Sun, 13 Apr 2014 15:01:59 EST Day one http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5671240 First day here in years and I am using the coach app - glad to have the motivation! Sun, 13 Apr 2014 15:01:55 EST Just keep doing it right? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4883230 I have been away from the site for 136 days, and have decided that I need to get back on and get moving. I am hoping that someone will read this, relate and give me a connection....I really want to get back to where I was last time I logged on, but I am nervous about that, and not feeling great about stopping before......sigh Tue, 15 May 2012 21:32:58 EST Can't get jogging..... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4560347 Three to four miles a day of walking. I can't run or jog. I lose my breath and then can't move. I hope that the walking will be enough. I missed one day as I did not feel well, but managed six out of seven days. There is a huge amount of self sabotage and I am not sure why when I feel sooooo good when I get moving and follow my diet that I then stop. Even stopping for a couple of days. Ouch. I keep looking at my body and feeling around for muscles everywhere and worrying about it. I... Sun, 30 Oct 2011 20:07:46 EST Thanks everyone! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4549114 Thank you everyone for your encouragement and support. It is true that if I do not get on here every day and track everything that I then get "too busy" and stop logging on. I will make more of an effort to log on each and every day as when I do it makes a difference. Today I walked just over three miles so back on that horse baby....back on! Sun, 23 Oct 2011 11:50:08 EST Encouragement needed http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4548400 Well, work over the past month has sucked the life out of me and my weight has not moved. I am eating bad for me foods again, and my motivation is low these days. On a positive note, I have not had any soda to drink in months, and my water intake is not bad.....help, I am feeling really down! Sat, 22 Oct 2011 22:11:35 EST Insanity http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4472476 The definition of insanity, according to some people is doing the same thing over and over again hoping that the outcome will change when it never does......something like that! I am trying to make the changes I need so that what I do results in change. I am now losing again and figure that means that all the things I am doing are resulting in a different outcome, but boy insanity sometimes looks easier! Ha ha! Walked again today - feeling proud of myself! Mon, 5 Sep 2011 08:04:57 EST After the wedding...... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4465654 Follow up to my body shaper story from yesterday. I got in it ok, had to use the washroom, got out of it ok, took five minutes to get back in to it, ate a lovely meal, drank wine, celebrated the wedding and danced for a solid hour to work off all of the above while having a great time. Did you know that half an hour of disco burns 191 calories or so......I am going to put on the music and just dance by myself this afternoon because not only is it good exercise it is the greatest amount of f... Sun, 4 Sep 2011 11:31:27 EST Hilarious! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4463957 We are going to a wedding tonight and I got a nice black dress. It is lovely, yet there appears to be a nasty rolling effect when I stand in the light - you know, rolls of......well ME! Not attractive so I went to Sears and bought a body control full body control "thing". The salesperson was lovely, patient, understanding and, well, strong......good thing too as it took a looooong time to get this thing over my body. It looked good though, I was able to breathe and it left me wondering wh... Sat, 3 Sep 2011 10:34:20 EST Tracking challenges http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4463280 Okay now I have not been logging on as often as I should because keeping track of everything is sometimes difficult, but I so notice a difference when I do not get on the site. Activity level is up and calories are under control, weight is staying the same.....I shall continue to keep focused and do a bit every day! I had a great start and lost a lot of weight, then everything stalled....now I need to stick to my plan and take it one day at a time. Fri, 2 Sep 2011 21:19:52 EST Here we go again http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4448278 Up at 6:39, took dogs for walk - only 15 minutes, went to work, construction crazy, sat, forgot breakfast so ate a chocolate bar - mini one. Had a coffee, salad for lunch, sat at desk for afternoon, had ham for snack, drank water, listened to complaining clients, commiserated, came home, dog had accident on rug, cleaned it up, making dinner, poached chicken casserole, feet hurt from being in high heels, garbage emptied, phone ringing, people trying to sell stuff......this is your captain cal... Thu, 25 Aug 2011 17:18:42 EST It was great!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4439491 Last night we went out for our anniversary, ordered a bottle of sparkling water, and my meal was fantastic.....and within my calorie allocation (even with a bite or two of cake - we shared a piece and he ate most of it. It felt great to go out and know afterwards that it is doable! Fabulous all around. Got up this morning and went for a three mile jaunt with the dogs when itvwa cool and quiet. All around a great feel good 24 hours! Sun, 21 Aug 2011 08:28:43 EST My anniversay http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4438683 Today is my wedding anniversary and the love of my life (also my husband) is taking me out for dinner. I have eaten throughout the day; however not a lot as I know that there will be a meal out. He is so excited that we are going. He has also ordered an anniversary cake for us. Wowzers. I am a little worried about managing the meal and staying within my calorie range so I did some extra cardio today as well as limited my intake. We shall see how I manage...... Sat, 20 Aug 2011 17:12:50 EST The roller coaster! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4435789 Up and down, up and down, up and down! Amazing how crazy this journey can be. I am feeling better today after walking for the past few days, doing a workout video today and making low fat, low sugar zucchini muffins that are yummy and healthy! I am drinking water and getting lots of sleep. It just goes to show that once off the couch, it pays to stick to the routine. New goals, every day a new day, lots of support and keeping a positive attitude. On another note - fat free plain yogurt ... Thu, 18 Aug 2011 23:33:45 EST I'm back dammit!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4430673 Thank you everyone who responded to my plea for support. I appreciate all your comments. I am determined to keep going. I have been filling a dumpster with the garbage from my home and now I am back to removing my psychic trash as well. I am back on the horse after losing it a bit. I have been walking again and watching my food and just being more active in general. I am determined to keep going and focus on how my body feels versus the scale numbers. I am up five pounds from my best w... Tue, 16 Aug 2011 14:24:18 EST Support needed! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4419270 I am really struggling right now. I have been having a hard time doing everything that I had been doing and I am not feeling great about myself. I managed a three mile walk and sensible eating today so far, however I am craving craving craving bad foods. I have put on weight, it seems to be suddenly, and I am feeling really crummy right now. Help please! Wed, 10 Aug 2011 17:27:47 EST Speedwalking http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4403232 I have enjoyed getting back into my exercise routine after being away and really am enjoying the in between of speed walking. It is great exercise and not hard on my knees at all. I get on the treadmill when it is really hot outside and it feels good. I move further, faster than just working, burn more effectively and do not feel that I am pushing myself beyond what is healthy for my body to do. There is always an option - feels good! Tue, 2 Aug 2011 20:59:29 EST Tough but doable! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4399070 Well, back from a cruise with my elderly mother. It was an interesting week. The ship had a gym so the first day I went to do some time on the treadmill. I learned that it is impossible to run or speed walk on a treadmill while you are on a moving ship. I could not keep my balance, kept having to slow down, etc. I changed to the weights which were a lot better and also focused on crunches etc. I wish that I could report that I went every day to work out but I did not! I did go dancing ... Mon, 1 Aug 2011 08:18:42 EST Back from holidays and back to the group http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4375192 Had a great time being off and visiting people. It is so very hot it is unbelievable! I have been aware of my food intake, but also enjoyed myself. No weight loss and no exercise, however I am back to it now and will get organized now I am home. I will be going with my mom on a cruise for a week and hope that there will be a gym there so I can easily stick with my routine. I am happy that I have maintained my weight loss and have not put on any weight while being away. One thing that hel... Wed, 20 Jul 2011 16:03:24 EST On vacation http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4362398 I am on vacation and relaxing! I am tracking everything but will be more relaxed in my eating for the next few days. It is beautiful, warm, the fish are waiting and there is no work in sight! I am so excited to have some time off - but I shall maintain my awareness. Thu, 14 Jul 2011 12:28:13 EST Great times last night. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4359868 What a great evening! The man of my dreams and I went out for food and drink and it was really great. I ate whatever I wanted, but not too much of anything. I had one drink only, a light beer, and left feeling like I had a treat and did not over do anything. We then went out for a great long walk where I burned off some calories. Today I will follow my eating plans religiously and keep on with my exercise. It felt really wonderful being able to go out and not overdo it at the feeding tr... Wed, 13 Jul 2011 10:02:36 EST Miracle snack food http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4356037 It is a miracle for me! I have discovered popcorn from the microwave that is low calorie and low fat with different flavones. I can eat a whole bowl and its only a few calories! I chew each piece really slowly and drink lots of water at the same time and find that I do not eat a lot of it (even though I could if I wanted to). Yum yum yum. Once again, it js about being aware of what and how you are eating. I feel that I have had a great treat now, and I have had a lot of water. Settling... Mon, 11 Jul 2011 17:29:57 EST Bloated, tired and one pound up. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4353722 Please please please tell me that the weight, bloating and gross feeling is related to hormonal issues. I am still working on my eating even though the cravings are overwhelming today - I did have 4 pieces of a caramilk bar - but am well within my calorie range - I have been drinking water all day and trying to figure out what I need to do next. When it cools down I shall go for a long walk and also do some stair work to kick things up a bit, that is a certainty, however I feel just off tod... Sun, 10 Jul 2011 19:41:28 EST Cleaning the house - part two http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4351301 Ok, so today I really am going to do it. I went for a short walk yesterday and that was it. I have started already, am taking a water break to post this and then right back at it. This site does help keep me accountable which is great. Later this afternoon when it cools down I shall go and do my four miles. Confirmation to follow. It is so hot outside right now...so hot! Sat, 9 Jul 2011 12:46:31 EST Cleaning my house http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4349206 You know it just makes me feel better to clean my house. Before I would just sit on the couch watching television and look around frustrated at the mess, but now I put on some music and get moving. The house looks better, I feel like I have done something useful and active and then I feel better. So my goal for today, as I am not at work, is to go through the place and clean everything from dishes to floors! That it my goal. And as Fridays are not a cardio day for me, all the exercise I ... Fri, 8 Jul 2011 10:54:41 EST A sad day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4347929 My friend's cancer has returned. Growths in her abdomen, liver and on her glands. She beat stage four ovarian cancer only a year ago, and now it is back as an aggressive type. How unfair is that, how bloody unfair! <BR> <BR> I do not feel like doing anything tonight now, except count my blessings. Thu, 7 Jul 2011 19:32:13 EST Death by Carrot Cake http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4345453 Today at a staff lunch and celebration I ate a piece of carrot cake and a coconut mocha frappucino with cream. Afterwards I felt sick, sick, sick. The cake was great, the coffee a treat, the result was an upset stomach. My fault I know! I shall move forward now, drink more water and get some walking in......oooooh, I still do not feel great! Lesson learned - even though I did not blow my calories by eating these things I ruined my feeling of feeling good. Not worth it at all! Yuch! <e... Wed, 6 Jul 2011 17:48:13 EST Ball Busted!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4342675 I changed my strength training routine and started using my inflated exercise ball to do lower body exercises. I thought it would be a piece of cake. It wasn't! I felt sooooo weak. I could not do one set of some of the tasks - but I did laugh a lot at the level of work I was doing just with a ball. My 11 year old son was watching me and he told me that I must be really weak because I could not even lift a ball up with my legs (I was on my belly at the time). It was quite amusing. I a... Tue, 5 Jul 2011 13:45:33 EST What's Up With That!?!? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4341279 Okay, can someone tell me why my calorie intake amount has increased all of a sudden. It says that I should be eating more each day. Don't get me wrong, I know that I can eat more but I am trying to figure out what the program is doing and how it determines that I should eat more. On another note - Today, after the sun began to set we walked for 3.6 miles. It took about an hour with the dogs and it felt good. it is easier and easier to meet my walking goals each day, and people are co... Mon, 4 Jul 2011 21:30:27 EST Cool, cooler, coolest http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4340907 It is so hot right now, that I m not motivated to do anything except lie around. I am getting changed however and will go down to the coolness of the basement and hop on my treadmill so I don't miss my walking time. It is so nice own there that I will not die of heat while being active. Tonight when the sun goes down then I shall walk the dogs, so they do not miss out either. Today I have swollen up like a large bloated beach ball, and am not sure why. I am hoping that exercise will help... Mon, 4 Jul 2011 17:03:26 EST HELP please it is hot baby! Hot! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4337244 What a scorching hot day. I went out walked for two miles and ended up having to carry one dog home as she just splayed out in the shade of a tree and was so done. It is brutally hot and I was so glad that I could stop at a friend's house and get more water mid way. Does anyone have suggestions about how I can walk and carry sufficient water with me. I find that I run out pretty quickly - I usually take either 250 or 500 mls with me, but it is awkward to carry while I am moving. Any idea... Sat, 2 Jul 2011 13:01:21 EST Huge huge day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4336103 I worked my cellulite laden fanny off today, cleaning, carrying, unpacking, putting books on shelves, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, etc. No, I was not moving house, I was helping to move a colleague from one work area to another. It is Canada Day, so everywhere is closed. When she returns to her new workspace - a huge book lined room - all of her stuff will be cleaned up and organized for her so she won't have to do it all. I am her supervisor, she works really hard so I thought I w... Fri, 1 Jul 2011 20:59:57 EST Need a laugh http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4333945 Okay so this is embarrassing yet funny so I thought that I would share it with you. When I walk it takes me a while to warm up and so I tend to start off fairly slow and get faster as I get moving and my joints are creaking less. I often walk with my two dogs who are really quite well behaved. They trot around behind or beside me with no problems at all. So, I put on the music, grabbed their leashes and off I went, sweatband in place, plastic poop bag in my pocket. The walk was great, g... Thu, 30 Jun 2011 21:49:13 EST Happy happy day! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4331468 Well! My son has pulled out some great marks on his exams leading to a pass on all four of his courses. Yay! It was touch and go for sure! I am pleased that he at least made it through. He has now gone to his friend's cottage for ten days of rest and relaxation. Phew! Ten more days or so and I will be able to take some time off too. Can't wait! I also made mashed potatoes with fat free yogurt and water - they were really good and tasted just like regular mashed potatoes, but no fat... Wed, 29 Jun 2011 20:47:47 EST Every day is a new day!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4329351 After a few days of being filled with angst and not following the best choices I am back on the health wagon. I have walked three miles, am heading off to do my strength training and have stayed within my calorie range today. I am planning to burn my final 118 calories for the day with a date with coach Nicole. I am also going to wear a sleeveless top more often as I think, think, think, that my arms are not so big now. Back on the bus baby and not giving up! I raise my glass of water g... Tue, 28 Jun 2011 22:00:58 EST Ouch http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4326388 I have just been diagnosed as having ovarian cysts. They hurt. It seems that there is always something. That and fighting with my teenage son over a stupid exam that he doesn't want to study for. It seems that he doesn't care at all. I do, but that doesn't matter at all. I am so done with everything! Mon, 27 Jun 2011 16:35:55 EST Staff party equals a day off http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4321796 So I hosted our staff party last night. Ate bread, cookies, etc. I thought that iwoukd take the night off from my program as I knew that there would be heaps of food, drink, etc. I did not follow my diet plan, however I remained aware and very sober - two low cal beer - and as much as I gave myself permission to snack I did not go over board. So, now, I have realized that I am just making better choices without thinking about it really. When I went over what I ate last night I realize tha... Sat, 25 Jun 2011 11:29:28 EST A day of sitting means an evening of walking http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4311742 Well I sat in a meeting for seven hours and desperately needed to get out and move afterwards. Went to Kelseys for dinner and had a salad only to discover when I got home that the salad had 50 grams of fat in it - 50, in a spinach salad, holy moly, who knew. I learned today that not all salads are good for you! Yuck! So when I got home my husband and I took the dogs for a fast paced four mile walk. It felt good, I got my heart rate up and I am now drinking lots of water. I lost half a p... Mon, 20 Jun 2011 21:21:20 EST Five miles today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4307509 I did give miles today in two walks. It felt good, but I am still way behind in my weeks goals because this week did not go well. I have to burn another 600 calories tonight if I am going to make my burn goal and I really don't think I can do it. Do you think that matters so very much? I can do a couple of Coach Nicole's videos, but I would have to do five of those that would be almost an hour and probably way too much. I'm thinking that maybe it would be okay to not kill myself and just... Sat, 18 Jun 2011 22:08:37 EST Raspberry pancakes - more berries than batter http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4306732 I posted a great raspberry pancake recipe this morning and then laughed as I realized the recipe went out there with no berries in the directions at all - they are included in the analysis, but if you don't look into the details then.....no berries, no good. So if any of you happen to look up my raspberry pancake recipe add three or four cups of berries and you will get very delicate yet fruit rich pancakes - low fat and yummy. I cram in as many berries as I can so there are mostly berries ... Sat, 18 Jun 2011 12:18:38 EST Lull.....low http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4305937 Hit a stress wall this week and am not making my goals. I am tired and just struggling. Tomorrow I hope to get back up and get going again. Sleep is needed here. Fri, 17 Jun 2011 23:27:47 EST Exhaustion http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4299417 It is 11:30 and I just got home from work. That makes it a 16 hour day. I managed a fifteen minute workout today, walked 7000 steps at work and am done done done done. I just can't see myself doing anything but going to bed. This kind of ruins my walking record.....oh well. Tue, 14 Jun 2011 23:32:02 EST Great walk tonight http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4296964 What a great walk. It poured with rain, I took a shortcut through the woods - not so short, boggy, and muddy - found my way out and around and kept going because it just felt great to keep going. What a great way to end the day. I need to remember that feeling when I am not motivated to move. I feel a bit sore and really relaxed, so walking every day is now back in my routine......I did 3.5 miles, and could have gone for more! Mon, 13 Jun 2011 22:27:14 EST sunburn, stupidity and snacking http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4296341 Hmmmmm. Yesterday in the sun I gardened happily, until I was really tired and then thought I needed to nap. I crashed and discovered that I was burnt to a crisp - chills, headache, etc. I got up to make dinner, did not want to eat, felt ill, and went back to bed. Got up later, had a snack, drank water, did nothing and then slept again. I woke up stiff, sore, still feeling hot and absolutely dehydrated. I have learned, the hard way, that I need to cover up, drink water whenever exhert... Mon, 13 Jun 2011 17:33:51 EST Some is way way better than none....and none is sometimes ok too http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4293048 Happy Sunday morning all! Hopped on the scale for my weekly validation....lost 0.8 of a pound. Thought if I exhaled all my breath and thought thinner, lighter thoughts that maybe a bit more weight would come off - ha ha! Not much loss this week, but I am thrilled to have lost some. I haven't been doing my three to four mile daily walks as I changed my workout routines, and now I am thinking that the walks were really helpful. I am also making more of an effort to get my protein in. Las... Sun, 12 Jun 2011 07:38:44 EST Gardening gear, water, a hose and a trampoline http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4291683 No, the title is not an add for a sex tape......it is a description of my morning and how exercise, fun and getting things done can all go together. Out in the morning with my coffee I warmed up with a little light weeding, moved on to edging and shoveling, raking, staking and hard core weed clearing, hose dragging water lugging and backyard cleaning. Then, oh yes, the trampoline. Parts of my body have never moved up and own like that and jumping on that thing was surprisingly hard work.... Sat, 11 Jun 2011 11:00:23 EST Happy Friday..... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4290657 What a glorious day, it's Friday! My evening of rest and relaxation! I feel weird not working out even though it is my rest day so I think that I might go for a walk at least. Maybe do a ten minute workout. Maybe get on the treadmill. I don't know what to do. It just feels good wanting to do something. I shall now have a light lime beer and relax.....until I hop on the treadmill! Fri, 10 Jun 2011 18:46:39 EST I can do it, no thinking involved http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4286534 Exercise is saving my sanity. After an incredibly brutal couple of days at work it was a relief to get away from the thunderstorms outside and get on my treadmill. I just walked and walked and walked, drank lots of water, and then I felt so much better. It is becoming a huge stress reducer and for that I am really thankful. I think that I need a new job because the stress levels at work and the responsibility is wearing me down. Another month or so and then a vacation I think......includ... Wed, 8 Jun 2011 21:44:51 EST
