PSYCHOTAZ's SparkPeople Blog PSYCHOTAZ's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Excuses So I fell behind on my daily blogging. Now I need to get back on track. I signed up for the Spark Coach trying to stay more consistant and quit making excuses.

I have been doing well with my workouts. I have made it to Boot Camp 3 days in a row now. I really do love how I feel after a class, so I need to keep this in mind when I am struggling to get out of bed in the morning.

Wed, 27 Sep 2017 15:25:10 EST Day 2 Day 2- 10 Minutes exercise
Day 2- Blogging

I did it this morning!! My hip was pretty sore after volleyball last night. But I told myself that I would go to Boot Camp no matter how I felt. So I drug myself out of bed and got my butt to Boot Camp this morning. And I did feel better afterwards!! After a little foam rolling, my hip felt a lot better.

Yesterday was a good day. Boot Camp in the morning, and Dance Fitness and volleyball in the evening!! ... Wed, 20 Sep 2017 10:30:30 EST Day 1 blogging Day 1- 10 mins exercise
Day 1- Blogging

So I want to try Blogging everyday. I am also going to try to get at least 10 minutes of exercise every day. I know most days that will be easy, but there will be some days that this will be tough, but it will help keep me on track. I think once a week I will then add another habit that I want to do everyday.

I made it to Boot Camp this morning. I just realized, that I am so much more productive at work the days I ge... Tue, 19 Sep 2017 10:37:32 EST END OF YEAR GOAL I have set my goal for the end of the year. I want to be in onederland by January 1st. It is possible, but will be challenging. I will need to consistantly lose 3 pounds a week in order to achieve my goal. So I am going to do my best and try to stay on track.

It has been a frustrating month for me. I am dealing with knee and IT band issues that have really limited my running. I even took about a week and a half off from any exercise, which to me was really rough. I don... Wed, 30 Aug 2017 10:45:32 EST 20 POUNDS LOST Hard to believe I have hit the 20 pound mark. After not losing for 2 years this feels great!!! I had hit a little bit of a plateau for a while. Had some health issues and an injury that slowed me down for about a month, but I am back at it.

I am eating much better again and adding more protein and the weight is falling off again. I also noticed I am starting to get sick if I eat foods I should not be eating. A couple weeks ago I went to the movies and got popcorn. I paid fo... Wed, 29 Jun 2016 09:10:54 EST Finally back at it So the shingles are finally gone, but then I got a sinus infection. I was supposed to do a 14 mile trail challenge last Sunday, but opted instead for the shorter 7 miles due to my sinus infection. I am so glad I did, because the weather was cold and windy with some sleet thrown in. I surprised myself and did the 7 miles in 2 hours and 40 minutes. I actually thought the clock had to be wrong when I crossed the finish line.

Still doing well on my Paleo diet. I am down 15 pounds ... Thu, 19 May 2016 09:57:41 EST Pittsburgh 1/2 Wow, I think I enjoy doing a 13 mile trail race more than a road race. On Sunday I finished the Pittsburgh 1/2 marathon, barely, after running a 5K the day before. It was really rough. I think mostly because I have not been able to do much the past 2 weeks due to having shingles.

I don't really think I would have completed it if not for another team RWB member walking with me for about a mile at mile 11. I was really hurting at that point and really slowing down. I was in dang... Tue, 3 May 2016 13:15:06 EST Hyner Despite having shingles, I started the Hyner Challenge. I had gone back and forth at least 20 times before the race deciding if I was even going to start. I knew there was no way I could do the whole 17 miles. But I towed the line like everyone else who had paid to take on this challenge.

Even over the first 4 miles I kept going back and forth. At some points I felt like I would quit at the 4 mile aid station, and other times I thought I don't really feel that bad. So I made ... Mon, 25 Apr 2016 13:17:35 EST Shingles Well looks like I am going to have to scale back my workouts this week. Its official, I have shingles :( I am hoping that the pain will go away a little so I can do my trail challenge this Saturday. I don't want to miss it, but I may not have an option.

I am worried also that they have me on steroids. I hope it does not cause me to gain weight. I have lost 15 pounds so far, and don't want to gain any back.

Worst time ever to get shingles with my trail race this w... Tue, 19 Apr 2016 10:52:17 EST Still going strong As of this morning I am not down 14 pounds. This program has really been working for me. I did a 12 mile trail race on Saturday and knocked 26 mins off my best time. Would have been more, but my knee really slowed me down the last 2 miles. I was able to run the course a lot instead of just hiking the whole course.

I met with my trainer last night to discuss more fine tuning of the program. he now wants me to eat only protein for breakfast and really limit carbs at suppertime... Wed, 6 Apr 2016 12:33:44 EST 3 weeks in I am so excited and sold on the Paleo diet. In 3 weeks I have lost 11 pounds which is more than what I ever expected. I was hoping for 10 pounds a month, so this is awesome.

I am feeling so much better on this diet and have no reason to go back to eating the way I used to. I no longer have the cravings I used to . Also when I do eat bread I feel very sluggish. So I will still continue to have my cheat meals once a week, and even enjoy an occasional blizzard, or shake, but for ... Mon, 21 Mar 2016 11:19:21 EST Week 1 results OK I may have to admit that the saying is true that you can not out run a bad diet. But it has only been one week, so I am anxious to see what happens this week.

I lost 5.3 pounds last week. The workouts were not bad, and I did not mind the diet as much as I thought I would. Having the cheat day helped. I realize there will be some cheats and modifications along the way. I am not one to follow a strict diet. Tell me I can't have something and it will make me crave it al... Mon, 7 Mar 2016 09:24:34 EST Gluten intolerance So now I am wondering if all along I had a slight gluten intolerance that has been stopping my weight loss. Since going on the Paleo diet on Monday, I have lost 8 pounds already and I have so much more energy. I have not felt the afternoon slump that I always got around 2 every day.

I am a little worried about the weekend though because historically I would gain the weight I lost throughout the week on weekends. I am going to allow myself to cheat a little on Saturday as I am ... Thu, 3 Mar 2016 09:32:38 EST Paleo Boot Camp day 2 Sticking to my diet yesterday was actually easy. I did not feel like snacking at all. I got up early this morning and did my first Boot Camp workout. It was only 30 minutes, but tough. I really hope this works. Not sure yet if I will be able to afford the workouts next month, but I did enjoy it.

Supper tonight will be tough. I am planning tomato soup. I really like toasted cheese sandwiches, but I am not allowed cheese on this diet. It is going to be tough tonight, but if I... Tue, 1 Mar 2016 10:43:23 EST Paleo Diet Today starts a real challenge for me. I am going to give the Paleo Diet a try. It is going to be rough as I love my bagels in the morning, but I am going to give it a go and see if that can push me over this 2 year weight loss plateau I have been on. I may not be able to stick to it 100% of the time, but I am going to try at least 6 out of 7 days a week.

I am also ramping up my workouts, so I really hope I start seeing results.

So far breakfast and lunch have been g... Mon, 29 Feb 2016 13:20:45 EST Day 2 Mental Bootcamp So I have started doing Grace Smith's 1 day mental bootcamp. I am really liking it so far. It is helping me to stop the negative thoughts and changing how I think. I figure I exercise my body every day, so why not exercise my brain as well.

I am also going to start writing 3 things I am grateful for each day. This is really helping me to change my attitude and have a brighter outlook on life.

I am also doing Deepak's 21 day meditation as well. My exercising lately h... Tue, 3 Nov 2015 13:54:41 EST 1/2 Marathon Well I signed up for my first road 1/2 marathon (Pittsburgh). Kinda strange because I did a full marathon in 1999 but never a 1/2. I have till May, so I am not to worried about the training. What I am most worried about is the fund raising. I am running the 1/2 as a member of Team RWB. We raise money to help veterans. I am not good about asking people for money, so that is the part I am most worried about. If anyone would like to contribute even if it is just $10 please private message... Fri, 18 Sep 2015 13:05:36 EST Week Off I decided to take this week off from Cardio to try to get my Planters Fasciitis under control. I still went to my House of Pain class on Tuesday though. The good news is that my heel is feeling much better. But now my neck is really bothering me. Not sure if I did something in House of Pain or I just slept on it wrong.

It is very frustrating because I can do anything now. But I guess at least it is forcing me to rest some more. I just hope it gets better before Saturday so ... Thu, 18 Jun 2015 09:03:45 EST 14 DAYS DONE My running streak is still intact. Yesteday was day 14. It is getting harder with my planters fascitis, but I am trying some new stretching techniques to try to get some relief. I am thinking of taking a few days off from running after today. I have an 8 mile trail hike coming up on Saturday and not sure I can do it if my heel is still so sore.

I only have to run a mile tonight to complete my two week marathon. After tonight I will reasses weither I want to continue my streak,... Mon, 8 Jun 2015 10:29:32 EST Softball part 2 Last night was awesome!!! I ran 1.5 miles before in order to loosen up my legs. Plus it was National Runners Day, and I was afraid that after the game might be a struggle to get a run in.

Putting on my cleats felt so strange, and so did picking up a bat for the first time in 2 years. But it was just like riding a bike and I never missed a beat. I went 2 for 3 hitting and made a great play at 1st base as well. I was on such a high all night. I only wish I could run the bases f... Thu, 4 Jun 2015 11:01:40 EST Softball!!! So excited, I got an unexpected text this morning. A friend of mine asked me if I wanted to play softball this year. I have not played in 2 years since I injured my hamstring. I was no expecting this, but was still very happy.

So despite my planters fasciitis, I of course said Yes!!! I am so excited and can not wait until tonight!!! Even if I only play a couple innings, it has made my day!! Wed, 3 Jun 2015 09:38:39 EST Day 9 Today will be day 9 on my Runners World streak. I may do the dreadmill tonight to give my heel a little break. My Planters Faciitis is really bothering me, but not enough to stop running. I want to at lease complete the streak until July 4th, and then decide if I want to keep going. It depends on how my heel is feeling.

I really want to start getting a workout in in the morning, but right now my heel is really sore in the mornings.

I had a great work out last night... Tue, 2 Jun 2015 09:54:05 EST Day 1 Finished day 1 of my new running streak. It was a hot run at 80 degrees, but that is how I like it. My planters fasciitis has decided to flare up on me again. But not enough to stop me from running. I just break out the KT tape and my brace that I wear for an hour in the evening.

Really tired tonight, since I also planted my flowers and garden today. Mon, 25 May 2015 20:58:48 EST New Streak starting soon I am getting excited thinking about my upcoming running streak. Officially the runners world streak starts on Monday, but I am starting mine on Saturday with the Black Moshannon 5K. I hope to make it past my last streak of 123 days.

I got really inspired by a story I saw on the CBS news last night. John Sutherland has run everyday since May 26th, 1969. Truly amazing expecially since he even ran through a broken hip. And to think my streak ended when I got a cold.

... Fri, 22 May 2015 11:11:04 EST Running streak day 12 Last night I completed my 12th day running in a row. It was a lot longer run than I had originally planned. Some days it is tough to get out the door to run, but I keep pushing through. I am afraid that if I take a day off, it will make it easier to make another excuse the next day not to run.

Tonight is going to be tough, my hips are already stiff and sore from House of Pain on Tuesday and last nights run was hard on them as well. I can feel the stiffness in them today and I... Thu, 2 Oct 2014 09:36:06 EST Fall 5% Challenge Exercise Commitment Walk/Run 10,000 steps per day

Run at least 3 times per week

Continue with my spinning and house of pain classes (OK this one will be pretty easy)

Start getting a workout done in the morning.
Fri, 29 Aug 2014 09:08:17 EST Scale is moving!!! I think I might have figured something out. The scale is starting to slowly move again. In fact I am now able to fit into size 18 jeans!!! I think the trick is that I have increased my protein and am trying to cut back on the carbs. Plus I am getting at least 30 mins of cardio 6 days a week. And it is so worth all the hard work and sore muscles to see the results finally showing on the scale. Tue, 24 Sep 2013 09:42:51 EST Fall into a new you Starting next Monday I am going to be competing in a weight loss challenge at my local YMCA I am doing it mainly to have my body composition and cardio level measured. Sometimes it gets frustrating that the scale never wants to move so I think this will be great motivation. To see the changes that are happening on the inside. Plus there is a cash prize for the person who loses the greatest percent of weight. Mon, 16 Sep 2013 21:32:52 EST Small speed bump I realized that taking Skinny Fiber was not a miricle majic weight loss pill, and I got my proof last week. I hardly exercised and ate crap and surprise, surprise, I gained back the 3 pounds I lost the previous week.

I always knew I had to put in the work to get results and last week proved it. The good news is after only one day of working out and really paying attention to what I eat, I have already lost 2 of those 3 pounds, which tells me it was only water weight.
<BR... Tue, 30 Jul 2013 11:25:56 EST 3 pounds lost!! Well my 90 day Skinny Fiber challenge is going well. I lost 3 pounds last week!! I also was able to run 3 days last week and do a 6 mile hike on another. I really did not change my eating habits much last week.

So this week my goal is to really watch my portions and food choices this week and see if I can lose some more weight.

Mon, 22 Jul 2013 09:37:59 EST 90 day challenge Today I am starting my 90 skinny fiber challenge. Join me or follow my journey at

Also did really well on my 5k. Actually passed 2 people in the last quarter mile. Had to sprint to hold the last one off.

Now my goal is to shave 3 minutes off my time by Labor Day to finish in under 40 minutes. Sun, 14 Jul 2013 11:39:31 EST Scale is moving in the right direction I am so excited that the scale has finally started moving in the right direction and I am losing about a pound a week now. It was kinda frustrating to not lose any weight for 3 months. But I knew it had to change soon.

I started doing Les Mills Combat DVDs this week. I love those. It gives me my martial arts fix and the moves are coming back to me. Hopefully this will get me one step closer to get back to taking martial arts again.

Looking forward to running a 5K ... Wed, 10 Jul 2013 12:52:28 EST New year I am so ready to recommit for 2013!!!! I really want to finally get rid of this weight for good and keep it off. My running goal for this year is 500 miles. Had a great start today as I ran 2.7 miles in today. Did not do all my planned workouts, but I ate pretty well and will keep pushing forward.

I also want to try to start getting up earlier in the mornings in order to get a workout in. It is so hard for me to get out of bed in the mornings, but I am really going to try! Tue, 1 Jan 2013 18:34:04 EST Restart I am going to start using Spark People more. At first I was going to wait until New Years to start, but I think I need to start this Saturday. That way I will have the weekend to get used to my new workout and eating routine.

I am tired of being overweight, and I would really like to be at 250 this year for the Hyner Trail Challenge. It will make climbing through the mountain much easier. I want a good time this year. I also would like to run another marathon sometime. I wa... Wed, 19 Dec 2012 10:49:06 EST Time to refocus! Ok not sure how the past month got away from me, but it did. I am up 10 pounds and not liking how I am feeling. I have been sick for the past 2 weeks and did not feel like working out. And of course I did not adjust my eating. Totally my fault and I know I screwed up, but today is a new day and a new week.

Time to get moving and get my energy back again!! I am going back to tracking the food I put in my mouth. I tend to eat less when I have to write it down and track it. I h... Mon, 14 May 2012 08:49:07 EST Scale starting to move again After about a month of the scale not moving or yo-yoing, it is finally moving downward. I have recommitted myself to P90X and I am back running consistantly. Now I need to also focus on my eating. I tend to think because I workout a lot, that I can eat anything I want. That could be why the scale did not move. This week I started tracking my points again and staying within my points range and I am really losing the weight!!!! Plus I dropped a pants size!!!! And the new jeans are actua... Fri, 9 Mar 2012 08:58:32 EST Nutrition is everything This is going to be the time I finally finish a whole 90 days of P90X. Yes it is only day 4, but I am super excited and motivated. Also this is the first time attempting P90X that I have started seeing results this quick. I have already lost 3 pounds, and I owe that all to Weight Watchers. Before I would just eat what I want using the excuse that I am burning tons of calories. And as you would guess I did not lose much weight, got frustrated and quit.

Not this time!!! Yes I a... Wed, 4 Jan 2012 08:38:33 EST Not a good week I am not looking forward to my weigh in tomorrow. I just know I am going to have a gain 39 It is my own fault. I did not track at all all weekend and basically ate what ever I want. Now I did not eat as much as previous years, but still ate more than I should. So I guess I have only myself to blame.

I am starting P90X on the 1st so hopefully the weight will not stay on for long.

Does not help that there are some problems at home. These are ongoing argum... Wed, 28 Dec 2011 09:38:39 EST 5% gone Finally had a really good week, after 3 weeks of no weight loss. I lost 5 pounds this week and reachmy 5% weight loss goal. I have lost 13 pounds in 8 weeks!!!!

I think the key is to eat all my points. I did not exercise as much this week and yet lost weight. I have also started drinkin 3 glasses of milk a day. Lets hope I can keep this momentum going!!!!! Thu, 17 Nov 2011 21:27:17 EST Confused!!!! I am really confused right now. I still am working out the kinks and trying to figure out the right combination of points and exercise.

I was pretty sure I was not going to lose any weight this week. I was actually worried I would have a gain. I have not exercised as much this week because I am nursing a sore back.

So this morning I step on my scale at home and I am down 2 more pounds. Which really baffles me, because last night I was really bad and had a wendys hamb... Wed, 2 Nov 2011 09:21:12 EST No loss/No gain Well I did not lose any this week, but I also did not gain. At first I was kinda bummed. Then I looked at the big picture and realized I lost 8 pounds in a month, which is huge for me!!!

Then I went to the Y and ran 2 miles on the tredmill. I had not run in a couple weeks. I could not believe how much easier it was to run. I can't wait to lose more so it gets even easier and I get faster.

My goal this week is to lose at least 2 pounds so that I can be at an even 10 ... Fri, 28 Oct 2011 08:12:40 EST Down a size So excited that I can fit into my size 18 jeans again!!!! I was able to button them last week, but they were still to tight to wear. Today I am wearing them!!!!

I have not exercised as much this week, but should still have a small loss. Next week Boot Camp starts back up, so that will help.

I am still loving weight watchers. Who would have though that in a month I could have a 10 pound loss. It has always been so hard for me to lose weight. Guess I never had th... Wed, 26 Oct 2011 08:20:09 EST Week 3 weigh in I am loving Weight Watchers!!!! Lost another 4.4 pounds this week. That gives me 8 pounds in 3 weeks. I have never lost weight this fast. I am just about in my size 18 jeans again as well. I can get them zipped, but they are a little tight.

I think one of the reasons I love WW is that I do not feel like I am on a diet. I can eat all my favorite foods (just smaller portions and in moderation) so I am not feeling deprived or starving.

I cut back on the carbs this w... Fri, 21 Oct 2011 09:05:20 EST Taste buds changing I have not posted in a while. Weight watchers is still going well. I should have a lose this week.

Funny thing happened to me last night. I was so hungry for a burger and fries from Wendys. I figured I still had points that I could use in my plan so I just got a small fry.

Well neither the fries or hamburger tasted good to me, and normally I love Wendys fries. Guess that cured me of those cravings. My husband loves Wendys so we eat there once a week. Next week it... Wed, 19 Oct 2011 08:53:58 EST Expected gain I gained .8 pounds this week. I don't think I was eating enough with all the workouts I have been doing. That and I am lifting pretty heavy weights at boot camp and building muscle.

I did lose inches though!!! I lost 1/2 inch on my chest and waist and an inch on my thighs. So I will take that as a victory.

Gonna keep pushing myself through my workouts and hope it shows on the scale next week. I just need to figure out how much I need to eat. Thu, 13 Oct 2011 21:29:44 EST Day 2 Boot Camp Did not want to get out of bed this morning. But I knew I had 2 friends waiting for me at the gym for Boot Camp. So out I crawled!

So glad I did. My arms may feel like jello, but it was such a great workout. And it feels good to have my workout done for the day.

Scary thing is that I am considering getting up early tomorrow morning as well. Scary to think I may be turning myself into a morning person. Tue, 11 Oct 2011 08:19:47 EST Still going strong I am still doing really well. I think this is the longest I have been able to stick with a plan. I am doing really well with my eating. I even chose an orange over chips and salsa last night for snack.

Being on weight watchers and having to log my food has really made me think before I eat something. I really want to eat something that is not good, but then I stop and think, how many points will that be? Then I realize it is not worth it.

I have even been able to tr... Mon, 10 Oct 2011 09:38:03 EST 1st weight watchers weigh in Did pretty well last week. I lost 4.4 pounds according to their scales. I was hoping for 5, but I will be happy with any loss.

My tricepts are really sore this morning from boot camp and I am tired this morning. Gonna try to get some type of workout in today, but not sure what.

Sat I am going to try to start running on a more consistant basis. I am aiming for at least 4 days a week.

Fri, 7 Oct 2011 08:21:02 EST Boot Camp Today was my first morning of Boot Camp. God was it hard to get out of bed, but I had told a friend I would be there. So that helped motivate me to get out of bed.

It was a good tough workout. My tricepts are really sore right now, so I know I got a good workout. It is nice knowing that my workout is out of the way already. Not sure if I can start getting up earlier every day. But for right now I will be doing it every Tuesday and Thrusday.

I am anxious to see w... Thu, 6 Oct 2011 08:27:44 EST Scale moving!!! Weight watchers is really helping me. The scale is finally moving in the right direction. I was at 268 this morning and I feel great!!!!

I ate real healthy yesterday. So I had enough points that I could have a small piece of left over dairy cream ice cream cake. I was proud of myself in that I cut a smaller than normal piece and really enjoyed it.

The biggest thing I have really changed this week has been my portion sizes. I am back to using my food scale and real... Tue, 4 Oct 2011 09:34:34 EST
