Day 1 of 60 for InsanityMax30. Day 1 of 100 for 10k steps/no fanfiction/Paleo challenges. T-169 until I turn 40. Wow--that's a lot, huh? I plan to blog as much as I can (every day?) to track my exercise & eating on my way to reaching these goals.
So what happened today?

Exercise: Cardio Challenge, 33 min, 160/183, 393 calories. I did about 1/2 regular, 1/2 modified, maxed out at 16:40. I went hard, it felt good, I can see the progress I've made since the end of... Mon, 15 Feb 2016 22:02:00 EST Day 1 (Again) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5100472 This is Day #1 of Paleo/Whole30 challenge, part 2. The food cravings are back, which is unfortunate, as last Thursday (day 10), I felt I had turned the corner on cravings foods that aren't good for me. Today's craving: a bagel. Fortunately, I also craved broccoli and I indulged Oh well. I had tons of broccoli today and it was SOOO good.

Today's exercise was TaeBo. Billy Blanks killed me. At least I'll sleep really well tonight. Mon, 15 Oct 2012 21:00:51 EST Starting Paleo Again on 10/15 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5099229 This past weekend, I made the choice to fall off the Paleo bandwagon. I take full responsibility for the fact that I fought a battle with myself over eating the ice cream on Saturday (10/13) and allowed my cravings to overpower my will. Today, I chose to have spaghetti and a donut as well.

Needless to say, after 13 successful days of Paleo/Whole30, I feel like utter crap. It's been a long time since I've been so bloated. I liked how I felt, especially in the past week, and want t... Sun, 14 Oct 2012 22:45:26 EST Update from Day 11 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5095824 Here I am, almost two weeks in, still going strong on Paleo. The sugar cravings appear to have subsided. I'm still having difficulty eating enough, especially since I've started exercising again and even doing some intense workouts besides (e.g., today was Billy Blanks Cardio Explosion--YOWZA!).

I've already made plans for my cheat meal on Nov. 1st. A co-worker and I are scheduled to go to the most sinful Mexican restauarant in the area. Not only is the food pretty darn authentic (... Thu, 11 Oct 2012 22:13:27 EST Cravings http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5093314 It's Day 9 of the October Paleo Challenge and I'm still going. More importantly, the cravings have begun to subside. Someone came around with chocolate bars today. I walked by mac & cheese in the work cafeteria, right after I exercised (Mike Donavanik's Extreme Burn is NO JOKE), and didn't blink. I don't even want tortilla chips!

I had beef meatballs for dinner with broccoli. Oh, it was sooo good! I didn't even miss the fact there was no spaghetti with it. Tue, 9 Oct 2012 22:19:23 EST Week 1 Weigh-In (aka Water Weight) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5092063 Drive-by blog with results of 1 week of Paleo/modified Whole30.

10/1 Weight: 166.3
10/8 Weight: 160.5

Loss of 5.8lbs, of which I'm sure 5 is water weight. I was seriously bloated at the end of last month. Mon, 8 Oct 2012 23:25:49 EST Teeth Whitening http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5090543 I'm an hour into my inaugaral 2-hour teeth whitening plan from my dentist. The whitening gel has a rather putrid taste and I'm not allowed to drink anything (not even water) during these 2 hours! I'll need to wear the tray daily for the next 3 weeks to see results. Why did I sign up for this again (and pay almost $300 for this)?

As the dental hygenist said, "The things we do for vanity." Sun, 7 Oct 2012 21:42:52 EST Le Weekend http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5089381 The first weekend on a Paleo Challenge is generally the hardest for me. My day/time isn't structured, I'm running errands all day that put me face-to-face with all kind of cravings, and my body has hit the energy wall. A bean burrito sounds SOOOO good (yes, I do like Mexican food)!

I'm happy to say that I've successfully made it through Saturday. I'm sure Sunday morning's weigh-in will incentive me to stay the course for the rest of the day.

That said, I came across some... Sat, 6 Oct 2012 21:07:09 EST Crazy Exercise DVD http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5088385 Have you ever completed a workout and asked yourself "why did you put yourself through that?" That was me this morning after the RushFit Full Body Strength and Conditioning DVD. Seriously, it's Crossfit on DVD.

Round 1: 5 min AMRAP 10 air squats + 5 hindu pushups (I did those on knees)
1 min rest
Round 2: 5 min AMRAP Turkish Get-up to 3 single-leg DB back rows (alternate sides)
1 min rest
Round 3: 5 min. Fri, 5 Oct 2012 21:46:16 EST Random Craving today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5087262 It's Day 4, which is typically the worst day of cravings when eating the Paleo way. It was also a really busy/stressful day (of a busy/stressful week) where I didn't eat lunch. The day could've ended badly; cheese enchiladas, tortilla chips, and ice cream bad.

But it didn't. I held fast and had turkey and broccoli (a lot of broccoli) for dinner.

Anyway, random craving today is donuts. I'm not a donut or muffin eater at all. You can put it in front of me and I won't even ... Thu, 4 Oct 2012 23:41:26 EST The Cravings List http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5085823 It's Day 3 of Paleo/modified Whole30. Previous experience (i.e. Paleo challenges) indicates that cravings will hit hard today. And right on schedule, there they are. I'm trying a new tactic, though; instead of being annoyed that I have cravings, I'm going to write all of them down. In 27 days, I'll return to this blog and see if any of the cravings remain.

Random00b's Cravings on October 3rd:

1) fresh baked bread
2) spaghetti
3) oatmeal cookies, also ginger mol... Wed, 3 Oct 2012 21:59:45 EST I broke a sports bra! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5084438 Today is my second day of Paleo/Whole30 and the first day of exercise for the month of October. Now that I'm exercising consistently, I'm realizing that I no longer have enough "good" sports bras. If I don't have time to do laundry or wash out my workout clothes, I can end up using clothing that's seen better days. This came to a head this morning.

I got up at 5:30a and decided to work out to Bob Harper's Ultimate Cardio Body DVD. It's over an hour, but you're working so hard (and ... Tue, 2 Oct 2012 22:06:33 EST Because I'm going to need lots of cheering to get through this... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5080470 I'm sharing this with everyone. Starting October 1, I will be doing Whole30...though I'll be honest: there will be post workout smoothies after the 90 minute boot camp craziness I do on weekends. So maybe it's not truly Whole30, but I will be doing the cleanest Paleo I've done since July 2010.

Sun, 30 Sep 2012 11:12:07 EST Blogging for Points http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4922480 So my title says it all. Actually, it's more like blogging to fulfill the Day 1 Challenge.

There's not much to say. I did Paleo for several days, June 4-8th, and lost about 4lbs. This past weekend, I went off Paleo--hate some rice and ice cream. The monthly miracle hit HARD and my body craved carbs, to the exclusion of everything else. I dislike the monthly miracle; it's 6-7 days of cramps, bleeding, fatigue, and general malaise. Paleo actually hasn't helped in the past with it :-(... Mon, 11 Jun 2012 22:55:31 EST First Blog in Forever...going back on Paleo http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4910798 It's been about three months since I last wrote in a blog. In the interim, I went an entire month (April) without exercise, which hasn't happened in the last 4-5 years! I also ate up a storm, especially since I've discovered Oreo Sonic Blasts, which lead to an 8lb weight gain, tight pants, and a bloated stomach.

I now weigh 168.5. That's not the most I've ever weighed, but it's darn close.

I'm now consecutively exercising, thanks to a exercise program called
gs... Mon, 4 Jun 2012 00:00:03 EST I love the scale...NOT! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4774093 Short blog post.

In previous blog post, I noted that I had lost 3lbs of water in 3 days since starting back on Paleo. I've also started exercising again, doing some intense interval training DVDs as well as CrossFit-type workouts (I don't call it CrossFit because I'm doing them in my spare room instead of going to a CrossFit gym).

So today, 6 days in back on track, I decide to weigh myself again.

New number? 161.5 WTH?!! How the heck have I gained weight afte... Tue, 6 Mar 2012 16:18:53 EST You wanna talk about TOM water weight gain? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4768758 Thursday, March 1st, was the last day of my TOM (time of the month). It was also my first day back on the Paleo Diet after about two weeks off the reservation. I know I bloat up a storm when I'm eating gluten and dairy and the TOM comes. I just didn't know how much.

Weight on 3/1, 6am: 163.4
Weight on 3/3, 9:30a: 160.4

Three pound weight loss in less than 3 days? Are you kidding me? That was some serious bloat! Sat, 3 Mar 2012 15:15:43 EST 2012 Blog #7: Restaurant Tests to Pass http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4704431 For the past two days, I've been in a work conference, complete with team dinner, group lunch, and even an outing to an NBA game. I made a commitment going into the conference that, no matter what, I would not go off the Paleo eating plan: I'm come to far, I've seen excellent results, I feel great (if a little hungry at times), and the eating challenge supports a charity I love so much (see here for more info: http://atthecrossroads.org/campaign/lynnch
arles).

I'm happy to say t... Thu, 26 Jan 2012 00:24:40 EST 2012 Blog #6: I've Finally Exercised http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4696937 It has been two weeks since I could find any energy or motivation to exercise in any capacity. I've been in denial re: how much strength, endurance, and flexibility I've lost in the past 6+ months of off-and-on (mostly off) exercising. Doing (or should I say attempting to do) Crunch Cardio Sculpt DVD this morning just confirmed it. NO WAY should that workout have made me sweat like it did. NO WAY should my glutes be on fire like they currently are. Alas, this just confirmed I need to get off ... Sun, 22 Jan 2012 13:36:17 EST 2012 Blog #5: Drive-by Weigh-In (20 days of Paleo) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4695114 With the exception of one cheat meal on the 14th, I have successfully eaten the Paleo way since January 1st. I know I was very bloated after the holidays, but had NO CLUE how much: I am down 10lbs from New Years Day.
244

I'm also as regular as I've ever been, but that's a whole other post...

Sat, 21 Jan 2012 12:18:33 EST 2012 Blog #4: Getting back on the exercise bandwagon is difficult http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4687979 This is a very quick blog post--a "drive-by" if you will.

I'm still on the Paleo bandwagon. It's tough, though. Having that "free-for-all" day on Saturday has wrecked havoc on my brain. I'm craving sweets like you wouldn't believe and I feel rather lethargic. I'm sure that I'll be okay once the refined sugar, gluten, and dairy is out of my system.

Now the major difficulty I'm facing is lethargy. I find myself exhausted much of the time and lack any motivation to exercise... Tue, 17 Jan 2012 22:31:22 EST 2012 Blog #3: Eating the Paleo way to save money for charity http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4682898 Halfway through January 2012. I’m very proud to say that I successfully completed two weeks of Paleo eating. I planned a cheat day yesterday (Sat., the 14th): old-fashioned maple donut, enchiladas, rice and tortilla chips. Oh, it was yummy, but not "OMG, I couldn't imagine life without these things in my life" yummy. I am jonesing for sugar today, but I could care less for gluten, dairy, or starch.

But now I’m back on the Paleo bandwagon from today (Jan. 15th) to . It’s for a good ... Sun, 15 Jan 2012 20:30:51 EST 2012 Blog #2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4666301 I had grandiose plans to blog every day of 2012. Then I went back to work on the 2nd and fell into H-E-double-hockey-sticks at work. I had several nights of working until 11p or midnight to meet deadlines. I know I was an irritated, ugly wreck by the end of the week; I'm pretty sure even my manager (who think I'm awesome) was a bit short with me a few times. Next week will be only slightly less craziness.

I am, though, very proud to say that I kept on the Paleo bandwagon the ENTIRE... Sun, 8 Jan 2012 14:15:42 EST Happpy New Year: 2012 Blog #1 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4648454 This is my first blog of the year, as I've made the commitment to blog each and every day in 2012.

Ostensibly, today's blog was to discuss how I've let myself go this past year (I weigh 12lbs more on 1/1/12 than 1/1/11) and what I intend to do about it (e.g. weight loss goals). But that's changed since my 2+ hour debacle this morning.

Let me just say this: don't lock your house and car keys in your car WITH IT RUNNING on a national holiday. Especially one that falls on ... Sun, 1 Jan 2012 13:17:14 EST Vacation Plans in Upheaval http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3809009 I've had plans for the past several months to FINALLY take vacation from the stressor that is my job. I planned to be in London from Dec. 10-21st. Two days ago, it was brought to my attention that my current hotel choice (which would be paid for with almost 3 years of points accumulated on my credit card--I use that sucker for everything--if I could figure out how to pay my rent via credit card, I'd do it) rates about 2 stars and has been rated extremely poorly on Yelp.com and Tripadvisor.com... Sat, 27 Nov 2010 21:22:36 EST Short Black Friday Post http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3807367 I do not like Black Friday, partially because large crowds leave me claustrophobic. I did have some shopping to do as I prepare for my overseas trip in exactly two weeks. So I decided to hit local shopping in my suburb versus a) going to the mall or b) the main shopping area downtown.

I left home at 8a and returned a mere two hours later. In that time, I hit seven different stores, got my Christmas cards (and a birthday card for my Mom), bought Christmas gift for aunt and birthday ... Fri, 26 Nov 2010 19:40:01 EST Short random blog http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3762514 I wasn't tempted by Halloween candy before Halloween. I wasn't tempted by the candy ON Halloween. I wasn't tempted early this week when everyone and their friend brought in from their children. So why, four days after the fact, do I finally break down and eat 4 fun size pieces of Snickers? WTH?!!! Thu, 4 Nov 2010 18:43:27 EST DVD Review: Paul Katami A.S.A.P. Fitness Hollywood Bootcamp 4x4 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3751874 I really enjoyed Hollywood Bootcamp, specifically because I enjoy Paul Katami as an instructor. Indeed, one of my first thoughts after finishing was ‘need to get other of his DVDs.’ He doesn’t do the entirety of the workout with the exercises, but he did the majority of them, only stopping to talk about correct form. He’s not excessively chatty or saying inane things (‘are we working hard? I know I am?’) and his voice isn’t annoying (he never raises his voice or scream). Some of the backgrou... Sun, 31 Oct 2010 13:41:21 EST Trying out one of the new Bob Harper DVD http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3750844 I did Bob Harper’s Inside Out Method Pure Burn Super Strength DVD (whew, that’s a mouthful) this morning, all 66 minutes of it. I used light weights, 5lbs, for most of it, even the shoulder work (I really do need to get some 3lb dumbbells), 8lbs for the lunges. There were some exercises I modified (planks, pushups, etc.) and a few that I didn’t attempt (e.g. squat thrusts & burpees became down, one leg back at a time, and up). I didn’t sweat up a storm, but I did sweat, and my heart rate did... Sat, 30 Oct 2010 21:29:11 EST So sore... (10/27) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3744001 I didn't even like the Women's Health Train for Your Body Type DVD yesterday, but it doesn't even matter because I was SORE as all hell today in my glutes and shoulders. I could barely get out of bed to exercise this morning...and I went to sleep before 10p! Wed, 27 Oct 2010 12:50:00 EST Random Observation re: DVD Background Exercisers http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3742077 When I do an exercise DVD, I not only pay attention to the instructor for form, tempo, etc., but the background exercisers as well. I've noticed that several instructors, including Cathe, Kelly Coffee-Meyer, Ilaria Montagnani, and Paul Katami use the same background folks in multiple DVDs.

Well today I exercised to another DVD borrowed from the library (Women's Health Train for your Body Type with Jessica Smith, and no, it's not a winner for me at all). I kept looking at the backg... Tue, 26 Oct 2010 16:41:40 EST Went off the eating plan...and it was AWESOME! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3739738 I live in a state with no In-N-Out Burger resturatants. I grew up in an area that did (although I didn't even really know about the awesomeness of In-N-Out until years after I left the area). Anyway, I went back to the area for the weekend and met up with one of my oldest friends. And we went to In-N-Out.
I had a cheeseburger, fries, and a strawberry shake. Oh, it was SOOO good.

Now, if I'm going to cheat, THAT'S what I'm going to cheat with. Now back to the regular eating pla... Mon, 25 Oct 2010 17:38:16 EST Very short DVD Review: Kathy Smith's Build Muscle, Shrink Fat http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3726718 Wow, I think I might have found a Kathy Smith DVD where her voice and whopping doesn't turn me off! Last night, I did 43 minutes of her Build Muscle, Shrink Fat DVD. And I enjoyed it! It's definitely an intermediate workout and Kathy is quite chatty and doesn't actually do the entire workout herself (for some reason, that really bugs me). Also, there are alot of lunges, plus other lower body work with a balance component (e.g. one legged squats or lunges with back leg lifts). Upper body work,... Tue, 19 Oct 2010 19:19:00 EST Learning My Lesson (for the 8th time) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3721056 Last night, I broke down and went on a fast food run: McDonalds french fries, Oreo milkshake, and a Green Burrito green burrito. The only saving grace is that I didn't eat much earlier in the day (which is what sparked the fast food run in the first place) and had not only done 50 minutes of cardio, but 45 minutes of lower body strength work in the morning.

Anyway, my body is sensitive to dairy and legumes. I know this, have known it for almost a year. So of course, it pays me back... Sun, 17 Oct 2010 14:38:49 EST DVD Review: Ilaria Montagnani's BodyStrikes http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3719190 I woke up about 6:45a in order to get ready and complete the BodyStrikes DVD before heading to the gym for cardio when it opened at 8am.

BodyStrikes is yet another winner by Ms. Montagnani. Indeed, in the middle of the workout, I was already thinking that I need to just run the table on all of her DVDs, even the sword training one (I think you can use a dowel or broom instead of a sword). Anyway, this workout is considered Intermediate and uses no weights. Given that, it kind of s... Sat, 16 Oct 2010 13:52:55 EST Another DVD Review (sort of): The Wedding Workout http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3717759 I woke up in spite of myself and exercised this morning. In addition to another fifty minutes of StepMill, I set down to do about 37 minutes of the Wedding Workout (Warmup, Upper Body, Lower Body, Core). Either the DVD or my DVD player conked out three minutes into the 11 minute Lower Body section, so I only ended up doing 28 minutes.

This is another DVD that left me shaking my head in disgust. The warmup itself was three minutes long and did not get me all that warm. Then we get ... Fri, 15 Oct 2010 17:13:22 EST DVD Review: Women's Health Total Workout in Ten http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3713436 I tried a new DVD this morning: Women's Health Total Workout in Ten. This DVD consists of four separate workouts, each about 10 minutes, that you can mix and match depending on how much time you have: Cardio, Upper Body, Lower Body, Balance/Flexibility. There might be a cooldown, but I did this on my own after doing three segments: Cardio, Lower Body, Upper Body.

This DVD is just so-so for me. I don't dislike Amy Dixon (the instructor), but she's a bit too chatty for my taste. I kn... Wed, 13 Oct 2010 17:34:10 EST Follow-up on Crunch Resculpt http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3711700 Very short blog today:

I may not have liked Crunch Resculpt DVD and thought the exercises were pedestrian, but evidently my hamstrings thought otherwise about the stiff-legged deadlifts. I only used 8lb dumbbells, but it evidently didn’t matter: the hammies are sore and tight today. I was supposed to do another DVD this morning, but I didn’t get up before work (going to bed at 11p last night didn’t help) and then the hamstrings hurt, so I decided to exercise over lunch. With work b... Tue, 12 Oct 2010 23:19:01 EST DVD Review: Crunch Resculpt http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3708398 So, I didn't do Crunch Resculpt DVD yesterday. I did Ilaria's Abs & Pushups DVD instead, which I didn't love because I have NO upper body strength.

That DVD is definitely in the return pile. There wasn’t much I like about it: the instructor used the phrase “carve your body” (or something to that effect) several times and that annoyed me. The background exercisers, all skinny with flat stomachs and no hips, also bothered me. Also, this is supposed to be a strength training DVD, but... Sun, 10 Oct 2010 14:17:40 EST Still sore, but got to the gym anyway http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3703877 This weekend is a system implementation (which is part of my job), so I'm working some weird hours supporting it. However, I got up this morning and exercised. I did another DVD, Jennifer Kries Intermediate Pilates Mat Workout II, which is pretty good (boy am I inflexible!!) and then 50 minutes on the elliptical.

I continue to be VERY sore in the glutes and thighs, worse than yesterday. I'm just stiff as all heck. Sat, 9 Oct 2010 15:38:37 EST Yeah, so I'm sore.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3702562 Yesterday, I tried not to go very hard on the Atletica DVD yesterday because a) it is considered an advanced workout, b) it was my first time doing it, and c) how many squats can one do and NOT feel the pain the next day. Turns out it didn't matter how light I went because I am SORE. Not quite waddling because I can't talk straight sore, but pretty close. Thighs, glutes, traps, and deltoids are NOT happy.

I'm proud that I got to the gym for some cardio, though, even it was over lun... Fri, 8 Oct 2010 21:11:13 EST I ate sugar...plus DVD Review: Ilaria's Atletica Workout http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3699509 So after a good week of no added sugar (I've had fruit, so I've had naturally occuring sugar), I had a bit of butter toffee popcorn last night. Boy did I pay for it this morning! I had this weird headache when I first woke up to exercise and no matter how much I talked to myself, I could not get out of bed to exercise when I needed to in order to make a 7am work meeting. The best way to describe how I felt was "foggy" and "sluggish." Needless to say, given how I felt (and still feel, even aft... Thu, 7 Oct 2010 14:12:07 EST Exercise http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3695413 Given the time I went to bed and the stress I'm under, I'm impressed that I got up this morning at 5am. Now only that, I went to the gym and did 50 minutes on the StepMill. I came home and did the Crunch Bootcamp exercise DVD (eh, not doing it again). Total workout time: ~85 minutes. Not too shabby!! Tue, 5 Oct 2010 22:43:13 EST Dragging... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3692390 I have a lot of sore muscles. Jumping rope for 35-40 minutes (my estimate of how much of the Aero Jump/Sculpt workout was devoted to seven different ways to jump rope) evidently does a number on your abs and calves. Combine that with the sculpting work on shoulders and back and I am not a happy camper.

I fell into bed 9:30p last night and I could barely get up this morning to get to the gym. I had intentions of doing another exercise DVD and then 45 minutes of cardio, but that DVD ... Mon, 4 Oct 2010 19:59:26 EST DVD Review: Aero Jump/Sculpt http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3689220 Do you like to jump rope? Do you like to sweat like there's no tomorrow? Do you like straight forward, no B.S. workouts? Then do I have a workout for you!

I didn't want to do this workout this morning. I was exhausted from yesterday's workout, plus going to bowling last night (used too heavy of a ball and my shoulders are sore). But put the DVD in, put on my sports bra and got to it. And I'm so glad I did.

First thing, this is considered an Advanced workout. If you haven... Sun, 3 Oct 2010 15:37:58 EST DVD Review: Paul Katami A.S.A.P. Fitness Ab Lab http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3687118 I’ve found my first “love” DVD for the month: Paul Katami’s Ab Lab. Twenty something minutes of serious ab work (it earned its “Advanced” designation and then some), both standing and lying exercises: plank, rocking plank, windmills, side crunches, etc. You do each exercise for sixty seconds, which is great, because I can at least mentally psych myself up; it’s only sixty seconds right? Also, the sixty seconds count down on the screen, so you can always check how much time you have to put up... Sat, 2 Oct 2010 14:52:34 EST October Goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3685305 I have several exercise and nutrition goals for October, which is the last month this year I'll spend the majority of the month in my home (Nov. has 2 weeks of biz travel: one international; Dec has international vacation plus holidays with the relatives).

Exercise Goals:

As I blogged about before, I plan to complete 21 exercise DVDs during the month. This is in addition to my regular cardio. This morning I did the Exhale Core Fusion Pilates Plus DVD. It was okay, but I... Thu, 30 Sep 2010 14:30:37 EST Pilates Workout #2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3679887 So I tried Pilates again this morning. It didn't get any easier when I had to support my body with my arms and then do legwork. Also, bridge work? Not fun. But the abs work wasn't bad at all...well, as long as they're not planks. Even then, as long as I stayed on my forearms, I had no problems.

I also a weigh-in for the BLC-14 Challenge this morning. I've pretty much regained all of the weight I lost in the first week. I'm not surprised, for several reasons: a) the atrocious eating... Wed, 29 Sep 2010 14:49:50 EST
