Fri, 15 Feb 2013 19:33:30 EST Week 1 Goal & Reward http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5249487 I have been working on planning my meals the day prior and it's been going well! I like having a menu to be able to follow instead of trying to come up with meal plans as the day goes. I reflect in a food journal about how the day went to keep my mind on track. LOVE THIS!!

Switching things up this week with a weekly goal which I will then give myself a reward if I follow through.

Week 1 Goal = KEEP TRACK! Wed, 13 Feb 2013 18:54:46 EST Finding what works for me http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5208934 Am realizing that I have hit this plateau because I am comfortable with my weight at it's current number. I feel better, look better and make better decisions.

I have this goal in my head that I am matching up to others around me that have lost weight but that's not MY number. I want to get FIT and not just simply be going to extremes that are unrealistic for my lifestyle. I LOVE the 17DD but it's just not compatible with my lifestyle to stay on track. I like to hit up the bars an... Tue, 15 Jan 2013 19:51:17 EST Cycle One Day 1 - 17DD http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5179350 So happy that I chose to revert back to the 17DD as it has worked for me a few times over this past year. Don't know what it is about September-December that causes me to be lazy but then when January comes around i am ready to get things back into action! Wierd?!?

My weekend habbits have always been poor however I am making the change with this long weekend to prove that it can be changed! Fri, 28 Dec 2012 22:49:02 EST New Year, 17DD restart! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5176948 I made it through the holidays with only gaining 2lbs!! This is the first year that I have actually paid attention to what was being placed on my plate and chose some better options that helped me tremendously!

After much discussion with my mom and sister who have both lost over 50lbs each I am going to focus on my diet. The strict diet changes last January is what pushed me into weight loss. The 17 Day Diet for me has worked a couple of different times to keep things moving. I am... Wed, 26 Dec 2012 18:33:11 EST Need some suggestions!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5171363 I have been STUCK at 183-185 since August and it's beginning to make me angry! This is week four of being back into a work out routine with no movement on the scale what so ever...while it has been discouraging I am pushing myself each week to stick with my workouts.

I just don't know what to do. It doesn't matter if I eat 1400 calories per day or 2000 a day, no changes. I am not gaining or losing.

Over the past couple of months I have tried low carbs and no carbs, ell... Wed, 19 Dec 2012 19:14:29 EST Almost 1 year with SP! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5163725 I started my journey with SP almost 1 year ago, can't believe it's been that long. While I didn't meet my overall goal, I learned so much about myself, my body and what works best for me. I have gone from 210lbs to 185 since last January after many failed attempts. This is a huge accomplishment for me!

I fell off after August, feeling comfortable with the new me but now ready for a new goal! Working out at least 3 days per week with little walks here and there but the scale won't move!

It's been three months since I saw any movement and I fluctuate 3-4 pounds on the scale normally. Very discouraged and feel like no matter what I do that I can't push past.

I've gotten stuck for about a month or two before but this time I can't figure out how to get past thi... Thu, 1 Nov 2012 19:00:58 EST A better goal http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5037920 Since January I have given myself pounds per month to lose goals. For September, I am going to give myself a cardio goal. I want to get at least 60 minutes per day of cardio with one day a week for rest. I think this is going to be a good goal for me to work on.

The fall weather will help me be able to get outside on the track more and since I have got the dieting on track the two should come together nicely. Thu, 30 Aug 2012 19:59:28 EST Keeping with it http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5010987 Maintaining very well this month. Got my workouts back on schedule and made up a plan that fits my new fall class schedule. Avoided my once a week, off track day for the past two weeks! A goal that has been on my list to do for a while. I think, finally, after 8 months of learning my new life style that it really is sinking in!

I am almost at 30 lbs down! Great results in June/July and I believe I plateaued again this month. However, unlike my past attitude I am going to work out ... Sat, 11 Aug 2012 13:53:29 EST Productive Weekend http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5002058 The past couple of weekend for me have been lazy and slightly depressing. Not this weekend! Got a few things off my to-do list and even getting all my assignments done early with spare time to cook dinner for my mom and get in a couple of work outs. Staying active keeps me in a better mood and feeling refreshed to get so many things done and out of the way!

Here's to a fabulous Sunday! Sun, 5 Aug 2012 14:29:18 EST Busy, Busy, Busy! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5000119 Finishing up my new website this weekend. Selling my art on my own site is going to be an amazing experience! I am really excited to get my name out there and hopefully have the site get some attention and business this year. Next will be my business cards and then going to work on getting a gallery opening as well.

On the weight loss front I am doing great! Fri, 3 Aug 2012 22:25:34 EST Starting Day 1 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4976185 Day 1 of getting back to a consistent exercise routine. I stopped working out after I plateaued in May and decided to refocus my attention to my dieting habits. After 2 months and a strong/healthy diet plan I am ready to start incorporating that daily exercise again. After my 7 month journey I no longer look at food as a craving needing to be satisfied. My fiance joked the other day saying "You only see food in calories." lol! totally true. I really needed to work on how I looked at food and ... Wed, 18 Jul 2012 13:08:58 EST Picking Up some OT http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4970066 Working a couple extra hours this Saturday. It's going to be a hot day here in NE and when I'm done workin I'm hittin up the pool! Great breakfast to start my day of, which normally doesn't happen on a Saturday, feeling great. Going to add some much needed jogging tomorrow evening and Monday evening, feeling a bit sluggish this week and that's when I know I need to get some good work outs in. So ironic! Prior to SP I used to be so tired all the time and not be able to get through a workout. ... Sat, 14 Jul 2012 13:36:18 EST Love Swimming! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4958449 Have been incorporating a lot of swimming into my fitness time. Getting tan and burning calories, can't get much better than that! It's paying off! I love swimming furing summer months and it's such a great way to cool off as well. Sticking to my diet plans, staying away from fast food and high carb meals works very well for me. I am such a happy girl this week! Well I did today! I look back at 6 months and 20lbs later and I am very proud that I made it there because I never thought that I would. However, today I was walking on my break and I thought well my sister has gone from 190-151 in 3 years and I really don't want to take that long to kick things into gear. I am fired up! I want to get into shape more than I have ever wanted anything more in my entire life. I compared it to my job and ho... Tue, 26 Jun 2012 22:47:37 EST Preparing to Restart 17 Day Diet http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4938119 Over the past couple of weeks I have fallen very much off track with my diet plans. I love the 17 Day Diet and it was working until some bad news struck as well as summer plans such as wedding/bachelor parties etc. Going to start off July right with the 17 DD in hand. My best friends wedding is on June 29th and I know that isn't going to be cycle one material. However, I haven't gained the 5lbs I lost the first round and I plan to get right back on the wagon Sunday July 1st.

Excit... Fri, 22 Jun 2012 19:43:10 EST It's HOT Outside! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4933665 Went Walking/Jogging yesterday for 40 minutes and OMG! Was so extremly hot but I made it all the way and went swimming for an hour after that. Felt good to be so active on my day off especially swimming with my fiancee and having him suggest a healthy place to eat :) (Progress with him is very difficult when it comes to eating healthier but we are making baby steps)

After yesterdays success I will be mixing up my workout routines because it's just too hot and dangerous to be out t... Tue, 19 Jun 2012 19:23:04 EST Positive Vibes http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4931890 After the shock of last weeks news me and my fiancee have decided on a date for our wedding! Losing someone so young and so vibrant really pushed us to ask what we were waiting for. We have been engaged for 4 years and are coming up on our 8 year anniversary in September. We waited because when he proposed I was only 19 and we had only been living together for about 6 months. I am now 23 and almost done with my bachelors degree and have grown so much in the past 4 years. We have learned to lo... Mon, 18 Jun 2012 16:20:47 EST Sad News http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4926954 A really awesome friend of mine lost his life today. I found out right before I went into work and it really shocked me. He was just 23 years old and I had known him since middle school. He really was a unique person that accepted everyone he met that kept you smiling when he was near and he will truly be missed.

I wanted to leave work and go get drunk in sadness but I have managed to make the day a positive. He lost his best friend a few years back and I know it really hurt him s... Thu, 14 Jun 2012 21:58:24 EST Day 6 of Cycle 2- 17 Day Diet http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4923779 I love cycle two! I haven't weighed in yet but just in the digestive aspects it's much better than cycle 2. It hasn't really impacted the carbs I intake but I have been keeping a close eye as to not eat the wrong types of whole grains. Bought some carb balance whole grain tortilla's that are packed with 10g fiber in a 6 in tortilla and they are fabulous!

Have been keeping up with staying active now that I have 3 day weekends. Swimming, shopping, walking around summer festivals and... Tue, 12 Jun 2012 19:20:44 EST Retaining Water http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4916634 I hate that bloated water holding feeling. I have been drinking more diet soda and coffee the past few days feeling down about my carb crazy weekend. I am struggling to maintain my healthy eating habbits but each and every day I wake up with the right mind set to stay on track. Keeping up with my 30 minutes a day walks and going to work on my water intake to help shed that uncomfortable water weight.

Trying something new at work. Thu, 7 Jun 2012 17:36:15 EST Day 1 Cycle 2 - 17 Day Diet http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4914641 I took it upon myself to take a few free days this weekend before starting on cycle two. Today I am sticking to high protein from eggs and lean meats while adding some Oatmeal and whole grain bun for my two servings of whole grains. I am excited to be adding in the oatmeal to my diet since the protein only was a bit strict and I LOVE apples with oatmeal!

Apples & Oatmeal Breakfast

1 cup rolled oats
5 peeled, sliced, cored apples
1 tablespoon cinnamon
3... I have been trying to maintain that excellent level of dedication that I had the first 6 days of the 17 DD but it's becoming harder and harder to keep it together. The no carb thing isn't so bad but it's the sugar and diet soda that is really getting to me. I wanted to really take the opportunity to rid my body of processed food but it's much much harder than I thought.

Being a full time student and full time employee I am rushing here and t... Thu, 31 May 2012 11:17:50 EST Day 9 of my 17 Day Diet http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4903366 Can't believe that the first 17 days are almost over! This memorial day weekend proved to be a challenge for me but I did the best that I could and managed to not gain 1lb but lose half a pound! It's not much of a weight loss compared to last week but it's one of the first weekends that I have actually lost something over the past 4 months.

I have worked really hard this past week and will continue to through out my success with the 17 Day Diet and SP. I realize that this journey ... Tue, 29 May 2012 20:45:54 EST Day 5 of 17 Day Diet http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4898063 Another one bites the dust! So far the past 3 days I have managed to lose 1lbs each day! I have been putting in the work to stay focused and reach that goal! My first mini goal of the 17DD is be under 185 by June 5, 2012 which I think will be just within my reach. I weighed in at 192.4 this morning after a great day of foods chosen and an extra long power walk with my Pomeranian Macy (She was soooo tired when we got home she could barely make it up the stairs! lol) I have been walking 30 mint... Fri, 25 May 2012 19:34:18 EST Day 4 - 17 Day Diet http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4895946 Got off work at midnight last night and back in the office at 9am. Woke up at 8 to make sure I had time to make a protein packed breakfast. I usually stop at Burger King or McDonalds to get a breakfast sandwich then not really consume anything else the rest of the day. Not this week! I planned ahead, knew what I was going to make and got up in time to have a 2 eggs scrambled with a turkey brat chopped into it and 5 asparagus on top. I feel the difference of having a healthy balanced breakfast... My first mini goal when I started with SP back in January was to make it down to 189lbs...today I am 193! Only four more lbs to go to reach my first 2 pounds down and OMG I am the happiest girl today!

I purchased some tank tops just three weeks ago for the summer and they are already too big! My sister gave me a bunch of her old shorts that were too big for her but fit me perfectly in April and those are already getting to be too big! Great encourageme... Wed, 23 May 2012 17:36:08 EST Day 2 of 17 Day Diet http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4893707 Went very well. Had a protein packed lunch! Kept me full for most of the day. Went to the Mongolian Grill (I was nervous to stay on track) and had a fresh bowl of broccolli, shrimp, scallops, onions, carrots, water cres, and then a seperate side of chicken as well. It was so yummy and healthy to be out and about for lunch. Really learned that I could make healthier choices when planning to go out and be with friends and loved ones.

Got my walks in for both of my 2 15 minutes break... Lean turkey chili so far 1 fruit/yogurt of the recommended 2 each. Started my day with some green tea and lemon as well as managed to drink all of my daily water intake already (as of 11 PM)

It is a struggle! Planning my first 17 days from May 18, 2012 to June 3, 2012. I have a wedding that I will be attending June 29th and a Pool Party Bachelorette Party on June 23 the week prior. I would love to be able to show off my success of my first 13 pounds lost this year and hopefully 10-15 more before then :) Pulling out that gold and white bikini from a few years ago to put up in my bathroom for motivation. Can't believe it is already the weekend. I am excited for my weigh in tomorrow. I stopped weighing myself every day a few weeks ago. Took some measurements instead and been keeping myself away from the scale until Saturday mornings. I have kept it consistent to weighing right when I wake up, empty stomach after I have gotten plenty of rest and have my 'last chance workout' the night before. This system is really working for me and I couldn't have done it without SP!
<... Fri, 13 Apr 2012 22:29:31 EST Day 36 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4831702 Totally Off track on my 90 day challenge but not by much. I am making the weekends my new fat burning challenges. Since I don't have much time as a busy college student and full time employee during the week I am dedicating long hours in the gym Saturday and Sundays. At least 2 hours of cardio/weight lifting and/or one hour or more of movement like shopping, tennis, painting, cleaning etc.

I am right at 11 lbs down and back from a big gain. Ready for this weeks weigh in to see how... Thu, 12 Apr 2012 10:42:16 EST Day 27 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4819088 Switched up my cardio routine on Friday and going to keep with it for a few weeks. Just by changing the settings on my elliptical trainer I have managed to make progress. It's a harder setting on the elliptical where you aren't going as fast as I was in the manual mode but higher inclines in midrange. So far it's doing a great job of keeping me interested on where it's headed and I like it a lot more than the manual mode I was used to.

I stuck to my goals for the weekend. No drinks... Tue, 3 Apr 2012 19:15:49 EST Day 23 of 90 Day Challenge http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4812825 Working out some kinks in my progress. I hit a wall and am no longer losing. After an 8lb gain I am ready to call it quits. I haven't been very motivated since I stopped progressing but I am trying my best to stop my mind from telling me this will never happen. It's all mind over matter. Learning to readjust my mental thoughts about getting healthier and being fit is the hardest part of all of this. I am working on seriously working on getting my morale back together. Bought a new pilates wor... Fri, 30 Mar 2012 21:19:05 EST Day 21 or 90 Day Challenge http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4809637 Yesterday was a horrible day emotionally for me. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed a took a day off from my challenge and rested up. I'm glad that I did because I feel so much better today. No bloating, fatigue, or bad mood! Today I am starting to do an extra 15 minute walk at work (I normally walk only on my first break) which is an extra 30 minutes of cardio each day in edition to my 40 minutes of elliptical as well. I am pushing down this plateau and hoping to be in the 180's by mid April. ... Wed, 28 Mar 2012 20:57:53 EST Day 19 of 90 Day Challenge http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4806217 Totally lost focus this weekend. Started off the weekend great with a 40 minute cardio session Friday night. Woke up early Saturday and went to the store to get my new high fiber foods to add to the pantry....Then the nice weather got me all relaxed. Kicked back and had a few cold ones with my mom while she grilled a pork loin. That's when my weekend took over with a couple margaritas following.

i was beating myself up all day yesterday and all day today thinking I have blown the ... Mon, 26 Mar 2012 20:21:20 EST Day 17 of 90 Day Challenge http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4801940 Have maintained my 15 minutes of movement for 17 days now!!! I'm looking at more and more ways to surpass that and mix it up each day. Last night was 35 minutes pilates and 15 minutes of walking. However, the stress from my 16 hour work/school day had me stopping for dinner somewhere and I over ate 300 more calories than needed for the day : / I didn't let that get me down! Before SP I would have said "eh, I already ruined my day. Why not skip the workout?" Last night I was bloated feeling fr... Fri, 23 Mar 2012 21:53:24 EST Day 15 of 90 Day Challenge http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4797807 I had a 5 day weekend planned out for the St. Patricks Day Holiday which was a great weekend! I got outside, painted, ate really well except for the 17th and all the green beers but it really got me thinking. This 90 day challenge is a good start but I am already past the point where my goals are in front of me and I have changed in the positive for a permanent change. I am not in stage 3 of my SP program and I just reset my goals. I am not looking to lose 40 lbs and 5 months any longer. I kn... I also did 15 minutes of pilates before I came to work trying to get my legs into better shape for the summer time :)

This warm weather makes me want to wear sandals and flip flops which aren't good for walking on my breaks at work. I think I will try some of those cushioned nike flip flops this summer so I can let my feet breath and be cool (it's like 112 with 75% humidity in Nebaska during the s... Tue, 13 Mar 2012 22:29:40 EST Day 7 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4784763 I got totally side tracked this weekend from blogging but I did manage to do some type of activity for 15 minutes Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I had a busy weekend doing projects and things around my apartment that I wanted/needed to get done. Went and washed my car (manually) on Saturday while the weather was nice. Man I was sweatin up a storm after vaccuming, armol whiping, big huge scrub brushing, and power washing my car. Looked brand new! Then it rained on sunday lol! However, it felt go... Mon, 12 Mar 2012 23:55:07 EST Day 3 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4777885 Getting in my 15 minutes of cardio on my first break at work. We have a wonderful little lake behind my buidling that has a walking trail which I can't wait to walk around (perfect 15 minute walk btw) during my break. Once this weather warms up a little bit more I will add another 15 minute walk on my second break. It's a peacful community and well lit for walking at 10pm. A successfull day three for sure!

Made it out to the grocery store and pet supply store all on my own while c... Thu, 8 Mar 2012 18:01:37 EST Day 2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4776450 15 Minutes are completed for the day. Feeling extremely tired today from the gloomy weather and smashing on some Famouse Daves chicken that was caterred for lunch. Very pround of myself for only eating the protein resisting the carb loaded corn bread and other well known BBQ goodies.

SP is really showing me how to eat for a lifetime and not just fad dieting for the time being. I worked out so hard last night with my C25K and lots of pilates :) Could barely walk afterward. I weighe... Wed, 7 Mar 2012 22:08:27 EST Day 1 of a great idea! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4774376 (Borrowing this idea from another SP member)

I am dedicating at least 15 minutes of exercise a day over the next 90 days (she did 10 minutes for 100 days) to help reach a goal that I have been trailing for the past 6 years. I want to get below 190lbs before the summer which is about 90 days from now. I will dedicate 15 minutes of my day to some type of physical activity wether it be walking, jogging, pilates, weights, or taking my dog outside for an extra lap around our building :)... Tue, 6 Mar 2012 20:01:33 EST Very motivated today! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4764297 I absolutly love reading SP blogs on everyone's success and tribulations. It really helps keep me focused on how hard at times things can be but how great it feels to perservere and push through it. I have completed losing my first 10 lbs and this is where I always get stuck. I lose that first ten pounds, start feeling amazing and then I let lose and gain back. Last week I was hitting that same down feeling of not being able to get past that darned 10 pound mark but logging back into SP tonig... After my first week weigh in I have already lost 3lbs! Only 5 more lbs to go and I am so excited that the scale is moving it's keeping me very motivated. This month is going to set me up to be at weight that I haven't been at for 6 years! 252

Katie Fri, 10 Feb 2012 21:53:42 EST Trader Joes http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4731407 Trader Joes is very new to Omaha, NE and I am going to go check it out. From what I heard it has a very good option for no additive foods which I love! Hoping to pick up all of my fresh produce from there. Going to learn how to blanch and freeze my own veggies since that is SO much cheaper than buying frozen and much better for you. Excited to see what all the fuss is about at TJ's and fun to find a new place to do my shopping. Here's to the weekend!

244

-Kat... Thu, 9 Feb 2012 21:45:43 EST Off to a great start! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4722019 After stress eating last night and going to bed very early feeling so down I made my comeback by waking up early for a workout. We are all snowed in here this Saturday morning so I took it upon myself to say "hey! Today is going to be better than yesterday!" I took Macy outside and took one look at the snow (about 12 inches expected today) and decided to be as productive as I could inside today. 25 minutes of Tae Bo and 30 minutes of toning pilates to start my Saturday morning right.
<...
