He put me on a low carb, low sugar diet and his goal for me is to lose between 10 and 20 pounds a month. We are a big pasta, bread and potato family. Tue, 2 Jan 2018 12:09:43 EST New Year, Hopefully A New Me http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6445491 I had surgery on my foot Dec. 15 so I've not been as active as I should be. I've been unable to walk as much as I usually do and have been on medical leave from work. I get the stitches out on Jan. 3, and, if the surgery took care of the problems I was having, I'm hoping to be able to start a new workout program. My goal is to lose 72 pounds by next Jan. Thu, 2 Nov 2017 06:53:17 EST Horrible Day! No Relief In Sight http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6423014 Today is such a bad day. :( I'm trying to get my house and yard clean for a wedding reception this Sunday, and, I feel as though I'm having to do it all by myself. The bride and groom, as well as her parents, are all working their full time jobs, my husband is working anywhere from 10-12 hours a day, and my daughter just got in from NY and is resting from a very long train trip. And on top of all that, I've been having to wake up at 2:45 every morning to go get my son and take him to work... Thu, 19 Oct 2017 13:21:37 EST Over 5000 Steps & Counting! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6419783 I only worked for 4.5 hours today, and, in that short time, I got over 5000 steps in. One wouldn't think a cashier would get that many steps in, but, I saw a need and volunteered to stock the candy aisles, and cleaned several of the registers. I just felt the need to move today and tried not to have to sit as often on the stool I am allowed to have at the register. I then got home and walked around my garage a couple of times. Mon, 9 Oct 2017 16:08:00 EST Busy Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6418401 I was off work today, so I slept in. Had to do some shopping at 3 different stores today and I just remembered that I neglected to eat breakfast today. I'm not usually a breakfast eater anyway, but since I've been on the morning schedule at work, and when I have my grand daughter on the weekends in the mornings, I have been eating a good breakfast. But this morning, I forgot all about it. (I'm not usually off on the weekdays, so I guess that threw me off my schedule). Back on schedule to... Thu, 5 Oct 2017 14:14:13 EST I Love My Granddaughter! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6417258 I am so excited to finally see some progress in my weight loss. Several months ago I was over 321 pounds, I am down to exactly 316 now. I know that is a long time compared to other people, but with my health problems, I am considering this as a success. I need to chalk the majority of this up to my 1 year old grand daughter whom I babysit for on the weekends. I'm a lot more active when she's around. I get on the floor and roll around with her, I do several types of silly walks to make he... Mon, 2 Oct 2017 10:55:02 EST Getting Better At Eating Healthy http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6393787 Since my grand daughter is eating more toddler foods now and more foods that we make ourselves, I have really done my best to eat healthier. Breakfast usually consists of pancakes with no syrup, fruit and water or milk, or, I will chop up fresh baby spinach and put it our scrambled eggs, (btw, my 11 month old grand daughter loves all vegetables), and then a healthy snack and lunch. I have always included some type of vegetable or fruit into her meals. Plus, with her around I'm getting more... Sun, 30 Jul 2017 10:09:01 EST I Have A Question http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6366947 Has anyone from Sparkpeople ever heard of the HealthyWage.com sight? Someone told me about it and I was just curious. It's a sight where you bet real money that you can lose weight. For example: I can say I bet 20.00 I can lose 30 pounds in 6 months. If I don't lose that weight in that amount of time then I would have to pay in 120.00 (20 per month), but, if I lose 30 pounds in 6 months, it said I would win over 300.00.
What do you all think?? Does it sound fishy or legit?
I'm ... Fri, 26 May 2017 15:25:03 EST No more Plavix!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6348097 I went to get my heart checked out today and got good news from the cardiologist, my EKG looked good, and cholesterol is good, but my blood pressure is slightly elevated. He said to finish the bottle of Plavix I have then I don't need to take them anymore. I'll just need to keep taking the baby aspirin. He also told me to get a little bit more active, so I will start doing chair exercises in the morning after I eat breakfast. I hope I can get, and stay, motivated to do that. Thu, 13 Apr 2017 17:44:33 EST Still Kicking. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6142941 I haven't been very good at logging in to SP, but with working evenings and trying to sleep during the day, along with having the responsibility of household chores, recovering from surgery, fighting a nasty cold, doctors visits, and, now another round of physical therapy for my back, I don't have a lot of time for myself anymore. But, I'm still kicking, (I just can't kick as high as I used to), and I'm slowly losing some weight. It's been really hard getting, and staying, motivated to work... Fri, 15 Apr 2016 13:29:11 EST Diabetic Diets From Now On http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6070060 I went to my neurologist yesterday and given the facts that I have neuropathy, my surgical wound is not healing properly, I'm over weight, and my mother was a diabetic, my doctor has decided to put me on a diabetic diet for stage 2 diabetes. I am not full diabetic yet, but, my numbers are borderline. Fri, 15 Jan 2016 09:47:36 EST Internet Problems http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5724951 My internet went down on the night of the 16 and we had to wait for the technician to get out here to fix it. He finally showed up and found that our modem went bad. After he left, we had 15 minutes of internet then it went out again so I had to spend a good 2 hours on the phone with 4 different csrs from the internet provider to find out why. Hopefully we have no more trouble from it, all though we do have some thunderstorms moving in, so it will probably go out from that. Tue, 24 Jun 2014 14:15:47 EST Lymphedema Problems http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5719221 My doctors apt went well this morning. My blood pressure is staying where it should be and the doctor is referring me to a lymphedema specialist for my legs. Trying to get this lymphedema under control before it gets too out of hand, and so far, what my doctor has me doing and the pills she has me on doesn't seem to be working all that well. On a brighter side, I start my water aerobics class tonight 244 Mon, 16 Jun 2014 15:27:12 EST CPAP http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5718429 I started using a CPAP last week and so far it seems to be making me feel a little better. I'm still getting use to it and still not sleeping through the night but the sleep I'm getting now, is better quality than what I had before I started the CPAP. Sun, 15 Jun 2014 12:11:22 EST Summer Fun With Water Exercise http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5717912 I went down to our local Rec center today and registered for the water aerobics classes that begin this coming up Monday. I will be going 2 nights a week for 6 weeks. I'm hoping that this will give my metabolism a boost and my energy level goes up. Looking forward to it!! Sat, 14 Jun 2014 14:55:16 EST My Goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5716470 I signed up for 2 challenges yesterday, the 10 minute Daily Exercise Streak Challenge, and Taming Your Sweet Tooth challenge. With both of these challenges I could very easily say my goals are to lose 10 pounds in 2 months, and to stop eating sweets and soda all together. But, I'm not going to do that. I gave this some thought, and, I realized that these goals will not be obtainable to me unless I change the way I look at myself. I need to quit being so negative and hard on myself and I ... Thu, 12 Jun 2014 11:42:17 EST Trying Again http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5716157 I haven't been doing very well for a very long time. I've been more depressed and it seems that my eating habits are reflecting that. I went to the doctor this afternoon for a follow-up for my ulcer, and their scale said I was back up to 292.8 pounds. I have been trying my best to incorporate exercise into my daily routine, but it just hurts so bad. I've discussed this with my doctor a couple of weeks ago and I found out I have lymphedema in my legs. It hasn't got too bad yet, it's still... Thu, 12 Jun 2014 00:17:21 EST No Motivation and In a Rut http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5527657 I have been very down in the dumps the past several weeks because of how sick to my stomach I've been ever since getting out of the hospital last month after having knee surgery. I went to my doctor a couple of weeks ago and he had a CT scan done which showed gall stones and a bad gall bladder, so he sent me to a surgeon to get scheduled for gall bladder surgery and the surgeon isn't 100% sure it's my gall bladder making me sick so she referred me to another specialist for the stomach which ... Wed, 30 Oct 2013 18:41:24 EST Surgery Set http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5460104 I went to my orthopedic surgeon today and I'm going into the hospital on Sept 17 for a total knee replacement on my left knee. But, I left the doctors office with a little more confidence then usual. It felt really good when the first words out of my doctors mouth when he came into the exam room was "You've lost weight!" And I wasn't weighed at the office today. So I must be doing something right if the doctor can notice that I'm losing weight. :) Mon, 19 Aug 2013 16:01:13 EST Another Pound Down http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5457188 Woo-Hoo!!!!! I weighed myself again this morning and found that I lost another pound, hopefully never to be seen again. It has been such a long, hard road for me and with all my health problems and all the meds I'm taking I never thought it was possible to lose even a pound. When I started all over on SP I was 289, I am now down to 276 30 I have made it a habit to tell myself every morning when I wake up to stay active and watch what I eat. The swelling has gone done quite a bit, the blisters are gone, and the incision is healing nicely. I go back to the surgeon on the 29th for a checkup. I have been trying to workout the best I can. Of course I can't do floor exercises or use weights yet, but I have been doing squats, calf raises, and I've been doing shadow boxing. Hopefully the doctor will give me some exercises to do with my hurt wrist so I can start regai... Thu, 18 Jul 2013 13:00:04 EST my bad luck http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5399647 I've had some bad luck this past week, and I can't babysit or workout because of it. I tripped over the bottom door jam of our front door last Monday, 06/17/13, and missed the 3 steps going down and hit the sidewalk. I sprained my right arm, got bruises on both legs and busted my left wrist and split one of the bigger bones in the arm in two. I had to have surgery the day after where the doctor put a metal plate in my wrist and arm. needless to say I am in severe pain and I feel like I ha... They definitely keep me on my toes. My computer is upstairs so I never have the chance while the kids are here to log on. The little girl refuses to take naps during the day unless we are in a car. Mon, 10 Jun 2013 22:18:45 EST Update on Oral Surgery http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5370962 My surgery went very well today, only took about 45 minutes to an hour for the surgeon to extract all the teeth. I am still having some bleeding but it's not bad, my face is not all that swollen like I thought it would be, I started to have a little pain in my gums about 2 hours after I got home but I took one of my pain pills before it got too bad and it knocked the pain out and now I actually feel really good. I really have the urge to get up and start cleaning house right now but I'm goi... So today, I'm finally getting everything taken care of. I'm having 13 teeth extracted which will make it to where I'm on a liquid diet for a while. I'm going to weigh myself before we leave for the surgeon and see if I lose any weight these next few weeks. Tue, 28 May 2013 07:33:35 EST Beautiful Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5331661 Finally!! A nice day without the rain. I don't even know why I'm sitting in the house on the computer when I could be outside weeding my flower beds and planting a garden. I have strawberries, onions, radishes and tomatoes ready to plant but the past week or two has been pretty nasty out. Hopefully the nice Spring weather is here to stay now, I love being able to have my furnace off, he windows open, and being able to hang clothes out on the line to dry. Mon, 22 Apr 2013 11:31:37 EST Another Fight http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5309096 I had another fight with my so-called "better" half this past Saturday. Being called a thief and a lier by my hubby really hurt me so much that I'm actually thinking maybe my life with him may be coming to an end. I didn't do anything wrong other then put the change we got back from paying for gas in my purse, and he was right there when I did it. He's been going thru my purse on a daily basis for almost our entire married life (27 yrs), so it makes me wonder how I'm going to steal money... Tue, 2 Apr 2013 15:49:43 EST Feeling Proud http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5304418 The weather is finally warming up enough for me to go on daily walks. The past 3 days I have walked 2 miles each. The first day I walked the entire 2 miles at once, which, was not smart on my part. I was so sore that night I could hardly sleep. So yesterday, me and my beautiful daughter decided to split up our walk and do 1 mile in the morning after breakfast and then 1 mile after dinner. We did another mile this morning and hopefully will do another this evening, even if it means gettin... Fri, 29 Mar 2013 13:50:00 EST My Last Walk Until March 27?? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5297158 After 2 days in a row walking over 1 mile, my body is feeling the pain. I decided today that I needed to walk at least a half mile, because according to the local weather, we are under a winter weather advisory for the next 2 days. It's 46 degrees F right now, but it is suppose to start snowing later tonight with an estimate of 2-4 inches, with flurries until Tuesday. It's not suppose to warm up again until this next Wednesday (March 27). So, I'm trying to get my walking done now because ... Sat, 23 Mar 2013 12:06:19 EST Waiting for Spring http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5293837 I've been slightly on the depressed side today. I've been waiting all winter for Spring and the warmer weather to set in, and, wouldn't you know it, it's the first day of Spring and we have a 7 degree wind chill. I also heard from the local weather that we're expecting rain and snow all weekend long. 39 I am wanting to get oustside so bad and do things like walk, and plant a garden but the cold weather makes me hurt so bad. I have been doing one 20 minute routine in the mornings and one 20 minute routine at night and I have noticed a remarkable improvement of the way I feel. No, I did not eat all of either one ( I ate about half of both). It was tempting though, because it was so delicious, but there actually came a point to where I just had to push the plate away and ask the server to r... Right now it's 10:02pm, 54 degrees f and raining. Tomorrow it's suppose to be 42 degrees f with the possiblity of snow. I really hate the temperature change like that. I told my daughter that even if it was snowing and nasty out we still need to try to get out and walk a little ways. It may not be as long as it was the past few days, or even a half mile, but if we just got out and walked the alley behind our house that would be better then nothi... Luckily, it happened to be the one that actually has a pretty good menu for people who are watching what they eat. So I ordered a turkey burger ( a thin sliced turkey pattie), on a sour dough bun with a little ketchup, a small order of fries, a small bowl of potato soup, and iced tea, that I used 1 pack of Splenda in.
