PRINCESSAA12's SparkPeople Blog PRINCESSAA12's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community I will be back... Today it was the day for the elliptical machine. I printed out the 30 minute elliptical workout from spark pages and tried the workout for the first time. Honestly, it was soooo challenging for me. Just way too difficult. I did manage to finish it though. But this was how I was feeling at the end of the work out:

I guess I was already a little tired when I began. But I just pushed through the whole work... Tue, 26 Nov 2013 09:37:38 EST Today I tried something new again I've not been doing very well with running. Shin splints are killing me. Hence I decided not to take my legs for granted anymore. I remember not being able to do any exercise when I had knee issues. Now with persistent shin splints I know that running or even speed walking is not for me.

Hence, yesterday I went swimming.Today I rode the stationary bike. I tried spark people's Stationary Biking Intervals. It's an awesome program. Tells you exactly what to do and it made my workout... Sat, 23 Nov 2013 03:09:21 EST My 3 month progress It's been slightly more than 3 months since I've started working out regularly. By regular, I mean at least 4 times a week. I notice that I have my lazy days - the days where I don't want to work out as much. The days where I sit around thinking about the workout for a long time rather than just getting off that couch and working out. Hence I've come up with just one strategy to cope with during these days: Like NIKE says, Just Do It. And hence, I just do it. I coax myself into starting off w... Fri, 8 Nov 2013 12:32:06 EST I almost died on the Elliptical today Today was gym day. I decided to start off with the tread mill. I usually don't last very long because I get bored and so I have to hop onto something else after a while. I lasted 25 mins. Then I moved to the stationary bike. I had planned to work out another 30 mins or so. However, when I sat on the bike in the gym, the sun was glaring at my face and I didn't have my sunglasses with me. So I lasted exactly 1 minute on the stationary bike.

I didn't feel like doing the rowing machin... Wed, 23 Oct 2013 09:46:15 EST Got myself a new jeans... a size smaller. So I'm finally out of the size 20 jeans. I've been a size 20 for more than a year now. I was bigger before that. My biggest was a size 24. Today I am in a size 18 jeans. Happy to be in the 'teens'. Really really happy! Here's a picture!

Thu, 17 Oct 2013 01:38:14 EST Tried something new again. Every time I go to the gym, I am always at the stationary bike or the treadmill. I've seen people using this machine but never had the courage to walk up to it and use it. Today I did it. I tried this thing. Anyone know what it's called? It really worked my upper arms and thighs. Is it a rowing machine?

Tue, 15 Oct 2013 01:27:33 EST I went swimming today! Today I decided to try swimming. Again I felt the same way I felt just a couple of weeks ago, when I was first stepping into the gym. I was self conscious and wondering if anyone was looking, staring or wondering what the hell I was doing.

Just as I did before, I managed to put all that aside and went into the pool anyway. I told myself I was going to do one lap and I could stop if I wanted to. Lap after lap, I said the same thing: one more lap and I can stop if I wanted to. I mana... Tue, 8 Oct 2013 10:11:41 EST The weighing scale maniac Did I tell you that I am a weighing scale maniac? I have a real problem with the scale just like alcoholics with drinks or chain smokers with cigarettes. Once I step on it, I keep wanting to step on it throughout the day to see if it just tips a little to the left and I think "Oh maybe I've lost 1kg because I ate so little today. I exercised today. I must have lost a couple of kilos".

And so I step on that evil machine which always is never on my side. It's never my friend. It mak... Sun, 6 Oct 2013 12:25:10 EST The days where I want to eat everything I see I do well with food most of the time. Then there comes a day (typically about once a week), where I just want to keep eating. As if there's some hunger deep within, something that quite doesn't hit the spot, and so I need more food to fill that up. I was wondering why I get like that once a week or so.

And I finally found out. On those days, I usually have not taken care of myself very well and hence h... Sun, 6 Oct 2013 12:06:02 EST Dealing with "exercise" boredom I have a problem. I get bored easily. With a lot of things. And so exercise is no exception. I get bored with it. Found a simple fix to it. I change up my exercises since I don't like doing the same thing over and over. Here are the exercises I do for now:

Workout DVDs ( I have about 8 different ones)
Exercise Bike
Thread mill
Yoga

That's all. I'm wanting to try more. But for now, this is good enough. Never thought I'll like the stationary bike. It's reall... Sat, 5 Oct 2013 14:31:20 EST Emotional eating So I've given up binge eating for a long time now. But I do eat emotionally sometimes. Well maybe I should say several times.

A year ago, I lost 10kgs. I am still maintaining that loss. I have not put on weight but I have not lost more either. When I sat down to think what was keeping me at the weight that I am, I could only pin point on two reasons. One: My relationship with food. And two: I stopped working out for the past year because of the knee pain (that came up after an acc... Wed, 2 Oct 2013 09:39:30 EST Tried something new today There's a gym at the place where I live at. My husband has recently started working out. I have only been doing yoga at home. I have been getting stronger and I'm now able to practice for a longer time with a little more advanced poses compared to where I was a month ago.

So he asked me to join him at the gym today. My immediate reply was this "I'm too shy and self-conscious to come to the gym". His reply "Don't even think someone is looking at you. Everyone is busy in their own w... Sat, 28 Sep 2013 04:17:24 EST Bad day Yesterday was a bad day. The day started off fine and then along the way I made some bad choices, like chocolates and chips to curb my hunger. I still ate within calorie range and thought it was ok. But I woke up in the middle of the night because I was way too hungry and made myself a cup of warm milk. Lesson learnt from yesterday: Junk is junk and will never fill me up the way real food does. Today I will do better. Tue, 27 Aug 2013 03:29:15 EST Cardio

I had to share this. It was too funny to keep it to myself. 246 Mon, 26 Aug 2013 07:33:55 EST High protein evening bread I was doing my weekly shopping at the supermarket last week and came across this:

What really excited me was the high protein content when compared to other regular white or wheat bread. Also, this has a much lower carbohydrate content. I've never come across another bread where the carbohydrate content is lower than the protein content. And this is called the high protein evening bread. It was al... Sat, 24 Aug 2013 12:51:56 EST Yoga Just finished a 30 minute yoga session. Today as I was doing yoga, I noticed that I am a little bit stronger and a little bit more flexible and I could hold the poses for a little longer. I am glad I found yoga. With the pain in my knees, I don't think anything else is more suitable than yoga for me. I have started walk away the pounds too but I am very careful not to exert. I need to build up stregth in my knees before I take the workouts any further. Hope to get into this --> 405... Tue, 20 Aug 2013 08:01:29 EST New work out plans I've been adding back the exercises. Again, the knees are starting to act up. I was doing some Leslie Sansone's dvds for a week and then I couldn't continue further. It's annoying that I can't work out as vigorously as I'd like. So I decided to add some yoga. The yoga has sort of helped with my knees. But I'm too scared to do my walking dvds again for fear that the pain will be back. I really enjoy those dvds and they really make me sweat! Kinda feel stuck while I'm still trying to figure out... Thu, 15 Aug 2013 12:09:25 EST Filling food The times I get hungry, I remember how I used to search the shelves for a bag of chips. Of coz they gave me the crunch and filled me up, only to throw me back at the shelves in minutes. Hence I was experimenting with food and I've discovered some food that take that hunger away instantly and keep me full for a longer time that a bag of chips.

These are my "filling foods"

Peanut butter on a 25 calorie tortilla
2 eggs
Steamed fish
Steamed chicken
grille... Tue, 14 May 2013 16:20:55 EST The Fat me vs. The Thin me I decided to write up this blog because I am currently doing "Why weight" workbook by Geneen Roth. She's my favourite author for weightloss issues. So there's a page asking me to list out the fat me and the thin me qualities. Here's mine.

The Fat me:
always wears large clothes
is feeling huge all the time
feels like a set of boobs
is quiet
is sensitive
is angry
is quick tempered
is impulsive
is over protective.

The fat me wea... Sat, 27 Apr 2013 09:50:27 EST Where have I been? The last blog entry I've made was on Jul7 27th, 2012. That was 10 months ago. What has changed from then till now?

Well I have moved to the United Arab Emirates. I am now working here. My life seems somewhat perfect. I love my house here. I love the atmosphere and my family loves it too. Everything seems rosy, except the weight issues.

I've come to realise that weight is something that I will have to deal with for the rest of my life. It's not something that I can "fix" ... Sat, 27 Apr 2013 09:36:37 EST Not used to this Since dropping some pounds, I realise, I'm so not used to this 'new' body of mine.

I had an argument with my daughter today and I raised up my hands and threw them back down after pointing at her and they hit hard on my hips. That's right, not on my stomach like they used to, because now the hips stick out more than the stomach. Or rather, the stomach has shrunk so it isn't sticking out that much.

I was out with my husband having dinner and while I sat, there isn't a lo... Wed, 27 Jun 2012 12:38:48 EST What I had for lunch today

My one year old and I were celebrating each others' birthday (no we don't share the same birthday) and so we were singing and wishing each other. And then we shared an entire cake. I ate about 4 slices and she ate 2. Calorie count: 0.

Then I prepared lunch for myself: Vegetable soup and pan-fried halibut fish. Calorie count: 300

<img src=" Fri, 22 Jun 2012 04:02:10 EST A slow loser's testimony: If you fail to plan, you plan to fail I weighed in today and noticed that I only lost 1kg for an entire month. I was a little set back at first. And then I took some time to reflect on the weight loss. The entire month, my eating habits have improved so much. My taste buds have changed. My food preferences have changed.

I can actually boil a pot of veggies and eat the whole thing for dinner with some protein on the side. I used to think that veggies really suck and I've actually learnt to cook them in some interesting... Thu, 21 Jun 2012 08:42:13 EST Grapes and some comparison pics with hubby Today I wanted to have a 100 cal snack. I had just bought grapes a couple of days ago and decided to have 100 cal of grapes. I weighed them and when I looked at the amount, I knew I was not going to be able to finish it. So I decided to have just 50 cal of grapes. They are way better than splurging 100 cal on biscuits or some other junk. Here's a pic of my bowl of grapes! Yummy.

That's a lof of food for... Tue, 5 Jun 2012 12:48:05 EST Shin splints I was so prepared this morning when I went to work. I brought my work out gear and shoes with me. I even remembered my pedometer. When work ended at 6pm, I went straight to the stadium and started my walk. Again I was hit with shin splint on my leg leg. I only get shin splints when I walk at the stadium. And it's always on my left leg only. The other leg felt fine and there was no pain elsewhere too. I wonder why this happens. I've walked at the stadium 3 times now and all 3 times I had shin ... Sat, 2 Jun 2012 08:18:22 EST Food I went out with my best friend yesterday and here's what we ate. Yoghut with toppings! This is mine:

And this is hers:

I love how colourful our food looks. Visual stimulation. And it was yummy yummy yummy...

Thu, 31 May 2012 03:56:20 EST 10kgs down --> comparison pics Here is a picture of me at 105kg:

And another taken of me yesterday at 95kgs:

I have a long way to go. But even that 10kgs off me seems like a huge accomplishment. Thu, 24 May 2012 22:14:03 EST My 2nd outdoor walk Somewhere last week I went for my very first outdoor walk. I was a little hesitant and somewhat very self conscious. I told myself that I would enjoy the walk as much as I could. About 10 minutes into the walk, I noticed that I didn't have anyone staring at me or wondering what this woman was doing. People are just too busy with their own lifes to care about someone walking/jogging. At the end of the walk, I was very relieved.

Today I went for my 2nd outdoor walk. I was so relaxed ... Wed, 23 May 2012 05:12:34 EST Lost 2kgs! Yeay! So I just complained on Saturday that the scale hasn't moved. So today it moved! And I'm down 2kgs! Yeay!!! Yeay!!! and YEAY!!! Sun, 20 May 2012 23:38:00 EST The annoying scale So I've been at 96 for over 3 weeks, counting calories and making sure I do not exceed 1400 calories. And the scale just won't tip. I'm not sure if my body has started burning only 1400 calories just so as to conserve the energy. That's so annoying. I'll be so starved if I eat anything less than this. I'm thinking if I should move on to a low carb diet instead.

Sat, 19 May 2012 10:20:01 EST Lunch.. and a question about the stomach I was feeling very hungry just a couple of hours after breakfast. I knew I had to prepare lunch immediately. I was too lazy to cook anything from scratch. So I decided to boil some macaroni and campbell's macaroni soup. My 375 calories lunch looked like this:

Just after I threw in the macaroni

After mixing it up. I don't actually like seeing the bubbles appear as the macaroni soaks in the soup. It l... Tue, 15 May 2012 00:25:29 EST Breakfast today I just had these for breakfast: Sky flakes, soy milk and a banana.

Just noticed that the brand of my steamer is "Princess" too. ;)

I've been wanting to post some progress pics but I just haven't taken a snap of myself yet. Will do it soon.
Mon, 14 May 2012 21:53:36 EST Tomorrow's lunch I'm getting so sleepy and here I am planning for tomorrow's lunch. Tomorrow I'm going to cook prawn porridge. So I will throw in some rice, prawns, mushrooms and spinach. Total calories 350. Which means I will be hungry again after lessons. So I must plan for a snack. How about a banana? and some biscuits? 100 calories each? Sat, 12 May 2012 10:51:11 EST You can break free too Do you have a trigger food? The kind of food that you can never have in your house? Or you would eat and eat and eat and you have no control over it? The kind of food that would sit in your pantry or fridge and call out your name continuously until you took it out and finished the entire thing?

I had too. I was an ice-cream addict. I could never say NO to an ice-cream no matter how stuffed I felt. Even when I was so full that my stomach was painful, I could still squeeze in an ice-... Thu, 10 May 2012 12:46:18 EST A wierd walk Today I didn't want to tire myself too much. I was afraid I might injure my knees if I overstrained. So I decided to just do a one mile walk. I did it and it was over in 15 mins. After doing that walk however, I felt it ended too soon and wanted to walk more. So I decided to put on the dvd for a four mile walk. All the while I promised myself that if I felt any pain or I was too tired, I would stop. But hey, I managed to finish up the additional 4 miles. So today, I walked 5 miles. And that's... Thu, 10 May 2012 07:08:24 EST Exercise I'm at work right now. It is parent-teachers meet today. I'm sitting here waiting for the parents to turn up and I thought, this is a good time to blog! Well so here I am. I'm back on exercise since this week after my physio gave me the signal. I've been warned however, to only exercise on alternate days and if there is any pain, then I'm to leave 2 days inbetween exercises. I've been taking it easy and following her rules and my knees are not bothering me. So I'm actually very happy to be ex... Fri, 4 May 2012 06:18:44 EST The good thing about counting calories I've been on a 1400 calorie diet since about a week ago. Years ago, when I first heard the idea of counting calories, it seemed like a really difficult, daunting task to do. I've tried calorie counting before when I was a teenager. I never succeeded at it because I never knew the size of a portion and I didn't have access to things that seemed too sophisticated to use: measuring cups and a food scale.

Now I am a proud owner of those 'sophisticated' stuff. When I started out countin... Sun, 29 Apr 2012 08:12:06 EST Dinner Since I've got no rules on food, except that I stay within the calorie range and a maximum of 2 fried items a day, I decided to have bananas for dinner.

It was filling! Mon, 23 Apr 2012 09:26:50 EST Pictures I just came back home a while ago, after tuition. I was trying to find the main road out of where I was. And I found this:

So I kept walking and it seemed like a very long walk especially under the HOT sun. I tried to enjoy the scenary as much as I could. I really liked the path. Here's another snap:

When I walked t... Mon, 23 Apr 2012 04:53:13 EST Forgiving myself Today is the 5th day of my 1400 calorie diet. That stupid voice in my head which always discouraged me is no longer there. That voice which used to say, "Let's see if you'll survive this" is not there anymore. Maybe it's around. But I just don't hear it much now.

I hear a much more loving, gentle and caring voice that says "You can do it. I'm with you. You're worth it." On the first 2 days of the diet, I was having a horrible headache. I think it was also partly because I had cut o... Mon, 23 Apr 2012 02:01:27 EST My 1400 calories diet Yesterday I was scheduled to see a dietician. That was my first time ever meeting someone professional for a weight loss issue. She was helping me plan out my meals based on what I liked to eat. I don't know how she calculated what she did, but she told me that for me to lose weight, I'd have to eat no more than 1400 calories per day.

So the breakdown is as follows:
Breakfast- 300 calories
Lunch- 500 calories
Snack- 100 calories
Dinner- 500 calories

... Wed, 18 Apr 2012 21:12:42 EST Food and Exercise I had my first appointment with the physio therapist yesterday. He has told me to stay away from any exercise, including walking, for the next 6 weeks. Instead, he has given me some exercises to strengthen my quads. I was quite disappointed that he put me off walking actually. I was secretly planning on getting a new brace and walking "illegally". But I decided not to after my bestie gave me some sound advice. She warned me "You better not walk now".

I did the exercises the physio ... Fri, 16 Mar 2012 03:31:37 EST Not giving up on me I've been home a lot more than usual since losing the full time job I was holding on to. Losing a job is no fun but the good news about that is that my knee pain has reduced by more than half and I am feeling more like a normal human being now.

I am thinking perhaps this is god's way of telling me to stop and take it easy and let my knee heal. If I didn't lost my job, I would still be running around everyday and I remember how painful my knee used to be. I'm happy to see the swell... Tue, 13 Mar 2012 10:53:30 EST The way to health... Tue, 28 Feb 2012 03:51:31 EST Are you taking up the vegan challenge? Why does sparkpeople always have to challenge me? I've been thinking about how I need to add more veg into my diet and then I came across this blog
ournal_individual.asp?blog_id=4759459

which is about the vegan challenge. Do I really have to take it up? Just the thought of it stirs up some real discomfort in me. Because I haven't done vegan for over 15 years. I don't know if I can keep it up.

I really want to do it. But I'm ... Mon, 27 Feb 2012 11:45:02 EST The mind is playing games I did a 1.6 mile walk today. I was aiming for 2 but I just couldn't do it today. I felt my pace slowing down and my body just wanted to stop. And so I stopped. I'm happy that I now listen to my body while working out. In the past I used to do whatever I had planned for even if it was hurting me. And you know, such workouts, never last forever.

I'm working 7 days a week now. Yes that's everyday. And I am getting tired. But I don't want to give up my workdays unless I really have to.... Mon, 27 Feb 2012 00:13:17 EST Got hit by a truck yesterday I was on my way to work with my husband on his motorbike. We were heading straight and the truck driver who was turning didn't see us. He quickly swerved his truck onto us and we were flung to the middle of a cross junction. I was shocked beyond words and was honestly fearing if any vehicle was gonna hit us from the back, left, right or front.

I was on the ground and just couldn't move. I saw twenty over people running to the road to help me and my husband up. We were taken to the ... Thu, 16 Feb 2012 10:40:12 EST Finally started exercising today I'm so happy to have walked a mile today. I've been off exercise for over a month now because of my surgery and my doctor has finally given me the go-ahead to exercise. I was anticipating this exercise for a few days now and I decided to be gentle and take it easy and just start off with Leslie Sansone's 2 mile walk.

Within 5 mins I was feeling tired and in 15 mins I was panting. I managed to push through for a mile and then I decided to stop for the day. I've realised that just o... Wed, 15 Feb 2012 03:02:43 EST No appetite. What do I do? After having my gallbladder removed, I've noticed that I now have no appetite. I don't feel hungry all day. It's usually late in the day when I start to feel hungry and when I eat something, I'm full quickly. I'm also feeling giddy when I stand up after sitting for a while. And I've been having diarrheoa since the removal of my gb. My diarrheoa is not that bad mostly but on some days, I would need to use the toilet as many as 5 times a day. Anyone had this happen to you?

I'm consi... Wed, 8 Feb 2012 15:53:12 EST A nonsense blog I have so much to say today. So this might be a 'vent' blog.

My in laws have packed up and returned to their hometown after staying at my place for 2 months. Now my house suddenly feels so quiet and empty. Shaz, my older daughter, kept asking me where they went and whether they're coming back. She just loves company as much as I do. Sometimes I wish my family would go out somewhere and leave me all alone and when I am alone, I wish they'd all come back. What a wierd feeling that i... Tue, 31 Jan 2012 01:05:53 EST
