ROXIT22222's SparkPeople Blog ROXIT22222's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Dedicating 2015 to Mom RIP 12/25/14

My mom a 23 year breast cancer survivor and fighter lost her fight early Christmas morning. 390

Early November my mom went on a bucket list trip to Disney World. Had a great 3 days, then she fell and things went on a slide from there. It was all she could do to make the day long flight from Florida to Portland. We had a impending snow/ice storm hitting early the next morning ... Sun, 4 Jan 2015 08:40:00 EST quietly loosing the weight Well I haven't been blogging much cause there isn't much to say. I've not been doing a lot of working out but I've been working with my nutrition coach, walking 30 min a day and other wise just trying to enjoy the small moments as they come. It's been so successful I'm a head of my weight loss goals for the month!

I just hit 161.8! I'm 4 lbs away from my all time low weight of 158. I hope to hit that my Nov 1st when my husband has a big dinner party and I need to look good!!!... Mon, 20 Oct 2014 09:04:26 EST Another race for the cure Well it was race for the cure weekend Sunday. My mom didn't have the strength to walk the whole thing so she was in a wheel chair for it this year. We all took turns pushing her along the way. My husband got to push her over the rail road tracks and the first set he did OK, the second set not so well. The front wheel caught in the track and she almost flipped out. OPPS! Happens all the time on the same tracks... you'd thin some one would learn. For the last mile it was my turn to push ... Mon, 22 Sep 2014 09:39:02 EST First two days back at work. Well it's the start of a new school year and that means back to work for me. It's a place that I can either succeed or fail nutrition wise. They have all kinds of stuff in the brake room especially the first week of school.

Working with my nutritionist my plan calls for me to eat every 3 hours (give or take a half hour) Not knowing when my brakes would be or what I could expect we came up with a game plan. A few 100 calorie snacks that I could quickly eat during a 'bathroom... Sat, 6 Sep 2014 10:48:44 EST Week Two Well I've been on my nutrition plan for two weeks now. I must say it's working! Has it been easy? NO! But the weight loss each week is a reward worth going another week.

Part of the nutrition plan that I'm adapting this time around again is no drinking alcohol of any kind. The quote this past week has been "I picked a fine time to quit drinking". UGH!

The "Kid" (my step daughter that's been in my life sense she was 2) who is now 18, graduated high school headed ... Tue, 2 Sep 2014 10:16:57 EST Hired a health/nutrition Coach Well a few weeks before Lake Stevens I met with and talked to a health/nutrition Coach. She is someone who will 'hold my hand' while I watch my nutrition and healthy eating choices. Someone I can send text and facebook messages to along the way.

We developed my nutrition plan to start after I did Lake Stevens. Armed with my menu and plan I started it Monday morning right after the race. August 18th. It takes into account post race time when you don't do a whole lot of stuff... Tue, 26 Aug 2014 11:22:30 EST What a summer Well it's been a while. I'm sure no one has missed me on here. But I find blogging helpful for myself motivation, and to look back and the highs and lows.

So I left off that I had done my first half Marathon, and was training for my first Half Ironman! So let's first catch up with those. The simple way.

Training for the half Ironman, while working full time took a lot of time! I was working out in the morning before work and again after work then I'd crash and sleep... Tue, 26 Aug 2014 10:32:59 EST First half of the year Saturday was my first race of the year. I had originally been going to do the shamrock run but developed asthma and couldn't race that weekend. So with the asthma under control and back on training I set off for my first half of the year. The hop hop half. It's a flat run on a walking path on the water edge.

I told my husband that he could ride his bike while I was off on the run, just be back in 2 hours or so to see me cross the finish line. He took off before the race star... Mon, 21 Apr 2014 09:12:47 EST 10 mile run Friday I had the day off of work! 244 There are not many of them for the rest of the year. So full time working, full time half Ironman training, and working on fundraising putting together a Gala event is going to be my life for the next 2 months.

The weather was great on friday and we had a meeting set up to talk to someone about catering a Gala event. It's going to be small in that the venue can only hold 100 people, and well that's fine with me. Small and si... Sun, 13 Apr 2014 06:50:36 EST Half Ironman Training: Well it's a night of insomnia so I thought I'd get you all caught up on my training so far.

Some where after September of last year I lost my motivation for working out. I still wanted to and I had signed up for a half Ironman in August of this coming year. But working out wasn't fun anymore. Well over the corse of time weight gained and you know the downward spiral.

As the start of triathlon season approached I was slowly getting back into it but still struggling. ... Tue, 8 Apr 2014 07:00:57 EST Checking in I'm not on here much anymore. Life has become quite busy. I had a spontaneous moment a few months back and signed up with team in training to do a half Ironman 2 months before the other one I am planning to do! Crazy YES!

I then developed Asthma and have had some set back along the way but have gotten it managed and I'm able to train again. At the same time I was offered a long term job for the rest of the school year. So I am working full time, while training full time. <BR... Mon, 7 Apr 2014 09:43:52 EST A plan has been made. So I spent most of the day yesterday working on my plan for the next 7 and a half months. It's a big plan. I will be training for the biggest longest race to date. I will be doing a Half Iron Man! 40 In the middle of August.

I'm excited and scared at the same time. I know I can do it, I will have to train for it but I know I can. I have done all of the parts and peaces of it in the past. Just not all at the same time. I also what much skinnier than too. <BR... Fri, 24 Jan 2014 09:09:48 EST Confession time Hi everyone. I'm back on here, going to be blogging a bit more again. Not quite sure how often yet. Got to figure out the best balance of blogging tracking and living life healthy.

A year and a half ago I was with in 5 lbs of my goal weight. We went on a great vacation. I indulged just a bit. Came home and my daughter graduated high school a year and a half late. So we had a big party! Before getting back on track I started working full time with different hours than befo... Wed, 22 Jan 2014 09:58:09 EST Fitness minute oddness. OK I have been working out. But not that much! I just dusted off, and charged up my body bug thing. I forgot it auto syncs here. Those fitness minute are from some time last year. I haven't worn the tracker in about 6 months. Oh well.

I guess it shows that I'm making strides to get back at it. And get back to being serious. So much to catch up on with you all... But for now I'll leave it at this.

I have a big race I am training for. It is in August. Tue, 21 Jan 2014 22:43:10 EST A simple recap of 2013 2013 Races

15k Shamrock run 248
Did this in better weather, and a little slower, but had a better recovery.

100K bike ride 248
Monster cookie ride. Always a good time. Felt stronger and faster on this ride.

Triathlon sprint 248
Did 2 of these, a pool one, and a open water sprint. The pool I came in 6th in my age group, the open water one I came in 3rd place!

Rock n Roll 1/2 marathon ... Sat, 11 Jan 2014 11:21:58 EST The triathlon with out a swim This weekend was the Wahine all women's triathlon and Saturday and Co-ed Event on Sunday. Last year the Wahine one was my very first triathlon. This year I signed up for the Co-ed event as less women do this event and I'd have a better chance of podium.

Friday morning I awoke to the news that a lake in the area was closed due to Ecoli. It was not the lake that we are to swim in. It's actually across the river in Washington State. Later that evening I get a text from my girl ... Mon, 5 Aug 2013 13:30:09 EST Weekends big adventure. This weekend Saturday I went for swim at the pool. 45 min was all I got in before it was time for their water aerobics class. We then spent the rest of the day cleaning out the garage.

Sunday was planned for a big bike ride. I need to start working on big hill work out's here. There is a 40 mile (round trip) ride right from my house that takes you 20 miles straight UP a big hill. Last time I went I got about 8 miles to the top. This time I made it 1.5 miles from the top. I'... Mon, 22 Jul 2013 15:32:46 EST triathlon training update I have officially signed up for my next triathlon. It's August 4th, at the same location as my last triathlon. This is a two day event with Saturday being a all women's event and Sunday being a Co-Ed event. I did the all women's one last year as my first tri-it. This year I picked the Co-Ed one.

I picked this event for a few reasons. After talking with a few people who know me and know the struggles I've had with swimming and overcoming that. The all women's one has a lot of ... Fri, 19 Jul 2013 10:19:01 EST My big swim, and my friends big run We went back to the lake this weekend. (Timothy Lake) I was actually up there from Wednesday night on. Donut man had to work Thursday so he commuted from the lake for the day. I was not aloud to swim with out him up there so I spent the morning Kayaking out in the lake. It was so peaceful up there.

Friday we had grand plans and well we did a morning Kayak and that was about all we did in the end. Some days you just need to relax around camp.

Thursday night while ... Mon, 15 Jul 2013 13:08:23 EST Update: Well I got a nice reminder that I left you all hanging with a status update. So to catch up a bit on what is going on.

I got put on the injured reserve list by my dr last week. I've been having a tightness in my foot that is worse as the day goes on. There was a possibility that I may have a stress fracture in it. So I was told not to run or do any weight bearing activity for at least a week. This was 4 days before I was to run a 1/2 marathon. So with sadness I listened and d... Wed, 10 Jul 2013 10:16:52 EST Concerts, Bike rides, Race, and Triathlon. What a Weekend I had.

Friday night we went to a concert. Bad Co, and Lynyrd Sknyrd. Now I've been to a few concerts in my life. And around here when you go to a concert people stand for the first few songs and then sit for the rest of them. OMG not this concert. They stood for the whole thing! 4 hours of standing! All I could think of was man my legs well be tired in the morning. The concert itself was great and we had a good time. Didn't get home until midnight and had... Tue, 25 Jun 2013 09:27:24 EST 5k race tomorrow. Well that seams odd to write for me. 5k race. Yah I do those, but usually after a swim and bike ride. 5k is a warm up run for me. I'm not meaning to brag or sound snobby. But when you've gotten to the level of Endurance Athlete (even if you are a slow one) a 5k run isn't some thing I normally pay to run in now.

This race is a special one for me. Two years it was the very first run/race I did. Little did I know that it would spark something in me and I'd take off from there. ... Fri, 21 Jun 2013 15:29:19 EST Triathlon Training Update. I'm thinking Fridays will be good days to up date you all on the past weeks training plans. Fridays are my 'rest days' from working out. A day I come to look forward to.

Saturday: was race day.

Sunday I did a light 2 mile bike ride and walked around and watched the Oly triathlon. The one I had planned to do. I felt no regrets having not done that race. I still want to. Next year. I wasn't ready this year.

Monday: 6 mile pace run on the pre core to stre... Fri, 14 Jun 2013 09:11:04 EST Fat and Fit This is something I've struggled with for some time now. When I first started this journey just over two years ago. I was 2:25 lbs. I was not happy and I could hardly walk the short path way to the beach in Hawaii. We had great plans on that trip to do a bunch of hiking, and well that never happened as I couldn't walk far from the car. May 10th, 2011 I hit rock bottom. I started small, a walk around the block.

During the first year I would Hike a lot, almost every day putti... Wed, 12 Jun 2013 10:45:11 EST Blue Lake Triathlon. I want to say this was my first real triathlon. The last two that I have done have had shorter swim distances and where not true sprints.

I had been training for an Olympic distance. However do to illnesses and other things my swim training got behind schedule. I wasn't feeling confidant in swimming a mile in the open waters. So I singed up for the sprint distance instead. No regrets there.

To say I was nervous going into this was an understatement. Petrified wou... Tue, 11 Jun 2013 06:37:19 EST The starlight run I hadn't planned to do this run. I've been focussing on my up coming triathlon the coming weekend. Saturday my plan had me doing an open water swim practice. (I suck!) and a short run. Well that was the day of the starlight run. I made a comment about it to my husband and he said 'why aren't you?" Me cause I didn't think about it.

WELLL>.. a quick post of Facebook at 6:30 am landed me a free entry to the run! I guess I was suppose to do it. Me and 7,000 people! OMG.. I H... Mon, 3 Jun 2013 20:01:51 EST Getting back on track My computer has been acting up as of late. It says my 'start up disk is full'. OK it's a Mac, that means my hard drive memory storage is full. yada yada must clean up a bunch of stuff. So I alway start with pictures first. I seam to always fine some I can delete that where taken from my phone and aren't needed or aren't good.

In the process of going thru the photos I looked back at what I looked like a year ago! It's the same pictures that are on my blog. I found the differe... Thu, 23 May 2013 10:47:44 EST Rock N Roll the Race Friday I drugged myself down to the fitness fair to get my swag bag. Then on Saturday I went back again with my sister in law. Saturday I wasn't feeling very well at all and I wasn't sure if I was going to make the run. At the fitness fair I found a holder for my phone that would strap to your hand so you could carry it with out holding it. I've been looking for something like this for a while. So I got that. ( I know nothing new on race day... but this isn't really new)...

... Mon, 20 May 2013 17:59:20 EST Rock n Roll 1/2 marathon race Pre race issue As I sit here recovering from the race yesterday I thought it would be a good time to do a recap.

Events leading up to the race. Well my last long run was about a month and a half ago. I did a great 2 hours on the precore (about 10 miles). Things kind of went down hill from there. The next week while doing the Boston Solidarity Run (it was a 2 miler should of been easy) I was having a hard time. I couldn't get my breathing right ect. Went swimming the next day and couldn't b... Mon, 20 May 2013 11:20:58 EST Boston Solidarity Run Portland Style When I heard about the bombing at the Boston Marathon like many others, I was in such shock. One of my first thoughts was for the runners, my next thought was of my husband, my support person, the guy who is at the finish line of every race waiting for me while I'm off running. It was those people that died. The spectators who make the races a little more fun. The family and friends who support your crazy training schedule and your odd eating habits. For many Boston is the pinnacle of ma... Thu, 18 Apr 2013 16:52:18 EST Hard 24 hour day topped of my a great night. Tuesday I had a awesome work out/and eating day! Everything lined up right. Wednesday morning we got up early and went for our hour of power hike. That went good. I was sore form the day before and so I was 3 min slower. Awe can't PR every time. I worked on Wed, and did great with the food there too.

Then Wed night hit. I was suppose to go swimming, well I was tired and worn out from the day before and work and, and and... Husband was working so I was on my own for dinner (... Fri, 12 Apr 2013 12:11:52 EST hour of power.. then some When the hour of power hike only takes 40 min what is a girl to do? Donut man was on a time frame, so... I came home and "hiked" on the pre core for 10 min to make it an hour. Then I saw that I was about 200 calories short of 1,000 calories burned for the day, and if I 'ran' on the pre core for a bit I could make that before 8:00am! So I ran. When I hit that goal, I saw I was only 1/2 a mile from having 5 miles in for the day. So I kept going! I then saw that I was at 18 min of vigoro... Tue, 9 Apr 2013 11:19:03 EST Weekends activity's Well here we are again at Monday. This week I'm not working as much! 104 So I'll have more time for ME!

This weekend we celebrated my step daughters birthday. It was 2 weeks ago but this is when we could have the party for her. It was a weekend long deal that had her having a facial, a massage, and getting some cool gifts.

Saturday was swim class for me. I haven't been to swim class in about 3 weeks. Due to birthdays and Easter, and I haven't swam... Mon, 8 Apr 2013 09:53:35 EST Track work out Last night was the first night with the new running group out in my area. I was nervous as always, but not as bad as I've been in the past. I'm getting more use to going and meeting new people and new experiences. This one I did all by myself. 40

I timed the drive to the track. Seriously 5 min was all it took! LOVE that. Compared to the hour drive to the other track work out place. For the past year or so I have looked for running groups to run with. I like running solo, but I like running race day with a group of people too. I find on race day I can find someone running my pace and I just follow along behind them and I can let my mind go, and get lost in the rhythm.

Problem is I live on the east side of the area. There is NOTHING out here. Yet there should be. I have googled and looked. Short of 'meet up . com' groups. nothing. And I didn't want to... Thu, 28 Mar 2013 14:33:02 EST Tuesdays check in Just a quick blog.

Yesterday was a do nothing day. I had lots to do but I did nothing. We are having a hard time getting over my brother in laws death. And the late winter isn't helping. Now we don't have the snow like others do, but we have our grey gloomy clouds all around. No great sunshiny days yet. I'm ready for one.

This morning to try and help get us back on track and focus. We got up early and went for our morning hike up MF. I wasn't feeling to good. Sun, 24 Mar 2013 17:50:44 EST Morning hike up MF Well as work is quieting down some (I have a week and a half off right now) today we decided it would be a good day for a early morning hike. So off we went at the donut hole crack of dawn.

I haven't hiked all year and I'm not sure when the last hike was. Oct maybe? It really has been a very long time.

As always we must time our selfs. To the top in 23 min, back down (not running) in a grand total of 45! I will take that~!

This is birthday weekend... Thu, 21 Mar 2013 12:12:34 EST Post Race recovery Well I got a 30 min on the pre core Monday done. Tuesday my legs where just shot! So it was a self declared rest day. Today is back at it. UGH.. I think I have post race cobwebs in my head. Also I'm working today and I don't want to work. I'm so burnt out from working and I need about 2 weeks to unwind from all of that before I start to function properly again. Can't explain how that works for me but it does. I guess the good news is I work 1/2 a day today, and then I'm off for a week... Wed, 20 Mar 2013 09:32:57 EST Race Report: Shamrock Run 2013 Well I did it, it's over and it was quite a day!

Saturday night I had the same meal I had the night before the run last year. YUMMY as good as I remember it being. I was not nervous or excited it was kind of odd. I new I was ready for it but not going to bust it for sure.

My training runs I have been averaging about 11:30 min miles. Last year I did this run with a 11:07 mile pace. It is this coming Sunday the shamrock run. I just got done reading last years race report I did. Oh what a run. Fun to look back at the memories of that day. It helps to prepare for this years race.

The weather people are having fun teasing us with the weather this year. One day it says it will rain, the next it says it will be nice. Oh what ever. It will be warmer than las year, that is for sure.

The cool thing about t... Wed, 13 Mar 2013 09:09:56 EST Slowly getting back in the groove. Well it's thursday and I'd like to say that I've hike, run, biked, swam everyday. The reality NOT! Sunday we skied a LOT! 6 hours of skiing, of that 6 hours 3 where spent 'monkey wrestling'. (that's my nick name for my niece). I had some very scary crashes with her that left my hips very sore for 3 days. Yesterday was a mega bike work out and then I was to do track. With the weather I chose not to fight traffic and head into town for the track work out.

Today is a sunny ye... Thu, 7 Mar 2013 10:23:28 EST And I'm back.. thank you all. What a emotional last 2 weeks it's been.

It started the 18th with a phone call that my Uncle had been found by his wife (who had been on a mission trip) with kidney failer. Mon, 25 Feb 2013 09:18:03 EST What a weekend I LOVE OUR WEEKENDS! Donut man and I do so much fun stuff together. It amazes me what all we can get done in a weekend.

Friday night we went up to do some night skiing. It was a nice clear night and the stars and moon was out. Unfortunately it was warm so the snow was like skiing in wet concrete. We didn't get much skiing in but it was just enough that I got my 'exercise' min in. It was just a nice night for a sub sandwich and some quality time together out side of the house.... Mon, 18 Feb 2013 11:18:04 EST Getting help with my nutrition. So I've been struggling with the food for a while now. It actually all started when I started triathlon training hard last summer. I would eat as I had been then get light head then I'd eat too much. It became a vicious circle. I no longer could lose any weight and seamed to gain some instead.

As triathlon training is back in full force I once again am having a hard time balancing it all out. Eating for a endurance athlete is different from others. There is a fine since to it ... Tue, 12 Feb 2013 20:57:52 EST Simple goal success First I have to say I was shocked to see I had a 'featured blog' award. I had to see what I got it on. Really the 'simple goal' one? The one about my dang skittles.

A girl can loose 60+ lbs, hike 1000, of miles, run 4 half marathons in one year, bike ride all over the place and do a triathlon. All while blogging about it quietly to herself, and the world.

Then she admits to a silly simple little struggle that shouldn't even be a struggle the dang bag of skittles.... Sat, 9 Feb 2013 15:06:15 EST The failed track work out Wed are track days. Now to go to the track I have to drive 30 miles to down town to meet up with people. The last two weeks everything worked like clock work.

I was able to go to meet my husband and do a weight work out with him and then head over to the track.

The track is not an easy place to get to and there is probably 10 parking spots. Thu, 7 Feb 2013 08:49:11 EST The scale is my friend OK so yes I'm a bit scale obsess! I know I shouldn't be and people say it's not healthy yada yada yada. I confess I weigh myself daily. I only track weekly, or monthly, depending on the place I track. It's when I get on it day after day week after week and month after month and it's not moving or moving in the wrong direction that I get so frustrated.

Well today is my weekly check in date, and I'm down 2 lbs from last week! That is close to 5# for the year. Now I'd wish I was... Wed, 6 Feb 2013 08:44:28 EST
