REDBUBBLES's SparkPeople Blog REDBUBBLES's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Review of 2012 Well now that I sit down and think about it, 2012 was more of a down year than I originally thought.

In late February I had hernia repair surgery, took about eight weeks to fully recover from that and got back on track and started making progress again.

Then I talked hubby into a short vacation in August at the beach. That was a blessing in more ways than I ever anticipated, in September I had my annual mammogram and a lump was found, the stress from that triggered my... Sun, 6 Jan 2013 04:35:02 EST What a frustrating day! I had the call back for my mammogram today and there is defiantly a mass in my left breast. They tried to do an ultrasound on the breast to get another image and do a biopsy, but my breast is too dense and the mass is just under a 1/4 of an inch. So they have to schedule the biopsy another way. Through out the process the past few days I have come to realize I have some real control issues that I need to overcome. The feeling of being out of control over this issue has sent me on an emotio... Thu, 6 Sep 2012 20:56:34 EST Its only a patch of road that is under construction I guess I have come a long way because I am not beating myself up.

I rolled by ankle back in the middle of May and broke it. Which of course lead me to be on crutches for almost 4 weeks. Ha, I had to go and break my right ankle too, which is located on the "good" side of my body. I have a left sided radiculopathy and a left side SI joint dysfunction, all the result of an injury I susbstained from an on the job injury twenty years ago, has it really been that long, 1991, yup 20... Tue, 2 Aug 2011 14:13:30 EST More Garden shots The front eye bed

The new Japanese Hydrangea in the backyardto replace the passion flower vine that died over the winter.

Sun, 31 Jul 2011 02:54:13 EST Garden pictures Now that it is starting to warm up here in the Pacific Northwest the garden is starting to bloom and with the additions that were added this past weekend to fill in the spots left by plants that didn't make the December freeze it is starting to look nice.

This little guy didn't like his picture being taken- he dived bombed me just after I snapped it. Apparently we have a turf war going on between several nesting pairs of humming birds
<img src="http://photos-ak.sparkpeople.... Mon, 25 Jul 2011 17:46:12 EST Daughter's wall Well I have the mural about half way complete. It would be done, but she keeps asking for more things to be added, a road, a carriage with horses pulling it, a duck pond with ducks. A giant - I told her no on the giant, she can draw a giant herself once I give the chalkboard portion a couple more coats of paint. But I am getting there when I have a spare moment in between everything else.

But your only a kid once, a bit a paint isn't much, but the memory of Mom painting a prin... Wed, 6 Jul 2011 18:36:22 EST The result of our visit to N.O.A.H. She is still a bit skittish - but she is settling in nicely to the house and I have a feeling she will decide to keep us. They told us that she is 1-1/2 yrs old and that she had orginally been turned into the Everett shelter and transfered to N.O.A.H. five days previously.

I don't think there is a space in the house that she hasn't explored and she has checked out the fireplace twice that I know of. We did our Costco run yesterday and found they had one cat condo left and brou... Mon, 27 Jun 2011 15:04:07 EST You would think a hot tub bath would be a momentary escape... It had been wonderful day, but a busy one, and then with the inlaws coming the stress level is elevated, then hubby started complaining at dinner that the milk was going sour. So I told him not to drink it that I would use it in a bath. He gave me a strange look. He is the only one in the house that drinks cow's milk, the rest of us have differing levels of whey sensitivity and drink mostly soy milk, occasionally almond milk. I figured okay half a gallon of cow's milk left and a couple... Mon, 14 Jun 2010 19:11:38 EST Celebrating the small Victories no matter what they are! We are celebrating! After two years of a soft sell with potty training (doesn't always boil down to this?) and listening to our peditrician tell us not to push too hard, our four year old daughter took it upon herself to use her little potty and pooped in the potty last night. Then she came out to the living room to tell me that she pooped in the potty - "actual poop came out Mom!" So she had to show me and I told her we needed to wipe her tush and it was "Why? - I did it in the potty - ... Tue, 2 Mar 2010 13:43:12 EST Just waiting for the grass to grow now... When we purchased our home almost 4 years ago, the owner had lost his job, his wife had taken the kids and left, and the bank was ready to auction the house out from under him. (He did walk away with money in his pocket from the sale) Needless to say it wasn't in the best kept conditions given the situation - it was understandable. The backyard was overgrown with weeds and blackberry bushes had grown in from the common area behind. But the bones of the house were good - no major problems, t... Wed, 3 Jun 2009 00:37:31 EST The kids beg to go for our evening walk! I love it!!! There is no more dawdling at the dinner table, the table is cleared promptly of remains of dinner and the 3 year old rushes to get her socks and shoes before begging with folded hands is it time to go for walk? Now to be honest they don’t walk, the ten year old rides his new BMX bike and the three year old rides her “old” bike, which is a tricycle the “new” two-wheel bike with training wheels, I think scares her a bit still, but she will still proudly show you her new bike if g... Tue, 19 May 2009 00:28:39 EST It's OK to Quit... (not what you think) I recieved this by e-mail today from a friend and it really hit home, so I thought I would share it with all my Spark friends. 252

****************************************
************************************

"It's OK To Quit....."

1. Quit arguing with people about the same old foolishness! Respect their position and keep it moving!

2. Quit telling people your secrets when you know they are not going to keep them! And if you keep te... Thu, 14 May 2009 19:11:10 EST So much river rock... the backyard project Well we are making progress on the back yard- slow but steady. Just have that 3 foot area along side of the house from the patio to the fence to do. I am now piling the sifted rock on the concrete patio until after we till compost into the clay and re-grade the the area for water drainage. Then some of the rock will be used as a walkway and the other portion will receive a layer of top soil and Fescue grass seed. We still have the other half of the yard to go after we finish with this ar... Wed, 6 May 2009 23:55:22 EST Are we going to have a Spring this year? Well we had a few nice days last weekend - what a tease that was. But I still remember last year we went from winter right to summer the second week of July - there was no spring, no gradual warming of the weather and then came September, then October and no Fall - then bam right into winter again. Didn't give the plants much time to harden for the winter and what a winter we have had. So I am now starting to see which plants made it through the winter and which ones I have to dig up and p... Sun, 12 Apr 2009 00:29:19 EST Finally a Pedometer that fits my lifestyle. After two years of frustration and several hundred dollars on 14 different pedometers, I found the Omron HJ-112. I sat down one day and started researching pedometers; all of the ones I had purchased in the past were of the spring-levered variety. You know the types that have to be clipped to your waist – oh and they have to remain parallel to the ground to work properly to even consider working properly. I always made sure I had a suicide strap on them so when they did fall off I didn’t l... Fri, 16 Jan 2009 23:12:55 EST WOW! Another year is here! Another year is here and I am excited for what it will bring. More challenges, more goals, more friends, more knowledge of me, who I am, what motivates me, and learning more about how I deal/cope with my triggers.

Looking back I have come quite a ways in the last two years. In 2007 I lost a total of 25 pounds, then I stalled out/hit a plateau at the beginning of 2008 - then in August I found SparkPeople and I was off and running again. I lost a total of 28 pounds in 2008 for a ... Fri, 9 Jan 2009 22:37:50 EST Oh my! - I've dropped a size! I have been watching the numbers on the scale decrease and the numbers on the measuring tape decrease. Making sure I get all my exercise in everyday, and logging everything. So when I had to keep pulling my pants up, I guess I should have realized that it actually is coming off. But I have been so focused on my nutrition and fitness goals, keeping up with the kids, volunteering at the school, keeping the house up, working on the to-do list and de-cluttering areas as I go, I guess I didn't ... Tue, 28 Oct 2008 00:57:04 EST Another Pedometer bites the dust I am not sure what I do, but I manage to mangle and break more pedometers. This last one I got on sale for $6.00 at Big 5 so it's not a major loss this time, but I was finding the clock on it useful since I don't like wearing watches and I don't carry my cell phone all the time.

I think I will have to invest in one that I can actually carry in my pocket. Does anyone have any suggestions on brands? I have seen several they all run about $30.00, but I don't know anyone who has a... Wed, 22 Oct 2008 21:04:51 EST The kitchen is done Well the kitchen is done, didn't have it done in time for a visit from my relatives who were in town for a visit from Sweden,(last time I saw them was 38 years ago) but they understood and knew from my e-mails that we had lots of projects underway. I didn't stress and I didn't over eat. So I am pleased. Tue, 7 Oct 2008 00:47:36 EST Simplifying, decluttering, finishing projects The weather has been wonderful here in the Pacific Northwest this past month it is making up for the wet August we had. I am making a push for my husband and I to finish projects we started earlier in the year. Like painting the kitchen - we started that last Christmas, and have been doing it in stages, one set of cabinets at a time, in the meantime I am living in clutter and out of boxes and it is really starting to get to me. Meanwhile the weather is wonderful and I would like to finish ou... Sun, 14 Sep 2008 14:16:11 EST This was sent to me today and has caused me to stop and think When God takes something from your grasp; He's not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better. Concentrate on this sentence..... 'The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.' Something good will happen to you today.

I reflected over my life and found it to be true, every time a door closed - another one opened that led to fantastic opportunities.
