ROBINCT135's SparkPeople Blog http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal.asp?id=ROBINCT135 ROBINCT135's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community SparkPeople.com http://assets2.sparkpeople.com/assets/nav/logo_spark.gif http://www.sparkpeople.com/ Back Problems, etc. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4848471 I haven't been working out lately, because I may have disc problems in both my back and neck. This is no fun hurting all the time! Mon, 23 Apr 2012 16:14:25 EST Weight Loss & "Cheat" Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4746157 Today is my "official" weigh in day, and it's also my "cheat day", where I can eat any food I want and as much as I want, whether it's good for me food or bad for me food. I think my metabolism gets stuck during the week, since I usually eat around the same number of calories (& fat, etc.) each day...so, my "cheat" day is all about confusing my system. The funny thing is that even though I can eat anything on my cheat day, I don't really want to. It's almost like I have to force myself to eat... Sun, 19 Feb 2012 13:49:44 EST "Green Drink/Smoothie" Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4745078 Since I overdid the calories yesterday (got into the trail mix!), I've decided to eat "lighter" today...lunch was a green drink that I whipped up in the blender...simply, raw spinach, ginger, a carrot, cucumber, small tangerine, and low-sugar cranberry juice. I also had a whole wheat mini bagel with some ICBINB on it. Sunday is my weigh in day, so I'm also hoping for some "lightness" on the scale, LOL. Sat, 18 Feb 2012 17:24:11 EST Upping The Exercise & Boring Treadmill http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4742081 Well, a month into my exercise journey, I am getting bored with the treadmill. You see, my treadmill only has a manual incline adjustment, so, in order to adjust the incline, I'd have to hop off of the treadmill, interrupt my workout, and adjust the darn thing. So, I just keep it flat, and I change up my speed. This is getting kinda boring! I've decided to stick with the treadmill walking though (until the weather gets warmer), but I'm going to add some weight training a few days a week...now... Thu, 16 Feb 2012 15:26:37 EST Food & Valentine's Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4738956 I'm not real big on Valentine's Day...for me, it's more about homemade gifts or cards, and just spending time with your loved ones. So, for today, realizing that I should probably do something, I made up a chocolately cupcake recipe (no frosting) for dessert, using ingredients that I already had in the house...perfect, since it only made 4 cupcakes (less tempting to have only a few around, rather than a dozen, right?) So, even with 1 cupcake for dessert, I'll manage to stay within my alloted ... Tue, 14 Feb 2012 18:36:46 EST The Scale Moved In The Right Direction http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4722623 I was kinda nervous about weighing in on Sunday, because, I've been going up & down one pound for two weeks now. Well, good news...I lost 1 more lb. (for a total of 5 lbs. lost my first month on SP). Yes, I lose very slowly, but I'm determined not to let that bother me (or at least I'll try not to let it bother me). I'm doing all the right things...using the food tracker every day, eating smaller portions than I used to, eating more fruit & veggies, and no evening snacking (unless I've planne... Sat, 4 Feb 2012 22:05:25 EST Never thought I'd reach the end of the day & need more food! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4721104 Well, here it is, 9:30pm, and according to my nutrition tracker, I haven't eaten enough calories for the day. I'm coming up short about 400-500 calories. I never thought I'd say that I need to eat more food late at night! Hmmm...not sure what I'll have though.

Quick update...saw your responses to my blog posting, so I've decided to have a cup of hot chocolate (made with almond milk), and a cup of non-fat, low sugar ice cream, then, one portion of whole grain wheat thins. That will... Fri, 3 Feb 2012 21:30:04 EST Losing & Gaining & Losing The Same Pound http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4714386 Wishing I knew why I tend to lose weight so slowly...the first week I started this journey, I lost 3 lbs., the second week...1 lb., then after that, it's like playing "ping-pong" with that 1 lb. That one pound comes & goes...very aggravating at this point. I would have thought that at one month past, I would have lost more than three pounds. (Sorry, I just needed to vent!!!) Tue, 31 Jan 2012 13:01:23 EST Laughing Burns How Many Calories? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4703366 Went to see the play, "Boeing-Boeing" (at the Hartford Stage) last night with my best friend. I tell ya', I don't think I've ever laughed so much...what a great, hilarious play! The entire audience laughed the entire time. Hmm...I wonder how many calories laughing burns. Wed, 25 Jan 2012 13:00:26 EST Darn It, I Gained A Pound http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4698661 Got on the scale this morning, and I gained 1 lb. I'm not going to get upset over it though. I've been eating healthy (and tracking my food each day), and I'm remembering just how far I've come and what I've accomplished in just a little over two weeks since joining SparkPeople. I've cut back on sodium, fat, calories...and portion size. I'm eating more fresh fruit and veggies, etc.
I am a very slow loser, and I have to remember that this is not a race! Given that, I do realize that I... Mon, 23 Jan 2012 10:49:28 EST It's The Thought That Counts, But I Didn't Eat It! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4697352 What a thoughtful husband I have! He went to a fundraiser this afternoon that took place at a local Chinese Restaurant, and they had a buffet set up. Since I didn't go to the meeting with him, he was so thoughtful & brought me home a small container of food. He handed it to me and said "I'm not sure whether you can eat this or not, but I wanted to bring you something".
Well, upon opening the container, I saw it had General Tso's chicken, fried rice and some brocolli. I literally took one... Sun, 22 Jan 2012 18:04:16 EST I Never Thought I'd Say This... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4692539 I never thought I'd find myself actually missing exercise (walking), but I hurt the bottom of my foot (strained a muscle or ligament or someting...not sure exactly what) the other day. So, I'm staying off of the treadmill for a few days, while whatever it is that I hurt, heals. I really miss walking! Fri, 20 Jan 2012 00:59:31 EST It's 9:00PM and I'm Hungry! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4685449 It's 9:00PM, and I've finished logging all my foods for the day on my Nutrition Tracker. However, due to the time that it took me to decide what else to eat (for a snack) tonight and finally add that in, so I'd have enough calories for the day...guess what I forgot to do? Yep, that's right...I haven't yet gotten around to going downstairs to the kitchen to whip up that (healthy) snack. So, here it's 9:00PM, and I actually haven't eaten enough calories for the day. I never thought I'd hear mys... Mon, 16 Jan 2012 21:15:48 EST I Need To Lose Weight, My Husband Needs To Gain http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4681261 I've started a new Spark Team, it's called: I Need To Lose, My SO Needs To Gain
(just scroll down to "my teams", and you'll see the team)
Anyway, it sure is a challenge trying to eat healthier & lose weight, when your spouse needs to either stay the weight that they are or needs to gain weight.
I want/need to lose between 43-50 lbs., and my husband could stand to gain about 15-25 lbs.
I don't have the time or money to cook two completely different dinners for us! But, I s... Sun, 15 Jan 2012 00:00:35 EST The Ice Cream Called My Name; however... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4681190 Roaming in the frozen food aisles at the grocery store tonight (on an empty stomach, I know bad, bad), I felt as if the quart (or whatever smaller size they are now) sizes of ice cream were all calling out to me, as if to say, Robin, please pick me! Now, granted, I'd managed to actually stick to my grocery list I'd written out, all with healthy foods. But, I just felt like I deserved a little treat. All of a sudden, I saw tiny cups of Haagen-Dazs ice cream that were on sale for $1.00 each, so... Sat, 14 Jan 2012 23:14:16 EST Finally Took That First Step http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4674405 I've been talking about exercising for what seems like forever, but that's about as far as I got...talking about it. I'm a big procrastinator, and I literally hadn't exercised in a few years. After joining SparkPeople earlier this week, I finally decided that enough is enough, my goal for this first week would be to actually do some form of activity. So, today, I laced up my walking shoes, plugged in the treadmill, and actually walked for a little over 15 minutes! Granted, my pace was not tha... Wed, 11 Jan 2012 17:20:10 EST
