ROCKN2ROLLIN's SparkPeople Blog ROCKN2ROLLIN's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community I've fallen and I can't get up! Wow. Didn't think my slide would last this long. Back to constant snacking, eating junk food and skimping on work outs. Wish I had a "life alert" button that would send Bob Harper or some other great trainer to my door...put me on The Wake-Up call with the Rock! Oh wait, I have Sparkpeople!!! I'm ba-a-a-a-ck!! Thu, 24 Mar 2016 09:02:38 EST the Mouse work out So I've been saying I was going to do some major house cleaning for the last 2 weeks. I could see me burning some calories vacuuming, mopping, dusting, cleaning windows.... But I've always got an excuse. The weather is mild. Why not work outside. The weather is bad. Why not get under a blanket and read a book. Or, I've got a headache, or I'm sleepy, or (fill in the blank). And then I saw the mouse. Enough said?? Wed, 2 Mar 2016 14:01:29 EST one point down! So I was faltering on my diet of low sugar/hi fiber. A week in and I started to have gut cramps after some meals. And I was feeling yucky mid-morning. I started to covet my husbands snack drawer of chips and candy. To top it off, my sister sent me a box of presents that included 2 bags of Hershey kisses. Man, did I want 5 minutes alone with these goodies.
My husband reminded me that I only have one week to go on this plan so why not see it through and decide later if I want to qu... Tue, 1 Mar 2016 11:31:46 EST where do you rank? Ooh, challenge! I am on the Spark team for my state (North Carolina). I didn't know we get ranked on our fitness minutes. So I scrolled, and scrolled to find my ranking(118). Next thing I know, I'm getting out the calculator to figure out how many minutes I need to get in the top 50 (71 min/day). Challenge on, Baby! Wish me luck! Sun, 28 Feb 2016 12:42:14 EST break it down I was looking at my long term goal of losing 28 lbs by Sept. and had to realize that it had no "teeth". It feels like a vague wish that isn't really important to me. I DO care about being in the obese range on the BMI scale. So (light bulb moment) I now have a short term goal of moving my BMI of 32 down one point. That means I need to lose 5lbs. Suddenly I feel motivated again. My BMI has to hit the 24 point # to be considered as healthy so it will take me awhile. At least, now, I feel ... Tue, 16 Feb 2016 09:24:05 EST yay for birthdays What a great way to start my new year. Had a day that included adorable dogs, fitness challenge, hula hoop, and the"wobble" dance and a excellent salad bar we made at home. Oh and there was chocolate. Birthday nirvana. Sun, 14 Feb 2016 09:59:30 EST can't always go your way... It started Friday. missed the strength straining part of my work out. realized i was coming down with a cold. price of prescription went up. woman cursed at me several times at the grocery store. Saturday: Super Bowl prep led to failed batch of cookies; problems with cable as we tried to watch a movie; no sleep for most of night-thank you cold virus. Sunday: buffalo dip had too much hot sauce; missed parts of game as I went into another room every time I had to cough and sneeze(don't y... Mon, 8 Feb 2016 12:38:05 EST when your plan is under attack So what to do when my husband suggests I do what he is doing to lose weight. (His basketball belly is now more of a soccer ball belly.) What does that mean? Does he think I'm not trying hard enough? Should I give up on my plan? I felt a bit under attack. So you know what popped into my head? "SHIELDS UP!" and I mentally moved on.
Then this morning, I mentioned to my long-time work out buddy that I bought my gym bag as a reward for upping my cardio levels in Jan. She said, and... Tue, 2 Feb 2016 10:06:57 EST count down to 54th birthday! My birthday is in 13 days. I'm looking for a challenge. something physical or something fun or something nurturing...maybe all three, right? Time to brainstorm! Sun, 31 Jan 2016 16:50:34 EST funny how things work out So I did my homework and pulled up the restaurant menu before we went out to dinner. My husband and I have a pact that we are passing on dessert every day until the Super Bowl. Things lookin' good...well, the service wasn't that good and the food wasn't either. Then the topic of conversation turned to an ongoing situation with a family member that just made me more emotional and upset as the discussion went on. You know that point where you feel your blood pressure rising and you just want ... Feeling successful! Thu, 28 Jan 2016 10:14:00 EST aaack! evil triggers. So, definitely should have avoided the grocery store yesterday. My husband asked me to buy some potato chips for him. fine. didn't count on the fibe I get from other shoppers when a snow event is coming. came home with popcorn, choc. covered pretzels, hot cocoa and whipped cream...oh yeah, and candy bars. at least there were bananas in my cart. ashamed to say that only the candy bars made it through the night...and half a bag of popcorn. sigh. I am seriously thinking of paying for the... Thu, 21 Jan 2016 09:54:45 EST small changes=big rewards started a journal with the purpose of finding patterns in my day. is there a certain time of day when my willpower goes awol? am I getting enough sleep? do i have specific times of the day when i'm at my best? how long does it actually take to complete the things on my to-do list? (I never seem to get it all done.) Wed, 20 Jan 2016 10:21:17 EST small changes while I still have to distract myself from my obsession with all things sugary, I am in control of the coffee creamer demon! Have to admit I dove into some mini donuts that my daughter brought into the house but I won't use that as an excuse to quit on my goal. small changes sometimes = forgiveness! Mon, 18 Jan 2016 09:44:02 EST sparkfriend response Thanks for the support regarding my efforts to put sugar in its place. After realizing that I ate 1/2 cup of sugar yesterday from food and coffee creamer, I now have a clearer picture of my "sugar babies". My husband even joined me in counting those teaspoons. He consumed 1/3 cup yesterday. Today we each cut back on the amt of sugar/creamer we dump in our coffee. Doable. Fri, 15 Jan 2016 10:16:14 EST small changes So time to face the sugar issue. I think I run on sugar and caffeine. so one fight at a time. Thu, 14 Jan 2016 11:11:13 EST small changes=big rewards I'm back to rekindle my SPARK! So 2016 is going to be a meaningful year for me. I really don't want another year to go by where i'm always judging my self worth by the number on the scale. That said, I do love meeting friends and family at the gym. And I want more physical challenges this year. But the thing I am most excited about is making this the year of one small change after another. So for January, i no longer eat after 8pm and i'm drinking a big pitcher of water every day. I ha... Wed, 6 Jan 2016 10:01:44 EST What's the BEST thing that could happen?!? So eliminate what you don't need/want, categorize what you're keeping, then organize it so it will be easy to use/find. Let go of ideas/plans that didn't work. Let go of emotions that are dragging you down. Let go of relationships that are draining ,or worse, toxic. Thu, 2 Jan 2014 07:44:49 EST no happiness in the journey? so the question was posed: How will I know that I am getting healthier if I have no weigh-ins on a scale, no size labels in my clothing, no charts to monitor my BMI? How will I feel happiness if I can't boast of reaching that # on the scale-chart-size? Some signs are tangible: my clothes will feel loose, my muscles will start to show, my face will have a healthy glow, I will be more flexible. I will have more energy. Things that were physically hard-like taking the stairs-will become easi...
