. I had a pair of pants that were 42" wa... Fri, 27 Dec 2013 12:24:22 EST 5 days till New Years http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5572690 I had a weird day today. I went to bed on Christmas at 9:17 p.m., which was incredibly early for me. I slept until 7 a.m. I woke up with a sore back, which was probably from oversleeping, and my ankle hurt, which was probably from over-consuming sugar ( gout ).

Both went away within an hour of waking. I went for a 45 minute walk, and then had breakfast. After that I did a resistance band and weight workout. Then I decided I needed some peas for my meal that I was cooking, and that... Fri, 27 Dec 2013 00:36:40 EST Yuletide (b)log http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5571669 I have had a couple of rough days with my diet, but for some reason, I can't seem to gain any weight. I weighed in at 189.4 today, and re-weighed twice just to be sure. Last night, I helped my friend at the pizzeria, because his Dad got the flu, and was in the hospital. His Dad had a stroke earlier this year. It was slow, so I spent most of the night, eating cookies out of a bucket. Actually 3-4, but why do people make so many cookies at one time? I can't lie, they tasted awesome. Plus, I had... We showed up, and met in the parking lot, and when we went in, I wondered if I was getting any breakfast. All I saw was a store..lol. We finally made our way back around to the dining room. After 15 minutes, they took our orders, and I decided to " splurge ", and have some chocolate milk. After all, it was the holidays. Milk is hardly that bad, right? They brought me a glass, and two pints of chocolate milk. Yep, in the carton. Wow! ... Mon, 23 Dec 2013 10:25:59 EST almost Christmas http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5569242 Been up for a while now. Did a 45 minute walk really early in the mist. It is about 35 and misting is the best word. Hasn't frozen, so at least it wasn't too bad. Warm at least. Then I went grocery shopping, and have done a batch of clothes. Finally, I got to eat. Had my mushroom omelette, and a 4 oz. cup of unsweetened applesauce. All by 10 A.M.

I stopped by my brother's job yesterday, and was talking to the owner, who used to be one of my drivers. Of course, I only got down to 188.6, so never really had a chance to be in the 180's there. I groaned, and the nurse looked surprised and said " That's great!, you lost 20 lbs ", so I had to laugh, since I wasn't going to explain the groan..lol.

My BP was 94/68 which is about normal. I spent an hour there, and spoke to the doctor for about 30 minutes, eve... Mon, 16 Dec 2013 15:11:52 EST Friday the 13th http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5563723 Woke up early and did my walk, then I ate breakfast, and Sparked some more. The day worries me, since my brother just left for work, and gets off at 1 a.m. Snow expected tonight, starting at 11 p.m. and he is a pizza driver. His gout is doing better, and his toe is almost pain free now. He got his final grades, and was 4.0 this semester, so things are looking great.. 8 more hours of Friday the 13th though..lol.

I slept another 3.5 hours this afternoon, and woke up to cook my brothe... Fri, 13 Dec 2013 16:40:14 EST Goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5563531 I have been reading Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution again, and something I read really made me stop and think. He said " you may be selling yourself short by setting goals that are too modest "

As I get within sight of my goal weight, I find that I am not happy with how I really look. Some has to do with loose skin, but at 192, I have some muscle, and veins showing, but not what i would consider " fit ". I set my goal for 164 based on the Atkins books BMI chart.. 5'8" is 164 at a 2... Fri, 13 Dec 2013 11:13:24 EST Doctor's visits/daily blog http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5562848 I have a doctor visit coming up on Monday. I am always in a panic as they approach, even though the news is usually good these days. Most times, I cheat the night before, but I am going to make sure that doesn't happen this time. My goal is to be in the 180's AT the doctor's office. This would be a HUGE drop. I had to be 210-220 last visit.

Currently I am at 193.8, and have no idea why I bumped up 2 lbs., but sure it is water weight. I forced myself to not cut out my 6 ozs of blac... Thu, 12 Dec 2013 11:27:24 EST Studies http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5562313 I saw this on CNN, and laughed so hard, I think I burned 43 calories. Here's a link to the story.

www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1
255606/Why-frozen-vegetables-fresher-f
resh.html

Here is the only part worth paying attention to.

" The study on the loss of vitamins and nutrients was conducted by the Institute of Food Research on behalf of frozen food giant Birds Eye. ".

Imagine that! The frozen food people did a study, a... Wed, 11 Dec 2013 17:57:28 EST Superfit chickens? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5560410 The past two years, I have been eating chicken from the Amish store, near where I live, and during the winter months have noticed that the chicken parts are smaller. In my house, we eat around 2.5 lbs of chicken daily, which during summer is 12 thighs, but now I am having to cook 16 thighs to get the same weight.

At first I considered that the chickens heard that fat turkeys were slaughtered in late November, so they started watching their weight, so the same disaster did not befa... Mon, 9 Dec 2013 10:26:25 EST Cabbage soup, and other things http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5558748 I decided to have cabbage today. 1/2 a head cooked in chicken broth with 6 chicken thighs diced, 2 T olive oil, and a can of diced tomatoes, split into two meals for my brother and I. So 1/4 of a head of cabbage each. This turned out to be a LOT of cabbage.

I woke up, went for my walk, and ate my eggs. I read some of my political mysteries this afternoon ( by Ed Gorman ). Then I cooked up lunch. I thought it might be a problem when I cut it up, because it was so much. I had cooked... Fri, 6 Dec 2013 23:56:54 EST Beans, beans good for the heart! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5554291 Not sure if this is true..lol. I am pretty sure the label on the bag is a complete fabrication. It says 23 g carbs, 15 g fiber. SP has the fiber in 1/2 cup cooked at 19 g carbs, about 6 g fiber.

Then I hear the " quick rinse ", isn't even cooking. It's just prep ( an hour ). I think I then need to boil them more, until tender, like pasta. Heard it may be another hour? 198 I wonder if it will continue expanding as I cook. At what point do I measure them? The bag says 1... Sun, 1 Dec 2013 15:40:01 EST More carbs this weekend! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5553827 I have gotten down to 195.6. Today I am a lb over that, but I feel pretty good. We ate a lot of venison this week, so my brother is having gout problems. Hopefully in a few months that is behind him, as he continues eating like I do ( + oatmeal ).

I have kind of cut down on my protein this week, and upped carbs some. Instead of trying for some beans or something carby, in small quantities, I am just going to eat more vegetables.

I am still eating just over 2000 calorie... Sun, 1 Dec 2013 00:30:15 EST Are the good times really over http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5548957 Let's ask Merle Haggard.

I guess they aren't. That's good news. I do wish a Ford, and a Chevy would last 10 years.. like they should, but hopefully by now ( 30 years later ), men have learned to cook for themselves..lol.
The President still doesn't do what he said he would ( both parties ), but not going to happen. Maybe if we elect a woman?

Anyways.. this morning it is freezing, and I took a 30 minut... Sun, 24 Nov 2013 09:50:30 EST being overweight http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5546166 I got my walk done early, and sparked for a few hours, and just weighed in, since my breakfast is digested, and I am cooking lunch. I weighed in at 197.2 today, down from 199.8 2 days ago.. so a drop of 2.6.

I went and checked my BMI chart, and found out my BMI is 30.0 right now.. still obese. I need to lose anther 4/10ths of a lb..lol to get to 29.9, at 196.8.. than I will only be overweight.

The diet seems to be doing well, but unlike my brother, sodium has an effect... Wed, 20 Nov 2013 13:23:53 EST No plums, or berries http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5544276 I was hoping to add plums, and berries to my diet, but instead had to add black olives, and cheese to up carbs, and calories. Raspberries were very expensive, and plums aren't available. So I substituted 9 black olives, and 1.75 ozs sharp cheddar on 3 days, and have the 1/2 an apple the other 2 days. Not ideal, but I have to go with it for now. C'mon spring!

I am up to 2100-2350 calories a day, from 1850, and my carbs are between 37-53 a day. The increase in calories has dropped my...
