Mon, 23 Apr 2012 16:14:25 EST Weight Loss & "Cheat" Day Today is my "official" weigh in day, and it's also my "cheat day", where I can eat any food I want and as much as I want, whether it's good for me food or bad for me food. I think my metabolism gets stuck during the week, since I usually eat around the same number of calories (& fat, etc.) each, my "cheat" day is all about confusing my system. The funny thing is that even though I can eat anything on my cheat day, I don't really want to. It's almost like I have to force myself to eat... Sun, 19 Feb 2012 13:49:44 EST "Green Drink/Smoothie" Day Since I overdid the calories yesterday (got into the trail mix!), I've decided to eat "lighter" today...lunch was a green drink that I whipped up in the blender...simply, raw spinach, ginger, a carrot, cucumber, small tangerine, and low-sugar cranberry juice. I also had a whole wheat mini bagel with some ICBINB on it. Sunday is my weigh in day, so I'm also hoping for some "lightness" on the scale, LOL. Sat, 18 Feb 2012 17:24:11 EST Upping The Exercise & Boring Treadmill Well, a month into my exercise journey, I am getting bored with the treadmill. You see, my treadmill only has a manual incline adjustment, so, in order to adjust the incline, I'd have to hop off of the treadmill, interrupt my workout, and adjust the darn thing. So, I just keep it flat, and I change up my speed. This is getting kinda boring! I've decided to stick with the treadmill walking though (until the weather gets warmer), but I'm going to add some weight training a few days a Thu, 16 Feb 2012 15:26:37 EST Food & Valentine's Day I'm not real big on Valentine's Day...for me, it's more about homemade gifts or cards, and just spending time with your loved ones. So, for today, realizing that I should probably do something, I made up a chocolately cupcake recipe (no frosting) for dessert, using ingredients that I already had in the house...perfect, since it only made 4 cupcakes (less tempting to have only a few around, rather than a dozen, right?) So, even with 1 cupcake for dessert, I'll manage to stay within my alloted ... Tue, 14 Feb 2012 18:36:46 EST The Scale Moved In The Right Direction I was kinda nervous about weighing in on Sunday, because, I've been going up & down one pound for two weeks now. Well, good news...I lost 1 more lb. (for a total of 5 lbs. lost my first month on SP). Yes, I lose very slowly, but I'm determined not to let that bother me (or at least I'll try not to let it bother me). I'm doing all the right things...using the food tracker every day, eating smaller portions than I used to, eating more fruit & veggies, and no evening snacking (unless I've planne... Sat, 4 Feb 2012 22:05:25 EST Never thought I'd reach the end of the day & need more food! Well, here it is, 9:30pm, and according to my nutrition tracker, I haven't eaten enough calories for the day. I'm coming up short about 400-500 calories. I never thought I'd say that I need to eat more food late at night! Fri, 3 Feb 2012 21:30:04 EST Losing & Gaining & Losing The Same Pound Wishing I knew why I tend to lose weight so slowly...the first week I started this journey, I lost 3 lbs., the second week...1 lb., then after that, it's like playing "ping-pong" with that 1 lb. That one pound comes & goes...very aggravating at this point. I would have thought that at one month past, I would have lost more than three pounds. (Sorry, I just needed to vent!!!) I've been eating healthy (and tracking my food each day), and I'm remembering just how far I've come and what I've accomplished in just a little over two weeks since joining SparkPeople. He went to a fundraiser this afternoon that took place at a local Chinese Restaurant, and they had a buffet set up. Since I didn't go to the meeting with him, he was so thoughtful & brought me home a small container of food. He handed it to me and said "I'm not sure whether you can eat this or not, but I wanted to bring you something". <BR> Well, upon opening the container, I saw it had General Tso's chicken, fried rice and some brocolli. I never thought I'd find myself actually missing exercise (walking), but I hurt the bottom of my foot (strained a muscle or ligament or someting...not sure exactly what) the other day. Roaming in the frozen food aisles at the grocery store tonight (on an empty stomach, I know bad, bad), I felt as if the quart (or whatever smaller size they are now) sizes of ice cream were all calling out to me, as if to say, Robin, please pick me!
