Mon, 5 Aug 2013 17:14:54 EST Renovations in full swing - our new bathroom - a WIP http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5444346 I promised to blog about the house today, so here I am. First of all, here it is from the front. We had the porch doors and the new door at the rght side done before the wedding. The door on the right replaced a window, although there used to be one there long ago which was a servants' entrance. It will eventually be a separate entrance for tenants upstairs once a second staircase has been installed and partition walls built to separate their part of the house from ours.

<img src=... Sun, 4 Aug 2013 17:36:32 EST Back to blogging now that I'm back on track! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5443276 Lots has happened since I last blogged in November last year. I started a new teaching job which I hoped would be made permanent. This didn't work out, but I won't go into details as it's being pursued by my teaching union for compensation at the moment.

We carried on waiting for probate on my dad's estate. Sat, 3 Aug 2013 13:07:35 EST Busy day at school, home to ironing, cardio session & strength training too!!! And 25% of the way th http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5142747 Well, it was busy as usual at the school I've now been at for 5 days... they want me there till the end of next week, and possibly permanently, as they need to decide how best to manage their vacancy and also the teacher who has health issues - the children have been so disrupted and boy, does it tell!!??

The mornings have been great and the support from other staff has been wonderful, but thwe children see their teacher back, but not teaching them, so they are getting disgruntled ... Wed, 21 Nov 2012 16:37:03 EST Busy, busy, busy....4 days in one school and counting (fingers crossed) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5141639 So, I got called into a school I had visited months ago when I was first looking for a new teaching job. This was teaching Year 6, 10-11 year olds. At lunchtime I was asked if I could come back on Friday, as I was the first supply teacher the children had taken to. I said yes, so I went back... I found out that there was a permanent vacancy too, in year 5 or 6. I've been observed now twice, officially and unofficially and they still want me to stay for this week and next week too... They know... Tue, 20 Nov 2012 15:01:32 EST An early evening walk in suburbia on Saturday - my local country park! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5133000 There's a country park near where we live, and we DON'T live in the country! So we set out, late on Saturday afternoon, after the chores and shopping were done for the week... to South Norwood Country Park.

First port of call, however, was the cemetry; with November being the month of remembrance, it was a time to visit my parents and brother... they met us with the start of a beautiful sunset...
<img src="htt... Well, with an apartment in the centre of town (Wroclaw in Western Poland) and nothing but restaurants and coffee shops nearby, we walked everywhere. We stayed in the very centre of the city, in the old town square.

Everywhere we looked there were beautiful old buildings in the traditional East European style. The house itself had been neglected beyond its very basic of needs for a fair while - dad was stubborn and wanted to maintain control; he also was diagnosed with dementia the previous summer. This made introducing change, whether or not for the better, at best difficult, at worst impossible. The last year or so we have been waiting for probate, keeping thi... Wed, 17 Oct 2012 16:48:44 EST Tape measure is my friend too... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5101595 So, yesterday I found that another pound had disappeared and today I decided to get to grips with the tape measure - well, my neck is getting slimmer and my waist is down by an inch, confirmed by my jeans belt I bought 2 weeks ago, whcih I can now do up on the third hole - yippee!!!

Tonight was my oldest niece's birthday dinner, at a local 'gastro pub'. I had a school to go see late morning about a possible new teaching job to start in November and a parcel to pick up from the sorting office before that. I really had little inclination to do anything else....
I collected the parcel (a new wing mirror cover for my car) and got ready for the school visit - good news - a skirt that had been tight now fits, and as it's an elegant one, was perfect for the visit!! She has been pretty ill in the last few years with MS, but had a big op last year and now is MUCH BETTER, but has been unable to work because of the fits sustained. Anyway, we got talking about age etc...and suddenly we discovered that she is just 2 weeks yopunger than me. Now I had always thought she was a couple of years older and she was convinced that I was about 10 years younger than her - see my head swell lol!!! Amnyway, after a little girl... Thu, 11 Oct 2012 16:33:41 EST Exercise done, but not all the chores! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5094322 So, home again I knew I needed to do some serious exercise. Before anything else took over the day I did 52 minutes of the 28 Day Bootcamp Exercise DVD. It killed me, almost, but I persevered. then I did little else in the morning. The afternoon was somewhat better. I posted letters, fed the wild birds in the garden, put away the plastic greenhpuse cover for the winter, sorted the re-cycling before the rubbish gets collected tomorrow and prepared a tasty meal for tonight. I rewalised, all too... Wed, 10 Oct 2012 17:33:07 EST Met all food tracker targets :-) but too busy for exercise... :-( http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5091647 I made a long 'to do' list last night. I knew I was going to be at home all day and there were a lot of things I needed to get done.
1. Post some letters - done
2. Some washing - done
3. Mon, 8 Oct 2012 17:29:01 EST Back cycling indoors...!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5087966 Last night we collected a static bike. I haven't used one in about 5 years, byt. as ever willing to give it a go. Laurie (my fiance) is the family ycclist, but winter is fast approaching and it just gets too wet around here for cycling to be a real exercise option. As for me, I have balance issues (hereditory), so a static bike is a better option. Sabina, my 12 year old, also has the same balance issues and likes the idea of cycling, but prefers the anonymity and safety of the living room and... Fri, 5 Oct 2012 13:44:30 EST We had lunch out today... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5086895 I've still been waiting for the call from school, and nothing! So we had lunch out and I finished the ironing, just in time for the new iron to arrive for the next lot... to explain - we had a super iron that went wrong. It was just the wrong side of the guarantee period but the company decided to help us out and take it back for repair. We rang on Monday as it was late being returned.... it was last in transit so they sent us a completely new one, equivalent to what they had lost, but an up... Thu, 4 Oct 2012 17:40:23 EST Still home waiting, but NOT idle!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5085507 This morning started as yesterday, waiting for a call from school. Chances were, it wouldn't come. I had 2 choices, sit feeling sorry for myself and regret wasting time doing nothing at some later time, or take the day as a bonus to get some chores done.

I chose the latter option and feel so-o-o much better for it. I got some more ironing done, took 2 walks, wrote some letters, made some phone- calls that had to be made, tidied up my eyebrows ;-), dusted, washed floors, vacuumed th... Wed, 3 Oct 2012 17:14:40 EST Still home and still waiting!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5084090 So, I've done some home filing, I've exercised, done some ironing... but I'm still waiting for a call from school....my sleep is finally improving, although the stress means that I'm still not sleeping as well as I should be and since yesterday, despite eating really properly, I have a crop of 3 mouth ulcers, ouch and big time yuck!!!
I feel as if I'm in limbo; hopefully it will soon be over and I can move on... soon to be a distant memory!! Tue, 2 Oct 2012 16:58:29 EST Yuck, yuck, yuck!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5081898 Last week was great health and weight-wise. Workwise it stank!!! I can't go into too much detail, but it's the pits at the moment. I started my new job 3 1/2 weeks ago full of anticipation and hope for the future... but not any more... it really wasn't as I expected and once again... time to move on!! I really didn't expect to feel so low after such a short time - my colleagues are fantastic, as are the kids.... but I feel lost without any support from above!
I know things will be ok, bu... I enjoy many aspects, just wish that the 'management' had a more positive induction programme and managed their staff in a more personable way - instead of using their 'power' to intimidate and control - thank good ness for my graet taem colleagues.

Right, vent over. Another pound gone!!

Yay! Tried on some more clothes as I swopped 'wardrobes' from summer to winter and they're getting looser... I bought a suit with trousers and skirt a couple of months ago; both were too tight... tried them on today - the skirt is fine and the trousers are ok, but need a couple more pounds to wear them comfortably.

I'm happy, and oh, SO motivated!!

Got up and exercised before breakfast again, meaning to take a walk later, THEN..... i... Sat, 22 Sep 2012 17:41:46 EST Friday!!! A good one at that! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5069530 Thursday having been manic, not to mention emotional, at work, today was almost tranquil by comparison. I taught 2 maths lessons for my colleagues - I've missed doing that since changing jobs this month... it was fun! We were all more relaxed and the fact that the behaviour was better certainly made a difference to the day all round.

Anyway, I left at 4pm, so was exercising at home just after 5pm, managing a 40 minute whole cody challenge workout from the 28 day bootcamp dvd. Fri, 21 Sep 2012 18:13:09 EST Almost the weekend...yay!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5068118 Another 'interesting' day at work... good thing I've got broad shoulders as the day ended in tears for both of my young teachers, one because of TOM coupled with behavioural problems in the class, the other because she is a newly qualified teacher of little teaching experience who is having a hard time dealing with the daily expectations and responsibilities. They were both smiling by the time I came home - it'll be fine because they are both ded icated and committed to teaching.
As for ... It was great. I stunned them into silence and managed to get them onside by saying all the right things. They were VERY supportive, so a big WOO HOO for today.

AND.... I did a 30 minute 'tone and burn' workout when I got home - yay!!! Too tired to exercise, although I did go up an down those stairs at school! Rather a lot! Now it's after 10pm, so time to lay out my clothes for tomorrow and lay my weary head.

Tomorrow will be a better day, shorter and more sensible!!

And I WILL exerc... I brought up my nutrition feedback report and I was so close to being on track with everything that it's a YES!!!! I've struggled to eat enough protein, carbs fibre and calcium. Today it was all good and I was only just below what I should be for the fibre and calcium. Allowing for a few points here and there up or down... I've cracked it!!!
Now I just need 5 more hours in the day to fit in the exercise I want to do every day.

Maybe I should start to ... Thu, 13 Sep 2012 16:43:04 EST Another long day.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5056432 ... so today I concentrated on strength training, as I had done LOTS of stair-climbing at school, including a few times from the ground floor up to the third, at 2 flights per level!! Funnily enough I'm not as tired now, even though I was at about 5pm. The new job as a team leader over 2 other teachers is a lot to learn, BUT I am enjoying the challenge - I just need more hours in the day! Woke up far too early for the second day running and couldn't get back to sleep - I want to slep in till ... I had a little of everything, including sparkling wine and stayed within my limits - yay! At least I have no re... Sat, 8 Sep 2012 17:56:25 EST A short week, but week 1 of this school year is over... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5048829 and I've made it. Not only have I started a new job teaching this week, managing 2 other teachers, but I've resumed my exercise regime, which was paused due to the aforementioned wedding last weekend. Once again I did my exercising after getting home, then a shower and we went for a Chinese meal. I chose carefully, had a glass and a half of white wine and was still within my allowances for the day!! Yippee!! We took the bus to get there and walked the mile or so back. Result!! I had been exercising daily for about 3 weeks, making sure to do some every day. Then this weekend it was my fiance's daughter's wedding. On the Saturday we went to lunch at the future in-laws' and stayed in a hotel close to the wedding venue, leaving no time to fit in formal exercise, although I did still walk. On the Sunday, it was the big day, very busy as we had to get to the venue, check in, get changed, again nochance to do a dvd, but we did have a good walk in... I've been following the 28 Day Bootcamp Exercise DVD pretty religiously and doing my utmost to eat sensibly within my targets. That included a week of internet-free eating, which made tracking impossible, but I managed to maintain my momentum with the exercise and gave it my best, it being a holiday abroad and all. I just found the healthy meals that I really enjoy and chose them ab... I got my beloved to take some 'before' photos of me. OK, so I'm not exactly new to SP, but I'm a recurrent starter!! So here they are, for all the SP world to see - front, back and side views of me as I am now.

* The muffin top must go totally, although I do see improvement after a week of exercising

* The shoulders look ok, but OMG, that back view has gotta go!!!

* The fitness gear is new today and will be the proper 'loose fit' s... We had eaten there a few weeks ago and had a wonderful time. Now it was our turn to return the favour.... the menu was with a Polish theme and as follows:

Starter:-

Homebaked olive bread and tomato bread, served with a selection of... Fri, 17 Aug 2012 17:48:54 EST Day 6 of 28 Day Bootcamp and a family day out http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5018444 Still on summer break, so we decided to go out for the day as tourists in our own city. I did my exercise slot, showered, breakfasted, dressed and we ventured out. We went to see 2 Willow Road, a modernist house in Hampstead, designed by East European architect Erno Goldfinger in 1937 and lived in by him with his wife and family till their deaths in the 1980's. What a great family day out. We lunched in Hampstead and had a wander about the village, following on with a visit to the grounds of ... Thu, 16 Aug 2012 17:38:49 EST Lots and lots of walking today - woo hoo! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5016910 Had to go order and collect Sabina's passport today. The office is on the second floor. We had to go up there twice as the photos taken at the post office were unacceptable. We walked up, of course. Then we had to come back after 4 hours to collect the passport. That meant lots of walking in the vicinity, a few stops for drinks, no snacks for me (feeling very pious). I was so pleased to get the passport sorted today as we are going to France again in a week, this time with Sabina, that the th... She has been somewhat melodramatic about the whole situation (i.e. us) for the entire time since he left in November 2009. Now I know that they were married for a long time, but I was NOT the cause of their break-up.

Anyway, we finally met... and it was ok. At first she wanted us to meet with a friend each but I suggest...
