Hopefully I will miss most of the nasty weather.

Tommy got be a spin bike for the house after a particularly stressful week. Sometimes he is at the school from 8am-9pm every day during the week and I can't really go anywhere or do anything (he has the car). Thu, 4 Feb 2016 13:24:25 EST Plans for the New Year http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6060976 2015 was an exciting year for me, but a very exhausting one. We welcomed a new baby girl in August, Lilja Berlin. My pregnancy was really tough and the birth didn't go very well. I am happy to be back and feeling much better though!
For all the trouble, Lilja is the perfect baby :) She smiles, sleeps and eats without much (any) fuss. After the colic, sleep deprivation, breastfeeding hell that was Burke's infancy this baby has been a shock. Haha I finally understand why people would have ... Thu, 3 Jul 2014 11:19:34 EST Marathon Training http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5613997 Well, I am going to take the plunge. I am doing another half marathon with my brother and dad in May, and I am going to begin training for the Full today. I am going to be using the Galloway run/walk method, which should get me through. I am really excited!

Not entirely sure if this training session will take, but I will stick to it until at least my half and take an inventory there. The race I have targeted is the Run Crazy Horse in South Dakota in October. Tommy found it ac... Mon, 3 Feb 2014 12:25:12 EST Arctic Weather & Dogsledding http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5602231 I brought my running stuff to Churchill. I kind of want to go for a run just to say I did it :) (yesterday it was -63C here). Of course I do have cold weather running stuff but not extreme cold running stuff. Maybe I will just go out for a fast mile haha.

I've been up here working this week (I collect traditional knowledge from northern elders about the land/water) and one of the elders offered to take me on his dogsled. Wed, 22 Jan 2014 11:04:03 EST Northern Winter Hike Logistics http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5586730 So far, my goals for 2014 are going well! Not perfect obviously, but this year I'm not going for perfect anyway.

I've run 4 miles so far, mostly just 1 mile at a time. I know when I start building next week they will begin to add up much faster. Haven't wanted to push it too much considering the work trip I have tomorrow and Friday.

I am headed up north (fingers crossed it is warmer than -50!!) to check out some environmentally sensitive sites and record them before a ... I did go and see Jillian Michaels. It was the most inspiring thing ever. A lot of the information was not new to me, but still having her deliver it in such a cool way, it hit home. Loved the experience!

2. I did my half marathon!! I finished in 2:41:54. A little slower than my goal of 2:30, but I was just happy to finish! I hadn't run all weekend and decided to try and get out for a quick run, 3 miles, at about 7:30pm after 8 hours of driving. Before I got to the end of the street I decided to try to do the 8 miles I had planned for the weekend.
Once I got out of town and on a gravel road I'd never seen before, something odd happened. I thought why not try another 2 and go for an even 10 miles? Very strange for me. I usually strug... Tue, 2 Apr 2013 15:53:49 EST Finally a Few Warm Days http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5247662 The past couple of days it has been -5 and it has been such a nice break. It was ridiculously cold for the past month and it's so nice to run outside again! I am still doing my short runs twice a week on the treadmill at lunch because it is just a lot easier to fit it in that way, but it is really nice to be able to take the pup out for the long runs. I am up to 4 mile long runs, and about 10 miles a week. Definitely getting there!
366

My dad and I signed up for... I was seriously impressed with myself!I had never run faster than 13:30 pace before. Not even for a mile. So this is a huge deal for me :)
Today I ran 2 miles at a 10:33 pace! Yay! Mon, 28 Jan 2013 15:08:02 EST The dreaded cold http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5218477 So this weekend I came down with a pretty bad cold. Super congested and a sore throat. I feel fine, but am not wondering if I should run today or not. I don't want to drag this out any longer but colds can also last forever and I don't want to miss a week of training or anything. lammme.
Meanwhile lots of vitamin C for me! Fri, 18 Jan 2013 16:19:28 EST Half Marathon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5208061 I have been training for my half since October. I am pretty slow, but am happy to get in at least 3 runs a week. I am increasing my mileage and adding crosstraining this month, so hopefully that will help. I would like to have a respectable time, but it seems like I will have trouble speeding up. I tend to do slower runs at 16 min/mile (pretty slow) and my fastest was 13:00 min/mile (for 2 miles only). Usually I hit 14 min/mile. I am really hoping with the disappearance of the snow and the... My Dr. wrote me a prescription for one so that I could get it for free under Tommy's health plan and I bought a hospital grade one. I LOVE it. Most people I talked to said they hated pumping but I think its invaluable. Today I pumped before my workout, so Tommy took Burke and if he g... Sat, 7 Jul 2012 11:42:58 EST Small Setback http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4953628 So I haven't started working out yet really because i haven't been cleared by my Dr. I have just been walking, which has been good. But today I found out I have mastitis from breastfeeding. I have hated every second of breastfeeding up until this point and now it sucks even more. Add to that that I can't really do much because of the pain and I can't find a single store with a nursing bra in my size (which is probably how this happened in the first place). So for now I am hanging out at ho... Tue, 3 Jul 2012 13:43:46 EST July Challenge and measurements... sigh http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4952767 So I decided to join the Mommy to Wowwy Bootcamp group's July Challenge to force myself to get back into things. I took measurements to see where I start out and here they are:

Weight = 155lbs
Waist = 33"
Hips = 38"
Abdomen = 39.5"
Thigh = 21.5"
Arm = 11.5"

So while I am only 7lbs from pre-pregnancy weight, the measurements in ... I am not limiting my calories or anything because I am breastfeeding and I am not able to really exercise at the moment (I am only 2 weeks postpartum) but I am starting to get back into things. I have the couch to 5k plan and I think that that is gentle enough to start off with. Not sure when I will start it, maybe this week or next but it seems doable. They offer a monthly payment plan so I went to set it up. I learned it consists of 2 payments of 50% each. Haha what a plan. It only requires $900 in 3 weeks haha jeez.

Plus the joke of book costs. I only need 2 books this semester which amounts to $300.
