I'll be back in about a week. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6490959 Thank you. I lost the love of my life tonight - the only person to ever love me more than my Mom & Pop. I always said, "I won't marry until I find a man who treats me better than my mother," and I found him. He needed me and he needed to take care of me. 33 years. I spent half my life with him. God was very good to me.

4 days on hospice and he passed.
33 years to the day that I met him.

I'll be back. I told him I'd rather have fleas and he's still here than no fleas and no Ray.

Ray used to go out and "work" 30 minutes at a time and I would clean. Well, we've been glued together at the hip, 24/7 for the better part of 2 ye... Mon, 16 Oct 2017 14:11:58 EST ... so Ray turned 96! WooHoo!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6414962 Yes, you read that right - Ray reached 96!

Ok, so the downside is the other night he didn't recognize me as his wife. Life goes on.

So he doesn't know that we're in the house we purchased together 29 years ago. Life goes on.

He can't grasp that we live here alone, just the two of us - yuppers, Life goes on.

He asks me daily where the closest bathroom is - I keep wanting to tell him that I moved it - but Life still goes on.

He is still a... Mon, 25 Sep 2017 14:48:03 EST Just so you know, I am alive and well http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6404139 I know, I've been MIA but Ray has turned into a 24/7 situation and he has to come first. He's starting to lose cognition, seeing people and yesterday forgot we were married when I tried to shower him. Bless his heart, he said to me, "what will people think if we shower together?" Then he asked me if we were married. He looked around to make sure no one saw us. We live here alone for 29 years.

So, you can imagine that SP has to be put on the back burner. My sanity must come fi... Sat, 26 Aug 2017 09:23:10 EST YES! Jackie Holbrook is doing better, thanks for all prayers! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6386974 Since no one knew, I finally just called the "stressed-out wife" of Jackie and learned that he is doing PT 3X week and has even returned part-time to work, 2 days a week!

They are so very thankful for all your prayers!

They have helped!! He was in poor shape when I asked two weeks back and doing so much better now!

Huggers to all,
love,
linda Thu, 13 Jul 2017 14:13:42 EST Thank you! Thank you all!! I am so glad I stayed with the Dawgs & SP!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6385181 Yesterday when answering Dbeau's comment, I had an epiphany.

Last night when I finally posted my weight *up 2 lbs* and Dbeau posted on my page - I realized that I have been dealing with "stuff" for over 2 years now. No wonder dieting just doesn't matter as much to me anymore. There have been 3+ deaths of friends, from 60 years to 90 years - but all were friends. 2 of the widows worked hard to stay thin throughout, the last had herself been widowed a few years earlier (she was per... Sun, 9 Jul 2017 11:53:15 EST Yesterday's Blessings http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6383618 I told Ray yesterday morning that I was going out to mow. I came in after about an hour and he was upset - where had I been?!

*sigh* One day at a time.

On the flipside, he ate a chicken leg quarter and some 'california mix veggies' for lunch, and took the golfcar around to watch me work in the afternoon. I told him, sitting in a chair or sitting on the golfcar - both were still sitting outside and the golfcar he has to use his legs! And I said I like the company - ... Wed, 5 Jul 2017 11:45:04 EST Prayers needed for Jackie Holbrook, a "friend of the community" who had a major stroke! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6381680 The man's name is Jackie Holbrook and something happened with his medicines and it let loose a blood clot (that's all I remember) and he had a major stroke.

He is home now and his wife, Linda, is struggling with having to tend to him - nothing like this had ever happened to them.

Please pass the word as best you can. This is a man who freely gave away things like a Golf Car to a man who became paralyzed - he would help anyone he could.

Thank you - I appreciat... Fri, 30 Jun 2017 14:42:44 EST can you stand a little good news? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6380791 if you can stand a little good news? I have Ray on "major probiotics" and he's eating real food again! yesterday veggies, today he wanted an egg with toast! I had some brown & serve rolls in the freezer and made a tiny burger to go with them.

So, he had his hot cocoa with ice cream, 1 jumbo egg with roll & 1 oz. burger and finished about 1/2 cup more ice cream as well as what was in the cocoa.

P.S. so that no one will have to ask, I'm giving him:
Healthy Ori... Wed, 28 Jun 2017 10:44:01 EST 2017 Summer 5% Challenge Community Team http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6378375 I usually blog this as soon as I get my invite to the Official 5% Team but I have been busy with my DH, Ray.

It's not too late to join if you're interested - many have made the 5% in the 8 weeks of challenge. Even if you don't (I certainly haven't), we learn good habits and meet some wonderfully supportive people.

For some reason, we are behind on the number we usually get signing up - I can only imagine that like me, life got in the way. I tended my DH and he is fin... Thu, 22 Jun 2017 14:12:01 EST Thrush and Acidophilus **Acidophilus needs refrigeration!! OMG!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6378313 Ray developed a 'problem' in his backside - probably related to the Thrush and a month's worth of Nystatin Liquid.

A neighbor with a paralyzed hubby learned that we must MUST up the dosages of Acidophilus (probiotics) to the equivalent of 4-Billion or more to fight yeast infections and yes, Thrush is a yeast infection.

Since doing this, Ray's appetite has improved and I believe he is getting stronger again.

After much research and searching online, I found w... Thu, 22 Jun 2017 11:20:42 EST Dementia Care: Surrounded by Sound - an article at AgingCare.com http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6369047 I found this in my mail today and wanted to share. While iPods are scarce, MP3 players ARE still out there!

This article was written by Sarah Jane and posted at AgingCare.com

It’s been almost a year since I first put together a playlist of Mum’s favorite music. Trawling iTunes for the greatest hits of the 1940s and 50s, Mum and I happily rediscovered the songs of her youth—Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, Vera Lynn and the rest.

Once the compilation was burne... Wed, 31 May 2017 12:13:55 EST Support Bar ideas & Waterproofing idea for your furniture http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6367744 Ray needed me to add another couple of Support Grab Bars and the question was, where to place them. At first I was going to place one in front of the sink cabinet and the other on the Towel Closet.

Then I realized, he would be forever banging his hand against the countertop and the other would be behind the door. I don't want him closing the door.

This is what I wound up doing:
On top of the counter and it offers full support <img src="http://photosaws.sparkpeop... Sun, 28 May 2017 14:24:22 EST
