Wed, 27 Nov 2013 11:28:55 EST Back to it! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5194467 I have had a little holiday from tracking. Bit risky but it was only for 2 weeks. Of course Christmas and New Year weeks are probably two of the most dangerous for weight gain in the whole year.

We (my OH and I) tried not to blow it and go overboard. But we have eaten Christmas cake, Christmas pudding, roast potatoes, stuffing, bread sauce, cranberry sauce, fresh cream, mince pies, chocs, cookies and probably more besides. So I was more than a little anxious to get on the scal... Mon, 7 Jan 2013 08:19:46 EST Remembering the really important things http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5110869 A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the ... Wed, 24 Oct 2012 08:00:35 EST OMG! After a lifetime of trying, I think I'm getting the hang of this! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5074215 Could it be that I am actually getting it right this time? I have just been on holiday to Devon, home of cream teas and clotted cream fudge etc., not been on Spark, not tracked my food, had extra treats because - well I was on holiday right? Recipe for disaster I thought and wasn't looking forward to stepping on the scales this morning to assess the damage done. Wonder of wonders only one pound had crept back on in 10 days away.

So I got to thinking - how did this happen, wha... Tue, 25 Sep 2012 10:20:34 EST Disappointed but determined http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5029266 I was really pleased with myself when I hit 15 pounds lost 2 weeks ago and feeling really positive. That weekend I went out for a family birthday meal on the Friday and we had friends round for a meal on the Saturday. But I tracked everything as closely as I could and ate less during the day to stay in calorie range. So when I weighed myself a week later I was stunned to have gained about half a stone!! Not to mention absolutely gutted.

Now in the past that probably would... Fri, 24 Aug 2012 11:57:30 EST Serious proof that change is really happening! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4983043 Our beautiful ginger tom passed away last week. He was almost 20 and had a happy and pampered life. But of course I cried, I'm sad and I miss him.

It just hit me though that I haven't turned to food for comfort this time like I have at every other major stress in my adult life in the past. ( Which is how I put an extra 70 pounds onto my already well-padded frame over the last 10 to 15 years.) Stressed or unhappy I would treat myself to chocolate, cakes or takeaways to feel bet... Mon, 23 Jul 2012 10:55:08 EST 1st ever blog! Changing my life. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4945873 I have never blogged before but I want to really commit to this change - it has to be long term. I'm done with diets - they are for people who just want to lose a few pounds for their holiday bikini or posh evening gown. The rest of us yo-yo dieters need to go through a change of life - for good, forever. Stop using food as a reward, to cheer us up, as entertainment, as a prop. So how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

For bite one I have spent a month and a half ... Thu, 28 Jun 2012 08:58:57 EST
