When I found out I was going to be going to CA late August 67 I started to look for a possible race to do right away. I was rather hoping for a half-marathon since I need the mileage at this stage of my marathon training but I did not find any. However, I did find a 12K on trials along beautiful undeveloped beach area in Santa Cruz. 141

<img src=" Sat, 6 Sep 2014 12:18:50 EST Summer Training ramping up! YAY! Sat, 15 Sep 2012 12:01:45 EST No Long Ritual No Long Run I don't know if everyone is this way but once I get past the half-marathon distance in marathon training I really have to prepare myself physically and psychologically if the run is going to happen. Each change in plans like this for me usually means it is less likely that I run. -Got up today 5:30 AM and procrastinated until 7...another change in the plan, garmin was dead another change..... I am training for a marathon and a triathlon this fall. At first I started at 1200-1600 calories and then I hit a plateau. I am burning 4000-5000 calories a week so I needed to add more food and as soon as I did my weight loss started up again. I am expecting now for things to slow down and I would like to lose .5 or 1 pound per week.

For me, I just keep it simple....burn more calories than I eat within reason! Fri, 27 Jul 2012 16:39:47 EST Older, Lighter, Faster... The last month or so has been a real turnaround for me. I have dropped 8 pounds after struggling with gaining and losing the same 3 pounds for more than a year. My running times are dropping after two years of various injuries and weight gain. So, I have been "on the wagon" now for a few weeks consistently following my calorie range and exercising like I fiend. I have lost 6 pounds.

Exercise is never the issue for me, I battle overeating and stress eating. Mon, 8 Mar 2010 15:15:23 EST Facing Challenges... but not giving up on my goals! 2010 here I come! I completed my first marathon since 2000 back in October with a PR! Running it in 4:25:55 was not very hard for me so I decided to register for another marathon in December the Dallas White Rock Marathon. Well about 2 weeks into my training for that I started to have severe back and later ankle and foot pain. I found out, after going to a sports medicine doctor and getting x rays that it was all related to my back issue. I have a spondylolisthesis in my L5-S1 area which means that my L5 verte... Thu, 7 Jan 2010 08:39:37 EST I did it! I hit the National Masters All American Standard for the 5K! When I first joined SPARK in May of 08 I had big goals. I would say they were definitely what you would call "stretch goals." In addition, to weight loss goals I had a number of running goals with the major one being to hit the National Masters All-American Standard in the 10K (48:19).

"The reason most people never reach their goals is that they don't define them, or ever seriously consider them as believable or achievable. I am 44 and have not completed a marathon since Chicago in 2000. My goal is to qualify for Boston before I am 50. Training for a marathon now that I nearly 10 years older than when I trained for the last one I did is different. However I can honestly say I feel that the training is going better. One reason is that I am at a very different phase of life having teenagers versus preschoolers! They want to see less of me not more of me so I do not have mother guilt being out on long runs and reco... Sun, 16 Aug 2009 08:55:50 EST Reigniting my spark! I am updating my goals and spark page. Today I ran a 5K race. I had not been planning on running it bit was feeling like my pace had been dropping in my training runs and I wanted to know what I could do in a 5K. My goal was to run under a 9 minute mile. I finished the race in 24:12 which is a 7:48 pace! I was so shocked and happy that all my hard work is really paying off. My goal of moving toward becoming a competitive Master's Runner is that much closer!
