Finished the Komen Race for the Cure 5K this morning in 30:44, which beats my previous best of 30:58. Very happy, a great way to end the summer. :) Sun, 16 Sep 2012 16:32:18 EST Another awesome bike ride Had another great bike ride this morning. I bumped up my route to 28 miles in hopes of making it take a full 2 hours, but I rode so fast that I did it in 1 hour and 54 minutes. 198 Burned about 1200 calories and my average speed was 14.74 mph, WOW! It feels awesome to be able to do that. Love the trails and bike paths around here!! Sat, 1 Sep 2012 15:40:03 EST Did another 5K This time it took a few minutes longer, but it was also at 6pm and it was 78 degrees and humid, and there was a hill that was a LOT bigger than I expected a mile into the course. The biggest factor, though in the longer time I believe it that I gave blood about 3 weeks ago. I have noticed a big difference in my performance after I give blood and it definitely takes awhile to get back to normal. I am still quite satisfied with my results, my main goal was to not stop jogging the entire rac... Sun, 29 Jul 2012 11:54:29 EST My first 5K The 5K race was this morning. It was a pretty cool experience and I will definitely do it again. It is so different running in a group like that, versus running by myself or at the gym. I am proud to say I beat my personal best time by over a minute. I finished 132nd out of about 500 people, and in my age group I was 13th out of 52. I feel pretty dang good today :) Sun, 10 Jun 2012 14:54:21 EST more jogging Well I did some more jogging at the gym yesterday... 6.04 miles in 70 minutes. That is the longest and farthest I've ever gone. 5.2 mph isn't very fast, but I an only 5'1" and my legs are pretty short LOL! It seems kind of weird that it is so much easier to jog outside than it is at the gym, I thought it was supposed to be the other way around? Maybe it's because when I'm outside I'm actually getting somewhere?

My only problem is that I am still having chafing, despite tha... Sat, 12 May 2012 12:00:25 EST i like jogging! I am still amazed that I actually like jogging , and in fact want to jog more... Yesterday instead of going to the gym, I went out for a jog around the neighborhood. I went for an hour straight without stopping, including up a half mile hill that goes up about 125 feet in elevation. Pretty slow pace over all, only 5.2 mph, but I could have kept going if I didn't have to go to work. I am thinking maybe there is a 10k in my near future, I will have to start looking into that. :) Love, love... Thu, 10 May 2012 09:27:25 EST buying clothes I went to a store to get a pair of shorts for work today. It is still so hard to believe that I fit into a size 12! I picked up a 16, and thought "Hmmm, these look pretty small, they'll probably fit, but I'll take a 14 too, just in case." I got in the dressing room, and they were both too big! Went back for a 12 and they fit perfectly. I have to say, it really made my day :) Fri, 4 May 2012 22:43:46 EST Made it to the 150's! So excited I weighed in at 158.8 this morning! I got close a couple of times in the past few years, but never got below the low 160's. I hope the rest of my day is this good! :) Fri, 6 Apr 2012 09:55:19 EST a fitness milestone I am really proud of myself today...I jogged for a whole hour for the first time ever! My previous record was 40 minutes. :) A whole hour and more than 5 miles. I NEVER, EVER thought I would jog at all and look at me now. I love being healthy!!! Sun, 18 May 2008 19:31:40 EST One year SP anniversary! Wow, I've been with Sparkpeople a whole year! I am proud to say that in the last year I have lost 78.4 lbs thanks to SP, and I have a whole new set of healthy habits -- I even eat vegetables now! I have gone from walking to jogging. From Size 22 to 14. From waiting for the elevator to taking the stairs.

THANK YOU SPARKPEOPLE!!! Fri, 8 Feb 2008 01:02:48 EST Happy Belated New Year! Well, I finally have my computer up and running again. December has been a crazy month. In the last year I lost 77 lbs bring me to a total of 120 lbs lost from my highest weight. I also "lost" 190 lbs when I finally became a single woman again! ;) Got a job, got my own apartment, this has been a very productive year.

Happy New Year to everyone and lets hope this year will be even better than last year!!! Fri, 11 Jan 2008 13:02:12 EST Happy Birthday to ME! down to 171.6 this morning! woo hoo! I know I haven't been at this weight since at least 1993. I have been taking it easy on the diet (aka eating whatever I want) since July or so, but I have been keeping up with my exercise. It is nice to see the weight still coming off. It's very slow, but still dropping, and I don't feel deprived by the calorie restrictions anymore. Sat, 13 Oct 2007 12:25:35 EST carnival rides! I went to a picnic at a park on Friday and got to go on that carnival ride I had to get off of last time because I was too big. That was a big turning point for me and one of my goals was to fit on that ride again. It felt so great to not only be able to get up into the seat easily, but the safety bar fit the first time, no pushing, no embarassment, it was awesome. I was by far the oldest person on the ride and I loved every stomach churning second of it! I even went on it a second time... Sun, 22 Jul 2007 12:36:28 EST Thanks everyone! I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has left a comment on my blog and spark page and e-mailed me. It is so nice to be able to come here and see all those positive comments, especially when I'm in a bad mood or feeling down! Wed, 18 Jul 2007 20:32:59 EST Ellipticals rule! I have noticed that my weight loss slows way down when I do less elliptical work and more other cardio exercises, like biking and walking. Everytime I go back to doing mainly the elliptical, the weight just melts off! I was skeptical that it was really burning that many more calories because walking and biking seem like just as much work, but it really IS burning that many more calories and in fact I think it is burning more than SP says even. WOW. So in addition to rededicating myself t... Sun, 24 Jun 2007 16:09:07 EST Ugh I have really been feeling down lately. It has become clear that all the greasy, sugary, calorie packed foods I love so much simply cannot EVER be a part of my diet if I want to be healthy and fit. I've enjoyed a lot of these not-so-healthy foods in the last couple of weeks, continued my normal exercise, and not dropped an OUNCE. Not exactly what I was hoping for. It is definitely going to be a challenge to come to terms with the fact that I will never be able to eat everything I really w... Fri, 22 Jun 2007 22:41:24 EST Halfway there!!! I just realized that I am halfway to my end of year goal! In 4 months I've lost half the weight and I still have 7 months left to meet my goal. WOW!! I can't believe how well this healthy living thing works! ;) I've had a really rough week even, but that's just proof that a few bad days doesn't ruin your whole diet. Sun, 27 May 2007 17:19:27 EST UNDER 200! I am officially under 200 now! I hit 199.6 the other day, and today am 199 even. Under 200 was my short term goal to meet by then end of this month! WOOOO HOOOOOO! I am hoping to get to 175 by the ned of July or sometime in August. It would be so awesome to hit 175 by July 28th becuase that would make it 100 pounds lost in a year. That's a pretty cool number, but may be too ambitious a goal, we'll see! Sat, 12 May 2007 22:26:11 EST 40 pounds gone for good! I am thrilled to be able to say that in my first 90 days I lost 40 lbs! I feel great! Plus I am so close to being under 200 lbs, which is just AWESOME! I swear it is gone for good this time. I WILL NOT EVER gain this weight back! I've done it twice and gained it all back, so third time's the charm! I WILL keep my healthy habits this time, I know all to well what will happen if I don't.

I sing the praises of Sparkpeople to everyone who comments on my weight loss, everyone... Fri, 4 May 2007 11:22:04 EST Memo to self.... Before you try and wipe your sweaty face off, put down the weights in your hand! That is, unless you enjoy giving yourself a fat lip.... Fri, 6 Apr 2007 21:20:44 EST Gave blood today I gave blood today! Woo hoo! I don't get to do it very often since I am usually just below the iron cut off. This was the best time so far. I didn't get dizzy and have to lay down or have a cold cloth in my forehead or anything! All this healthy living must be paying off. :) I brought gatorade and a banana so I didn't even have any of the cookies or koolaid. Giving blood makes me feel so dang happy for some reason. I'm up to 7 pints so far, so one more time and I'll get my gallon pin.... Sat, 31 Mar 2007 01:09:06 EST 1/4 of the way there Today I am at 219 which is 1/4th of the way to my goal! WOO HOO! Fri, 23 Mar 2007 11:44:18 EST NO MORE BUFFETS! I can't seem to get out of those places for less than 1000 calories per meal, dammit. One salad, one plate of food, and one dessert (okay two desserts) seems like it should be okay, but it never is. I can't be doing that to myself. Mon, 12 Mar 2007 11:06:56 EST My first month From Feb 2nd to March 2nd I went from 242 to 227! 15 pounds in my first month is a pretty dang good start. :) I know I can comfortably lose 3 to 4 lbs a week, I've done it a couple times before. It's just both times I completely gave up my good habits, so naturally all the weight came piling back on. Plus I know it will slow down since I won't be burning as many calories when I weigh less, so I'm happy to lose it faster for now. Fri, 2 Mar 2007 14:33:42 EST new scale Dangit, I got a new scale tonight. It's a good one, and it shows me as being 4 pounds higher than I thought I was. Bummer. At least I am still down to my pre-preg weight since the other scale was the same one the whole time. I guess it's not really a good idea to buy the cheapest scale in the store after all. I was always suspicious of the old one because the one at my Dr's always was higher. I kept telling the nurse that her scale was off. Ha!

Oh well, it doesn't change th... Sun, 18 Feb 2007 01:17:38 EST It took 3 years... I stepped on the scale yesterday morning and saw the number 230 for the first time in almost 3 years. That is what I weighed when I got pregnant with my daughter on Feb 22nd, 2004. WOOOOO HOOOOO! I think my highest non-pregnant weight may have been about 275 around a year ago, but I don't know for sure. I didn't visit the scale very often back then. ;) Wed, 14 Feb 2007 11:39:40 EST
