I think I lost a couple months somewhere. We have been busy doing some reno work on our home and I have not taken the time to get on SP or to keep track of my nutrition or exercises.

I had thought about canceling my SP account and starting all over again, but then figured instead; I would just keep going with this account, but reset some of the things that need to be changed. I have put on weight, so will reset my tracker with the new weight and ne... Sat, 17 Aug 2013 10:56:39 EST He gave his life for our country! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5303334 Today is a very sad day for our little city of DuBois, PA. Today, we laid to rest one of the young Marines who was killed in Nevada. His name was Joshua Martino; he was 19 years old. My own grandson will be 19 in May, and he went to school and graduated last May with Josh. I cannot even imagine losing a child/grandchild at that young age and have been praying for his family and fiance for over a week now. It is a very heartbreaking thing.
The streets of town were crowded with people... Thu, 28 Mar 2013 14:25:25 EST Coming in like a Lion? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5270952 It looks like March is coming in like a lion here in PA. It is a cold 19 degree, snowy morning and looks like it is going to stay that way for a few more days.

I sometimes feel like that "Lion". I start things out ROARING....like exercising, or dieting, or spending more time reading my Bible. We seem to have such good intentions when we start things, but then after awhile, we become that meek "Lamb", and just kind of give up.

Maybe it is just habit; or maybe we get la... Sun, 3 Mar 2013 10:40:53 EST Stepping Forward http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5198730 I have not been participating on Spark People very much in the past few months. It had been a very trying time for me and my family.
I had posted about my brother having a stroke. We went to see him on Dec. 31st. He is at home now and had surgery on his one carotid artery on the 28th. They had to remove over 3 inches of clogged artery and replace it with a synthetic one. His artery was not clogged with placque; it was a large, congealed blot clot. There was a smaller blood clot bel... Wed, 9 Jan 2013 12:09:46 EST Trials http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5144336 I have not been on SP very much for the past week. My brother (age 65) had a stroke last Friday morning. He is a (supposed to be retired) truck driver and was driving a small hot shot truck in Pittsburgh, PA on Friday morning. He got very confused, had a small fender bender, could not remember how to back up the truck, etc. His wife drove him 4 hours to their hometown before taking him to the hospital. The went to hosp. and he was transferred to Erie, PA to a large hospital with lots of ... Fri, 23 Nov 2012 15:03:43 EST Where has the kindness gone? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5124582 This morning, while doing my devotions, I read this and it really hit home. At what point in time did the "higher ups" stop caring? I know there are still some companies who believe this and run their businesses this way...but so many don't anymore. We should all live this way and treat others like this.

Masters, give your bondservants what is just and fair, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven. —Colossians 4:1

Working conditions in England during the 1... Time has a way of moving quickly
And catching you unaware of the passing years.

It seems just yesterday that I was young,
Just married and embarking on my new life with my mate.
And yet in a way, it seems like eons ago,
And I wonder where all the years went.
I know that I lived them all...

And I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams...
But... Fri, 12 Oct 2012 11:39:48 EST How do you like getting old? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5088213
I have been asked how I like getting older. As I've aged, I've become kinder to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend.

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM or sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60 &70's, and if I, at the same time, wi... Fri, 5 Oct 2012 18:05:50 EST The World is Mine http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4967495

Today, upon a bus, I saw a very beautiful woman
And wished I were as beautiful.
When suddenly she rose to leave,
I saw her hobble down the aisle.
She had one leg and wore a crutch.
But as she passed, she passed a smile.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have two legs; the world is mine.

I stopped to buy some candy.
The lad who sold it had such charm.
I talked with him, he seemed so glad.
If I were late, it'd do no harm... Thu, 12 Jul 2012 16:20:41 EST And AGAIN!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4950145 As you know, I was hospitalized on Monday and taken by ambulance to the hospital, had another stent put in and returned home on Tuesday.

On Thursday morning, my DH and I went to the grocery store and while there I noticed a funny tingle inside my lip. I didn't think much about it, except that it came and went and felt like when novacaine is wearing off. Later that evening, I started to feel as though my left arm had gone to sleep. It was also tingling and kind of numb. When DH ... Sun, 1 Jul 2012 11:00:50 EST Here we go again! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4944363 I'm sorry that I have not been responding to any of the team huddles or blogs or anything. Monday morning, I went to the doctor for my regular check up and while there told her of the pains in my chest, arms and neck again. She decided to do an EKG and before she even came into the room to give me the results; I heard her telling the secretaries to call and ambulance to take me to the emergency room immediately. She saw something that was not right on my EKG. The ambulance took me to the ... Tue, 21 Feb 2012 10:28:26 EST I've lost myself in my work http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4718580 Hi everyone,
I am so sorry that I have not been on SP much in the past couple months. I have started working at our city hospital in the Nutrition Department. I was hired to work 16 hours per week, but have worked 32 each week. This month, I am scheduled for 40 hours each week. I really like the job, but it is very hard on me to stand 8 hours per day. I also do a lot of heavy lifting. I plan to retire in May and would like to continue working until that time, but it is really wreak... Wed, 28 Dec 2011 09:45:26 EST The Beauty of Christmas http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4625555 Will The Christ Child Come?

Halfway through December we were doing the regular evening things when there was a knock at the door. We opened it to find a small package with a beautiful ceramic lamb inside. We looked at the calendar and realized that the 12 days of Christmas were beginning!! We waited excitedly for the next night's surprise and only then, with the gift of a matching shepherd, did we realize that the lamb was part of a nativity set.

Each night we grew m... Wed, 14 Dec 2011 14:00:55 EST Giving Thanks http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4604118 Our God is so AWESOME!! Last Tuesday (the day before we left for NC) I got a phone call from our local hospital stating that they are going to hire me again. I was so excited! This position is part-time (which is what I want) 32 hours every 2 weeks. The human resources lady told me that they would let me know if I need to re-take my physical and drug tests and background checks again..as she was not sure if you had to be away from employment with them for a year or six months. Well, it's... Tue, 29 Nov 2011 09:50:56 EST Born again and Feeling Good! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4587494 Last week, I had my stress test after my fiasco in September and it went very well. I reached the level they wanted my heart to go and then it went back to normal in the right amount of time. Yesterday, I had my six (7) week check up with the Cardiologist, and it also went very well. Everything is right where it is supposed to be. I have great blood flow through the stents and my blood pressure and all blood work was SUPER! Today, I had a follow-up visit with my family doctor, and she, t... Wed, 16 Nov 2011 17:50:38 EST Thanking God for life! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4501931 As some of you know, I have not been feeling real well this past week. Have been overly tired, had a few aches and pains and shortness of breath. I blamed it all on stress and turmoil in our lives right now.
Yesterday morning, however, while I was sweeping the kitchen floor, I got winded, but also had a pain in my chest, which radiated to both arms, up to my neck and into my jaw...it was excruciating! I sat down to see if it would ease up, but it didn't...so I went and got my DH out o... Sat, 24 Sep 2011 17:12:46 EST I wonder why? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4475077 Granted, I have not been on SP very much in the past month; due to the fact that I am working more hours plus having a lot of personal things going on in my life. But, I do not get any notices from SP and so today decided to check my "preferences" again...and once again, somehow it has been checked in the box "do not ever send email". I don't know why or how this happens, but it happens quite frequently. I have gone to the help on line, and no one seems to know why it happens either. So, ... Fri, 9 Sep 2011 08:33:09 EST
