Tue, 17 Jul 2012 23:06:30 EST going to the flood zone http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4956619 I will be leaving tomorrow to go back to my home town to help my mom. My sister and I will travel by car and I'm hoping to keep away from bad food decisions while on the road. I plan to take fruits and veggies with dip to try and stave off fast food. I'm also trying to decrease my sugar addiction. I recently looked at how much sugar I was consuming in a day and realized I need to get this taken care of. The last time I got my cholesterol checked my triglycerides were way out of whack. U... Thu, 5 Jul 2012 14:12:34 EST tired http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4459603 In the middle of major remodel, I'm tired and inhaling fumes from clear coat finish, had to sleep with windows open and inhaled several allergens, head hurts and had emotional eating meltdown today. Hoping remodel will mostly be done by the end of this week and I can get some sleep and not inhale things not healthy for me. I need my "no" and "portion control" buttons to go from totally demolished and seriously compromised to functional again. Wed, 31 Aug 2011 23:02:32 EST the big 1/2 to 100 birthday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4421785 I started my last week in my 40's well but after the rest of my family showed up bad habits crept back in. Too much eating out, too much sugar, too much processed foods. I've gone up 5 pounds, I'm tired and I need to get back on track. On the other hand, I still weigh less than 1 year ago and I know what I need to do. I've got veggies in the garden, raspberries, blue berries, strawberries, plums, peaches, and rhubarb. I'm hoping to drop those birthday celebration pounds in the next week ... Thu, 11 Aug 2011 22:08:23 EST tired http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4237415 My 3 day weekend was kind of boring. Saturday I had back pain, abdominal pain, butt pain and a headache. Noticed I was running a low grade fever so laid low. Sunday and Monday fever still there, back pain better, abdominal pain better, butt pain gone and still slight head ache. Hope to get back on track tomorrow for exercise, at least diet was ok during this period. Had a colonoscopy last Tuesday and praying biopsy is negative. Mon, 16 May 2011 21:34:40 EST getting diet back on track http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4166443 I spent the last week of March in Minnesota helping get my mom and her husband moved into an assisted living facility. It was very stressful as my mom has dementia and tends to fear change or throwing anything away including bills from the 1960's. I ate out a lot but was able to get several walks in while I was there and maintained my weight. Unfortunately since I've been back I've been stress eating and can't seem to get a handle on it. I have been good about staying on my exercise routi... Thu, 14 Apr 2011 21:18:33 EST new year's http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3898814 Well I made it through the Thanksgiving to New Year's holidays with a 3 pound overall wt loss. it was 6 pounds Christmas eve but that last week of the year gave me some trouble. Still that's one of my best holiday seasons. I was on vacation the last week of the year and I slept in every day. Unfortunately now it's hard to get up for work and I'm really wiped out when I get home. Been spotty on exercise and I need to get back in the swing. I did really well when I was on vacation breakin... Thu, 6 Jan 2011 23:27:47 EST Portland 1/2 marathon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3709106 Well, we did it. We made it though 13.1 miles for the inaugural Portland 1/2 marathon. We did the full marathon in 2008 and I thought I couldn't get any wetter but I was wrong. It poured on us at times but we still had a good time and there was a great atmosphere with bands and many spectators cheering us on. I'm glad we did it but I'm still kind of sore today but I know it will be better in the next couple of days. I also saw some very inspirational people doing the race including one w... Mon, 11 Oct 2010 23:04:06 EST family free fall http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3689829 On 9/15 I called my sister who went back to stay with our mother due to increased confusion and her husband was in a skilled nursing center recovering from 3 falls in 1 day. My sister pleaded with me to come back and help as well due to her greatly increased confusion. It's been hard. I was able to get FMLA time from work and flew back on 9/17. We saw the lawyer on the following Tuesday and took my mom to the doctor on Thursday. Her husband was released on the 24th and I flew back on th... Sun, 3 Oct 2010 20:39:30 EST Labor Day Weekend http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3610147 It's been nice having this weekend off. I didn't do much but sleep today, my neck seemed to be referring pain to my left shoulder and I think I may have jammed a facet joint. I've been doing some self mobs and stretching and took some aleve which seems to have helped some. Yesterday was a great day. I got up and did the bike trainer for 30 minutes followed by my total gym workout and then I took the dogs for a 2 mile walk. Later in the day we went to the OR state fair and had a quiet eve... Sun, 5 Sep 2010 22:33:59 EST weird summer http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3571700 I got back from Minnesota 2 weeks ago and I'm still recovering. My sisters and I went back due to concerns about an elderly parent's living situation. Nothing really resolved yet. While there 1 sister had a medical emergency. Stressful trip. Last week went to my neighbor's funeral and unsympathetic boss helped me over the edge. I've been having some emotional eating problems for about the last 5 days. Sort of got it back under control today. Will have MD appt. 9/1 and am trying to keep... Tue, 24 Aug 2010 23:21:45 EST trying to keep on track http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3391090 I was done with work early today. It was raining and I just wanted to come home and sleep on the couch or watch tv. Instead of caving in I decided to get on the bike trainer first and pedaled for just over 30 minutes. By then my husband was home and I cooked a healthy dinner and then had blueberries with almond milk for dessert instead of getting ice cream. There is hope for me yet. Thu, 1 Jul 2010 22:19:31 EST the big white dog http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2683323 We were blessed with being able to rescue a 3 year old great pyrenees dog on 12-11-09. He is slowly becoming acclimated to our house and routines. It's been a fun ride so far. Gilda, our golden retriever, is getting used having him around. His name is Jackson and he's getting more animated every day. Sat, 2 Jan 2010 23:46:20 EST Emmy's gone http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2366567 We finally had to put our old girl down this week. She was a great dog, protected us, loved us, and even tolerated Gilda when we brought her into our home. We will miss her dearly. She has left us with many good memories. She got to go on one last walk on Saturday and then we think she might have had a stroke on Sunday. We made the hard decision on Sunday night and took her to the ER vet to have her put down. We loved her. Wed, 2 Sep 2009 00:16:21 EST vacation http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2083090 I'm on vacation this week. Good for activity but not so good for nutrition. My husband has been on a pizza kick this week. We started with a pizza from Old Chicago last Saturday and then when we went to the beach (Long Beach) we had pizza again yesterday (Wednesday). I told him I shouldn't have pizza ever again (at least not the pizza he likes - meat lovers). My cholesterol was up the last time I had it checked and I really don't want to go back on cholesterol meds. They made me constip... Thu, 21 May 2009 21:30:17 EST finally nice weather http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1946321 I haven't looked at my spark page in a long time. It's beautiful out today. I went to the gym after church to do my weights. Then, after I got home I went for about a 35 minute run/walk. Right now I can only run 3-5 minutes before I get too short of breath and my heart rate gets too high. I walk until I get back into a good range and then try again. I seem to do better on the treadmill than outside, but being outside is so much better. Last week I did a 10k with my friend from work. I... Sun, 5 Apr 2009 22:13:41 EST It's hot http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=645417 The heat wave begins. I'm starting this week out well. Got up early to do some hiking with poles around the 5 acres for about 20 minutes before it started getting warm. The llamas think I'm kind of weird and the dogs already know I am.

The new job is going well but I really need to slow down my pace. I'm getting quality time to spend with each patient vs. trying to overlap treatments and fly like a mad woman. I think this will be good for decreasing my stress level. I just ne... Mon, 9 Jul 2007 23:50:40 EST Independence day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=637341 This week I've started a new job and cut my drive time by 30 minutes a day. This has helped with getting some exercise in daily as I'm not so tired by the time I get home.

Also, my garden is starting to produce some nice vegetables which I'm using in my salads I take for lunch. I've never had vegies this fresh before. It's been awsome. The only problem is I can't keep up with the produce. Wed, 4 Jul 2007 23:53:32 EST
