NONIHANCOCK's SparkPeople Blog NONIHANCOCK's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Don't leave behind I learned one simple thing this week, DON'T LEAVE CALORIES OFF YOUR DIET! I left calories for about 6 days this past week and didn't loose but gained 4 oz, That isn't a lot but it let me know that leaving calories is not a good thing. Your body stores what you don't eat and therefore I didn't loose anything but gained. I have also learned it is better to eat a little more each day than leave calories behind. Believe me, I have learned a hard lesson! Thu, 4 Sep 2014 10:42:05 EST Bonus Spins What has happened to our Bonus Spins? I was in the process of getting mine yesterday when all of a sudden then disappeared and now I can't find them. Did they take them away? Have they hidden them an I just can't find them. I really liked the Bonus Spins. Wed, 13 Aug 2014 09:35:42 EST Getting disappointed I am getting disappointed I am not loosing weight. Lost 2 oz. this past week and have been on a 1200 calorie diet for over a year. I don't know if my body is gotten used to my calorie count and I should go up to more calories a day. I am really disappointed that there is not a counselor we can physically talk with. I know talking with people who are going thru what I am going thru will help me, but sometimes you just want to talk with a live person on the phone.

Maybe I shoul... Thu, 17 Jul 2014 10:44:29 EST Food, food, food Tomorrow is God and Country at our church. It is really a nice service followed by pot luck. There is so much food to choose from and so many deserts. I discussed this with my husband and we are forgoing the pot luck for fish at home. I can control the calories I eat and bypass the DESSERT table! Sat, 5 Jul 2014 12:03:43 EST Deadlines Why do we impose so many deadlines in our lives? We have for getting dinner ready, getting the kids into bed and so forth. Why do we impose on for weight loss?

I have been trying for over a year to loose 12 pounds. Sounds simple doesn't it? Not for me. I have had so many goal dates I just don't set one any more. To me it isn't about the length of time I lose the weight, but what I learn along the way.

I have been down to a loss of 10 pounds only to have surgery and... Sat, 8 Mar 2014 09:06:44 EST I shocked my system into gaining 2 pounds. I went from 1200 calories a day to 1300 calories a day as I was in a plateau. I do believe I went down in inches, I am not one to measure, but gaining 2 pounds really set my mindset back. I am going back to 1200 calories a day and sticking with that until I reach my goal. I have been sick this week and that may have added something to my gaining weight. I have tracked my food faithfully, but something is amiss. I am not giving up, it may take longer to reach my go... Fri, 24 Jan 2014 08:50:05 EST It's been one year It's been one year on 1200 calories and I am 3 pounds from my goal. Have been loosing, but not very fast. I have decided to up my calories to 1300 per day and see if I can trick my metabolism into acting a little faster to help me loose these last 3 pounds. I have enjoyed my journey on SparkPeople and believe they are helping me make wise and safe decisions in my eating. I feel I can do this and maintain with tracking each day. Any suggestions are appreciated. Sat, 18 Jan 2014 12:00:16 EST A New Year This new year brings more opportunity to loose weight. Will hopefully get off my plateau and begin to loose these last three pounds. It has been a long journey with a break for surgery in April, but will continue to track my food and continue until these last three pounds are gone. I am not loosing for anyone but myself and the journey has been a good one. Keep rooting for me and I will succeed. Wed, 1 Jan 2014 09:16:58 EST No loss, no gain I haven't lost in the past two weeks, but I haven't gained either. Guess with this holiday season I will enjoy the "plateau" and not worry until the first of the year. There are just toooooo many good things to enjoy this season, and if I don't have a bite or two I will eventually eat the whole bowl! Thu, 19 Dec 2013 09:04:14 EST Bonus Spins Does anyone know if the bonus spins carry over to the next day if you don't get to use them? My computer messed up yesterday, but I finally got to use the spins. Love the extra spins!!! Tue, 26 Nov 2013 10:30:27 EST I've Plateaued I think I have plateaued with only 3 pounds to go. I go up and down about 6 oz. and just can't seem to get past that hump. I eat the lower end of my calorie allowance as I am a very sedentary person due to health issues. Any suggestions from those who have 'been there, done that'! Fri, 27 Sep 2013 12:22:08 EST High or low end of calorie counter I am a sedentary person so I eat the low end of the calorie counter, but I am wondering if I am starving my body by doing this. Any helpful advise? Sat, 10 Aug 2013 13:52:02 EST Monday - Restart Date On April 3rd I had knee surgery and was unable to put weight on my leg for almost four weeks. I have now put the walker away and on a cane to get around. I am in therapy three times a weeks and have decided Monday is my restart date. I will weigh myself and get back on track with my good eating habits. While unable to stand, I was unable to cook healthy meals. We had the church feed us for a little over a week and we have eaten out the past 10 day to forgo hiring someone to come in and c... Fri, 17 May 2013 15:53:41 EST I hit a HUGH bump On April 3rd I had knee surgery and I am just now feeling like getting back on the computer. I was not able to follow my 'good' eating habits after surgery as I was unable to cook. We had food brought in by the church and then we had to hire someone to come and cook for us. As I did try to get correctly, it was difficult. Now that I am cooking, it is easier to follow the correct guide lines, but I find it difficult to get on the computer and log my entries. I am trying mentally to count ... Tue, 30 Apr 2013 10:42:42 EST Which one to choose? With so many entries out there for selection of chicken thigh and leg, which one do you choose? Each one has a different caloric count. Wish SP would publish a list of what they choose as the correct caloric count. Any suggestions to help me? Wed, 6 Mar 2013 10:48:18 EST Quinoa I discovered Quinoa today. It is a very flavorful grain. Though high in calories I enjoyed my 1/4 cup with my chicken today. Looking forward to tonight's meal when I can have more. My husband and I talked about making this into a salad. Any ideals out there?? Thu, 31 Jan 2013 14:23:51 EST Need Veggie Recipes I need some veggie recipes. My husband doesn't like squash, zucchini, or eggplant which doesn't leave me a lot of choices. Any help is appreciated. Wed, 30 Jan 2013 11:30:54 EST Blueberry Flaxseed Muffins Made the blueberry flaxseed muffins this week from the SP cookbook. (IF you don't have one you really should invest in one.) They are very good and moist. I am not a fan of fresh blueberries, but I do like them when cooked in muffins. I eat two of these each morning with my coffee and it holds me until lunch time. Try them. Very Good. 244 Mon, 28 Jan 2013 14:44:11 EST SP cookbook I just love, love the SP cookbook. Had it one week and made 3 recipes and have 3 tagged for this week to make. Made Stepfanie's Oatmeal Mix and it was wonderful, my husband even liked it! Thanks for all who contributed to this wonderful book. I have lots of cookbooks, but this is by far my favorite. Fri, 25 Jan 2013 14:11:22 EST Slow cooker lasagna I made slow cooker lasagna from the SP cookbook yesterday. It was DE-LISH! My husband liked it and didn't even notice the eggplant in it. I had a piece of garlic cheese toast along with the lasagna and didn't feel like I was eating on a diet. This has been a life saver to me finding SP on the web. I have learned I was depriving my body of much needed food and fuel and the plan that starts with an "A". Never going back there. Wish me luck. I weight again on Friday and will see what I h... Wed, 23 Jan 2013 11:38:41 EST Oatmeal mix I made Stepfanie's Oatmeal mix yesterday and had it for breakfast this. Really good and filling. The only thing I would change is the amount of cinnamon. For sensitive stomachs I recommend using 2 tbsp instead of 3. I sure will next time I make it. Really easy to make. Sat, 19 Jan 2013 10:40:28 EST First and 3 My first week (started Monday) and I am down 3 -COUNT THEM 3- pounds! I am so excited. Do you have to use only the items they have in their data base? I am having trouble finding what I eat in their data base and if I could free hand my selections it would be very helpful. Now I am entering my selections in microsoft spread sheet. HELP Mon, 14 Jan 2013 14:27:38 EST First day of rest of my life Just tracked my breakfast for the first time. Had trouble getting everything I ate in the tracker, but with adjustments of other items it worked out about the same. I have gained since I first started this web site and up-ed my weight to accommodate. Seeing that in print really makes you want to get a-hold of yourself and get the weight off. I really like this web site a lot better than the one that starts with an "A". Was on in for over a year and finally gained back all the weight I lo... Mon, 14 Jan 2013 09:42:07 EST Recipe calculator I just love the recipe calculator. I made something today and took it to the calculator and was surprised to find the calories were not as much as I expected. I think I have been starving my body trying to loose some weight. Can't wait to start my new life style tomorrow. Sun, 13 Jan 2013 12:03:41 EST Not quite ready! Well, I am not as ready for tomorrow as I thought I was. I don't have everything I need in order to accomplish my goal this week. I will use what I have this week and do my best to stay within the requirements of my eating plan. I don't like white meat and I will have to alter the recipes to accommodate the dark meat. I have been so encouraged by the posts I have received on my blogs. Thanks to all who have added strength for me to continue. Sun, 13 Jan 2013 10:47:29 EST Getting ready for Monday Monday is my start day and I have a pot of Meg's Beef Stew on the stove simmering for Monday lunch. Can't wait. Don't know what my husband will say as it doesn't have any potatoes in it. lol I don't care for the potatoes so it wont matter to me. Why am I waiting until Monday some of you may ask, I am having lunch at the church and I want some DESERT! I do have a question, is yogurt a good choice for a snack and how about popcorn if you can find a 100 calorie bag? Wish me luck. Thanks an... Sat, 12 Jan 2013 12:07:12 EST Going grocery shopping Today is the day I go to the grocery store with my long list of items I will need to make the recipes I have elected to make my first week on SP.
