Pretty much everybody in my family has diabetes. My mother also takes medicine to control her cholesterol. Well, on Tuesday, my Dr told me that my cholesterol is high. The good thing is that it's not way out of wack. However, I do need to bring it down and guess what he said......"you need to lose weight". Another good thing is that I re-started my journey to a healthy lifestyle on Aug 7 (funny how I remember the d... Thu, 21 Oct 2010 14:02:40 EST 1st Goal met! Yeah!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3698779 210!!!! This was my 1st goal and although my goal was to be at 210 by the end of September, I'm so happy to be here and look forward to reaching my next goal of 200. :) I usually weigh in on Wednesdays but couldn't do so because of work so I had to weigh myself today. I drank my water, ate all my calories, exercised twice, and kept my goal of 1lb a week in mind. This way of losing weight has really made an impact on me. I'm learning how much to eat, and what to eat. I'm finding what I can e... Thu, 7 Oct 2010 09:36:26 EST So Close! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3679805 Weighed myself today. I'm at 211. My goal is 210 by the end of September. The exact weight for today is 211.2. So I'll be weighing myself on Friday and if I can lose the .2 then I'll have met my first goal of 210 by the end of Sept. <BR> <BR> Raul Wed, 29 Sep 2010 14:12:30 EST Taking Responsibility - Taking Action http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3661458 Well i got what i expected this week. No loss, but good news is that i didn't gain. It's only one person's fault...me. I didn't drink my water, didn't eat the right kind of food, and didn't exercise as much as i should. I believe that if i had just exercised more i would've met omy goal of losing 1 pound but i didn't and so i have no one or nothing to blame except my self and I accept this. I also know that I WILL be doing a heck of a lot better this next weigh in. I am upset with myself but ... Wed, 22 Sep 2010 11:42:11 EST On track with my goal http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3640516 This is awesome! I lost TWO pounds this past week! I've been making sure to eat all my calories, drink my water, 2 to 3 days of exercise, and I keep my goal of one pound per week in mind. This past week I had a few drinks, but everything in moderation. If you look at my nutrition, I'm still eating with my family at Chick fil A, Wendy's, Hamburgers, etc. However I'm substituting the fries for a fruit cup, drinking diet drinks, and so on and so forth. I find myself looking and reading lables t... Wed, 15 Sep 2010 11:34:29 EST 4 small changes making a difference http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3619844 In one of my previous blogs I wrote about how I realized that I dont need to lose all the weight NOW as long as I lose it. Well I've made 4 changes and it's gotten me results. The first change was to drink 8 glasses of water. This pretty much doesn't allow me to drink soft drinks or anything else. I've told myself that I'm only allowed to drink soda, or anything else after I've had my 8 glasses of water. The second thing I'm doing is that I'm tracking most of what I eat and watching my calori... Wed, 8 Sep 2010 20:35:42 EST Weekend Disaster (follow up) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3596958 I lost 1lb this past week! Wow! What a surprise! I did horrible this past weekend and yesterday was my 8yr wedding anniversary so we went out to eat and didn't hold back. 3 out of the 7 days i messed up. However, the other 4 days i did great at staying within my caloie range, tracking everything, and keeping my 1lb goal in focus. Plus I only exercised twice. However i do have to say that one of those times i burned over 1000 calories (by skating). So I'm happy. Now for the next week. 1 more l... Wed, 1 Sep 2010 14:13:48 EST Weekend disaster http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3588523 As the title reads, it was a weekend disaster. I didn't keep track of my calories (and i know i went way over), didn't drink my water, didn't exercise, and lost focus of my 1lb goal. On saturday i told myself "it was ok for one day" then Sunday came around it continued. :( I started off right today and plan to keep it going. My weigh-ins are on Wed so we'll see how much damage i did...hopefully not too much. I'll be happy if i dont gain any weight and surprised if i lose weight. Mon, 30 Aug 2010 10:51:10 EST Here's how i'm getting points. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3558108 When I first started, I got a lot of points through spinning the wheel, posting in blogs, reading articles, etc etc. This time I've decided that I want to earn most of my points by keeping track of what I eat, drinking 8 glasses of water, and by tracking my exercise. I will still be reading articles because they're very informative and definetly help but most of my points will be earned doing the "hard" stuff. :) Fri, 20 Aug 2010 18:58:17 EST Eye opener http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3552165 I want to lose 30lb. I always thought that I had to do it NOW. But the other day I saw/read bout somebody that had lost 100lb in one year and figured that they lost 2lb (average) per week. Sure it took a year, but they got it done and were transformed in only 1 year. I'm sure she thinks back to how she looked and felt just 1 year ago. I realized that it dosn't have to be done NOW as long as it gets done. So my goal is to simply lose 1 to 1.5lb per week. If I lose 1lb per week, in 1 year I wil... Wed, 18 Aug 2010 23:50:36 EST Yesterday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3008181 They say hind sight is 20/20. So i'm doing this to reflect on how I did. This will also kinda serve as my diary. This helps me stay motivated or get get back on track. This is a blog so please tell me how YOU are doing too.....Yesterday i exercised before i went to work, ate well, even had my 8 glasses of water. Today hasn't gone too good (no exercise, haven't eaten well)but the day isnt over yet. I'll let you know tomorow. Tue, 16 Mar 2010 19:18:06 EST doing it for me http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2983887 At work I wake up at 5 or 5:30 to review reports before the end of my shift. I used to wake up at 5 or 5:30 to get ready for work. I've been thinking for a while, "I do it for work. Why can't/don't i do it for myself?" Well beginning tomorow morning I AM!!! I'll let you know how it goes..... Wed, 10 Mar 2010 18:02:53 EST Passing grade http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2975842 had a great breakfast, lunch, and snack. But totally messed up for dinner. Oh well. I've been reading that this is about changing little by little. So tomorow I'll see if I can have another 2 good healthy meals. I'll be able to say that 4 out of 6 meals were healthy which means I'm at 77% for eating healthy meals. If this was for a school grade, I'd be passing. Will be working towards the "B", then the "A".
