In that time I lost ten pounds of fat, two inches from my waist, gained three pounds of muscle and my cholesterol is down below two. Tue, 19 Jun 2012 16:26:32 EST A Wake Up Call After having Angina since last November I had a bypass operation in April. This was due to a major blockage in a major artery. Allergies to several drugs complicated the surgery. Since the surgery I have been treated by an immunologist and can now take the necessary drugs and can eat some foods I've been allergic to for years. I have also walked every day since May 1 and go to cardio rehab twice a week. At rehab I do an hour of cardio exercise in addition to walking about an hour a day. The c... Sat, 16 Jun 2012 08:40:50 EST I'm Back After falling "off the wagon" for a couple of months I'm back. In December, 2011, I was diagnosed with Angina and an irregular heartbeat. This jolted me back to reality. The cardiologist wants my cholesterol lowered to below2. It's now 2.2. It's been difficult to walk since walking in the wind, uphill, or while carrying something heavy triggers my Angina. However, I am trying to walk when I can. I appreciate the Spark support. Fri, 6 Jan 2012 09:10:18 EST Ten pounds Lost I started Spark about six weeks ago. Since then I've lost ten pounds. Last week I was up a pound and discouraged. This week I was down five! I saw my surgeon this week-I can drive now and resume most normal activities. I'm finished physio this week also. Spark works! Wed, 10 Aug 2011 18:04:57 EST Feeling Good Almost two months since my surgery and I'm feeling good! I'm losing a pound or two every week, walking daily, doing strength training, and sleeping well. I stayed exactly the same as last week despite staying well within my daily calorie range. Oh well, I'll press on. I'm determined. On a brighter note, I began physiotherapy yesterday and it went well and I can now exercise more. Hopefully next week I'll have a better report. Normally, I would eat far too much-hamburgers, potato salad, desserts, etc. Today I disciplined myself and stayed well within my calorie allowance.-even though I had angel food cake. Hallelujah! I'm staying on track with tracking and it is a great help. So is measuring portions for portion control. I feel upbeat and positive! I weighed myself today, one week after starting Spark People and I am fifteen pounds lighter than in February. I know I didn't lose that much in one week. I changed my beginning data to reflect today's weight and moved my end goal ahead by a week. Do I need to do anything else? I walked yesterday for the first time since my surgery two weeks ago. It felt good! Wed, 22 Jun 2011 09:10:10 EST On The Mend Day six for me and it's going well. I got my sutures removed today. I also got the car fixed. I'm not sure which hurt the most. I conquered the temptation to eat out of frustration today and waited until I got home for dinner. In the past, I would have given in to eating to relive the stress. Yesterday I was home alone for a major part of the day. I determined not to eat constantly as I often do when alone. I am happy to be able to say I kept this goal plus the goal of drinking more water and eating healthier. I can't yet exercise much due to my surgery, but am looking forward to when I can begin walking again outside. Thanks to all of you who took an interest in me and made me welcome. I've lost and gained a lot of weight and presently need to lose at least sixty pounds. I eat when alone and crave sweets and ice cream. I want to live a healthier lifestyle. This is day one for me.
