ONLY1EMPRESS's SparkPeople Blog ONLY1EMPRESS's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community All is not lost For two months I have not had a chance to exercise. I was inundated with weird shift patterns and moving and all kinds of bureaucracy. It seemed like every time I turned around there was always a problem or complication to sort out. On top of that I was not a big fan of SP in that time so did NADA! With all the stress of what was going on around me, I felt like I was eating Kit Kats by the case. Some days I would eat like 4 of them in one sitting. Then I'd think "*sigh* I was doing SO well!" ... Wed, 8 Jun 2011 16:11:08 EST 3rd shift sux! Been working overnight this week. TOUGH!!! No time to exercise, seems like no time to eat, or when it IS time I have no appetite, and only sleep about 4-5 hours in the day cuz I'm not accustomed to sleeping in the day...

SO looking forward to mornings next week! *YAWN* Thu, 14 Apr 2011 19:58:41 EST The Japanese are SO creative!
I got an email that new Kokeshi bentos are in stock. I am willing myself not to add to the collection but it's a tough one! They also have this cool new mug that looks like a camera lens. WOW! I shudder to think how much shopping I would bring back from Japan when I finally get there!!!

The Mugs

The new bento boxes - Ninja and Geiko

<img src=" Sun, 10 Apr 2011 04:55:57 EST Additions to the cute lunchbox family! I'm going to have to seriously try to ignore what's happening with this line of bento boxes lest I end up with an unmanageable collection! It's hard though because these are SO cute and offer the most amazing portion control. When you get them they look really small but you can get a lot in that is really filling and you don't feel deprived at all. The stocks have been flying off the shelves in Japan and the manufacturer is looking for artisans to design more of them... Help!!! I fear the add... Fri, 18 Feb 2011 06:38:02 EST I'M athletic? No way! WAY!!! That's kinda how it went the other night with the S.O. He's a distance runner, a keen footballer (soccer to the Yanks ;) and has been involved in sports his whole life.

He turned to me and said, "I'm so happy that you're athletic!" Who? ME? I laughed and said, "Yeah right! I'm not really athletic, I only do DVDs!" So he said, "But do you see the KIND of DVDs you do? They're tough! I've run with people who can't do that kind of thing at all. In fact I can barely do some of the thin... Thu, 17 Feb 2011 09:18:55 EST My favourite weight loss quotes Forget all about "A moment on the lips a lifetime on the hips", these are SOOOO much better!

"Stressed spelled backwards is desserts. Coincidence? I think not!" - Author Unknown

"It's hard. It's hard to move that lard." - Wal, Biggest Loser Australia

"The best exercise for your abs is walking. Walking away from the kitchen!" - Chalene Johnson

"Don't dig your grave with your own knife and fork." - English Proverb

"If you wish to grow th... Mon, 14 Feb 2011 16:11:49 EST Ohhh this is going to be tough!!! So for the past couple days I've been perusing my arsenal of DVDs and videos to separate them into categories for the next few weeks of workout...

Yoga/Pilates/Ballet - this bit was easy because those are all quite straightforward. They are all either straight yoga, pilates, ballet or a fusion of the three.

Weight training/Muscle toning - some were quite straightforward like Jari Love and the SWAT workout but then you get some that you're like "Is this weights or cardio?... Fri, 4 Feb 2011 07:58:28 EST It's so hard to say goodbye... (DVD/video reviews) My only way of working out is at home with DVDs/videos. I have over 100 of them from various sources and it's always a challenge for me to add a new one into the rotation because I have SO many favourites! I am addicted to cardio but for the next few weeks I'll be switching up my routine to more weight training and yoga/pilates/ballet type stuff and not so much cardio *sniff* On the one hand I'm excited to be able to try new things, but on the other I'll miss my old friends!

Videos... Thu, 3 Feb 2011 04:46:46 EST The cutest lunch boxes ever!!! My new bento boxes arrived from Japan this morning and I couldn't be more pleased. Makes taking lunch to work even MORE fun!

Bushi, the Samurai
Marie, the French maid Tue, 18 Jan 2011 07:02:19 EST The Latin Vibe I'm definitely feeling the buzz. Back home from visiting my favourite Brazilian restaurant and my system is not used to more than a modicum of fat/salt/sugar so I can feel it all buzzing though my veins right now. I'm not stressed or panicked or feeling guilty or planning to"work it off" tomorrow in a frenzy. I'm feeling like a nice normal in control person who had a nice night out and deserved it. Yay me!!! Fri, 14 Jan 2011 18:06:27 EST Starting over again...and again...and again To some people, starting over means they've failed. To me, every day upon waking is a day with a slate wiped clean. No mistakes made yet is a chance to start over. So I start over. Every meal and every workout is a chance to start over. So what if the day before or the meal before or the workout before you didn't do as well as you could? Start over! I've found that it keeps the fire burning and me focusing on my goals ahead. I don't feel so bad if I break a chain because now I don't have a ch... Thu, 13 Jan 2011 04:12:23 EST The Biggest Loser (in reverse) I am a weight loss show addict - The Biggest Loser, X-Weighted, Thintervention... A new show comes on and I pounce on it. I don't know why. To me it's interesting, and inspirational, and if I can pick up tips here and there then it's useful.

One thing always stands out to me though. Participants seem to have a common thread. I very rarely hear people say "I saw myself getting bigger and bigger and didn't know what to do". What I do hear is a lot of "I woke up one day and I was just... Wed, 12 Jan 2011 02:55:03 EST Questions Questions I've always been an inquisitive person and I've found that what keeps me moving toward my goals is turning that curiosity inwards. The major keys to successfully losing weight and keeping it off are diet and exercise. So I ask myself the following:

Am I hungry? Is this necessary? - Usually about 95% of the time it's not. TONS of calories saved!

Is my form correct? Am I pushing hard enough? Can I do better? - I challenge myself throughout my workouts with these simple que... Tue, 11 Jan 2011 06:31:46 EST
