PAMLICO-DAZE's SparkPeople Blog PAMLICO-DAZE's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community A nice surprise Today I was working out at the gym when someone half my age spoke to me. This young woman stopped me while I was lifting weight on the incline bench. She wanted to tell me that she had seen me at the gym over the last few months and wanted to complement me on my consistency and effort. Then she said because of me and my results, she was going to start weight training. She could see over the time how it had worked for me. Wow, what a nice surprise. Someone noticed! In just a few weeks I will b... Wed, 18 Sep 2013 20:39:11 EST Thursday The holiday weekend is almost upon us. Time to relax with friends and family. The challenge for me is the food and drinks that flow during the holidays. I know I need to plan and have healthy options, but gosh sometimes it is just hard. My goal is to stay focused this holiday. Let's see how I do. Thu, 29 Aug 2013 19:40:11 EST Tuesday My what a busy day I had today. It was a wake up to an alarm day to go to work. (this is rare for me since my retirement) But I am enjoying my part time summer job and extra money is always good. My entire day was full with friends and social functions after work and a charity event after that.

The good news is I stayed on track with my food consumption and tracked it all. I made myself a priority and took time to Spark, log in and track. My reward, I got 25 bonus points at lo... Tue, 27 Aug 2013 22:15:01 EST Monday Today, the scale was my friend! After a week of a slow but steady climb, the scale came back down to my all time low. Why? I have no idea. Maybe I will never know. What I do know is I stayed focused, increased my water consumption and kept true to my workout routine. I did add more walking too. Mon, 26 Aug 2013 22:12:40 EST Sunday Day two of my renewed commitment to this journey. The scale has been ticking upward... What to do? I just will continue to track my food, increase my activity and have faith in this process.

Today I walked over 90 minutes and still went to the gym for my strength workout. I can do this.

All my food is logged in. Water has been consumed. I am giving this my all.

Now all I can do is wait and see if all this will turn the scale back. Just hope and pray the scal... Sun, 25 Aug 2013 20:11:25 EST Saturday Today, I will start again and rededicate myself to eating clean and healthy. I will add more cardio work outs this week and keep doing my strength training. We will see if this will help me with the scale next week. Sat, 24 Aug 2013 12:47:56 EST TGIF TGIF ---I am so really for a new week. This week has been full of challenges, company, work, lack of sleep and making time to excerise and Sparking. My week has been fluctuating up a half to one and a half pounds this week. So I work out extra hard and increase my walking and ate right and guess what? Yep, I gained again. Think I am really to kiss this week good bye and start fresh next week. Hope everyone has a great weekend. I know I am ready. Fri, 23 Aug 2013 21:31:51 EST Almost 6 months It was the week of January 13, 2013 that I joined SparkPeople. I initially set my goal to loss 10 pounds.
Today I got on the scale and I am down 11 pounds. Yippee! Now, see I need to lose at least another 10 pounds or maybe 15. With the help and support of SparkPeople, I can do this. Thanks everyone!
Sat, 3 Aug 2013 14:25:50 EST Today's activities Today was hot! So if I was going to walk it had to be early. I am proud to say I did go down to the beach and walk for over 90 minutes. When I got home, I decided to finish applying the oil to seal the hardwood floors. This task is done on my hands and knees applying oil and rubbing it into the flooring and moving furniture. I thought it would take about 30 minutes to do. Was I wrong, it took nearly 4 hours. But it is now done and the floors look incredible.

After all of this cra... Mon, 15 Jul 2013 22:47:46 EST Finally, but! Back in January, I started my SparkPeople journey. It was then I set my goal to loss 10 pounds and to exercise more to become a healthier me. Well today I reached my goal of 10 pounds! Great right? i have reached my exercise goal too. I have made exercise part of my life with walking at least 3 days a week and strength training 3 to 4 times a week. Well it is but I realize I have at least another 10 pounds to go. Perhaps it is best that I did not set my weight loss goal at 20 pounds initia... Sun, 14 Jul 2013 07:44:49 EST 111 days Today is my 111 day of Sparking. I have lost 7 pounds, so far. I would love it if the weight would just fall off but it did not all come to me at one time. I am making small changes in my diet, my exercise and my relationship with food. Food is no longer my crutch. I feel I am beating my emotional eating. SparkPeople and all the support here is amazing and helps me reach my goals. Small steps, little changes can make such a difference. Tue, 7 May 2013 21:19:52 EST So many tragedies in April Why do so many tragedies occur in April? Columbine, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma City, Waco and Boston. Is it the month? Is it a time when people just go a little crazy? Such a sad day, what a sad month. Prayers for Boston and for everyone who was touched by this tragedy. Mon, 15 Apr 2013 22:33:21 EST Lost and found Today, I faced the reality of the scale. The past few weeks I found the pound or two I had lost. What to do? I just kept tracking, kept moving and believed somehow the scale would eventually move. With dread in my heart, and the memory of the flat bread pizza from the night before in my tummy, I faced the scale. Much to my surprise, the pound I had lost and found had vanished and I even lost a little bit more. Sometimes facing our fears is the very best thing we can do. Spark on everyone! Thu, 7 Mar 2013 18:00:26 EST My First Blog It has been about a month and a half since I joined SparkPeople. I think of this weight loss goal as a journey, I had to prepare myself mentally, physically and emotionally for it. Anything worth having is worth fighting for, right? Each day is a step closer to the better, healthier me. Wed, 6 Mar 2013 16:37:54 EST
