It was driving me nuts! I couldn't even post the entry because of the ads!

Today I logged in just to update some measurements and be able to compare them to a year ago. I'm glad to see that some of those ads have been reigned in.
Today I weighed in at 167.8 which is the lowest number I've seen since getting preggo with my now 3 year old. I lost some inches all around as well.
... Wed, 4 Apr 2012 10:14:41 EST A quick look back and clean eating update http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4596893 One year ago today I was 200 pounds. Today I weighed in at 170.3! 30 pounds in one year! I can break out jeans I wore in college! Still a bit to go before my goal, but I'm sooo much closer!

Quick update on the clean eating:
I'm still in the process of weeding out the processed foods and replacing with clean food. I've made my own bread for 2 weeks now. Its more dense and doesn't get as fluffy as store bought sandwich bread, but I've found a book of clean eating breads ... Wed, 23 Nov 2011 13:45:35 EST Clean Eating Challenge http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4583503 Not too long ago I stumbled upon a site all about clean eating. It has a ton of recipes with simple ingredients and lightens up pretty much anything you could want. The whole premise is to get back to basics with food. So many products in the grocery store have so many preservatives and things in them and this site is all about making your own food so you know exactly whats in them. Most recipes cut out white flour and sugar and focus more on whole grains and whole wheat. Over the weeken... Mon, 14 Nov 2011 10:16:15 EST November is here already? crap. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4564803 I've been very bad the past 2 weeks. Between Halloween candy, lack of working out, and eating out I've been at the max or over my ranges. Needless to say, my October goals were not met..

Here's my latest measurements

weight: 174 (up a pound)
arm: 12 (no change)
thigh: 24.2 (up .2)
calf: 16 (up .2)
hips: 44 (up 1)
waist: 38.8 (up .2)
natural waist: 33.5 (up 1)

Not so good. I get drained from cooking all day long and we ended up only really liking 4 of the recipes and struggled through eating the rest. Nothing was kiddo friendly (would have been for kids that eat more than mac & cheese and chicken nuggets, just not my extreme picky eater) and we were all sick of eating the same choices everyday for a month+. I walked away from doing this since April and always said one day I'd go back and ma... Mon, 10 Oct 2011 10:09:25 EST Special K Fail. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4518755 Week one of the challenge went great, lost 1.5 pounds and found awesome recipes on the special k website. Week 2 however, sucked. I ended up being super busy running around and getting a million things done and ate out entirely too much and gained by this week's weigh in. Mostly bad planning done on my part, as well as last minute schedule changes leaving me out past dinner with nothing healthy in sight.

This week looks like a bunch of running around as well with horse shows, ... Fri, 23 Sep 2011 09:30:25 EST Special K round 2: Day 1 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4496897 Today I'm starting the Special K challenge (again). I completed this back in January, and since my weight loss has slowed to almost nothing I decided I needed to kick things back in gear.

For those of you not familiar with how the challenge works, here's a quick summary:
Replace 2 meals with Special K meals (cereal, meal bar, or protein shake)
Snack on 2 Special K snacks a day
Eat a sensible 3rd meal (can be breakfast, lunch or dinner)
Eat as many freggies a... Wed, 21 Sep 2011 14:25:25 EST Hello September! You're here already? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4460870 This year is flying by!

The past 2 weeks have been insane! Between the earthquake (that NEVER happens here), Irene, the state fair, and moving exercise has been pushed down my list a bit. I've managed to keep eating fairly in check despite all the disruptions. At the fair I managed to avoid all the tempting fried foods but allowed myself to indulge in some fresh ice cream (they milk the cows in the morning and make ice cream for the afternoon. thats FRESH!).

Here... Thu, 1 Sep 2011 14:46:27 EST 25 Pounds GONE! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4436440 I weighed in yesterday at 175.6! 25.4 pounds down from my start weight of 201. Looking back, I have way more energy, I look for more active things to do, and I'm much happier.

I'm starting to fit into clothes I wore before kiddo which is fantastic!

I just got a new dress from mark. (
) in a large (11-13) and it fits perfect!

I opt to do more active things instead of just sitting around. Actually, I pretty muc... Fri, 19 Aug 2011 10:25:47 EST August Goals. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4401748 Weighed in the other day at 181, up a 3 pounds from my last weigh in. Its totally my fault, I've really slacked on tracking and what I eat. Now that its August, its time to get back in gear.

I think I did fairly well on my July goals. I have really gotten back on the ball with my water. Its the only thing I drink other than my morning coffee and the occasional soda or lemonade when we're out to eat. I've started workout out in the morning which has done wonders for my sleep.... Tue, 2 Aug 2011 08:44:19 EST Last week of July http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4386170 Its the start of the last week of July. I've started doing Lindsay Brin's 60 day slimdown again to throw variety back into my workout routine. Yesterday was the horse show at the farm. Its really just for fun and for the horses to gain experience more than anything. The paint threw her glue on shoe THE DAY it was glued on. Some people say its b/c my farrier must not be that good, but I know that's not it. He told me the heat wave could affect how the epoxy adhered to the shoe and her ho... Mon, 25 Jul 2011 22:18:58 EST Out of the 180s but progress is more than just the weight loss http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4372245 As of Saturday afternoon, I am 179 pounds! (weighed in AFTER eating at a surprise cookout that afternoon). This means I am 24 pounds lighter than when I started my spark journey. The weight loss is just the start of the success.

Since my start at Spark I have gone from wearing size 16 jeans to a 12/14, from size XXL(17) dresses and shirts to a Large sometimes XL depending on style/cut, from unwillingly scheduling workouts and struggling through them to making workouts so much a ... Tue, 19 Jul 2011 10:31:23 EST Sparking progress after almost 2 years. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4360008 My sparkaverisary is not until late August, but I'm needing a bit of extra motivation to get moving this morning so I decided to take a look back at where I started.

When I first started spark, I was over 200 pounds. I was miserable. Then I decided that I needed to start enjoying life instead of avoiding it.
My starting measurements were:
waist 42.5
hips 48
thigh 26
calf 17
arm 14.5

I just updated my measurements earlier in the week <... Wed, 13 Jul 2011 10:59:34 EST New month, New goals (plus results from last month) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4354734 So...I'm a week or so late on this one but better late then never.
Today's measurements are:

waist - 39.2
hip - 45.1
thigh - 22.5
arm - 12.2 left 12.5 right
calf - 16
natural waistline - 34

Since last month I'm down on every measurement except my calves. I can no longer get away with wearing size 16 jeans. They fall right off with no resistance. My size 14s are getting loose but I'm not totally in a 12 just yet. Some styles and brands ... Mon, 11 Jul 2011 08:44:28 EST Successful Shopping! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4323461 Old Navy has tank tops for $2 this weekend!!! I went and grabbed quite a few. I grabbed a few in XL but they're actually a bit big so I got a bunch more in Large. Running shorts and exercise clothing is on sale as well. I don't have any shorts that actually fit me so I decided to take a few pairs to the dressing room. The XL was a bit loose so I tried on a Large. I have not been a large since I had my kiddo (who is almost 3) so I was a bit sceptical. The Large fits perfect. I've also ... Sun, 26 Jun 2011 11:04:08 EST June Goals and May's results http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4270307 Today I weighed in at 184, up a pound or so from last week. I did just come back from vacation where nothing was necessarily healthy. I kept up with my workouts and when I skipped days, I did double duty the next day to keep my calorie burn up. I am craving more healthy foods than unhealthy foods at this point. With my Once a Month Mom cooking I can eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner with 300 calories to spare for sides and snacks. I still have a few weeks worth of meals from that so I kno... Wed, 1 Jun 2011 14:47:50 EST 5/31 - This weeks goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4268356 Over the weekend I had a much needed get away from life. Quiet camping in VA is what was needed to ease stress and get a nice change of scenery. The trip was packed with lots of downtime, trips to the water park and lake for swimming and tanning, cornhole tournaments, and lots of good food that was maybe not so good for me. I didn't bother to track anything, but did try to keep myself in check. I kept snacking between meals to a minimum and did my best to stick to the plate method (fill h... Tue, 31 May 2011 20:38:48 EST 20 Pounds Down! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4256605 I started my spark journey over 200 pounds. I've hit plateaus (loong ones too) and had struggles. I even quit sparking for a few months just to reset myself. I re-weighed in in January at 205. I re-vamped my eating habits and workout routine the instant we moved into the new rental house. 5 months later, I'm down just over 20 pounds! I just realized this today while playing around on the site (avoiding housework and the mound of laundry that needed folded and put away). I took a look a... Wed, 25 May 2011 22:17:34 EST This week a loss, and a vacation! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4253615 Weighed in today and down 3+ pounds. 244
Had a great ST and Cardio Interval workout last night.
Jazz wanted cake for dinner so we compromised and made a cake when we got back from the playground. I had her at least try what we were having for dinner before she had cake. She didn't like what we had but after 2 bites I let her have a small piece of cake. She's been pretty good about at least trying new foods lately. A treat of cake for dinner is a good treat after a ... Tue, 24 May 2011 15:49:53 EST This Week: starting off strong http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4236842 Yesterday I went down to both horses and rode both of my girls. My little paint is really too lame to do anything but walk since she lost both front shoes. After driving an hour and a half to go see her I tacked up anyway and got her to trot o so slowly just to see how sore she is. I took some of the barn girls with me and they all took a turn getting on and trying to trot or even canter, resulting in the most pathetic bucks I've ever seen. We all had a good time laughing at my silly pony... Mon, 16 May 2011 16:36:40 EST Plateau still going strong.. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4233605 After Monday's weigh in I'm still on that wonderful plateau. I honestly do not see that changing any time soon. Its not like I'm not trying to get off of it, but my current stress level is just through the roof. DH is still laid off for who knows how long, all the interviews he's gone to he's left feeling good about it but never gets a call back, and I have an interview for a job that will require me to pay out of pocket to get a license which is money I don't really want to spend right n... Sun, 15 May 2011 09:43:39 EST Beginning of the month measurements http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4214588 Time for measurements for progress check.
waist - 40.5 (no change)
hip - 45.3
thigh - 23
r arm - 13
l arm - 12.5
calf - 16.5
natural waistline - 36.5

I've never tracked the natural waistline before so no clue if there's been a change there. Fri, 6 May 2011 13:33:06 EST May Goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4209718 So its that wonderful part of weight loss where I have hit another plateau... Just wonderful. Last time I hit a plateau, I was stuck for nearly 6 months! I had gained a pound from Easter candy and being downright lazy about my workouts for a week or so. I've decided this time around I'm making some goals for myself to stay motivated for the short term.

This month I WILL:

1. Drink water. No more soda, and just one cup of coffee a day. (there are just too many days I... Wed, 4 May 2011 12:18:22 EST Weekend of entertainment http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4192890 So now that my jeans are all too big, but my old pants are still a hair too small, I need to shop. Problem is, hubby got laid off on Friday so spending is at a halt until the new contract gets picked up or he gets hired by someone else. (I didn't have time to shop this weekend anyway with all the easter festivities)

Friday was the 4H easter egg dying and hunt party. I took Jazz down and let her dye eggs. I'm not sure who made a bigger mess, the 2 year old or the 15 year old gi... Tue, 26 Apr 2011 22:01:21 EST Time to go shopping! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4182886 I've noticed this week all my size 14 jeans were really loose all the sudden. I started wearing belts once my last two pairs of 16s were too big. Now my favourite belt (from my western gaming days of riding) is too big. 6 months ago, a friend of mine gave me a pair of jeans she ordered from Gap that she felt ran big. They're size 12 and she was sure they just ran big in that style sine all her other gap jeans in the same size fit fine. I've looked at, and even squeezed into these jeans f... Thu, 21 Apr 2011 23:49:58 EST And the streak continues http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4165552 This week's weigh in was a pleasant surprise. I was sure I ate horribly most of the week, didn't track things well, really missed the mark on water and freggies all week, and only hit the gym once. I still lost! and lost 2 pounds! I got back on track this week (sort of). I'm back to using my notebook to track food and drinking water all day. I've only gotten 2 workouts in this week and zero gym time. The weather is thinking about warming up which is making my mood get better. Yesterda... Thu, 14 Apr 2011 12:56:31 EST Broken toe.. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4146296 A big thunderstorm was on its way the other night and I had to run out and put things back under the carport and bring things inside before the hail and torrential rain hit. In my running around (in flip flops) stubbed my littlest toe on the metal (and unforgiving) leg of the worktable. Didn't think it was really broken until late that night when it was swollen and red and blue and purple and sore to move. This would be the 2nd time I've broken the same toe. (the first time I was also wea... Wed, 6 Apr 2011 09:38:47 EST Success comes even when the blahs had taken over http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4140873 If you've read the past few posts, you know after 55 days of my slimdown challenge, I hit the blahs with only 5 days and 3 workouts left. I just felt sick of exercising so much. I really slacked off this past week. Struggled through those last workouts of my challenge and then took the rest of the time off. I didn't just sit on the couch, but just got sick of going the extra mile to workout. I continued to be fairly active. I've been spring cleaning around the house, playing with the do... Mon, 4 Apr 2011 10:10:24 EST New Shoes! Time to run http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4138697 My mother and I went to the Nike outlet yesterday. She was looking for some new walking shoes and my running shoes were pretty worn out. She lucked out and got her shoes for $30. I spent much more than that on the Zoom + 2010s. They're black and pink and soo comfy! I wore them around a bit last night to start breaking them in. On Tuesday I'll be able to hit the gym again with my bff gym buddy. I can't wait to really run in them. Its the first time I've used the roadrunnersports.com si... Sun, 3 Apr 2011 12:46:44 EST Springtime goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4136597 Though the weather doesn't seem to agree lately, spring is here! So far that has meant snow, rain and cold weather. The horses are all still in their mid-weight blankets, and only a few horhave started to shed. Not good for someone who has been counting down to warmth and sunshine all winter!
I've decided to make myself some goals for spring to keep me going through this oddly cold start to spring.

1. Get my mare back in shape. This is a priority for me. My show horse ... Sat, 2 Apr 2011 12:15:50 EST Today is better than yesterday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4126105 The sun is shining, I made myself to yesterday's kickboxing routine, and the exhaustion and blahs have left the building for the day. I have a core routine and cardio scheduled for the day that I WILL DO before the day is out.

On another note....my mother has started her weight loss journey, but I think she's going about it in the wrong way...

She's decided to do the South Beach Diet because my sister's MIL did it and lost 30 pounds. She looks amazing! Good on her f... Tue, 29 Mar 2011 09:44:31 EST Last week of my 60 day slimdown challenge! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4123983 Its monday, and the blahs have not left. Its the start of the last week of the 60 day slimdown program. I just can't get myself motivated today! I missed a cardio session Saturday, meant to make it up yesterday, but didn't. Today I have more cardio and kickboxing scheduled but can't get out of the funk enough to start! I should be excited! I've come so far and achieved so much, so why can't I just FINISH! Kiddo is watching Beauty and the Beast. She's about halfway through so I'm going ... Mon, 28 Mar 2011 12:46:21 EST A Case of the Blahs http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4117448 I don't know if its the blah weather returning after a few weeks that felt like Spring really had arrived, or exhaustion from running around and working out like crazy. The blahs have arrived. Yesterday they zapped all the energy away so I only did half of my scheduled workout. I also slept until almost 10! My motivation has definitely slowed...
This morning the sun is shining, but rain is on its way for tomorrow. The temperature has dropped a bit so back to long sleeves. I'm hopin... Fri, 25 Mar 2011 11:25:30 EST Crazy afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4110880 Today was a rest day on my workout schedule (that is conveniently written in on my calendar in the kitchen so I can't forget it). That means I was BORED all afternoon with nothing to look forward to. After DH got home, we went outside and I played ball with kiddo while DH cleaned the carport up. While we were playing, our neighbour came home and we sat out in the nice weather and talked.

While we were chatting, a 3 car collision happened right outside the house! The sound alo... Tue, 22 Mar 2011 19:29:20 EST Progress! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4107355 So for the last 2 months I've been following the Lindsay Brin 60 day Slimdown program. She gives you realistic nutrition guidelines (very similar to spark) and an exercise program following her DVDs. I started at 200 pounds and the following measurements:
waist - 41.5
calf - 17
thigh - 25.5
Hip - 48

Now almost 2 months later and just a week or so from the end, I'm down to 194.6 and down a few inches as well
Current measurements (as of 2 mins ago)
wai... Mon, 21 Mar 2011 12:43:40 EST Bailed on again! (this is getting old quick!) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4081742 So my bff and I are just not getting along great these days. First there was an issue with me riding her horse (tho she begged me to go ride her) and i was given a list of crap i'm not allowed to do with the horse. Whatever, i have my own horse and by the end of the month I'll be back to riding her again. Then we both got gym memberships to the same gym to make each other stay on track. First week was great, then this week, after I said i'd be home in 5 mins to go with her, she ditched me... Thu, 10 Mar 2011 13:34:36 EST blah weekend is over, start of a new week http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4053939 This weekend was crap for eating and exercise. Saturday I took one of my riding friends to a tack store that repairs saddles and bridles. I have a saddle in desperate need of repair and she had never been. Its a bit of a drive so we treated it like a road trip, laughing at silly signs and things we passed, talked about random things, and stopped at chick fila for lunch. I did ok eating there. Since I was driving I opted for a grilled chicken sandwich instead of a salad but ordered a club... Mon, 28 Feb 2011 10:50:39 EST first goal reached! time for a reward. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4035111 I've officially lost 10 pounds since I first joined spark. I've been here before, lost my way and gone back up to 205 (and more at times). This time feels different. I have a new workout routine that I can actually follow, rain or shine, home or away. I've found nutritious foods my whole family (ok well not always the toddler but such is life with 2 yr olds) enjoys. I have a gym membership that I can actually use. Now I know the last gym I used was "free" and had a child room. that jus... Mon, 21 Feb 2011 11:49:39 EST Back in the groove!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3997409 In 2 weeks I have lost 6+ pounds! Major milestone for me after being stuck on a plateau for 6 months, then moving countries, road tripping across this country, and settling in a new apartment.

I immediately got a gym membership to the closest gym as soon as we moved in (tho i've yet to actually go..). My bff lives in the apartment upstairs and I've roped her into being my gym buddy. (unfortunately she's been having some major health issues and has been told to take it easy unt... Mon, 7 Feb 2011 10:06:24 EST I LOVE Lindsay Brin workouts! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3984404 I've said it before, but I'll say it again anyway: Lindsay Brin's Moms into Fitness workouts are totally awesome! Last summer when I was diligently working out with her dvds and walking 3 miles a week I had great results in my weight loss. Moving and winter time de-railed some of that loss for a bit, but now I'm back into the swing of things. I just got her 60 Day Slimdown system which consists of 4 dvds and a packet of info from workout schedules to nutrition info and suggested meal plans... Wed, 2 Feb 2011 15:10:09 EST Special K Challenge: Last days http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3976346 Yesterday was my last day on the 2 week Special K challenge. I wasn't as strict on myself over the weekend, but didn't eat horrible either. It was a very easy to follow plan, fully customizable for what foods you wanted to eat along with the bars and shakes. It even has an app for your phone so you can quick lookup what you have planned for the day on the go.
Did it work? I think so. I lost 4 pounds just from last week. I unfortunately didn't get to take my start weight (great day... Mon, 31 Jan 2011 08:38:19 EST Darn u Special K! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3969187 The past few days I've been feeling hungry after my Special K meals. (not immediately after but like an hour later my stomach is growing for something else) The plan says eat as many veggies as you want, just no dips. There is only a very small number of veggies I can eat totally plain. So Wednesday I snacked on a yoplait and downed a ton of water to make me feel fuller after dinner. Yesterday, I tracked everything on spark and found I was 330 calories UNDER my minimum of 1200 per day. ... Fri, 28 Jan 2011 13:22:31 EST craptacular day.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3959526 Today started about an hour earlier than I wanted it to with a call from my husband saying my truck (that was just "fixed") died on the bw parkway. I called my parents for advice on where to tow it and what to do about it and all I got was an attitude from my mom (who was already up to go to work). It took all that was left of our last paycheck to tow the stupid thing back to our house and of course we had to pay the guy up front and in cash. I waited for my dad to be up and all I got was ... Tue, 25 Jan 2011 12:42:18 EST Special K: one week down, one to go http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3956264 I've officially completed week 1 of the 2 week Special K challenge. I've followed the plan pretty closely. I've had a few days where I didn't follow as strictly as I should, but what can you do. No one is perfect and day to day life isn't always the best scenario for eating planned meals (like when the oven breaks, or you have to say goodbye to a dear friend as she moves across the country via awesome party). I've only done one workout since I started (about to make it 2 today). I'm hopi... I took it as an opportunity to stock up on healthy cereal (and snack bars). I went to their website and pledged to start my challenge on Monday. (start of the first full week in our new apartment). Lots of yummy meal ideas (other than cereal) on the site for anyone looking for a new dinner/lunch idea. This coming weeks dinners sound yummy. chicken tostada, pomegranate glazed pork, leek and potato soup, jerk chicken, a... Wed, 12 Jan 2011 11:01:09 EST
