PAPA175's SparkPeople Blog PAPA175's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Trail Run and Fitness Well folks, we did it! We went back to Winder, GA this year for the Peace Place trail race and it was such a great time. My beautiful bride made me so proud to see her strength and determination in completing this difficult trail. We stayed together and thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors together also.
We haven't done so much running in a while but we have been doing Crossfit for the last six weeks. The strength that we have gained could be easily seen while we tackled ALL those hills... Sat, 14 Jun 2014 18:43:42 EST Time to vent (yet again) Well, here I sit after realizing that this past month has been tremendously stressful and mostly sedentary. We are still dealing with our 24 year old married daughter who acts like she's 15 on Facebook. Both she and her husband act similarly and both neglect the children to the extent that she and the kids live with my mother in law and he lives with his mother. Neither of them works and it gets worse everyday. My dear wife and I are constantly in the mix by trying to keep the children safe. ... Sun, 2 Feb 2014 20:38:53 EST Getting back on track Greetings! Yesterday was my first day back running/walking! It felt so good to be able to feel the dirt under my Adidas-clad feet! What made it even better was that my running companions were my beautiful and inspirational wife, my precious grandbaby, and our nephew Michael. We had a great time and each of us completed a mile and a half (they were taking it easy for my benefit). They are a good team and each is supported in their own way. I really enjoyed it a lot. After running the baby went... Tue, 28 Jan 2014 06:49:10 EST Getting behind This week started as a work in progress. I actually thought it was getting positive but it seems to have gone south steadily. My relationship with my beautiful wife is great but our concerns over the grandchildren are feeling like lead weights dragging us down to the deepest depths. They live nearby but rent is coming due, the pathetic excuse of a father smokes dope and won't look for a job, and our daughter works for a dollar over minimum wage without a car. This sorry individual she married... Tue, 17 Dec 2013 11:35:46 EST Work Hello again sparkpeople! Today was an exhausting day at work, to say the least. I worked an extra 12-hour shift but not in the warehouse, in the mixing room. We make, store and ship cookies where I work. What a vocation for a man trying to life healthy!
The particular cookie I made was very involved. Six 50 lb bags of a sugar substitute went into each batch. Each bag had to be sifted into a larger receptacle then put into another receptacle in order to be loaded into the mixer. That... Sat, 26 Oct 2013 21:11:37 EST Work out at Work My beloved wife came up with a great idea and I just wanted to share it with my loyal blog readers. She calls it , "Workfit." She sends me a text with a list of a few simple exercises a few times a day (1 after I complete the previous set). It can be done whenever time allows and I have worked it into my daily routine at work. I feel healthier and happier! She is such a blessing to me! Smart, beautiful, and dedicated! What a woman, partner, and wife! Today I managed to do what she sent and ad... Wed, 23 Oct 2013 19:18:32 EST New Way of Doing Things Well, all my readers, it is time for a new blog. My precious wife and I are just starting a new set of diet and exercise plans. It will be different for me because I usually ignore my diet but I want to change that. I am blessed with a wife that will be my partner in this and in the fact that she has a lot of knowledge in this area. I have no excuse but to succeed! I also want to help her achieve her goals as well. There are so many choices to make about food and time. We will be working toge... Mon, 7 Oct 2013 17:51:17 EST Three Things I've Accomplished I'm having some motivational issues and the Spark coach challenge for today was to list 3 accomplishments I have done.

Controlling my anger at work
utilizing spare time for exercise
helping my wife while she does paperwork

Walking and Running with my wife. We cannot go fast or far but we go together.

Wed, 21 Aug 2013 09:33:10 EST A Wonderful Time to enjoy what God has done for me! Well, here I sit resting after work. My beautiful bride and I have have eaten a healthy dinner(Freshetta Harvest Supreme, yum!) showered, and are settled in for the night. We had a wonderful 5K race last week in Winder, Ga which sadly resulted in a lost smartphone. We got a call today from the sheriff's office saying that someone has turned it in! Thus, it is time for a road trip! We are off to Winder tomorrow for the phone and the wonderful trails. I enjoy our time together so very much! We ... Sun, 16 Jun 2013 20:07:17 EST New Blog, New Outlook on Eating Recently I have not seen any weight change at all and realize that I need to do something about my eating. Over indulging may put me further away from my goal if I do not get it under control now. Muscle weighs more than fat and regardless of what the scale says, I want to burn fat. My regular McDonald's habit has to change and even though I work at a cookie factory, it doesn't mean I have to partake of the bounty.

My wife helped me log my food today and I was really surprised to ... Mon, 10 Jun 2013 21:21:51 EST Birthday Run Went to Aiken State Park and hiked with my wife and grand daughter. Sun, 13 Jan 2013 10:06:24 EST Birthday party!!! You'll never guess what I did for my birthday! My wife (she's 41), my grand daughter (she's 4), & me (42 on the 11th) went to the Aiken State Park and we had a great day. We played on the tire swings, ate a great picnic lunch, and went for a great five mile hike. My beautiful wife took the lead for a few minutes but we got a real surprise as our baby took the lead for about two and a half miles! She was running the whole time and gave grandma and papa a run for our money. Did I mention that s... Sun, 13 Jan 2013 09:17:37 EST New Year, New Challenges Well folks, I have finally decided to put somethings on my sparkpage. I have been very remiss with my participation and I hope you will forgive me. There have been a few trials and challenges these past few months and my wife and I have been through the ringer with family, both close and extended. We have managed to continue with exercising to a certain degree but not to the extent with which we desire. My wonderful and beloved wife has completed her first 5K race through this time, that is v... Fri, 4 Jan 2013 05:18:51 EST August Journal, some failure and some success August is almost over and I have hardly been on here. We are use to having our granddaughter here and spending time with her and when she calls she tells us she wants to come home. This has been a trying month for me. They moved away and we hope they will be back soon. The job hours are really akward, but I have managed to add exercise to my work and I have made it a point to get to the gym on my days off and owrkout with my wife. This last week I added the treadmill to my days off and water ... Sun, 26 Aug 2012 00:26:20 EST
