I know I've been MIA for a few days..maybe 2 weeks?
I FINALLY quit my job that was completely stressing me out. I feel like shackles have been broken and I am freeeeeee! 224 104

I accepted the recreation director position at a pediatric skilled nursing facility and also a part-time evenings/sundays at a hospital 4 miles from my house to create a therapeutic recreation program for a new transitional care unit they are opening in March. Sun, 3 Feb 2013 09:36:32 EST 9 vegetables in one meal! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5201315 So I'm reading the EAT TO LIVE book and although I have not finished it yet, nor am I completely following any kind of "diet", I have started to make a conscious effort to eat more fruits and vegetables. I'm launching on a journey of healthy living and eating. And want to make a commitment to this for the rest of my life.

Some of you know, I am currently in California visiting my sister and her husband (both of whom are very healthy). Tonight while they studied (they are taking a ... Thu, 10 Jan 2013 22:30:40 EST When does the scale start to move? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4798964 Good evening SP friends! So I'm feeling pretty frustrated. The scale hasn't budged in months. I'm eating more veggies, fruits and lean meats, I'm drinking more water (i'm not a big water drinker but i'm learning), i'm exercising, i take the stairs instead of the elevator, I have a SP buddy and her and I check on each other, I read articles and other stories on SP….what gives? Can anyone give me suggestions? I'm truly lost here. Wed, 21 Mar 2012 23:25:44 EST Honey Grilled Pork Chops http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4794103 The weather was gorgeous today and I decided to try some Spark recipes! I had a strawberry smoothie in the afternoon while I enjoyed the sunshine on my deck and made honey grilled pork chops and "not" fried, fried rice for dinner. It was all delicious! Fist time I tried any spark recipes and I'll be sure to start using them more often!
Sun, 18 Mar 2012 22:40:49 EST Lazy Sunday? Not me! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4784748 I didn't have time to blog last night and just had to share this with all my spark friends! Yesterday it was absolutely gorgeous outside so my fiancé and I decided to go for a bike ride on a bike path. We ended exploring some new sites and rode for a total of 65 minutes. Picture below of us at the end of the trail before we turned around to go back to the truck.

So THEN a friend of mine sent a text aski... Mon, 12 Mar 2012 23:45:53 EST Where I've been and where I'm going... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4656049 Hello Spark friends!
It's amazing how quickly time can pass you by. It doesn't seem possible I have not been in touch with the spark world for almost 2 months. Life can really get in the way sometimes. I finished my semester at school…it was the toughest semester to date and I proudly finished with a B in one class and a B+ in the other. Not ideal, but I truly believe the best I could do at that time. Work was beyond unbearable just before 2011 ended. An employee down and I was working ... Wed, 4 Jan 2012 04:56:38 EST Healthy Week http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4547454 I have found myself making excuses again for why I haven't been sticking to my healthy goals. SO my goal this week was to focus on positives instead of focusing on the things I'm trying to stop or avoid. Example…instead of focusing on losing weight I focused on making a commitment to exercise at least 3 times this week and eat an apple a day. I was able to successfully accomplish this. Instead of saying DON'T eat this or DON'T do that I focused on WHAT I WILL DO.

Also, with a reco... Sat, 22 Oct 2011 07:24:25 EST Words of encouragement welcomed http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4503534 I have had a rough ride the past two weeks and unfortunately have not been taking care of myself. My grandfather has passed away and I have been spending all of my spare time between work and night classes for grad school with my grandmother. I have gained a few pounds and I do feel awful. I am exhausted and just want to curl up in bed and sleep. How can I get out of this slump? I don't even know where to start. I don't want to sound like I'm whining. To TOP IT OFF at my grandfather's funeral... Sun, 25 Sep 2011 19:27:25 EST Dropped the ball http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4460128 Hurricane Irene hit the eastcoast hard, including upstate NY where I live. The aftermath is completely devastating. This week has been a strange one for me. No engery and no desire to do anything that I need to do, including exercise and healthy eating. I feel awful. My heart burn is unbearable too. I need to jump back on my horse and keep on riding to healthy living!

I wore a dress to work today, in hopes that it would give me a little boost of the "feel goods". I have PT this ev... Thu, 1 Sep 2011 08:59:12 EST Frustrated. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4436257 It has been two weeks since I joined SP and one week since I went back to work. last week the scale dropped 0.2 lbs., big deal, but it was still less than when I started. Today it was back to 232.
Now that I have returned to work, I am EXHAUSTED by the time I get home. Waking up early enough to ride my bike or walk before work hasn't been working for me either. In addition to that, twice this week by two different people I was referred to as "chubby"! Total boost for the self confidence... Fri, 19 Aug 2011 09:01:57 EST High-Ho, High-Ho, it's back to work I go http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4422245 I set my alarm for 5:45am this morning. I woke up no problem, turned my alarm off (which I have switched to music instead of that insane BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!…you all know what I'm talking about…try music, it helps!) I continued to lay in bed for 15 minutes and read two spark articles that were in my email from my phone. Once I got out of bed I realized it was also Friday, Fridays are going to be my weigh in day, so I went downstairs pulled the scale out, crossed my fingers and closed my eyes. Wh... Fri, 12 Aug 2011 06:40:10 EST French Fries http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4414943 This morning I woke up 30 minutes before my alarm was even suppose to go off - 5:45am- and this is very unusual for me because I usually lay there as long as I can get away with it. I felt GREAT! I rode my stationary bike for 30 minutes before I left for PT. Today was day 8 of PT. It's been 2 months and 1 day since I had surgery on my shoulder. I have been home, out of work and limited on any kind of physical activity since 6/7/11. HOWEVER! TODAY I was actually able to use the elliptical for ... Mon, 8 Aug 2011 17:00:06 EST Day 2 of SP http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4412428 So I joined Spark yesterday and I slowly but surely am learning to use the site. It is quite inspiring to read stories of challenges and successes. I am on a mission to become healthier for many, many reasons and always start out strong but after several weeks fall off the wagon. One of my biggest supports is my uncle. Yesterday we had a conversation that made me believe he's tired of my broken promises to loss weight and live a healthier life. A few weeks ago I started riding my stationary b... Sun, 7 Aug 2011 14:03:58 EST
