RONIROO2U's SparkPeople Blog RONIROO2U's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Welcome, December I can't believe I haven't posted a blog since mid September! Actually, I can, as in the last two months we've prepared to move and then finally moved. Moving into a house is more work than I've ever imagined, and being a homeowner is more work than I've ever imagined. I love our new home in Georgia, however, and I love living in Georgia. It's the South, it's warm, and our new town has a great feel to it. The last two months have involved packing, unpacking, arguing with various customer ... Wed, 1 Dec 2010 17:02:43 EST Goals of mid September! Greetings, Spark Friends! I hope each and every one of you has had a great summer of taking small steps towards goals. The end of summer is here and it's time for a new beginning (that and it's a Monday- a great time to recap and start fresh)! I'm happy to say I've maintained all summer (even though my workout routines have been slipping from my usual 5 days to 3 days because we've been traveling), and I look forward to setting a few new goals and continuing with good, older habits:
... Mon, 20 Sep 2010 08:23:31 EST Refocus! While during the months of April and May (thus far) I've managed to maintain my weight, in an effort to actually try to GAIN a few pounds (my upper body has become rather skinny since running), I've noticed that my diet has gone off its course. As a result, I feel unhealthy, full of retained water, unfocused, and shifted. I've only been running 3 days a week with no other weight or cardio training, and I've been consuming WAY too much wine and beer!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm proud... Mon, 10 May 2010 08:11:49 EST My First 5k Race I am so excited. On Saturday morning, I ran my first 5k race for Hospice Hope and it was such a WONDERFUL experience! The morning was beautiful, there were so many supporters, I met my fundraising goal, and it was at the beautiful Wake Forest University campus. The Wake Forest football team even passed out water at the end of the race!! It was such a wonderful experience- being able to raise money for a great non-profit organization and do what I love to do- RUN!

I made my ow... Mon, 19 Apr 2010 14:27:25 EST Tracking Other Nutrients I noticed last week (after reading an article) that Spark People allows you to track other nutrients other than fat, carbs, protein and calories. Tracking all the vitamins and minerals doesn't really interest me (that is way too time consuming and I eat such a variety of foods I'd like to think I'm doing well in that regard), but I noticed that I can track salt, saturated fat, and caffeine, all of which need to be limited in order to prevent long term health issues. I never cared about trac... Mon, 15 Mar 2010 08:25:34 EST Daily Caloric Intake I'm really struggling with this issue. SparkPeople, according to my 1500 fitness minutes a week, has set my intake range from 1550-1950. I seldomly eat below 2000, and most days are 2200. Since I gave up weighing myself for Lent (I was addicted to the scale), I have no idea if I've gained weight as a result of eating 2200 a day for nearly two weeks now. I never overstuff myself and I eat when I'm hungry, although I have been indulging in a small amount of sweets (lowfat ice cream or a sma... Tue, 9 Mar 2010 07:03:08 EST Marching into March I know, that's a corny entry title...but cute, regarless! It's another month in the life of this 30 year old SAHM residing temporarily (we still think) in North Carolina. Another month to be healthy, productive, positive, and merry. This is my own pep talk, in case you haven't noticed. February was a good month; it was too cold to stay outside much, my 10 month old son was sick 80% of the time, I gave up weighing myself for my first Lent and my clothes still fit me, I went through the Rit... Mon, 1 Mar 2010 08:57:18 EST Wisdom I know this topic may be cliche...but for the next few days I'm reflecting on what it means to be wise opposed to being intelligent or smart. Any ideas?

I have a few of my own...such as being able to view life's obstacles from "outside of the box" instead of the inside. Keeping an objective point of view, even when you're involved. Learning from past mistakes and not repeating them. Not passing judgment. Being completely selfless. Finding goodness and meaning in everything ar... Thu, 18 Feb 2010 08:17:34 EST Happy Ash Wednesday I'm really excited about today being Ash Wednesday. As a catechumen, it's particularly exciting, because it's my first celebration of Lent and an opportunity to spiritually prepare for my baptism on Easter Vigil. After attending RCIA classes for the past few months, I've decided to choose Catholism as my religion, considering it's the religion that holds most closely to my spirituality and beliefs. I'm attracted to the structure, masses, church, community, structure, fathers, saints, and p... Wed, 17 Feb 2010 12:31:30 EST Happy Virtual Valentine's Day to Myself Just for fun.

I have a 9 month old baby boy, not to mention we're saving for a house while my husband's company takes care of us in the meantime, so I rarely buy anything for myself. But if I WERE to go on a shopping spree, these are the items I'm in dire need of:

1- at least 3 pairs new underwear. I love Gap Body but they're pricey.
2- 2 pairs of house and yoga pants.
3- A good face cleansing system, like Lancome or Merle Norman.
4- A heartrate monitor!... Wed, 10 Feb 2010 13:36:16 EST Project Maintain For those who know me or keep up with my blog, you know that refocusing on my goals helps to get me motivated and get through the week. Overall weight maintanence is my main goal, but I throw some other goals in the mix too. Here goes:

1- Drink 4 bottles of water (green brita water bottle 22 ounce) a day

2- Mon: 45 min run/walk
Tues: 20 min run/walk, 20 min elliptical
Wed: Bosu bootcamp and half hour pilates
Thur: Kickboxing
Fri:... Mon, 8 Feb 2010 13:03:28 EST Spark Motivator! I can't believe several SparkFriends nominated me as a Spark Motivator! I didn't even know such a thing existed. My goal everyday is to log in and reply to message boards for members who need advice or motivation, but I didn't know I could receive anything as a result!

My decision to help motivate those who desired to lose weight came after my weight loss. First off, I had accomplished a goal, and being a SAHM (with a past career and MBA), I had no other goals to look towards.... Thu, 4 Feb 2010 14:34:04 EST Hello, dear February Could you have not come without the snow?

This past weekend was so boring, as we were stuck inside our small apartment because of the snow and ice outside. I wasn't able to go the gym so I didn't workout all weekend. I drank beer and wine with my husband, ate pizza, chicken nuggets, fries, pringles, peanuts, and everything else in our fridge and pantry.

Even though we were still stuck inside for the past two days (mon and tues), I managed to force myself to workout to... Wed, 3 Feb 2010 13:37:51 EST It's a New Week! I love Monday mornings because they are always a fresh start. I do fairly well sticking to my healthy lifestyle habits, but the weekends are always difficult with the husband (who loves to eat and drink and has no limits) home and socializing with friends. I've still managed to reach my weight loss goal, but in order to maintain my weight, I find that I have to continue to set goals every now and then! Goal setting is part of the lifestyle change anyhow. Having specific goals written down... Mon, 25 Jan 2010 08:56:26 EST The next two weeks... I didn't do too bad last week. I made healthy eating decisions (for the most part) although I still drank as much wine as I normally do. It's so hard to stay off the wine after dinner!! Maybe that will be my New Year's Resolution. I worked out five days this past week, and walk/ran 13 miles. Staying focused will be a toughy for the next couple of weeks (we're traveling everywhere to see family and friends), and I'll try hard, but tis the season and if I have to get back on track in Janua... Sun, 13 Dec 2009 06:19:13 EST The good and the bad of the week Good:

1- Worked out all five days, even 20 mins at home when I couldn't make it to gym.

2- Ran 10 miles all week, danced, and did weight training.

3- Ate healthy for the MOST part

4- Weighed myself this morning- at 128.

5- Ate out healthy last night- grilled chix salad no cheese or bacon

Bad:

1- Drank 3 of the 5 nights- total of bottle of wine and two beers (spread out) 20

2- Ate peanuts by the h... Sat, 5 Dec 2009 11:22:31 EST Finally at goal weight! This morning, I weighed myself and noticed that I had finally reached my goal weight...yay! Just in time for Thanksgiving! So now my goal is to STAY at this weight over the next week, considering we'll be out of town and the gym will be hundreds of miles away. Walking in our parents' neighborhoods is an idea, but no one will want to go with me and I don't want to spend time away from friends and family because "I have to go walking!" So I'll be happy as long as I don't gain this week. N... Mon, 23 Nov 2009 14:09:07 EST Talk about falling off the wagon! I'm never going to lose the last couple pounds if I keep falling off the wagon! It's been difficult to stay on track lately, but I always manage to get back on track the very next day...only to stay on track for a couple days or so! My problem lately has been boredom at home (sick 7 month old and it's always raining outside) and so when the hubby wants to go out for dinner, I'm out eating crab dip, dipping my bread in butter, drinking chocolate martinis and going all out! I justify my eati... Thu, 19 Nov 2009 10:31:22 EST Goals for this week I'm moving from PA to NC this week so keeping track of my goals will be challenging. I'm also visiting TN for a week after the big move. Barely lost a pound last week, so this week's goals will be the following:

1- Check into SparkPeople at least every other day
2- Give away the chocolate cake in the kitchen that my friends brought
3- Walk for at least 2 miles today and tomorrow
4- Consume no more than 2 alcoholic beverages a day! (I'm a lush)
5- Keep calories... Mon, 20 Jul 2009 10:14:24 EST
