READYRACHEL's SparkPeople Blog READYRACHEL's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Eye Opening I'm fat and I'm staying fat so obviously I eat too much, but to see it in my tracker is still a wow. No wonder I'm so fat. I regularly eat well over 2,000 calories a day. Last week was mainly about getting a clear picture of where I am starting. This week I am going to focus on getting in my 8 glasses of water everyday. I noticed last week that I am not drinking nearly enough water. I will also be trying to replace pop and other sugary drinks with water to help get me there and to cut some ... Sun, 25 Feb 2018 12:29:49 EST has been a while I haven't been on Sparkpeople since 2014. Wow. A lot has happened in my time away. My first baby is going to be a kindergartener in the fall, I have a new baby just born in January, we moved, I got a new job, both of my dogs died, we got a new dog, and I've gained about 30lbs. I downloaded the Sparkpeople app. I don't spend much time on my desktop these days so having it on my phone should help. I am going to start small this time around. Part of my problem in the past was being too "all o... Sun, 18 Feb 2018 11:16:27 EST Lazy My Dietbet10 ends this week. I have been pretty bad about both my food and exercise so far this month. It is a good thing I was down below my goal or I might be in danger of not winning the final round. I have a 2 pound cushion as of this morning, but it used to be a larger gap. I don't know what my problem is...

That's not true. I do know what my problem is. Losing weight is hard. Taking the time to make a healthy delicious dinner is harder than eating bad-for-you-food. I... Mon, 20 Oct 2014 11:22:13 EST DietBet I have joined a 6 month dietbet challenge that starts next week. The goal is to lose 10%. I am excited to lose weight and win some money! Below is the link if you want to check it out.

Fri, 18 Apr 2014 11:08:31 EST Early Morning I am capable of getting to work by 5AM. Most days I struggle to make it here by 8 so this was a big feat for me. I had first aid training this morning. I had to get up at 3:30 which was not fun, but I made it on time. The nice thing too is I get out at 2 today since I was here early. I am going to use that time to get a haircut and get some stuff done around the house since I will be home alone for a few hours.

We had a few nice days weather wise, but we are back to cold again... Wed, 12 Mar 2014 11:50:32 EST Liquid Calories I’ve nearly stopped drinking pop. With the exception of a small glass on Sunday, I haven’t had any since the 4th. I’ve been drinking more water which is always good. I have noticed that it is much easier for me to drink water at work than it is at home. When I am at home I want to drink flavored things: orange juice, chocolate milk, etc. Last night I had a large glass of chocolate milk with dinner. That adds on a lot of calories! I need to make water more appealing at home. I am worki... Tue, 11 Mar 2014 11:24:54 EST March is going fast. We are down to the last month of the weight loss contest. I have gained back four of the eight pounds I had lost. It’s time to lose them again. I need to be strict with my calorie intake. I need to get my butt off the couch. The weather is finally warming up. I went on a walk outside at lunch with co-workers today and Friday. It felt so good to have the sun shining down on us.

Lorelei’s birthday is this weekend. I am excited for her party. We are having a small party wit... I ended the month a couple pounds up instead of down. Time to rock March and finish my weight loss competition at work with a bang. I've got a $150 prize on the line so I need to bring it! I am giving up pop. I am consuming too much of it which l... Sun, 2 Mar 2014 11:31:07 EST February Review -Complete 600 exercise minutes. FAIL. I was lame and only completed 545 minutes. Mon, 17 Feb 2014 10:56:26 EST Finally starting to feel good again I was sick the first half of February. I am not exaggerating. From January 30th through February 14th I had a terrible cold/infection. I was tired all the time and felt like I was coughing up a lung constantly. I missed three days of work and got in no exercise. Now I'm back! I am finally starting to feel normal. I still have a bit of a cough, but it is greatly improved. I exercised yesterday and today and it felt so good. I am so happy to not be sick anymore! Sun, 16 Feb 2014 20:52:21 EST Week ending 01-18-14 01-12: We went to my parents’ to celebrate my mom’s birthday. I made her a Hershey’s chocolate cake. It is one of her favorite cake recipe. It had coconut pecan frosting. My older sister came over with her kids as well. My nephew is only a few months older than Lorelei and it is so cute to watch them play together. She got a hold of one of his bottles (we use the same type so they are identical to hers). It was cute because he drinks a soy formula which she is not familiar with and whe... Mon, 20 Jan 2014 10:50:20 EST Week ending 01-11-14 01-05: Trip to Grandparents' house across state was cancelled due to the weather. Played some WIO, but other than that it was a lazy day.

01-06: Snow Day! I couldn't get out of my subdivision so I stayed home from work. My husband (who has 4 wheel drive) took Lorelei to daycare still so I couldn't get some stuff done around the house. I had a very productive day. I shoveled the driveway, played WIO, hung blinds in Lorelei's room, vacuumed, the main floor and the stairs, and sw... Fri, 10 Jan 2014 23:53:33 EST Week ending 01-04-14 01-01: I worked out, ate in range, and hung out at home. Our washer broke and got water all over the floor in the laundry room and in the basement below. Luckily, it is above the unfinished portion of the basement.

01-02: I went to all-you-can-eat sushi place for dinner with my in-laws. My brother-in-law is in town between semesters at UPenn and his girlfriend came to visit. This was the family’s first time meeting her so that was exciting. I came home exhausted and went to bed at ... I am very happy to introduce you all to my darling baby girl! Lorelei Grace was born on March 16th at 12:12 am. She weighed 8 lbs 13 oz and was 20.5 inches.

I have been at home with her for the past two weeks and I don't go back to work until April 29th. I am enjoying my time with her though I don't get anything done because I want to hold her all the time. She loves to be swaddled and makes a lot of funny faces.

Enjoy the pictures!

My last preggo pict... Sat, 30 Mar 2013 12:59:38 EST Two Weeks to go - No more work I saw my doctor yesterday for my weekly check and my blood pressure was through the roof! He sent me to the hospital to have them evaluate me and the baby some more and said we would induce if my blood pressure didn't go down. That was a little scary. Also said that I was done working. Everything went well at the hospital. I was there for three hours getting my blood pressure checked every 15 minutes. It was really good then which I am thankful for. I really don't want to have to be i... Thu, 7 Mar 2013 08:39:36 EST Baby Girl's room is done! I had a very productive weekend, let me tell you. Saturday we spent ALL DAY shopping with my inlaws. My feet were killing me by the time we were done, but we got the rest of the baby stuff purchased so it was worth it. Also, we went out to lunch beforehand and I had banana bread french toast that was so delicious.

I spent Sunday and Monday cleaning and organizing the baby's room. I got all of her blankets, sheets, and 0-3 month clothes washed and put away. The crib is set up a... Tue, 26 Feb 2013 12:44:14 EST Weird Food Thing I noticed Saturday when I went to eat a bowl of Crispix that they didn't taste right. I had cereal from the same box on Friday no problem. The problem on saturday was that I could distinctly taste the rice side of the cereal and the corn side of the cereal. They are supposed to meld in your mouth into one delicious Crispix flavor and they didn't. I couldn't even eat it.

Today at lunch I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and could distinctly separate the flavor of the peanu... Tue, 5 Feb 2013 12:39:09 EST Spaghetti Pie I made spaghetti pie for the first time last week. It was super easy and delicious. My husband said it was a keeper.

Below is the recipe if you are interested in trying it yourself. It reminded me of lasagna only a lot less work to make.

Ingredients
6 oz. spaghetti
2 tbs. butter
1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
2 well beaten eggs
1 cup fat free cottage cheese
1/2 lb. lean ground beef
13 oz. spaghetti sauce
1/2 cup grated mozzarella chees... Wed, 23 Jan 2013 12:40:19 EST 9 Weeks... I had an OB appointment yesterday. I am measuring right on schedule and the baby's heart beat is strong. I have appointments every two weeks now and I will be getting another ultrasound in about 4 weeks. That may be the last time I see her in the womb. I am excited to get to see her again.

I started my birth preparation classes on Monday. When we introduced ourselves our instructor had us say our favorite thing about the pregnancy and our biggest problem/concern.

He... Thu, 17 Jan 2013 12:33:40 EST 10 Weeks... Tomorrow begins what will probably feel like both the longest and shortest 10 weeks of my life. Long because I am tired and every part of my body aches, and I can't find a comfortable sleeping position. Short because HOLY CRAP I am going to be a mom! I am so excited to meet my baby girl! Also looking forward to maternity leave. The idea of not working for 6 weeks is really appealing to me right now.

I'm working on getting the baby's room ready. The crib is assembled and I am ... Wed, 9 Jan 2013 12:54:59 EST Only three months to go! Today marks three months until my little baby bundle of joy is due to arrive. I am so pumped! Last night my husband and I set up our living room (the stuff was hanging out in the baby’s room). This weekend we will finish cleaning out the baby’s room and set up the crib.

I am very proud of my husband. He isn’t one to normally jump at the opportunity to work on the house, but he has been very willing to help. We were planning on going to a hockey game on Wednesday, but he said w... Fri, 21 Dec 2012 10:23:06 EST Best Thanksgiving Ever! I felt Baby Girl kick for the first time! It was amazing. I was laying on the air mattress on the floor on my stomach watching TV and she kicked me. At first I wasn't sure what it was, but she did it a couple more times and I just got this huge grin on my face. My husband asks what I am all smiley about and I told him. He really wants to feel her move, but she isn't big enough yet to feel on the outside.

Now that I have felt it I am noticing she kicks a lot. It is like someon... Mon, 26 Nov 2012 12:40:09 EST Baby News: It's a .... I had my ultrasound appointment on Thursday. It went well. I have to go back on the 15th for another ultrasound because the baby's arms were blocking the face the entire time. My husband came and he loved getting to see our baby GIRL.

We are having a girl! I am so excited. Neither of us had a preference, but it is still so exciting to know and refer to the baby as her and she instead of it.

I still haven't felt anything, but the ultrasound technician said that bas... Mon, 5 Nov 2012 11:45:34 EST Pregnancy Update Today I am 19 weeks 5 days. Almost halfway there! I have an ultrasound appointment on Thursday (exactly 20 weeks) and I will hopefully find out the gender. I'll be happy with either, but I can't wait to know. My husband is coming to the appointment with me. I am excited for him to see the baby.

I am still waiting for the first kick. So far I haven't felt anything. I am hoping I will soon. I am sure everything is OK, but it would still be reassuring to be able to feel the ba... Tue, 30 Oct 2012 12:38:29 EST Hunger Issues I am having trouble recognizing when I am truly hungry. In my first trimester it was eat all the time or risk getting sick. I hate vomiting so I chose to eat every couple of hours to not run the risk of actually allowing my stomach to empty. Now in my second semester my body can handle going longer without eating, but I think I stretched my stomach out because I feel hungry ALL THE TIME. I am not eating as often, but I am still scared to go too long without eating because whenever I do, I... Tue, 23 Oct 2012 12:35:08 EST Pregnancy Announcements This is what I posted to FB last Thursday to announce my pregnancy.

Best birthday present ever! Expected completion: March 21, 2013 (my birthday).

I also brought a cake into work to announce it there. This is the cake I brought in. I sent an e-mail out with a picture of the cake letting everyone know to come and enjoy a ... Thu, 11 Oct 2012 09:49:59 EST Baseballapalooza (and testing during vacation) I am on vacation starting next week Wednesday. Our Baseballapalooza trip that my husband planned last November is finally here! We will be going to 10 baseball games in 10 days at 10 different ballparks throughout Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. I am very excited. We are going to a Toledo Mudhens game which I think I am most excited for. They are a Detroit Tigers affiliate for those unfamiliar with the team. We are going to two major league games and the rest are minor league.

... Fri, 13 Jul 2012 10:05:25 EST Me? In range? On a holiday? To some of you this may be no big thing, but to me this is spectacular! I think this is the first holiday that I have been in range since I started tracking in November 2010.

I am so proud of myself! I spent the evening downtown listening to music and surrounded by food. There was fresh popped kettle corn. I love kettle corn. I didn’t get any though. I love wearing this now because when I first got it I couldn't wear it buttoned up because it pulled at my belly a bit and I don't like to accentuate my fatness. It didn't look good.

So I am already happy because I am wearing this cardigan that is now loose on me and my husband tops it off by telling me I looked "extra skinny". She left the company back in 2009, but we have kept in touch and see each other occasionally. It has been several months since I have seen her in person.

We were meeting at the restaurant and she got there before me so she was already at the table when I got there. The first words out of her mouth when she saw me were, "Oh my God, you look amazing!"
It kinda made my day. 334 Tue, 11 Oct 2011 23:14:09 EST January 1st - October 1st I weighed myself for the fall challenge today. The result: 194.4 pounds. That is 20.1 pounds less than I weighed on New Year's Day this year. My reward is a trip to the clay art studio to paint some pottery. I have been wanting to go there for a while, but I was waiting until I earned it.

My mom and Grandma were over for a bit today and both of them commented on how much weight I have lost. Over the years, I've given myself a thousand reasons to keep running, but it always comes back to where it started. It comes down to self-satisfaction and a sense of achievement."
- Steve Prefontaine

I have a note in my cell phone that I wrote when I first started running. It says: Running is fun. Thu, 1 Sep 2011 12:17:59 EST I am a Sneaky Sneakster I wanted my husband to go for a walk with me tonight, but he refused. I said, Fine. I will go myself and take Stanlee. You have to explain to Duncan (our other dog) why he doesn't get to go for a walk too". So I handed him Duncan and got Stanlee ready to go. I told him he could let Duncan go once we were out the door. So Stanlee and I left for our walk. We were not far into our walk when I hear my name being called behind me. I turn around and see my husband and Duncan running up to u... Fri, 25 Feb 2011 19:50:47 EST Whiny Dog Yesterday I asked my husband to take a walk with the dogs and me to town. He said he didn't want to go, but I made him go anyway because I needed to go to the post office so I wouldn't be able to take the dogs if I went alone. He grumbled, but once we were out there he was fine and enjoyed himself.

Today I asked him to go for another walk and he didn't complain. So we started out on a walk around the block and our dog, Stanlee, whined the whole time. My husband thought it was b... Sun, 20 Feb 2011 13:39:15 EST Old Introduction on Spark page. Written November 2010. I joined SparkPeople in March of 2009, but just started using it in November 2010. I am in my mid-20's and according to my Wii Fit I need to lose 80lbs for my BMI to be in the normal range.

I have been slightly overweight since puberty, but when I met my husband in college I really started gaining weight. I decided I am tired of being overweight and it is time to do something about it.

When I step on the Wii Fit board I don't want it to say, "That's obese!"
Sun, 13 Feb 2011 12:53:53 EST One bad weekend does not a failure make. I had a bad weekend nutritionally. I went over my calories on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday was my little sister’s graduation from college. We went out to lunch/dinner at a restaurant in Grand Rapids called the Twisted Rooster. I have been there before and really like their food.
