Let me tell you, I wouldn't have went tonight without her and now I feel like a million bucks! I missed working out. Tue, 16 Oct 2012 00:37:34 EST Ah... The Gym http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5095448 Last night was the first time I have been to a proper gym in many years and I got to go with my wife! We had a good time and did our 15 minute continuous walk for our virtual 5k training then spent a half hour or so in the weight room. Mostly we just doodled around and had fun. Thu, 11 Oct 2012 15:29:45 EST Making Progress http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5094213 Well I added my wife to my gym account yesterday and we are going to get started today. I also started using the beginner 5k walking trainer so I can do some of the virtual 5k's on here. After losing the first six pounds over my birthday I feel good and motivated for more. With a little help (okay, a lot of help) from the big guy above I am hoping I can get ahead of the game this week! Wed, 10 Oct 2012 15:38:20 EST Wow... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5088110 My Lord, it has been since 2010 since I last blogged on here. I wish I could say I have been having good luck losing weight in the last couple of years, but I can't. Here is to a much better winter so I can be in better shape and get some hiking in next year! God bless! Fri, 5 Oct 2012 16:03:38 EST A good weekend http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3289506 Hello! Well we had a good Memorial Day weekend. I even managed to lose a little weight! We took the kids camping so I had a wonderful assortment of not so healthy camp food... but I kept it in decent moderation and felt great! Last week Kat and I decided to attempt to summit Mt Adams (A little over 13,000 feet) next year on or around the 20th of August. The deadline is set, time to get in shape for it! So far so good:) Tue, 1 Jun 2010 16:24:05 EST Lets go! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3274363 Woohoo! Ok so it seems that Kat and I are back on track finally. Memorial Day weekend will be tough, so we'll see! We are taking Monday's as a non diet day to see if we can keep on track better. We did it before and it worked well:)

Let see... We climbed almost all of Kloochman Rock last Saturday, and I have to say it was a very frightening experience that I don't plan on repeating. There are pics over on my Facebook it anyone wants to take a look (Let me know and I can add yo... Thu, 27 May 2010 15:48:05 EST Holy Moly http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3230512 I forgot how hectic life is with a new baby. We aren't able to track food though we aren't doing to bad being healthy. We are walking quite a bit, the baby has even been on two hikes! Not bad for a one month old. I am trying to get back on track but I am so swamped. I have to try to be good, though, my spark class team starts soon! Fri, 14 May 2010 18:39:08 EST Woohoo http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3179933 Well me and the wife are surviving with the little one! We haven't gotten the diet quite worked out, but it is getting better and better. Exercise is going well, after tomorrows hike we will be over 7 miles of walking/hiking for the week. Not bad for having a kid less than four weeks ago, eh?

In other good news I was picked this week to lead a Sparks Class team here late in May and I am excited about being able to motivate tons of people through it! I hope everyone is doing w... Fri, 30 Apr 2010 16:19:57 EST The Ohgrr is back! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3137426 I don't have a lot of time left on lunch but I wanted to let everyone know I am back! The baby was born on the 7th of April at 5:14 in the evening. Life is getting back to normal now. I only gained about 10 lbs or so in my frantic hiatus to get the baby born and here. My wife and I have officially started back up on the diet plan today. I am sure it will all be coming off pretty fast. In the next week or so I will try to get back caught up on everything so expect to hear more from me! Mon, 19 Apr 2010 16:20:50 EST Oh my lord! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3070016 Life has been nuts lately. I have had my car broken into and out hospital bag stolen. Kat's mucus plug broke today and the birth of Alexandra is imminent. I have had endless diet problems but I think I might have got them under control. I just wanted to stop and say hi to everyone and let yall know things are ok:) Thu, 1 Apr 2010 16:10:54 EST Struggling http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3008096 Well I have been on and off lately. I have definately hit my breaking point on this plateau and I am having more and more trouble motivating myself over it. I have pretty much dropped all of my supps in favor of a much more simple calorie oriented diet. I am hoping that simplicity will aid me in motivation right now. Wish me luck everyone, I need it:D Tue, 16 Mar 2010 18:49:07 EST Thermogenics http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2958690 Well I am on the third day of my first thermogenic. So far it hasn't been too bad. I had a lot of jitters the first day, yesterday was pretty normal and today I have had some flushing. The diuretic properties are working well, though. Down two pounds already. That is a good thing for me since I retain water like no other. I'll drop another blog here in a couple days and see how things are going. Thu, 4 Mar 2010 15:48:12 EST Did ya miss me!? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2949145 I am officially back on Sparks after my week long break and tracking again! I picked up a new type of protein powder from bodybuilding.com. I have to admit the GNC pro performance tastes a little better but this is literally 1/3 the price so it is worth it! I also grabbed a cycle worth of Animal Cuts (Thermogenic/Diuretic) to give me a little boost to push my body fat towards those single digits:) It is a 3 week on/ 1 week off cycle so I will let you know what I think as we go:) I missed... Tue, 2 Mar 2010 15:41:01 EST March! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2944036 Well my supplement order from buildybuilding.com should be here tomorrow, which means that will be my official return day! I am itching to come back, my energy is where it should be and I am ready to own the weights again! I miss you all! See you soon! Mon, 1 Mar 2010 15:46:40 EST Where has the Kurt gone? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2931961 Hey everyone! I just wanted to say that I am still alive. I went to do pushups and could only manage to push up a single rep! It was then I reallized that it was time for a bit of a break to restock and revitalize the body. Everything is going well, so don't you worry! I am not sure if I am going to be back on restriction next week or the week after but it will be no later than that:D Don't miss me too much! I will try and get on and do some social stuff here in the next couple of days... Fri, 26 Feb 2010 16:13:26 EST This work out or that... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2898584 I always have trouble trying to decide what goals I want to shoot for when I work out. On one hand I love bodybuilding, though I have had trouble with it because it is a purely aesthetic sport and being over weight made it hard for me to try and make myself look good. (complicated and a great subject for me next blog!) On the other hand I love to hike and do things outdoors. Pretty much I just want to do it all!

Now, I know I am fairly gifted when it comes to muscle. It goes o... Thu, 18 Feb 2010 16:08:45 EST Abs? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2891592 Well.. not quite yet:) They are starting to make up the overall shape of my stomach though so I am super excited. You can also feel the top pair! I am really excited about it as I am sure you can guess:D

I have been on a fairly strict diet lately though I have given up on 'dieting.' Now I am just eating what I need to be eating for the rest of my life and enjoying it. All of my risk number (at least the ones I can check at home) are way down. Blood Pressure down from 160/10... Wed, 17 Feb 2010 04:05:29 EST Spark Community Team http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2884923 I just joined that Spark Community Team yesterday and I have been shocked with the support I have received! I have to say I am excited to help people with losing as I am closing in my goal weight steadily. I am a big guy, what can I say!

V-Day was great, definitely not a tracked day! I had good Mexican food for lunch with my Sweetie at Antijitos and had a 4 star, $600 dollar meal at my brother's for dinner. What can I say, he should get out of medicine because he is a world c... Mon, 15 Feb 2010 15:32:26 EST Money Woes http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2866557 Oh how fun it is to be broke. I mean really broke. This week has hit us like a brick and there isn't much we can do about it except ride out the storm. Someday I hope everything will be a little more stable. I just hope that I can find a way to afford to keep eating healthily. Right now I am looking at the very real prospect of Top Ramen and Mac n Cheese for a month or two. Wed, 10 Feb 2010 16:05:15 EST Been awhile http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2845622 Hello everyone!

I know it has been some time since I wrote one of these things so I thought I would give you an update on life. In short it is pretty good right now! Kat is managing her gestational diabetes with easy and there are only two more months left until D-Day!

In other news I picked up a used '94 Ford Explorer to get my across Satus Pass and play around in the mountains. I love it!

Lets see... I am down to a size 42 and I am giving away all my 2X... Fri, 5 Feb 2010 16:02:12 EST The Cycle of Life! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2750405 Well I am half way through my current mass gaining cycle. In two weeks I will be cutting my calories back to 2200-2500 for awhile to take off some body fat. In a way I am looking forward to it. I want to get my bodyfat down to around 12% or maybe even 10%. I have no idea where I am now but I would guess 20-22%. I think I will cut weight until I am at about 290-295 then go back up to around 3000 cals a day again and put on some more muscle. It is funny how weight lifters yo yo on purpose... Fri, 15 Jan 2010 16:09:08 EST A night on the town... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2725279 Last night Kat and I went out to listen to my brother's band play the Sport Center. It was a hell of a show! The place was packed and everyone was having a great time. The cool news is that it was the first time I have felt truly sexy in a long, long time. I even had a woman run into me and say "Wow! You are a big guy, I really like big guys!" Then she turned to Kat and was disappointed when she said she was with me. I don't know how many times I would catch someone looking at me, and s... Sun, 10 Jan 2010 19:27:19 EST That little dark place... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2715771 So I lifted last night. It was my last heavy night this week. This time around I was hitting my upper back and chest. The chest went ok. I have no spotter so I am very careful to not push it to the point I am stuck with 140 pounds on my chest:) My back though... Oh my back workout was sweet. I started with One Arm Rows cranking out my last set while yelling it myself and the weights until I scared my roommate! Then it was off for some dumbbell incline presses which went well. After th... Fri, 8 Jan 2010 15:59:53 EST Back at it for the New Year! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2692765 I am sure I speak for many of my fellow dieters when I say, "thank God, the Hollidays are over." I managed to survive fairly well, doing the LCD thing early on helped. I managed to get out of December with only about 4 or 5 extra pounds. I can tell a lot of that is water too, so it will shed pretty fast. My weights are up all around (on the bench, that is hehe) I am feeling strong and healthy. All in all, I am entering 2010 in the best shape of my adult life. I have a lot to be proud o... Mon, 4 Jan 2010 16:15:40 EST Day 9 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2650477 Well it is day 9 of my LCD. I have to admit there were a couple of times so far that I had to look at myself in the mirror and give myself a pep talk to keep eating like this. However, I am still doing well. I hit 294.8 this morning, my lowest weight since... I wish I could remember actually. Probably close to 15 years. I still have a lot of energy, though when I lift I can tell I don't have the glycogen stores to give me the energy that I have when I am eating normal. What has really ... Tue, 22 Dec 2009 14:34:49 EST Off the deep end! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2639485 I had a bad weekend and ended up feeling like crap. I broke Dan's van and I guess that, among other things got me down and I totally over ate. But that isn't what this is about. This is day three of me going off the deep end. I decided Monday that I was going to see if I had the guts to live on 1500 calories a day for 5 weeks. Now for some people that might seem high but considering my basal metabolism is over 3200 it is quite a cut for me! Now before you freak out and tell me how unhea... Thu, 17 Dec 2009 01:50:44 EST A couple of days off the wagon. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2622614 Well, I have been bad for a couple of days, here. I am proud, though, I am having no trouble getting back to it and I really don't feel guilty. That guilt really kept me from doing my best many times before when I would have an off day. Between this being the season of nummy num nums and just being human I think that we all have a day that we don't do well now and then. I am just trying to live healthier, as I always advocate. There is no more dieting in my life. I gave it up when I joi... Wed, 9 Dec 2009 16:26:04 EST I did it! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2618485 Well it might not seem like much for many of you, but today I cancelled my World of Warcraft subscription. Not that long ago I was trying to find a way to balance WoW and working out... I finally just decided that if I had to balance my life around a game, or any other addiction then there was something just plain wrong. Don't worry... I plan to keep gaming! Modern Warfare 2 is going to get some more lovin in the near future! However, for some reason, I can handle my Xbox in moderation wh... Tue, 8 Dec 2009 02:36:20 EST Woohoo? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2605749 Wow! It has been awhile since I last posted a blog. I am afraid Thanksgiving kicked my butt. This was my first year putting on the whole dinner at Dan's house. I was a bit stressed out but it went great! I love cooking so much and I am glad I got the have that experience. I even was invited back for Christmas, hehe! Anyway, the fitness is coming along well. I have started back up on my heavy weights routing that I used to do. Other than being sore I am progressing well. Everything i... Wed, 2 Dec 2009 21:32:55 EST Five Little Things to be Healthier. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2574861 I have been reading some posts and blogs from people that are very concerned because they are having trouble hitting their goals. I can understand, when you put yourself on a rigid diet and it fails for you, even occasionally it can be very frustrating. However, it isn't always about being healthiest, it is about being healthier. I thought I would share one of my tactics for living a more fit lifestyle. I call it 'the five little things plan.' All you do is pick five things in your life,... Thu, 19 Nov 2009 16:21:29 EST Positive Thinking: Beautiful Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2572288 It is one of those winter days, today, where the sky is pure and the color of tourquis. The air is crisp and there is a breeze, albeit cold, that is keeping the smoke from the woodstoves at bay. In a nutshell the day is gorgious. Kat and I went on an almost 2 mile walk up the greenway during lunch. We spent the time talking about fitness and our new baby. All in all it has been a great day! Did you have a great thing happen today? Leave me a comment then go blog about it! Remember, it... Wed, 18 Nov 2009 17:15:05 EST Positive Thinking: Weight http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2569372 Well today marks my lowest weigh in since I started my journey back in February. I hit 296.6 today bringing me down almost 60 lbs from my starting weight at 355. My diet is getting properly balanced out and I am finally getting my sodium levels under control! Today my new weight and the continued weight loss I am enjoying are my positive thoughts! Please comment with your positive thought of the day, if you like and then blog about it to share with other people and keep the good vibes goi... Tue, 17 Nov 2009 16:23:00 EST Positive Thinking http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2564706 Positive' is a word that I have always struggle with. I have been diagnosed and medicate twice for depression and there have been a couple of other times that I could very well have been again. Right now is one of those times. When I went to bed and tried to sleep tonight the first words I spoke to my wife were 'I don't want to go to work tomorrow.' As I lay there fighting off the effects of two No Fear energy drinks that it took me to make the four hour drive to drop my kids off with the... Mon, 16 Nov 2009 03:59:54 EST Goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2563551 So I have been thinking a lot about goals lately. I was on Weight Watchers, and though it has instrumental in me losing the nearly 60 lbs I have lost it just wasn't flexible enough for me. Personally, I absolutely love to lift weights. However, it just wasn't a system that could properly manage the nutrition I needed to work out properly. Originally I looked into this site to help manage nutrition... In the end I canceled my WW account.

So what does that mean about my goals? W... Sun, 15 Nov 2009 17:21:36 EST Getting ready for bed http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2562280 Well I thought I would take a moment to reflect on my day as I am off to bed. My dietary challenges went pretty well today. I almost made my goal of 3 sets of 20 crunches (I ended up with one set of 20 and two sets of 15) Did my back extensions and then had a chance to reward myself with a little Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. I have been trying to decide what I am going to do to reward myself for meeting my calorie and exercise goals and I think kicking back and playing my Xbox, or a li... Sun, 15 Nov 2009 05:10:21 EST Hello all! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2560082 So, this is my first SparkPeople blog entry! I thought I would check the site out after I heard about it reference a couple of times on the internet and My father-in-law is also raving about it. So far I am really impressed with what the Spark team has put together and there is still much more that I haven't had a change to look at. Sat, 14 Nov 2009 02:15:23 EST
