I should be on the Mackinac Bridge at 10:30. I leave here at 7, drop DD off at the store, stop at three places on my way to Paradise. Fri, 18 Aug 2017 05:31:52 EST Who shrunk my car??? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6401002 I started packing things in my car this morning. I have three styrofoam (Airtight dry-ice types), my cooler(empty until tomorrow morning), camp chair with footrest, binoculars, camera bag, in my car. The huge trash bag filled with Christmas gifts, my pool floatie raft are on the trunk door. Tomorrow morning I will put my largest rolling suitcase, the food tub, my laptop, c-pap machine in it's case, backpack with camera, meds, water bottle, sunscreen, maps, etc and purse, in the car.
DD t... Thu, 17 Aug 2017 14:35:17 EST Wednesday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6400633 It is a nice sunny day here, albeit very humid. I did my last minute errands, so tomorrow is just packing for the trip and checking my lists again. If I was going to a big metro area or even a small town, I would not be so strict about my things, but when I say this place is small, I mean there is no traffic light, just a red/yellow caution light at M-123 and Whitefish Point Road. The one little berg grocery store and all of the restaurants and the one gas station close up at five bells... Wed, 16 Aug 2017 16:16:26 EST Tuesday evening http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6400298 I did a lot of work today! I did four loads of laundry, which is not much for me, but up and down those stairs, hauling baskets, sorting through my closet to purge..I got THAT idea from my dear spark friend Trentdreamer.
I tossed shirts, tried on about a dozen or so and organized them. I also found some old clothes that I wore to work and ditched them.
I brought a few more things upstairs(new policy of always bringing up SOMETHING from that basement), tossed some more paperwork. ... Tue, 15 Aug 2017 19:20:43 EST Sunday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6399458 I did not get much exercise in today because I did not sleep well at all last night. I feel tired today.
Tomorrow I will start doing some laundry and vacuum packing some of my clothes. I have some beverage bottles in the freezer to keep in my cooler until get to the cabin. I also started making bags of ice to add to the cooler foods. Since I batch-cooked some chili and froze it, that will keep things cold too. I always take 99% of all of the food I will prepare at the cabin. Paradis... Sun, 13 Aug 2017 17:35:34 EST Saturday evening http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6399162 I did my exercises this afternoon, hauled two more boxes of things from the basement, mostly college papers to shred. We are to never come upstairs empty-handed, thus making the basement cleanup somewhat less when we begin after my vacation. Every little bit helps.

Tomorrow I will steam clean the carpeting, since the rain will have stopped by then, the temp will be only 79 degrees, so we can open the windows to allow the floor to dry. Sat, 12 Aug 2017 20:49:21 EST Friday evening http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6398762 This morning I rose to get ready to go to get a pedicure. I immediately unplugged my alarm clock! YES!
DD ran errands while I was at home cleaning drawers, purging old shirts. I also brought more things upstairs for my trip to add to my food prep tub., I actually have a disposable Bic grill. All you do is prop the legs on it and light it. I plan on cooking my burgers outdoors on the beach in front of my cabin next weekend. Lake Superior water levels are higher this year, so I wil... Fri, 11 Aug 2017 18:07:50 EST First day of retirement! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6398281 DD and I went for haircuts and I also got a follicle hueing. I made a decision to not get it again for at least six months to see what my natural color looks like. If it is more salt than pepper, I may just leave it Au Natural`. I am starting to embrace the older person that I am now. It is a slow thing to admit, adapt to, and accept.

Tomorrow I am going back for a pedicure. As a diabetic, I need to care for my feet, and they might as well look better than I could care for them.... Thu, 10 Aug 2017 12:48:18 EST Finally retired. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6397999 I signed resignation papers this afternoon and when I got to my workplace, the entire management staff was there with a customized plaque, a cake made of cupcakes, and a large bouquet of flowers! They had the entire staff circle around me and list my accomplishments, pictures and hugs all around. Tearful and joyful. Sad and happy.
I am relieved and kind of in shock. I can unplug my alarm clock for the first time in 54 years!

I brought my pantry tub upstairs to organize ... Wed, 9 Aug 2017 19:06:29 EST Monday evening http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6397186 I called my boss this morning and informed him I will be retiring. He is also a close friend, so he was very patient and sympathetic. I then called the owner's daughter and made an appointment to see her Wednesday afternoon. I have not worked since July 4th, but I have been praying and thinking about this huge decision ever since that day. For the first time in 54 years, I could not envision myself working ever again. If I was married and had two incomes, it would be a different story, but ... Mon, 7 Aug 2017 19:21:07 EST Saturday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6396449 I spent a day at home just putzing around, emptying boxes, organizing things , enjoying a day alone.
I picked DD up from State Park and we stopped at Buddy's on the way home to drop off the key to the coded pad for the gate at his condo park up north. He only has two and is afraid to lose one of them. He cannot make copies to the gate for the condo park, they are specially made for that gate machine. I do have the code to get in, so that is not a problem, but if I go up there and dr... Sat, 5 Aug 2017 20:54:27 EST Friday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6396009 IT is quite a bit cooler here today than yesterday, about 25 degrees cooler and little humidity. We got a quick downpour here this morning right after getting home from running errands.
DD will be helping her dad tomorrow morning, so I will be doing some home exercises and organizing things around the house.
Two weeks from today I will be in Paradise, Michigan at this time, enjoying my cabin on Lake Superior. My lists are made, I just need to bring my supply tub upstairs and vacuu... Fri, 4 Aug 2017 15:58:26 EST Thursday evening http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6395642 I did 700 steps on the elliptical, 25 minutes of various weighted leg lifts, leg band stretches, backwards step-ups at P.T this morning. Cindy used the "cannon" on my legs. That is really painful. It is just a foam roll, but when they roll it on my outer thighs and calves, it is pain from the fibro and the knee problem. I always sweat after that, taking deep breaths and trying to relax.

I saw Dr. Kurdi this afternoon for my last Euflexxa injections. We discussed returning to work... Thu, 3 Aug 2017 18:33:06 EST Tuesday evening http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6394799 It was a busy day here for me. I went to P.T and did non-stop workouts which really got my cardio up! Ryan just kept adding things to my routine, until I was really exhausted.
I dropped DD off at the library beforehand, so picked her up after my workout. On to Walgreen for a few items, then to the credit union. I wish I was able to walk to all of these places, but with no sidewalks it is not possible. All of these businesses are on a state highway(US 23), so very dangerous to walk o... Tue, 1 Aug 2017 19:07:48 EST Monday in MIchigan http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6394284 It is another beautiful day here. We are expecting rain until next Sunday, but we relish these sunny days, even though it is very humid today. I am just doing some general cleaning of things around her, DD is gorilla-gluing a ring on our grill hose for the gas. Apparently she does not know her won strength and turned it so hard that it broke, so some glue should fix it.
I am really trying hard to eat better:Greek yogurt and caprese` salad today for lunch. Green salad with celery and h... Mon, 31 Jul 2017 13:38:34 EST Sunday evening http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6393977 Nothing much going on here today. DD grilled dinner for us and I relaxed. Got some steps in, chair exercises, stretches. Sun, 30 Jul 2017 20:56:56 EST Saturday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6393579 It is another beautiful sunny day here in Michigan. We went to the last day of the library book sale and I only got about five books. DD filled a banana box. Cost:$3. Actually, she spotted a crumpled up dollar bill under a table near my foot just before we left, so the whole box of hardcover books only cost $2.James Patterson, Clive Cussler, Robin Cook, plus an antique soft cover illustrated Wizard of Oz book.
I read Cussler, she reads Patterson, Cook and King.
I did not want to... Sat, 29 Jul 2017 17:34:26 EST Friday evening http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6393381 Running around, doing my exercises,, knees are still painful. Sat, 29 Jul 2017 07:51:43 EST Thursday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6392815 Today I got a real workout at P.T. A different Nustep elliptical, all new exercises and stretches. It is quite along walk just to get to the gym to work out, so I do get a lot of steps in just getting there. I went home and had a small cubed steak and a sliced cucumber for lunch.
I then went to my orthopod appointment for Euflexxa injection #2. There is supposed to be a lot of pressure during injection, but that right knee is just plain painful upon injection. IT was for the fir... Thu, 27 Jul 2017 17:38:59 EST Rainy Wednesday evening http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6392441 Today was a rainy day ALL day. Our trip to Oscoda was rainy and nice. I took pics of my friends Ron, Diana, Debbie and Karen.
Ron worked at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, and is retired.

Di is his wife, they are the friends that I bought my home from.

Debbie is my lif... Wed, 26 Jul 2017 20:34:39 EST Tuesday evening http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6392018 My knees were very sore after yesterday's jaunt in the park. My P.T. session was quite the workout too. Ryan used the "cannon" on me to roll over those tight IT bands on the outside of my thighs. That really hurts.
I continue to do 9 minutes on the Nu-step, maxing out at 116 steps per minute at some points, but the knees and arms were too tired to keep up to that pace for the entire time. Whew!

Tomorrow is my trip to Oscoda to hopefully co out on Cedar Lake on Ron and DI's ... Tue, 25 Jul 2017 20:32:08 EST Monday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6391523 Today was a free day. DD and I decided to just take off from home and stop when we wished to stop. We started out at the workplace so I could drop off some papers and talk to my boss. We then went to the state park and I practiced on the beach to take pics of Lake Huron and everything around me. A couple guys came up to me and we talked,,, they were working to doing Tae-Bo and such and they asked me if I would take some pics of them goofing off on the new floating dock. We then walke... Mon, 24 Jul 2017 16:15:27 EST Sunday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6391025 I did not do much yesterday because of the very high humidity again. The earth's atmosphere is changing so rapidly that the times we could enjoy the outdoors every day are gone.

The humidity used to be in the 20th percentile unless it was actually raining. Now it is rare to be below 50% daily. I am thinking that in my lifetime, people will be prisoners in their homes IF they can afford air conditioning. Fossil fuels will not be able to keep up with the energy needed to keep us ... Sun, 23 Jul 2017 12:43:49 EST Friday evening http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6390319 I finally got the joint checking account closed.
I went outside and practiced with the "new" camera I bought in January. I have not been anyplace to actually use it, so I walked around outside and snapped photos of the big trees that surround our property and the neighbors fence line. In case any of them ever fall on my property, I have proof that they were there and where they were located. I soaked up some rays, got some extra steps in and documented things.
It remains in the ... Fri, 21 Jul 2017 18:06:04 EST Thursday evening http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6389904 Haha!! I did win a weekly drawing, but it was on the second floor. It is a totally separate contest than the Home Depot drawing. I won a little solar thingie that sits on your windowsill that is a bee in a leaf. I actually wanted one, but thought it was silly to spend money on it. My P.T. office lobby has about twenty of them sitting on the counter top and I love to see them.
So, it was kind of a letdown that I did not win the $50 gift card, BUT.. I opened the mail and I won $50 form ... Thu, 20 Jul 2017 18:09:33 EST Wednesday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6389394 We went to run errands, but the library was closed. I wanted to pick up my prize. WE then went to the phone store to get a battery. They do not sell batteries! It is inconceivable to me that a place of business would not capture that revenue. This store was so big and so much empty, wasted floor space that could be used to sell something that everybody eventually needs to operate their phone.
We did go to the battery store and get one with a lifetime warranty.

The humidit... Wed, 19 Jul 2017 12:25:32 EST Tuesday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6389105 I had quite the workout at P.T. today. recumbent, walking, stretches, lifts, resistance bands for legs.
IT is very hot and humid here, so again just putzed around the house cleaning things and hand-washing sweaters.
DD is back home and has some sunburn. She is glad to be back in A/C. Tue, 18 Jul 2017 19:58:30 EST Monday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6388538 I am having a good day today. The library called this morning to inform me that I won a prize in the summer reading program weekly drawing. I think it is a $50 HOme Depot gift card. That is what the reading time entry cards stated when I started the program. The final drawing at the end of the summer is a Chromebook(?).
I also lost another pound. This is now the very lowest my weight has been since 2000.

Ex-hubby called this morning to ask DD if she would come help him... Mon, 17 Jul 2017 12:00:49 EST Rainy Sunday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6388155 It continues to rain today, but we had nothing planned outdoors.
My ex-hubby came to town and took us out to breakfast at a little mom-and-pop place near here. We just had a nice visit and the rest of the day will be picking things up and putting them in boxes to be discarded. I am not going to start really going to town in that basement until tomorrow.
I have banana boxes filled with more books to take to St.Vincent De Paul and sort more things. If I overdo now, I cannot he... Sun, 16 Jul 2017 13:09:45 EST Saturday evening http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6387869 Mike, the B-Dry guy came today to give us the spiel and set up a job for the basement for October. They will also be installing a smart sump-pump with back-up for those pesky power outages we get here so often. I am leaving nothing to chance.
It was so much more inexpensive than I expected.
Now we need to clean that entire basement up, putting what we want to keep, in the middle of the floor, at least a foot away from the wall. I also need to get the drains snaked first to make ... Sat, 15 Jul 2017 20:42:29 EST Friday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6387434 I started P.T. this afternoon with Ryan. He started with the sitting bike, then different stretches. We then went to the back and he applied the electrical stimulation for the pain receptors. It is actually a TENS unit. HE also applied heat during the treatment. I told him I have my sister's old one at home, so he told me to bring it in and he can show me how to use it at home.

I have seven more sessions, but next week is with Cindy, as Ryan is going to Northport all next we... Fri, 14 Jul 2017 15:06:34 EST Thursday morning http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6386838 I did not sleep well last night. I was awake until 1 A.M. I kept waking up so finally after a few hours I just rose for the day.
The humidity has been so high that I dread going outside. Rain and black skies, the humidity has climbed again to the 80th percentile. To some people, this just means frizzy hair. To an asthmatic, this means ragged breathing, gasping for air like a person with a plastic bag over their face.
Tomorrow I will start PT and Saturday B-Dry will be here for... Thu, 13 Jul 2017 08:39:13 EST Tuesday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6386106 Ii got evaluated for PT this morning. She re-adjusted my cane for the other leg, so I am not losing my balance and tilting and limping as I walk. I have a full schedule through the second week of next month. I called my boss and explained my situation. He will wait for me to call him regarding starting up a schedule again
It is not hot outdoors, but the humidity is still very uncomfortable. It went down to 57% today, but my breathing is ragged after being outdoors for five minutes. <... Tue, 11 Jul 2017 14:45:50 EST Monday evening http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6385835 Nothing much going on here today, but tomorrow morning I get evaluated for PT. Mon, 10 Jul 2017 22:34:25 EST Sunday evening http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6385348 Trying to get my knee brace to fit correctly. Nothing special today, but both knees are hurting, I just do things around here regardless. So far, I do not see any birds getting into my gutters. Sun, 9 Jul 2017 20:46:25 EST Saturday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6384856 I called handy Joe a couple days ago because after all of his work on Monday , re-forming the gutter guard and gutter, cleaning out all of those ten nests, DD saw a bird going in and out of the part of gutter that had just a WEE bit more space where it got hit by the trees. It was carrying grass in and out of the gutter. Oh great.
Joe came back an hour or so ago and installed screening across that whole area and cleaned out the huge nest that these little house finches made since Monda... Sat, 8 Jul 2017 13:15:32 EST Friday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6384493 I got the tramadol med filled and took one 21 1/2 hours ago. Nothing happened. I also had DD drive me to the workplace to drop off my work slip from the orthopod.
The knee brace that I got after the doc appointment is either too big or is just the wrong kind. After I walk about fifty feet, it falls down to my ankle. When I got it, I just walked to the car and DD drove, so I went in the house and sat down. This morning I put it back on my leg and by the time I walked to the pharmacy... Fri, 7 Jul 2017 14:08:38 EST Thursday evening http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6384172 I went to the orthopod and had more x-rays and saw Sean, the PAC. HE spent over a half hour with me, twisting and turning my leg this way and that. He did see severe osteoarthritis and said he has never seen anything like this injury. A torn hamstring, calf muscles, strained and pulled IT muscles on both thighs. He ordered a brace fr me, adjusted my quad cane higher, and told me to switch side for use. I have always had it on my right side, since my original pain two years ago was... Thu, 6 Jul 2017 19:17:49 EST Wednesday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6383677 I called the orthopod office today to see if they could squeeze me in, but he is in surgery all day. I have an appointment for tomorrow afternoon. I did get a few hours sleep last night, but was up early due to the pain. I can walk a little better on it with the cane, but to turn it even a fraction of an inch or try to lift it in any way, is sheer agony.
I called PT to cancel my evaluation that is scheduled for tomorrow at the same time of my appointment. I need to wait and see for... Wed, 5 Jul 2017 13:48:43 EST Tuesday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6383259 Handy Joe cleaned all of my gutters yesterday, removing 10 nests from them , using my power washer to clean shingle sediment and other debris from them.

DD cleaned hedge debris after I trimmed the hedges. Today I went back to work after 10 days off, and within an hour I could barely walk or even stand. I had to go home two hours early, with a pain level of at least ten.
I have never had this much pain in my knees or legs,ever... I took a whole tramadol and almost four ho... Tue, 4 Jul 2017 13:45:52 EST Sunday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6382446 IT still continued to rain last night after the fireworks, but today is bright, sunny and in the low 80's. We have a beautiful breeze from Lake Huron, so it makes it nice to work outdoors.

DD and I started in on the yard, first unfurling the pool cover and folding it up into a bundle small enough for the trash guys to take. I tied it up with the wire clothesline that came with it and DD hauled it out to the street.
She mowed the lawns and I trimmed the hedges and grasses ... Sun, 2 Jul 2017 14:44:55 EST Saturday morning http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6381972 The thunderstorm last evening did not start until an hour after the fireworks ended. Tonight is the last and largest display, but again more thunderstorms. We have had ONE day without rain since May.
The humidity is 89% at 8 a.m. I am glad I can use my bands and workout schedule indoors today.
Sat, 1 Jul 2017 09:45:45 EST Friday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6381703 It is another humid, hot day here, the rain is on its' way. We ran errands to the store, gas station and library. I loved getting $1/gal discount! I think $1.16/gal is the cheapest I have paid for gas since the 80's.
I got lots of steps in and will continue doing my exercises inside where it is cool. Fri, 30 Jun 2017 15:39:41 EST Thursday evening http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6381388 I went to the orthopod this afternoon and received injections in each knee. He said I am not quite at the point for a knee replacement. I do need to lose more weight too.

I saw my x-rays: they are really close to bone-on-bone. Too bad I cannot push the fat from my body into that area to cushion it... 39

He also ordered P.T. for me, so I called to make an appointment for an evaluation next week. They will then set up appointments for the actual therapy. ... Thu, 29 Jun 2017 21:21:32 EST Wednesday morning http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6380698 To sunnyhoward: I could open my window to get out if there were not torrential rains outside. We have floods here, gully-washer rain every single day here. I would have to go out in-between these gale-force winds and thunder/lightning/rain storms to do business or go to doc appointments. Unfortunately, the storms occur every few minutes or half hour every single day. Also, if I put the window down, and open the door, I cannot put the window back up,, it automatically stops when the door... Wed, 28 Jun 2017 07:26:02 EST Tuesday morning http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6380272 Well, GOd sends us challenges and ways to solve them. Two days ago I put my car in park at the store, the doors unlocked, BUT my driver-side door would not open. DD got out of the car and opened it from the outside, but that is the only way it will open! What the heck?? Yesterday morning I had an eight o'clock dental appointment, so when I arrived there, I had to climb across part of my foldable console, drag my horribly sore knees across that and under the dashboard to get across the pass... Tue, 27 Jun 2017 07:57:37 EST Monday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6379962 Still raining here, colder(50's and 60's) and liquid basement. Mon, 26 Jun 2017 14:06:31 EST Sunday morning http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6379413 My FBS is 109, which makes me happy.
Today will be more basement bonding with floodwater. Sun, 25 Jun 2017 08:41:17 EST A busy Saturday,, flooded basement and all. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6379165 With the inch-an-hour rain we received over the past three days, our entire basement was under a few inches of water. I have an old Sears steam cleaner and a contractors shop vac, so DD and I spent a long time down there from this morning after our hair cuts, until this afternoon . I estimate about at least five hundred gallons so far today, plus what I worked on yesterday for awhile. I cannot wait to bet B-dry done to my home. I just have to wait until after this ortho appointment nest w...
