OFFWITHTHEOLD's SparkPeople Blog OFFWITHTHEOLD's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community I'm back I can't believe I haven't been on here for almost 2 years. I did lose about 12 labs this past year, not much but it is better than gaining. I am just over the obese mark for BMI and I hope to be down into the overweight range before Christmas. Would love to hear from anyone who has suggestions to avoid over indulgence during the holidays. Have a great week.
! Sun, 15 Nov 2015 21:19:11 EST Merry Christmas! Wishing eveyone here at SP a Very Merry Christmas. 2013 has been speckled with a mixed
bad of the good and bad.

But the bad has me feeling down in the dumps and rather discouraged. No motivation to persue wt loss, exeicise, or eat healthy whatsoever, so... I am in a bad rut. Although I certainly appreciate those who have offered support here on SP, I must say that I have found this site to have some strong disadvantages. One major disadvantage is when people drop off doing t... Wed, 25 Dec 2013 22:48:48 EST Monday What an awesome day. The sun is shining (it rained all weekend)! Mon, 7 Jan 2013 17:27:59 EST Taking the negative and turning it into positive. Here we stand on the verge of 2013. I weighed myself this moring and although I did gain 4 pounds over the fall, I stayed the same over Christmas.Ya hoo! 2012 threw me some surprising loops, but toward the end of it, I feel very positive about some of the events in my life

A few years back I encountered a bully who targeted me and what she couldn't find wrong with my ability, she made up and fabricated lies about my work. Well the Christmas season is winding down and I must say , we had some unexpected occurances in our family that kept me from totally making a pig of myself eatting over the holidays. I would much rather have laid off the yummies via self control and willpower, but I am glad I didn't go overboard with the eatting as I usually do this time of year.
So how have you being doing over the holidays. have you kept your goals or did you temporarily abandom them? Any new year's resolutions? Would ... Thu, 27 Dec 2012 12:00:51 EST 'tis the season II Everywhere I turn these days , there are irresistable little treats just begging to be devoured! I throw a few back because 1. they are there for the taking 2. they tast soooo good 3. they are readily avaiable. The later is the one that gets me, because if they weren't avaiable, I wouldn't give them a second thought. Its so easy to forget the hundreds of calories hiding in those tasy tidbits!!!

If you , like me, like to grab something that is there for the taking, how about ensurin... Fri, 21 Dec 2012 11:08:48 EST 'tis the season Hi everyone!

Haven't been on here in a while and just wanted to say that my attempts to eat well and lead a healthy balanced lifestyle are just not working out for me right now! Sad but true. So... I feel the need to reflect on what keeps me locked in perpetuating the same pitfalls that keeps me engaged in poor eatting habits, away from being active, and leading an unbalanced lifestyle.

I celebrate Christmas, starting early in Decemember. This is the most challenging mon... Wed, 12 Dec 2012 15:15:19 EST Lookin' Back Ugh! This last week has been a healthy and balanced lifestyle disaster for me. My husband has been away, my hometown is having their annual festivities and celebrations, and work has been very hectic. This has all spelled poor eatting and lack of proper rest for me! Well, now that's over and time to get back on track again.
I'm not going to kick myself when I have a bad week, but I am going to move beyond this week to make better healthy and blanced lifestyle choices. Will update my p... Sun, 5 Aug 2012 12:51:21 EST Thanks my Friend Lori and I have been freinds for nealy 25 years. She has not changed and neither has she gained a pound! Now me, I have gained close to 50lbs over that time. Lori doesn't work out, and now she is finding her endurnace levels are diminished. Lately , I was telling her that I have been working out. I flexed my bicepts and her eyes popped out and she said "Wow , you have muscles". I have been working on my upper body strength for the past year and now it is beginning to pay off. Thanks for the... Wed, 18 Jul 2012 15:09:56 EST Vacation Well, I had a wonderful vacation! I just tracked my activity, h20 intake, and fruit/veggie serving while on vacation. I ate at least 5 servinvgs everyday of friuts/veggies, and did2-3 hours of exercise every day, which was easy b/c I was camping and it was sooooo hot that I spent 2-3 hourss doing water activities like kayaking and swimming. LOVED IT. I also did some walking in the cool of the eveinings. As usual, I made sure to hydrate well, so important in the intense heat! Hope all my SP ar... Tue, 17 Jul 2012 10:28:44 EST Vacation My vacation starts tomorrow! YA HO! I probably won't log in until after vacation, but I am not giving up on my SP goals while on vacation. My plan is to keep up exercise , although it won't be my regular regime. I will continue to drink my eight glasses of H2O/day. When I look back over the last few weeks, I recognize my need to incorporate more fruits and veggies in my diet. So during my vaction, that is what I intend to do. At lease 5 servings /day. I will log my progress at the end of my ... Thu, 5 Jul 2012 15:39:06 EST Can't seem to exercise I have a difficult time trying to exercise on the days I work (12 hour shifts). I get up so early to get to work on time and don't get home until after 8 PM. Getting up earlier is outta the question for me because i tried this once and I just didn't stick with it. I can't exercise in the evening because then I can't get to sleep until the wee hours of the AM if I do. SO I try to compensate for making sure I exercise on my days off. Well right now I am doing a lot of extra shifts at work and t... Mon, 2 Jul 2012 22:11:45 EST Temptation Wow. So far this weekend I have met temptation at every turn. He has become my best friend. He is there for me when I enter the candy isle at the grocery store, when I pass the fast food section of town, when I am trying to avoid empty calories. But he doesn’t show when I am around healthy, low fat, nutritious food. His gentle persuasion intensifies when I try to avoid him. He is there when I need him least. My resolve is on fast fade when I am around him. Oh, how I regret when I give into h... Sat, 30 Jun 2012 21:41:14 EST Question????? On May 23, I took my computer to the store where I bought it for repairs. They assured me it would be sent to the manufacturer to be repaired, since it is still under their warranty. Well 5 weeks later, the store informed me the manufacturer returned the computer, unrepaired. SO, I called the company and was informed that the store never sent then the computer! Anyone ever had an experience like this? What would you do?
39 Fri, 29 Jun 2012 14:42:14 EST Rainy Dayz and H20 Wow . It has not just been raining for the past several days, it has been downpouring! Before it began to rain, my lawn looked so thirsty. It wasn't growing. It wasn't pretty. It looked lethargic! Now, after it has been drinking in the moisture for the past few days, it is a lush dark green and robust. I will need to be mowing it the minute things dry up.
Makes me wonder about our bodies when we don't get enough water. Our skin reacts a bit like the lawn without rain. We look thirsty, o... Wed, 27 Jun 2012 12:48:59 EST For You Today I spoke with an individual who has had a very difficult past few years. When I am in the presence of this individual, I feel good about myself because she is just so special, encouraging, helpful, thankful, respectful. I wonder how she can go through what she has and yet make it a priority to be so caring, so giving. Her spirit is an inspiration. Although I know her spirit has been wounded, it has not been broken. I just want to say to any SP out there who are going through a rough tim... Mon, 25 Jun 2012 22:23:36 EST Today is Me Day Journal #4:
Well this is Sunday, and I don’t feel like doing much. I have a busy week ahead and so I have decided to take a day for me, not do anything that doesn’t have to be done. Sometimes life gets so busy and it is difficult to take time to relax, recharge those batteries. It has been those busy, busy days when I make unhealthy food choices. Grab a quick “meal” at a fast food restaurant, I crave and ingest high fat, high calorie, no nutrition snacks. My attitude also suffers when ... Sun, 24 Jun 2012 13:15:01 EST Gains Outweigh No Loss

Well I have gotten through Week 1. Yaaahhh! SO I stepped on the scales this AM and much to my surprise, I didn’t lose anything. Not even a pound! But I did gain…260 fitness minutes, I am journaling, (which is great because it helps me express my progress and I love to write, very therapeutic), and I have increased my energy level.
So where did I go wrong with no poundage lost? Well, there were a couple of days this week when I had seconds with my meal, I had 3 high, ... Thu, 21 Jun 2012 12:38:52 EST Breaking the Not So Merry- Go-Round Ok, so for me dieting has been like riding a Merry -Go- Round. Oh yeah, it can be fun. You get on the horse and it begins. Down goes the weight; up goes the weight, down, up, down, up… Sooner or later I realize that I’m not getting anywhere, just going round and round in circles. This is what I consider the ‘not so Merry –GO- Round’. Well, now I’m looking to get off the Merry -Go- Round. But no, getting off implies I can easily get back on the thing, and continue to go in circles. No this t... Tue, 19 Jun 2012 22:32:47 EST Journal Entry #1 "Round and Round the Same Five Pounds" “Round and Round the Same Five Pounds”
Part of my goals for SparkPeople (SP) is to journal 3 days a week. SO here goes my first entry. I would like to thank a SP friend ,JMCCAY, who inspired my to write this reflection. Best of luck to you and all SP everywhere who know what it’s like to battle the same five pounds.
In some way or another, I have been battling my weight all my life. When I was a teenager, I frequently took up with some loser diet. Yea, I would loose weight while en... Sat, 16 Jun 2012 18:34:33 EST Girls night out! Yeah! Its Friday and time for a night out with girls. Well kick it off with some food and then an outdoor activilty. Now to be strong and not overdue the eatting out part. Well the good news is that I don't eat out very often. Maybe once every 2 weeks so I want to be sensible without compromising on a tasty meal. I never eat fried food because they are so high in empty calories.
Anyone have any suggestions on how make sensible yet tasty food choices when eatting out. Would appreciate ...
