I don't like locker rooms, I was always the girl who got teased, I don't know what I'm doing and it is embarrassing to ask for help. I let all the excuses scare me into not moving forward. But now I have a new secret weapon, and his name is Squirrel.
My boyfriend is an average he... Fri, 15 Aug 2014 01:53:27 EST CSA Week 1, and the complete derailing of my plans http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5718207 Plans, I had so many plans for this year, and then the outage at work lasted 100 days. Some really good things happened in those 100 days though, I met a contractor, who also happens to be in the national guard, and more than willing to help me put the focus back on my fitness where it belongs. Now we are doing more things together, he is encouraging me and he likes to cook real food. So far due to a slow start and a long winter we are only one week into CSA and Fruit share doesn't start u... Sun, 15 Jun 2014 02:16:55 EST 2014 fitness goal http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5599513 I am committing this year to not stay on the gain lose cycle, to finish this year with less pounds than I started the year. 2012 I made a lot of progress, hit a lot of goals, and then let myself go in my late season slump. 2013 I was very disorganized, and I felt like I made no progress. Good things happened in that I loved my biking, I logged almost 300 miles on my bike, and I built some plans for this year. But when it came to weight loss 2013 was a bust for me. I never really lost any... Sun, 19 Jan 2014 22:49:01 EST September Bike challenge http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5478141 This months challenge for Girls gone riding was to take a ride in a scenic place and post pictures. So I went to Kelleys Island in Lake erie with my roommate and two bikes. While we were biking around the island we encountered the tiny Kelleys Island airport, and as the sign shows road traffic must yield the right of way to airplanes crossing.

We biked around the primary state park on the island and u... I am not running and only really walking as needed for my job and such so 5k and running groups were off the list. Me and challenges never really work out so I left the seasonal challenge group. I still love you all I just don't need to see a long list of teams I have not much to contribute to. I stayed in DONE girl... Wed, 21 Aug 2013 21:31:08 EST May Goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5346554 April results,
I did not lose any weight because I continued to struggle with my consistency (both exercise and eating).
I did get to spend quite a bit of time outside and continued that into May, so I am over halfway to my 25 miles walking and 25 miles biking outside goal.
Fitbit goal, I never got 70k for the week but I did get the 15k in a day badge (TWICE).
Making a plan/routine, this I struggled with for much of the month because my knees have been worse this year... Sun, 5 May 2013 19:21:32 EST Refocus http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5321405 I have been only sporadically hitting the scale lately and it helped a lot. I was focused on doing right, and only checking my progress when I knew I had been staying with the plan. Except for today. This week I have let my eating slip, made a plan of what to eat and then tossed the plan out the window at some point in the day. So naturally my weight was up. Some of this was related to my Sodium always being the first to go when my meal plan goes sideways, but some of it was probably not... Sun, 31 Mar 2013 23:38:27 EST Spring already Spring! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5290564 I am so frustrated with this cold weather. We had a few lovely days here and there but then it gets freezing cold again, and currently the weather is calling for snow of freezing rain on Wednesday. I am ready for spring to spring already. I hit my usual slump again the last week of January and it carried thru Febuary. I was sick, then I started to get better and tried to get back on the wagon, got sick again, lather rinse repeat a few times. My birthday weekend rolled around and between ... Mon, 18 Mar 2013 01:45:52 EST So far so good http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5196230 The first week of 2013 has gone pretty well so far. I got myself a Fitbit as a christmas present and thanks to that all the walking I do at work has been counting toward my fitness minutes. This has made a few things clear to me, showing me that all the energy I burn on top of the exercise is why I used to have to keep my calorie intake higher than the spark suggestion in order to lose the weight. Now that I have had the fitbit for a couple weeks and I have adjusted my calories burned base... Tue, 8 Jan 2013 01:48:20 EST This year, next year, and beyond http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5168739 I am fairly close to exactly where I started this year weight wise. On the one hand that is OK because it means I am not 234 anymore. On the other hand it sucks because I was rocking my program from April-July and I looked better and felt better than I had in years. Then the inertia crept in and I slowed down, I lost focus in my workouts and eventually stopped trying very hard with my food. Now I am having a hard time getting back on track and staying there. I am beating myself up over t... Good news, fasting glucose is 86. Blood pressure is ok but borderline (yea my sodium is an ongoing issue so that's not entirely surprising). My Triglycerides are pretty darn high at 258, and my HDL is low, but my LDL and my total number are ok. So clearly progress has been made, my total cholesterol number and my Tri number are both lower than 5 years ago. But I... Tue, 11 Dec 2012 23:38:42 EST Things to think about http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5135847 When I did the entrance tests for my current job I was also required to have the company nurse complete a physical including a "biometric screening" which is their name for basic blood work. At the time when my test results came back I got a stern phone call from the nurse "your cholesterol is high you should get it checked by your doctor". Since I was 25, not working out or eating good, knew I was overweight but happy with my body as is I wasn't shocked. I also wasn't feeling any symptoms... Thu, 15 Nov 2012 00:20:13 EST Exercise may increase good mood and chase blahs away. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5125410 Yesterday I was a slug. I let my blah feelings and sinus headache get me down. I did a bunch of little things that needed doing around the house, but then I sat on the couch at watched episodes of Longmire instead of my workout.

Today I was in training at work, which sounds 1000x more exciting than it is. At work training means sitting on your butt with 5 angry people in a room all day listening to a guy read powerpoints. So to cope with the eye peeling boredom I drink water,... Mon, 5 Nov 2012 21:07:55 EST November Goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5120978 I am trying to keep my goals simple and reasonable, so I don't get frustrated and give up. After I realized most of my skinny pants started getting tight and a couple were unwearable again I realized that not working out at all in August or September was a bad idea. So here I am back up to 203 pounds, and trying to find my weight loss mojo again. I am sure I'm not the only person here who's done this but it feels so miserable to realize you have to lose those "same" 15 pounds AGAIN. Seriously self ... Sat, 27 Oct 2012 23:03:12 EST CSA Week 7 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4976648 This week in the CSA basket we got Blueberries BLACKBERRIES and peaches. All the fruit is amazingly good, I also split a bulk blueberry box with a coworker.
I have been eating blueberries on my cereal for almost two weeks and I'm not even close to tired of it, they are so good, firm sweet and delicious.
In the veggie box we had cherry tomatoes (they are shaped more like grapes but I haven't tried any yet) I love good cherry tomatoes but stores never seem to have them anymore, o... Thanks to my plan falling apart, and road running not really working for me, I am going to walk it. The roommate has agreed to walk with me, because anyone is allowed but you only get shirt and put in for prizes if you register. Also this event benefits the local MRDD facility in the next county.
There is a great cafe in this town where the menu of the day is based around the homemade bread they bake every morning. Today I had blueberries in my cereal (super sweet and incredible), a peach for a snack, and carefully eyeballed the green skinned plums. I found some info on the interwebs indicating this might be a cross between a plum and an apricot. My coworker who took last week's CSA basket also told me his wife set me aside a jar of the apricot/blueberry freezer jam they made.
For our veggies this week we got 6 ears of sweet corn (happy ... Mon, 2 Jul 2012 07:36:03 EST CSA week 4, and a big Confession http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4943436 This week's CSA basket contained Swiss Chard, a head of red lettuce, a mixed salad greens bag, peas and pea shoots. The fruit share was Plums, Apricots, and cling peaches (the pit "clings" to the fruit). The apricots immeidatly went into the blender and the food dehydrator to become my first batch of apricot leather. A peach went to work today as a snack and it was super yummy, sweet and juicy. The chard says it can be used similar to spinach so I may try it in a scramble or my quinoa re... Tue, 26 Jun 2012 15:45:57 EST The stinky dog http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4941992 Today was supposed to be my day to do both cardio and ST before work. I smelled skunk when I woke up but we have them around, so some mornings the house smells that way if one was spraying outside recently. I went downstairs to do my morning thing, put on my sports bra and heart rate monitor getting ready to run, hmmm no skunk smell down here. The dog was slow following me down the stairs, so hey wait a minute now the skunk smell is back. Put his breakfast in his bowl and sniff his should... Mon, 25 Jun 2012 16:41:30 EST Getting my mojo back: Operation Tankini Body http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4940322 This is going to be a combo blog. My assignment from the SASS challenge is to reflect, and plan for the future, and I wanted to get some goals down in writing and update my friends on my motivation situation.

So here it is reflections on how far I have come. I was only part of the SASS challenge for a few weeks this time out, but in those few weeks I accomplished a lot (some of which I had been working on for a long time). I got back into all my old jeans, got below the cutoff... Sun, 24 Jun 2012 15:55:37 EST Goals, achievements, and flailing motivation http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4938333 I have seen a lot of posts around about motivation. Finding it, keeping it, losing it... Personally I have had a slow down in my "rah rah" feel good love what I am doing mode. I achieved my initial goal of getting back into all my old jeans. Now I am "still fat" back into all the clothes I used to feel good in, and realizing how much farther I still have to go before I am healthy and sporting that oh so sexy body. On the one hand I feel better, I look better, I like myself more. On the ... Fri, 22 Jun 2012 23:28:38 EST CSA week 3 and sweaty workouts http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4933869 This week our fruit was limited. We are seeing the down side of the late frosts in our mild spring, no cherries at all this year. Bummer since I LOVE cherries. Oh well, this week we got apricots. Our veggie basket contained a small lettuce head, bag of arugula, large head of Bok Choy (dear spark recipes whiskey, tango, foxtrot am I supposed to do with this), another bag of peas (going to my dad), and an herb of my choice (thyme, sage, or rosemary). We went with rosemary because I make h... Tue, 19 Jun 2012 21:55:32 EST CSA week 2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4924265 This week my roommate once again picked up the CSA baskets for me. We got two additional quarts of strawberries, and a bag of smallish apricots in the fruit share. Our veggie share included a nice bag of spinach (more salad with the leftover lettuce from last week), some carrots, additional garlic scapes, and a potted basil plant. I need to decide if the basil is getting a big pot on the kitchen window sill or a spot outside. I am not much of a gardener so weed need to be cleared out for ... Wed, 13 Jun 2012 05:30:37 EST UGH! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4923818 So far this week has been terrible for my body. I haven't been sleeping well. After 6-8 weeks of night shift my body decides we have been playing this game long enough and I cannot fall asleep directly when I get home from work like I typically do at the beginning of a stint on nights. This week I also have things going on, like a dr appointment before work Monday, that throw my schedule for a loop. So couple that with bad eating Saturday night and Sunday night, and now I feel like my bod... Tue, 12 Jun 2012 20:03:28 EST Hi http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4921192 Hi My name is Colleen, and I am an addict. I LOVE caramel, and the boys at work have been making caramel corn all weekend. I hate them all with every delicious crunchy sweet bite. I even ate the burn marshmallow flavored stuff that had too much caramel sugar coating on it. Usually I am in control of my eating, and my biggest problem is laziness. I am not an emotional eater I am a boredom eater. Caramel is my biggest food weakness. I cannot keep a bag of caramels in the house, I will ea... Mon, 11 Jun 2012 08:16:01 EST I am DONE with Obesity!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4918527 I am supposed to weigh myself once a week, but I usually hop on the scale a couple times a week, mostly later in the week. I have a tendancy to forget altogether if I wait for one specific day of the week (I like to weigh in first thing when I get up and if I do it later I'll show higher from eating and activity). So Thursday I hopped on the scale for a preview of this week. An amazing 191.4 showed up. WOOOHOOO!!! I am 1.4 pounds from my 190 goal, and not being obese anymore. Friday roll... Sat, 9 Jun 2012 04:57:21 EST First week of CSA http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4917158 One of my goals for this month was to blog about my CSA experience. This being the first week of the season there were only a couple things in my boxes. We have a half share of Vegetables, and full share of Fruit (fruit shares are smaller but we eat a lot of fruit in my house). In my Veggie box there was a small head of green leaf lettuce, and a large full head of red leaf lettuce, a small bag of garlic scapes, a small bag of arugula and some peas. Not being a fan of peas I found a new h... Thanks to spark people, a huge amount of reading, education, dedication, and encouragement from my fellow sparkies, I got to check a major milestone off my list yesterday. Sat, 2 Jun 2012 07:39:28 EST Ready for some changes http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4903385 I usually love doing night shifts at work, but the presser I have put on myself to keep up with Couch 2 5k, keep my strength streak alive, and do a 12 hour work day is wearing me down a little. I am having trouble falling asleep when I get home from work which means I want to sleep in instead of get up in time to do my workouts. We are almost done though and will go back to a normal day shift schedule sometime in June (right now looks like the week of June 11, but that is subject to change)... Tue, 29 May 2012 21:04:13 EST Geek stuff http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4898473 I LOVE gadgets. This is part of why a reward structure doesn't work out well for me. When there is something I want, I investigate, shop around, and buy. So recently I decided to look into a training watch. I debated getting the cheaper version with no gps, but then I realized I didn't want to have to upgrade later. I found a great price at REI (30% off) on the Garmin 610, so I snapped it up. I also got a foot pod for all my treadmill work and a cadence sensor for my future bicycle. To... Sat, 26 May 2012 06:05:48 EST Where do you want to be in 5 years? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4885193 I have always hated that question. My answer is vague, "um I want to be alive and not living in a box". I always wonder what the questioner is looking for. My life does not have a 5, 10 or 15 year plan. I mean I plan on paying my house off some day, I plan on retiring someday, but so does everyone else, it is a floating finish line that depends on A LOT of factors between now and then. I like to keep my plans flexible. On the flip side of this I am a person who gets into something and w... Thu, 17 May 2012 06:29:07 EST Registered for my 5k http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4880032 I registered for my first 5k. I registered for the Feet on the Street 5k in Bowling Green Ohio. BG is not quite an hour away from me, and the 5k is on July 14th. That is 2 weeks after I finish the Couch 2 5k program, if I do not repeat any weeks. Sun, 13 May 2012 22:50:06 EST Small victories and baby steps. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4879022 I have been waffling for a couple weeks over getting the next size down in scrub pants at work. We wear draw string scrubs when we will be working in hot dirty areas, and or under some of our protective clothing. I have been sporting the XL pants for a while now, and the last time I lost weight I tried the Larges only to find they were SKIN TIGHT on my hips and butt. So this time I was hesitant to try them out. I had some down time tonight and might need my scrubs later, so I went to the ... Sun, 13 May 2012 04:05:59 EST Hmmm http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4877844 I was stuck at 200 for a while, then I started consistently getting my eating right (sodium under control) and the weight started falling right off. I have been weighing every day since I was getting so tired of that 200 number, so I got excited when I went to 199, 198,197, and today's number 195.8. Strange the weight started to come off while I was dealing with an eye infection, and fighting a cold but kept on working out anyway. I was shocked how much better I felt after doing some cardi... So after midnight I pop in the next day's calories based on what I know I have in the fridge or feel like trying to pick up on the way in to work. Today's plan was pretty good, had "breakfast" at home, got subway on the way in to work a 12 hour shift, and was going to have cereal later in the night. I even bought two apples on the way in because I couldn't decide and I had the calorie room to eat them bot... Thu, 5 Apr 2012 02:42:03 EST Back on track http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4700374 Today I ate well again. Kept my sodium under control again today. Tomorrow is going to be a little challenging. I work 12 hours, and I have to get up eat a little snack, do my C25k week 2 day 2 then race off to work. The good news is this will be the only day I work 12 and need to really push to get everything done at home. Thursday is also C25k day, but I am not eligable for the 12 hour shift that day, so I have from the time I get up at 3ish, until 9pm when I leave for work to get ever... Tue, 24 Jan 2012 04:51:05 EST Ups and Downs http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4698082 Weekends on night shift are painful for trying to stay on track with food. I'm at home trying to stay up all night which means I'm roaming the house, rummaging for food, and try to do quiet activities that do not wake up my roommate. So the first day I did good on everything else but my sodium was OUT OF CONTROL. Yea it is an issue for me I know this. The second day I didn't even bother to track. Sunday rolls around and its weigh in day. Up 2 pounds, back to 201.0 Bummer.

... I'm excited about week two and the new challenges. I feel better, slimmer, and like I have more energy this week. Excercise things are clicking for me. Thu, 19 Jan 2012 01:40:22 EST 199 Woo Hoo! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4683324 Today I have a lot of things to 244 about.

I stepped on the scale for my weekly weight check, and an amazing 199.0 appeared! Mirror mirror on the wall, who's in onederland afterall! Friday I hopped on the scale just to see where I might be this week and it had been 201.4, which was in line with the exactly one pound I have lost the last couple of weeks now. So I expected to see close to the same number again on my Sunday morning official weight, color me surprised whe... Mon, 16 Jan 2012 00:07:01 EST Working it http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4678505 Last night I did my workout a little later than usual, because I am making the transition back to night shift again. I am going to start Couch 2 5k this Sunday. Yes I know that's what I said last week but last week my quads and knees hurt from all the stairs at work, I wasn't ready yet. So in preparation I walked 3 minutes and jogged one, on my two and a half mile route. The last quarter mile I didn't jog, just dropped my pace a little for my cool down. I was so pumped when I made it thr... Fri, 13 Jan 2012 14:21:06 EST Short walk HAH! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4672285 So my plan for a short walk after I got off work turned into "if I make it home early enough I can still do 2 miles before I really have to get off the treadmill". I got done with my 12 hour work day, ate an emergency meal I keep in the freezer at work for dinner, thus no temptation to stop at McFast Food on the way home. Planned on just doing a walk but felt pretty good and pushed a jog a couple times. Also conquered the 6.5% incline hill on my new map (not while jogging). Ended up putti... Tue, 10 Jan 2012 20:36:43 EST A good day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4667167 Today's weigh in went better than I thought it would. I was down a pound, which is my set interval on my spark program. 202.4, means I am creeping closer to that magic 200 number. Then I will be ten pounds from my first goal of 190. I doubt I will do much to "celebrate" 200, because I just bought a couple new sports bras, and a treadmill, so if I do anything nice for myself it will be non monetary.

I am doing really well with the treadmill, though so far I am sticking to just... Sun, 8 Jan 2012 21:15:54 EST Yay Treadmill http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4664965 The new treadmill is excellent. I love the google maps feature that lets me draw maps and walk them. But for now I think I need to walk a little more before I can build up to stage one of Couch 2 5k. I need to get my knees a little stronger to maintain the jogging. Plus the muscles in your legs used for walking, totally different than cycling. PS my glutes hurt, but I love it.

I don't think this weigh in is going to go very well, because I didn't do so hot on food Thursday o... Sat, 7 Jan 2012 21:25:47 EST Oh So Excited! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4658634 Today around noon (while I was sleeping, since I am on midnights this week) the delivery company called about the treadmill. The conversation was a little amusing, especially since I had been asleep for about 4 hours prior.
Delivery Company Lady: Will someone be there to take delivery this Friday?
Me: What time on Friday?
DCL: Afternoon
Me: Yes.
DCL: Ok great seeyouthenthanksbye *click*

So I am super excited and all because Friday morning I get off my ni...
