I turn my thermostat down to 57 at night or when we are gone for many hours during the day,so ewven with a sheet, two blankets, a quilt and a fleece nightgown, I actually woke up very cold! I have resisted my flannel sheets this long, just trying to see how long I could make it with regular bed linens. Well, I found out. I should have done it a couple weeks ago, since the same thing happened a couple times back then..
I was cold after my surgery for a... Sat, 16 Dec 2017 07:12:39 EST Thursday morning http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6440185 The blowing, drifting snow has kept me indoors, but DD had to go to PT. My car can plow through anything if it is under three feet high, without tearing the exhaust system and/or oil pan off the undercarriage. She just took a running reverse blast through our driveway to get to the street. One of our neighbors owns a muffler business, so has his own plow on his service truck. He usually gives a couple runs up and down the street before he leaves for his work day.
I cannot even look o... He said everything looks great, my implant is working great too.
Today is my last day of using the three eye drops 4X/day. Starting tomorrow there are only two kinds twice a day. After that, one kind once a day. In-between all of that, I will have surgery again next Wednesday. I am trying to hunt and peck on this keyboard, get things done. NOw I have phone calls to make because my heallth insurance stopped paying for some Rx's because they said that Medicare will start January 1, so that is cancelled out for me now! Tue, 12 Dec 2017 09:14:25 EST Monday, snowy Monday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6439365 It is snowing again today,, all day. I am not going outside today. I fear that my depth perception with one eye, balance issues, a cane, and slippery walkway, plus the glaring snow, will just be a recipe for a fall. I cannot risk any infections or injuries now. I have waited 14 years for these surgeries...
Fortuantelly the docotr did my sowrst eye frist, my left one. Mon, 11 Dec 2017 13:11:54 EST I walked outside! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6439095 My big solo trek outside was actually in my driveway, in the snow. It started snowing just before we went outside. DD filled the feeders again in the back yard. I walked to the mailbox by myself! I have to wear those really glamorous surgical sunglasses outside, especially because of the snow glare. It took me quiter awhile to do it because I lifted my feet really high, afraid that I would trip and fall in a crack or depression out near the road.
That was enough for me for a day or so... Three bottles 4X/day. I did not sleep much last night, so will cave in and take a nap today to allevieate the eye-burning. I can barely see this keyboard. My fingers kind of know it. Fri, 8 Dec 2017 12:01:01 EST One day post-op http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6438314 My sirgery was not until almost 2 p.m., so I felt sick before I went in. Because I am not insulin-dependent, they took me last.
Today we got to my appointment early, but they had posted the wrong time for it in their computer, so instead of almost 11 , theyhad my appointment at 7:30. Thu, 7 Dec 2017 16:05:00 EST Early morning http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6437868 I awoke early due to the fact that I really drank a lot of water last night to wash down the mozzarella stick I had before bedtime. It will be about thirteen hours between that cheese and my surgery. Really good planning for a diabetic. Wed, 6 Dec 2017 07:04:27 EST Tuesday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6437699 I finally got "the call" from the pre-op nurse at the hospital. IT took over an hour to update my entire history from day one(my birth). I was told my my eye doc to ask the hospital nurse about what meds to take pre-op. Today, I asked her and she said the doc's office is very specific about that and I should call them.
When I contacted that nurse, she just acted like it was not big deal and just told me the two meds I will take in the morning. Tue, 5 Dec 2017 14:05:27 EST Monday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6437404 We went around getting things done today in the wee hours. I had banking, produce, home depot return product, and some more Rx's.
I found out why I never heard anything from the pre-op nurse. I called them and it turns out that everybody waits until the last minute to get their surgeries done in December, to use up their deductibles for the year. I do not know what insurance they have, but it means that those of us who legitimately need surgery will be waiting. If they do not call m... Mon, 4 Dec 2017 15:11:55 EST Sunday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6437062 Today is a break day. I worked very hard yesterday, so just made calls to some friends I never get to see, and do not want Christmas cards. I hooked a childhood friend up with some grants she can research for her medical care.
]
Tomorrow I will go pick up a few little things for DD Christmas, and start my pre-op eyedrops. Sun, 3 Dec 2017 14:17:51 EST Saturday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6436754 I finally finished writing out all of my Christmas cards last night. I was up early and got my FIVE tubes of blood drawn at 7 a.m. I drove around the corner to the post office and dropped my cards in the drive-up slot and came home, prepped dinner veggies, sorted laundry and had some cereal and milk.
I do not like to leave a stack of cards in the mailbox for the mail carriers; they have enough things to lug in and out of their trucks as it is. IT was a cold, sunny day until that time.
I am taking a break from hand writing letters and cards to be taken to the post office this weekend.
DD and I are just talking about the mechanics of my hospital admission and surgery. My papers for Medicare part B will be in the mailbox tomorrow, sailing off to government-land. This Saturday I will get my lab work done. Tomorrow is paying more bills via the magic plastic card, and getting my pre-op call to the nurse finished. I must have missed it last week. Mon, 27 Nov 2017 13:32:50 EST Winner, winner, turkey dinner! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6434863 I started putting money into a CD at my credit union a few years ago. They have monthly drawings which the members that invest, get one entry for every $25 they put in it each month. I have won a minimum of once every year, sometimes twice, I just won again, making it $100 this year! IT is not a lot of money, but it really beats any interest I would have gotten anyplace else in that category. It is just money I have left from the month before when emergencies did not arise. Sat, 25 Nov 2017 14:19:56 EST Friday afternoon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6434339 We are not doing much today. I had to go pick up my second eye drop Rx. for surgery. I will start both drops on December 4. I also returned the floor drain plugs to Ace hardware. They were slightly too big to screw into the drain. I will go to another store and search for a different style or size. Even though it fit ON the hole, it was not tapered at the bottom to screw into the smaller bottom of the pipe. The voice said his mailbox was full, so I hung up. Five minutes later I got a call from him. I did not know that if you turn your phone off, it will tell others the box is full. He was actually sitting in a deer blind in the rain, watching deer go by that he does not have a permit to shoot.(Does) He will call me this afternoon.
Ah, technology.
