She wasn't running a temp, but the stool was red-red, seemingly indicating that the blood was originating somewhere in the colon (or at least post stomach/digestion process). We talked to the vet's office. They advised to give very little soft/gentle foods for 24 hours and see how she did. For the next 24 hours, she did amazingly well. Add to that the fact that I decided to train on road surfaces instead of the track, and it made for a run that was way more tiring than usual. I was proud that I stuck with it... I had a meal that I've vetted and had in the past. It's within my carb-restricted diet guidelines. I ate 95% of the meal, and then I dropped Momma off at home. Momma thought I was acting weird, but I insisted that nothing was wrong. I didn't think that anything was... That maybe should have been my first sign. The farmer who tried to "steal" Bear out from under us is still interested in him, so he was planning to go in and pick him up and give him a "job" to do. I gave him a lot of written information on him and my observations and experiences. I hope it works out for Bear there. Wed, 3 Mar 2010 21:33:46 EST Have you ever had to give a dog back? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2951064 I admit that the last week has been a struggle for a lot of reasons, but one of the biggest things adding to my stress is having Bear in the house. From 9 pm -11 pm every night, it's rather peaceful because his belly is full and he's finally tired. It's all the hours in the day before that that are a nightmare. I've reached the end of my rope. I talked with Momma and DH about it. I've come close to taking him back twice before tonight, but tonight I think that we hit the wall. Momma has... Knock on wood (BIG KNOCK)... Since the first day, there have been no more messes in the house, and no more jumping up on counters. He's still dancing on the pool, but I think that one is going to take a little more time since you can't tell the pool from anything else under the feet of snow that keeps falling!!! We paid for it to be performed next Wednesday, and I had scheduled to take off work. I had my fingers crossed so tightly that I would be able to take him home with that level of commitment. It was to no avail. They insisted that the only exception were made for dogs that were too ill to go through surgery or too young. She has been lame off and on for the past two months. There doesn't seem to be any tried and true pattern to the lameness, but it was always on the same back leg and seemed to be in the knee. It *seemed* to occur more after she would go "Psycho Dog" in the snow and play hard and crazy trying to make quick cuts and such. Well... Fast forward to this past Tuesday. Sun, 7 Feb 2010 19:04:27 EST The Personality Swap http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2837942 A friend posted a blog today about a young woman who linked her self-worth to her weight and/or others (BF) opinions. Don't you wonder how they got this far (at least 20 somethings) in life thinking that? I think something had to be lacking at home. I *could* be COMPLETELY wrong, but I think that if you are raised in a healthy home with positive self-esteem (not to be confused with conceit) you won't let your sense of self-worth depend upon how others see you.

I REALLY think you... She is not tolerant of medicine, and it seems she is now ready to give up the battle altogether. Her diabetes is out of control and her kidneys... My NIke+ is driving me insane!!! I use it with an iPod Touch. I have the walk calibrated, and it is always spot on. The run seems to be off. It was off by approximately .14 after the race. I attempted to run tonight (not only for health), but I also wanted to finally get this thing calibrated for my running. It didn't work! After running for 1.75 miles, I was t... Thu, 17 Sep 2009 23:15:06 EST A BRAND NEW PR!!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2405931 Tonight was my final pre-5K training run. Wed, 16 Sep 2009 22:14:30 EST Guiding Light... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2403215 Just wanted to say as we go into "hump day" and have three episodes left how incredibly sad I am. The end of Guiding Light is the end of an entire era of television. I understand that times are changing and the demographic that "soaps" aimed for has since gone to work instead of being primarily burdened (or blessed) with caring for their families from their homes. I also understand that it is hard to pay the salaries of the numerous stars that inhabit Springfield... Even though they don't... Tue, 15 Sep 2009 22:56:33 EST Another trial run... AND A NEW PR!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2400262 I ran with my running buddy "TK" tonight and DH (although we never keep up with him), and I finished my 5K distance in 37:20 for a 12:01 pace per mile. That was a new personal record for me. I actually felt pretty good for the most part when I was running. At times, my legs felt heavy, but I only walked the equivalent of 3 songs and pushed hard for the duration. I have one more run and then the race on Saturday...

For all of you out there logging miles, whether walking or runni... Mon, 14 Sep 2009 23:13:18 EST Trial Run... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2396869 Yesterday I ran a trial for next Saturday's 5K... I didn't push myself too terribly hard. I just wanted to try to mimic race day conditions and get a feel for it since I hadn't attempted the whole distance in a while. I ended up running (walked four songs worth) the distance in 39:11. That is less than my last 5K. I know I could have done a little better too if I had pushed myself. I think I'm going to be ready for race day after all. I'm going to do the same thing tomorrow and see how... I got on the treadmill and did the brisk walk warm up for 3 minutes, ran for 20 minutes, then race walked for 5 minutes, then finally cooled down for 2 minutes... Total workout = 30 minutes... 2.44 miles...

I NEVER, EVER, EVER THOUGHT I WOULD SAY THIS, BUT I FEEL AMAZING!!! My breathing was steady, I was sweating like a pig, but it was AWESOME... Thu, 10 Sep 2009 21:32:54 EST Running again... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2387396 It's been a couple of weeks since I can honestly say I "ran" in the truest sense of the word. I have been race walking a lot, and every once in a while, I will break into a jog, but it's not a sustained jog for any real length of time. Since the next 5K is just around the corner on September 19th, and I still haven't decided for certain whether I am running or walking, I decided to let my body make the determination this time around. So today I did some running intervals. I would run for ... Wed, 9 Sep 2009 23:50:07 EST
