PSYCHOTAZ's SparkPeople Blog PSYCHOTAZ's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Day 2 Mental Bootcamp So I have started doing Grace Smith's 1 day mental bootcamp. I am really liking it so far. It is helping me to stop the negative thoughts and changing how I think. I figure I exercise my body every day, so why not exercise my brain as well.

I am also going to start writing 3 things I am grateful for each day. This is really helping me to change my attitude and have a brighter outlook on life.

I am also doing Deepak's 21 day meditation as well. My exercising lately h... Tue, 3 Nov 2015 13:54:41 EST 1/2 Marathon Well I signed up for my first road 1/2 marathon (Pittsburgh). Kinda strange because I did a full marathon in 1999 but never a 1/2. I have till May, so I am not to worried about the training. What I am most worried about is the fund raising. I am running the 1/2 as a member of Team RWB. We raise money to help veterans. I am not good about asking people for money, so that is the part I am most worried about. If anyone would like to contribute even if it is just $10 please private message... Fri, 18 Sep 2015 13:05:36 EST Week Off I decided to take this week off from Cardio to try to get my Planters Fasciitis under control. I still went to my House of Pain class on Tuesday though. The good news is that my heel is feeling much better. But now my neck is really bothering me. Not sure if I did something in House of Pain or I just slept on it wrong.

It is very frustrating because I can do anything now. But I guess at least it is forcing me to rest some more. I just hope it gets better before Saturday so ... Thu, 18 Jun 2015 09:03:45 EST 14 DAYS DONE My running streak is still intact. Yesteday was day 14. It is getting harder with my planters fascitis, but I am trying some new stretching techniques to try to get some relief. I am thinking of taking a few days off from running after today. I have an 8 mile trail hike coming up on Saturday and not sure I can do it if my heel is still so sore.

I only have to run a mile tonight to complete my two week marathon. After tonight I will reasses weither I want to continue my streak,... Mon, 8 Jun 2015 10:29:32 EST Softball part 2 Last night was awesome!!! I ran 1.5 miles before in order to loosen up my legs. Plus it was National Runners Day, and I was afraid that after the game might be a struggle to get a run in.

Putting on my cleats felt so strange, and so did picking up a bat for the first time in 2 years. But it was just like riding a bike and I never missed a beat. I went 2 for 3 hitting and made a great play at 1st base as well. I was on such a high all night. I only wish I could run the bases f... Thu, 4 Jun 2015 11:01:40 EST Softball!!! So excited, I got an unexpected text this morning. A friend of mine asked me if I wanted to play softball this year. I have not played in 2 years since I injured my hamstring. I was no expecting this, but was still very happy.

So despite my planters fasciitis, I of course said Yes!!! I am so excited and can not wait until tonight!!! Even if I only play a couple innings, it has made my day!! Wed, 3 Jun 2015 09:38:39 EST Day 9 Today will be day 9 on my Runners World streak. I may do the dreadmill tonight to give my heel a little break. My Planters Faciitis is really bothering me, but not enough to stop running. I want to at lease complete the streak until July 4th, and then decide if I want to keep going. It depends on how my heel is feeling.

I really want to start getting a workout in in the morning, but right now my heel is really sore in the mornings.

I had a great work out last night... Tue, 2 Jun 2015 09:54:05 EST Day 1 Finished day 1 of my new running streak. It was a hot run at 80 degrees, but that is how I like it. My planters fasciitis has decided to flare up on me again. But not enough to stop me from running. I just break out the KT tape and my brace that I wear for an hour in the evening.

Really tired tonight, since I also planted my flowers and garden today. Mon, 25 May 2015 20:58:48 EST New Streak starting soon I am getting excited thinking about my upcoming running streak. Officially the runners world streak starts on Monday, but I am starting mine on Saturday with the Black Moshannon 5K. I hope to make it past my last streak of 123 days.

I got really inspired by a story I saw on the CBS news last night. John Sutherland has run everyday since May 26th, 1969. Truly amazing expecially since he even ran through a broken hip. And to think my streak ended when I got a cold.

... Fri, 22 May 2015 11:11:04 EST Running streak day 12 Last night I completed my 12th day running in a row. It was a lot longer run than I had originally planned. Some days it is tough to get out the door to run, but I keep pushing through. I am afraid that if I take a day off, it will make it easier to make another excuse the next day not to run.

Tonight is going to be tough, my hips are already stiff and sore from House of Pain on Tuesday and last nights run was hard on them as well. I can feel the stiffness in them today and I... Thu, 2 Oct 2014 09:36:06 EST Fall 5% Challenge Exercise Commitment Walk/Run 10,000 steps per day

Run at least 3 times per week

Continue with my spinning and house of pain classes (OK this one will be pretty easy)

Start getting a workout done in the morning.
Fri, 29 Aug 2014 09:08:17 EST Scale is moving!!! I think I might have figured something out. The scale is starting to slowly move again. In fact I am now able to fit into size 18 jeans!!! I think the trick is that I have increased my protein and am trying to cut back on the carbs. Plus I am getting at least 30 mins of cardio 6 days a week. And it is so worth all the hard work and sore muscles to see the results finally showing on the scale. Tue, 24 Sep 2013 09:42:51 EST Fall into a new you Starting next Monday I am going to be competing in a weight loss challenge at my local YMCA I am doing it mainly to have my body composition and cardio level measured. Sometimes it gets frustrating that the scale never wants to move so I think this will be great motivation. To see the changes that are happening on the inside. Plus there is a cash prize for the person who loses the greatest percent of weight. Mon, 16 Sep 2013 21:32:52 EST Small speed bump I realized that taking Skinny Fiber was not a miricle majic weight loss pill, and I got my proof last week. I hardly exercised and ate crap and surprise, surprise, I gained back the 3 pounds I lost the previous week.

I always knew I had to put in the work to get results and last week proved it. The good news is after only one day of working out and really paying attention to what I eat, I have already lost 2 of those 3 pounds, which tells me it was only water weight.
<BR... Tue, 30 Jul 2013 11:25:56 EST 3 pounds lost!! Well my 90 day Skinny Fiber challenge is going well. I lost 3 pounds last week!! I also was able to run 3 days last week and do a 6 mile hike on another. I really did not change my eating habits much last week.

So this week my goal is to really watch my portions and food choices this week and see if I can lose some more weight.

Mon, 22 Jul 2013 09:37:59 EST 90 day challenge Today I am starting my 90 skinny fiber challenge. Join me or follow my journey at

Also did really well on my 5k. Actually passed 2 people in the last quarter mile. Had to sprint to hold the last one off.

Now my goal is to shave 3 minutes off my time by Labor Day to finish in under 40 minutes. Sun, 14 Jul 2013 11:39:31 EST Scale is moving in the right direction I am so excited that the scale has finally started moving in the right direction and I am losing about a pound a week now. It was kinda frustrating to not lose any weight for 3 months. But I knew it had to change soon.

I started doing Les Mills Combat DVDs this week. I love those. It gives me my martial arts fix and the moves are coming back to me. Hopefully this will get me one step closer to get back to taking martial arts again.

Looking forward to running a 5K ... Wed, 10 Jul 2013 12:52:28 EST New year I am so ready to recommit for 2013!!!! I really want to finally get rid of this weight for good and keep it off. My running goal for this year is 500 miles. Had a great start today as I ran 2.7 miles in today. Did not do all my planned workouts, but I ate pretty well and will keep pushing forward.

I also want to try to start getting up earlier in the mornings in order to get a workout in. It is so hard for me to get out of bed in the mornings, but I am really going to try! Tue, 1 Jan 2013 18:34:04 EST Restart I am going to start using Spark People more. At first I was going to wait until New Years to start, but I think I need to start this Saturday. That way I will have the weekend to get used to my new workout and eating routine.

I am tired of being overweight, and I would really like to be at 250 this year for the Hyner Trail Challenge. It will make climbing through the mountain much easier. I want a good time this year. I also would like to run another marathon sometime. I wa... Wed, 19 Dec 2012 10:49:06 EST Time to refocus! Ok not sure how the past month got away from me, but it did. I am up 10 pounds and not liking how I am feeling. I have been sick for the past 2 weeks and did not feel like working out. And of course I did not adjust my eating. Totally my fault and I know I screwed up, but today is a new day and a new week.

Time to get moving and get my energy back again!! I am going back to tracking the food I put in my mouth. I tend to eat less when I have to write it down and track it. I h... Mon, 14 May 2012 08:49:07 EST Scale starting to move again After about a month of the scale not moving or yo-yoing, it is finally moving downward. I have recommitted myself to P90X and I am back running consistantly. Now I need to also focus on my eating. I tend to think because I workout a lot, that I can eat anything I want. That could be why the scale did not move. This week I started tracking my points again and staying within my points range and I am really losing the weight!!!! Plus I dropped a pants size!!!! And the new jeans are actua... Fri, 9 Mar 2012 08:58:32 EST Nutrition is everything This is going to be the time I finally finish a whole 90 days of P90X. Yes it is only day 4, but I am super excited and motivated. Also this is the first time attempting P90X that I have started seeing results this quick. I have already lost 3 pounds, and I owe that all to Weight Watchers. Before I would just eat what I want using the excuse that I am burning tons of calories. And as you would guess I did not lose much weight, got frustrated and quit.

Not this time!!! Yes I a... Wed, 4 Jan 2012 08:38:33 EST Not a good week I am not looking forward to my weigh in tomorrow. I just know I am going to have a gain 39 It is my own fault. I did not track at all all weekend and basically ate what ever I want. Now I did not eat as much as previous years, but still ate more than I should. So I guess I have only myself to blame.

I am starting P90X on the 1st so hopefully the weight will not stay on for long.

Does not help that there are some problems at home. These are ongoing argum... Wed, 28 Dec 2011 09:38:39 EST 5% gone Finally had a really good week, after 3 weeks of no weight loss. I lost 5 pounds this week and reachmy 5% weight loss goal. I have lost 13 pounds in 8 weeks!!!!

I think the key is to eat all my points. I did not exercise as much this week and yet lost weight. I have also started drinkin 3 glasses of milk a day. Lets hope I can keep this momentum going!!!!! Thu, 17 Nov 2011 21:27:17 EST Confused!!!! I am really confused right now. I still am working out the kinks and trying to figure out the right combination of points and exercise.

I was pretty sure I was not going to lose any weight this week. I was actually worried I would have a gain. I have not exercised as much this week because I am nursing a sore back.

So this morning I step on my scale at home and I am down 2 more pounds. Which really baffles me, because last night I was really bad and had a wendys hamb... Wed, 2 Nov 2011 09:21:12 EST No loss/No gain Well I did not lose any this week, but I also did not gain. At first I was kinda bummed. Then I looked at the big picture and realized I lost 8 pounds in a month, which is huge for me!!!

Then I went to the Y and ran 2 miles on the tredmill. I had not run in a couple weeks. I could not believe how much easier it was to run. I can't wait to lose more so it gets even easier and I get faster.

My goal this week is to lose at least 2 pounds so that I can be at an even 10 ... Fri, 28 Oct 2011 08:12:40 EST Down a size So excited that I can fit into my size 18 jeans again!!!! I was able to button them last week, but they were still to tight to wear. Today I am wearing them!!!!

I have not exercised as much this week, but should still have a small loss. Next week Boot Camp starts back up, so that will help.

I am still loving weight watchers. Who would have though that in a month I could have a 10 pound loss. It has always been so hard for me to lose weight. Guess I never had th... Wed, 26 Oct 2011 08:20:09 EST Week 3 weigh in I am loving Weight Watchers!!!! Lost another 4.4 pounds this week. That gives me 8 pounds in 3 weeks. I have never lost weight this fast. I am just about in my size 18 jeans again as well. I can get them zipped, but they are a little tight.

I think one of the reasons I love WW is that I do not feel like I am on a diet. I can eat all my favorite foods (just smaller portions and in moderation) so I am not feeling deprived or starving.

I cut back on the carbs this w... Fri, 21 Oct 2011 09:05:20 EST Taste buds changing I have not posted in a while. Weight watchers is still going well. I should have a lose this week.

Funny thing happened to me last night. I was so hungry for a burger and fries from Wendys. I figured I still had points that I could use in my plan so I just got a small fry.

Well neither the fries or hamburger tasted good to me, and normally I love Wendys fries. Guess that cured me of those cravings. My husband loves Wendys so we eat there once a week. Next week it... Wed, 19 Oct 2011 08:53:58 EST Expected gain I gained .8 pounds this week. I don't think I was eating enough with all the workouts I have been doing. That and I am lifting pretty heavy weights at boot camp and building muscle.

I did lose inches though!!! I lost 1/2 inch on my chest and waist and an inch on my thighs. So I will take that as a victory.

Gonna keep pushing myself through my workouts and hope it shows on the scale next week. I just need to figure out how much I need to eat. Thu, 13 Oct 2011 21:29:44 EST Day 2 Boot Camp Did not want to get out of bed this morning. But I knew I had 2 friends waiting for me at the gym for Boot Camp. So out I crawled!

So glad I did. My arms may feel like jello, but it was such a great workout. And it feels good to have my workout done for the day.

Scary thing is that I am considering getting up early tomorrow morning as well. Scary to think I may be turning myself into a morning person. Tue, 11 Oct 2011 08:19:47 EST Still going strong I am still doing really well. I think this is the longest I have been able to stick with a plan. I am doing really well with my eating. I even chose an orange over chips and salsa last night for snack.

Being on weight watchers and having to log my food has really made me think before I eat something. I really want to eat something that is not good, but then I stop and think, how many points will that be? Then I realize it is not worth it.

I have even been able to tr... Mon, 10 Oct 2011 09:38:03 EST 1st weight watchers weigh in Did pretty well last week. I lost 4.4 pounds according to their scales. I was hoping for 5, but I will be happy with any loss.

My tricepts are really sore this morning from boot camp and I am tired this morning. Gonna try to get some type of workout in today, but not sure what.

Sat I am going to try to start running on a more consistant basis. I am aiming for at least 4 days a week.

Fri, 7 Oct 2011 08:21:02 EST Boot Camp Today was my first morning of Boot Camp. God was it hard to get out of bed, but I had told a friend I would be there. So that helped motivate me to get out of bed.

It was a good tough workout. My tricepts are really sore right now, so I know I got a good workout. It is nice knowing that my workout is out of the way already. Not sure if I can start getting up earlier every day. But for right now I will be doing it every Tuesday and Thrusday.

I am anxious to see w... Thu, 6 Oct 2011 08:27:44 EST Scale moving!!! Weight watchers is really helping me. The scale is finally moving in the right direction. I was at 268 this morning and I feel great!!!!

I ate real healthy yesterday. So I had enough points that I could have a small piece of left over dairy cream ice cream cake. I was proud of myself in that I cut a smaller than normal piece and really enjoyed it.

The biggest thing I have really changed this week has been my portion sizes. I am back to using my food scale and real... Tue, 4 Oct 2011 09:34:34 EST Mega Yesterdays hike was brutal. It rained the entire 7 hours I was out on the trails. The boulders section was so hard and took me almost 2hours. I slipped a couple times and banged up my shins and ankles, but luckily no major injuries.

I only made it 8.5 miles out of the 12 I wanted to finish. But I am happy to say my knees felt great while hiking and are not sore at all today. That is a huge accomplishment for me.

Sun, 2 Oct 2011 18:49:07 EST Weight watchers Last night was my first weight watchers meeting. It actually seems pretty easy to track my points. I think I will do well on the program. Plus if I know I have to report points, I will think twice about eating junk. Love that fruits and most vegetables are 0 points!!

Getting really excited about the Mega tomorrow. I keep visioning how I will feel when I cross the finish line. Just hope I can make the cut offs.
Fri, 30 Sep 2011 13:55:38 EST Pants are getting lose again!!!! It has only been 4 days since I started increasing my workouts, and already my pants feel looser. I am really excited. I usually have problems losing weight, but I lose inches quickly.

I also noticed that since I started running every day again my feet and legs do not hurt when I get up in the mornings!

I am really enjoying water aerobics again. Went again last night and what a great workout. We did jump squats and boy did I really feel the burn.

Next we... Thu, 29 Sep 2011 09:48:52 EST Confidence I finally found my spark and confidence and it feels awesome!!!!

Ever since pushing myself to finish the Dam Half Trail challenge, I have felt like I can do anything. My energy level is up and my body really feels like it is getting stronger with every workout.

I can't wait to test myself at the Mega this Saterday. And to think that just a few weeks ago, I was ready to pull myself out of this challenge. Now I am ready to push myself and finish all 25 miles!!!! Wed, 28 Sep 2011 09:44:08 EST Weight watchers So after watching Dr. Oz yesterday, I am thinking of joining Weight watchers. I think the extra support would be great. Not sure how well I will stick with the eating program. I am not good at always tracking what I eat. Maybe going to the meetings will help with that.

The first meeting is Thrusday night, so I am going to go try. I am giving myself till the end of the year to get down to 250 pounds. If I reach that goal, I will continue with weight watchers. That is a 3 mo... Tue, 27 Sep 2011 08:31:29 EST Starting over Ok time to get serious again. I have gotten lazy lately and the scale is starting to show it!!! I am back up to 274 pounds and not liking it.

Time to start eating healthier and exercising more. I want to try to start going back to water aerobics and running again.

Now I just need to try to start getting out of bed earlier, so I can get another workout in. I did this once, I know I can do it again!!!

I just need to make sure that I do not let the scale ... I should have a lose this week.

Today was the third day in a row that I hit my 10,000 steps. Mon, 4 Oct 2010 22:06:56 EST Long Run Well thanks to being mad at my husband, I got my exercise in. I went for a long 5 mile run to try to relieve some stress and frustrations. Still mad at him, but at least I feel pretty good about myself for getting a workout in instead of sitting around watching football all day.

My 5 mile run inspired me to run a 5K in two weeks that I was going to pass on. Sun, 3 Oct 2010 21:02:06 EST 5% challenge Had a tough time getting in the groove this week. Did not get in as much workouts as I wanted.

Got back on track this morning. I got my normal Sat workout in. I can already see the muscles starting to get bigger thanks to lifting.

This week my goal is to finally make it to a Zumba class and really watch what I eat. Sat, 2 Oct 2010 19:18:58 EST 5% challenge The rain stopped this afternoon and I had a great night to run to the Y. I played 3 games of volleyball, lifted weights and then walked home. I feel much better now. Having those games forced me to move.

We had lunch catered for us at work today. They made seafood gumbo and it was so good, but I ate way to much which made me feel sluggish the rest of the day. But I got a great workout in tonight and burned off those excess calories. Tue, 28 Sep 2010 21:11:14 EST 5% challenge Well I can honestly say that without this challenge I would have done nothing tonight. I did not feel like doing anything, but did not want to let the team down. So I broke out the WII, which I have not used in a while and got a good workout in. It felt really good, so now I can get back on track.

Mon, 27 Sep 2010 20:49:27 EST Headache So not much activity to speak of today :( I did get my meditation and yoga in this morning, but got a headache this afternoon that took me down.
