ROSE284's SparkPeople Blog ROSE284's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Pride Comes Before A Fall Well, the third Zumba lesson was also a joy although the saying, 'Pride comes before a fall' seems to be accurate. There I was, enjoying myself, unfortunately close to the front, when I slipped and landed on my side.

I did the standard thing: took a second to process why the world was sideways, another to right myself, one more to check nothing was broken and then a few more to style it out. I'm pretty sure I pulled it off with aplomb.

My elbow and hip will probably ha... Tue, 21 May 2013 17:47:00 EST Time Flies! My first Zumba class was over 2 weeks ago now. I'll be heading off to my third class tomorrow and I cannot wait!

The first lesson was great fun although I had to walk past a load of women playing netball outside which reminded me so strongly of miserable PE lessons, netball skirts and gym shorts that I almost turned around on the spot and headed home.

Fortunately, I put my head down and ignored the gaggle of women sitting around the bench (just like school!) and headed... Mon, 20 May 2013 11:32:14 EST First Zumba Class Tonight One of the things I promised myself at the start of the year was that I'd take a proper fitness class this year. Well a few weeks ago a deal popped up on a voucher site for zumba classes in my area. I'm not studying at the moment so it seemed like the perfect time.

Tonight will be my first class. I am so nervous. I realised today that I haven't done any sort of organised sort or exercise class since school which was a good 10 years ago now! I am sure it will be fine, possibly... Tue, 7 May 2013 13:28:52 EST Springing into Action! So the first challenge for Springing into Action is to write a little something in your blog which is perfect because I’d just been thinking how much I enjoy reading other people’s blogs and how mine has been left languishing since last year.

I’m 28, live in South London and have a job that I hate. I’m also a part-time student with the Open University which is a distance learning programme that means you need to be fairly disciplined about study. I’m currently ploughing my way thr... Fri, 22 Feb 2013 19:42:27 EST Stressful work day but with a silver lining Yesterday was a very stressful day. My colleague and I actually ended up walking out of the office for a couple of hours after our boss spoke to us yet again, in a completely unacceptable manner. I'm not proud of my actions exactly but she has been treating me like a doormat for years and it actually felt like a very positive thing for my self-esteem to say, 'No this is not an acceptable way for you to talk to me' and then follow through by removing myself from the situation.

She ... Thu, 13 Dec 2012 05:30:35 EST Well it's still going in the right direction ... That is to say I've lost another pound this week even though I've not really worked out much. In fact this is probably the least exercise I've done in a week since I joined the site.

I'm not especially happy about that but an incredibly stressful week at work last week (tears before and after work most days last week, fun!), cutting way back on junk food and removing comfort eating as well as being ill seems to have sent my motivation AWOL.

However last night I suc... Fri, 7 Dec 2012 04:50:03 EST First Full Workout While Flatmate Was At Home So, this may seem silly but this was an incredibly big deal to me.

Today, for the first time I did Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred while my flatmate was in the flat! I did it in my room and hopefully it didn't disturb him too much but I'm so pleased with myself. I gave it everything I had and I am really starting to enjoy it!

I've always been too embarrassed to do this before (he's a bit of a fitness freak, cycles to work, does triathlons etc - we have very little in comm...
