NOLEGIRL87's SparkPeople Blog NOLEGIRL87's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community 5k Here I Come! The first actual race is tomorrow, and I have now run a full 5k distance 3 times, twice out on the open in hills. All things going as planned, I should be just fine. YAY!!!

Now the weather and my calves just have to cooperate. My calves are steadily getting tighter, and the weather is threatening to snow the day before. Stretching multiple times every day this week, and hoping that it's only a little snow. Then I can just bring the shoes for the snow just in case.

Then... Wed, 29 Jan 2014 20:06:17 EST Oh Hello Again So, my phone died.

Which meant no more tracker. Which meant no more tracking, unless I actually made it on the computer. And that didn't happen except for homework. Not to mention since it was the last semester, I ate crap. Oh, and we've been eating crap at the house, that's reason number two. It's been terrible, food wise. So I'm at a steady 155 again. Not horrible, but five pounds over healthy for my body weight, and back up from my goal. Not okay.

The ups are, still d... Fri, 3 Jan 2014 22:42:34 EST Ooops Well, I've been forgetting about this logging and tracking and blogging a bit lately. Admittedly it's been a little bit of slacking in all areas, but not a total bust.

I've gone back up to somewhere between 150 and 155. Can't say for sure where because the scale keeps fluctuating and I never get on it at the same time. Either way, not too terrible of a gain back, but still not a habit I want to continue.

The one thing I have still done is continue the running. I've made... Fri, 6 Sep 2013 11:35:17 EST Ups and Downs It's been a while.

The Up is that I've been doing good with the running, and at least mostly stable on the weight for the most part still. Oh, and guy I was dating is now my boyfriend, that was definitely a perk. We've been enjoying each other, and it's nice that someone finds me attractive enough to be as affectionate as he is.

The down is my hips were being weird the last two weeks, as in my hip joints were hurting and my lower back therefore hurting. I now have yoga ... Thu, 25 Jul 2013 22:41:21 EST Getting Better at It Well, there wasn't much tracking or exercise this week, at least not in the gym. I'll probably end up in the elliptical the next two days just to actually do that, since I didn't really do much else with work picking up extra hours this week.

I was a bit more mindful of what I ate, and actually managed to track most of a couple of days. I find it more important that I was actually thinking about it though, rather than the putting it in. Especially since otherwise the only favor I'... Fri, 5 Jul 2013 09:36:44 EST Tracking Fail Week I mean, I didn't track anything I ate, and I even forgot to track my workouts today. I may go back and put those in for this week, mostly because I feel bad about it. I enjoyed my workouts this week. Boot camp has been going good so far with my gym, we'll see what the results say on Monday or Tuesday though.

So the goal this week is to try and actually track something past breakfast, that way I'm less likely to forget about it. Then we'll see how horrible I'm eating. I do need to g... Sat, 29 Jun 2013 22:37:46 EST Things I've Discovered While Running Haven't been tracking my food this week, because it's that week again(I was going to skip this month and decided not to) and I don't see the point in reminding myself I'm eating horribly. I know it happens, I eat crap for a few days, and I work out like crazy to help balance the junk. I did drink a great deal more water this time, and that was helpful. Other than that, I did a good deal more workouts, including a new workout at our gym called R.I.P.P.E.D. for the Biggest Loser challenge going... Fri, 21 Jun 2013 19:32:58 EST Good way to Start So, yesterday I took the day off from tracking for Fathers day, though I think it would have been okay if I'd just eaten a full meal at dinner instead of snacking all day.

Tracked all of it today, and so far so good.

I also walked/ran 2.5 miles in 33 minutes, and there was a stretch of mostly running that was apparently about 1.5 miles in 9 minutes. This after a week of 10-12 minute miles. Apparently I was motivated today. I also did a bunch of cleaning this morning to... Mon, 17 Jun 2013 21:13:55 EST Long Day So, today started with breakfast and a run, then did some stuff around the house, then feel asleep on the chair trying to stay quiet while dad is working 12 hour night shift. Then woke up, made dinner(salad/leftovers), and went to zumba.

In other words, I worked my butt off today. I also signed up at my Zumba place for their Biggest loser contest. This means I have to work out there three times a week for six of the next eight weeks. This will likely prove interesting, but if I ca... Mon, 10 Jun 2013 21:16:45 EST Fun, Crazy, Weekend Well, I haven't been tracking so much lately, or eating right so much, but I haven't been atrocious either, so the weight is still at 150. Yay for Mary.

Went to the doc because the knee was starting to be weird, still just something worth a cortisone shot right now. Trouble is, you're really supposed to leave it alone after one of those and be nice. I did not. I decided instead to work 9 hours, then 5, and walk around the rest of the time. My knee is finally not furious today. <BR... Sun, 9 Jun 2013 23:09:02 EST The Week in Review Well, I thought this week was going to be a trainwreck, since my Mensie decided to sabotage any attempt at healthy eating. Drinking water didn't even help. Then I went on the scale to check on Saturday morning before I'd done too much, sure enough, still at 151. YAY!! That means I made it through two weeks of horrible eating without gaining. I didn't lose, but frankly, considering what I've eaten the last two weeks, I was pretty happy with that.

In other news, my knee is now angry... Sun, 26 May 2013 14:40:01 EST Interval Running, Squat Challenge, and Life Well, went on vacation last week, did good eating most of the week, but there's that incoming female cycle that screams nothing but chocolate, and that meant there were some not so hot days too. I did keep up with the running, and the squats challenge that I'm doing, which was good.

Trying to get back to healthy eating this week, which is tough trying to do with a mensie, but not too bad so far. Only had one pack of chocolate covered raisins as a snack. Didn't help that I didn't ge... Mon, 20 May 2013 20:28:26 EST The Week So Far Well, at the end of last week I weighed in at 151.4. It was fantastic. Means I might be down to under 150 before vacation starts on Saturday!! Can't wait to find that out.

In the menatime, life outside of exercise has been absurd and obnoxiously difficult.

There were a few huge, horrible interactions with my mother accusing us of attacking her when we ask a question. Which meant yesterday my sister and I walked around and did some shopping to avoid my total meltdown. THe... Thu, 9 May 2013 22:59:32 EST Why My Dog and I Are NOT Running Buddies I have this problem where I worry more about my animals than I do myself sometimes. So when the overweight female takes the overweight dog for a run, the person that is usually more concerned with not tripping over the uneven sidewalk while doing jogging intervals(myself), was looking at the dog instead. One minute into the run from my house, I found the uneven sidewalk when I wasn't looking, downhill, with all the momentum I had. I landed on my knees, chin, and hand, and scared the living d... Tue, 30 Apr 2013 21:23:48 EST Pre-Vacation Prep So I'm not getting to the absolute minimum by the goal date for vacation, but if I do really well the next two weeks like I plan to, I can get really freaking close.

I'm eating the minimum of my calories, and doing Zumba and starting running again, and making sure what I eat is good for me, with plenty of protein and carbs to keep me going. So far it's been going pretty good. I've been doing the eating part for about four days now, added the exercise for three of those days, and t... Mon, 29 Apr 2013 22:02:26 EST Detox Trial Run So, I found a detox that wasn't absurd and ridiculous, but still focused on healthy eating, so I'm trying this after three weeks of bread and soup and stupid food to help my body refocus on what real food should taste like.

The detox consists of a fruit and milk shake in the morning(with some peanut butter), then greens with protien for lunch and dinner. Repeat the whole thing on day two. Now, it does not limit the amount of greens on these two days, and says 4 oz of lean protien. ... Tue, 23 Apr 2013 18:00:56 EST UnWelcome to Spring I made it through Holy Week and got down to 154, which was fantastic. Then the weather started warming up and these things called allergies decided to try and ruin my life. This is why I sometimes really greatly dislike the Midwest and wish to immediately move far away.

Now, to be fair, this is mostly because I grew up on the east coast and know those plants and creatures, they do not anger my allergies in this way. We move to the Midwest and I have allergies almost as bad as my si... Thu, 18 Apr 2013 22:36:02 EST Halfway Through Holy Week So today we maxed out becuase Mother nature finally won the chcolate war, and I didn't eat much of anything until dinnertime, so I snacked with reckless abandon after. But I burned a bunch more calories, so I hope it levels out.

The rest of the week has been going pretty good. Monday was it's usual self, but I usually eat too much then,, and same as today, I did a lot more exercise to try and compensate. Yesterday I ate a ton of salad and lean meat, and I wasn't hungry most of the ... Wed, 27 Mar 2013 23:30:45 EST Holy Week Salad Marathon So I'm finally on track again, and probably lost more than I've recorded, but I used a different scale so I don't want to put the information down and it be wrong, especially since I didn't go on the usual scale I use today, and I try to do it before breakfast.

In the meantime, it's Holy Week! And as mostly practicing Catholics(we suck at constantly practicing), we've decided to participate. Which means nothing but eating lean meats, and in our case, Salads. Except Holy Days, then... Mon, 25 Mar 2013 14:07:03 EST Two Weeks of Not So Hot But it's okay, I have at least figured out what the problem is, and it's name is bread. See, bread is good comfort food to most people, my family especially. Sick? Bread and soup. Good comfort food dinner? Must have bread in it. Yeah, so when I got sick, I ate crackers and slept. Then I woke up better wanting nothing but carbs.....

Anyone else see the problem with that? Yep. I don't think I've gained any that I could see on the scale, but I haven't weighed in this week. I am, howe... Fri, 22 Mar 2013 20:00:12 EST My Body and I.... are having a disagreement. Can't really exercise because of the knee, so I track calories and work gently on it. Finally gett better, I start exercising again, I get sinus infection. I get over sinus infection(lose a few pounds from the sinus infection), and I get back into exercising. I get on a steady stream, start incorporating my circuit training, and now I have something attacking my intestines that randomly appeared after lunch.

It had better exit quickly, because I am not a... Wed, 6 Mar 2013 21:33:02 EST Oh Zumba, I missed you Went to Zumba for the first time since the snow harassment and the sick and the many other things. We got a special treat today, in that all three of the Zumba teachers decided to randomly play songs. I say treat, and what I mean is body torture, because every single one of them was doing their favorite songs, and they do not like mellow songs. The calmest intensity was "Gangdam Style" if that gives you an idea. I swear it really was fun.

Then I went to work in the retail job. My b... Sat, 2 Mar 2013 22:42:59 EST Sort of Back on Track A few snow days, so I got some time to actually plan my meals and what I was eating during the day. I went way over yesterday, but I also burned 800 or so calories cleaning a room, bathroom, shoveling a foot of snow off the driveway, and then because I was bored at the end of the day, I went on our elliptical for half an hour. The calorie burn was worth it, but I'll probably not repeat it anytime soon.

Either way, at least I'm burning off more than I need to eat. As long as I can ... Fri, 22 Feb 2013 21:53:14 EST Some Good, Some Bad, Some Refiguring The Good news, my liver is fine, my kidney has a benign cyst. Did my mother have a mini heart attack for two weeks? Oh yes. Something about one daughter getting cancer and the other getting a free midget lump that gives her half a heart attack a day. She went to the doctor today and reminded her of that and the doc felt so bad she apologized. Our doc forgot temporarily how nuerotic my mother was.

Other good news: I'm starting to get calls for subbing. YAY! Mostly elementary right ... Tue, 19 Feb 2013 21:46:33 EST Ugh Well, knee was moody this morning, but I took off the athletic tape and it cooled off a little. No more tape on the grumpy knee. Got a physical with the blood tests to check that out yesterday. Blood results came back, and my liver function check came back slightly high. So, Ultrasound on probably Friday, since my doc is out of the office tomorrow, so next day they'll be able to communicate with everyone is then.

In other news, I did lose 5 pounds in the month of January. YAY! Mor... Wed, 30 Jan 2013 23:32:09 EST Success!! In some parts. So I went back to the ortho, and we figured out the knee problem.... burstitis in my hamstring joint. Cortizone shot usually fixes it, you want one? Oh why yes, I would. So now when I go back to physical therapy I get to tell them that it was helping because that's how we found the problem, and now we just get to finish as a means of making sure I don't have any other habits that make it angry.

I also know some other injection that can help with the problem, I just have to ask my d... Sun, 27 Jan 2013 17:44:16 EST Riddle Deciphered I have figured out the hungry equation. I eat like a hobbit most days, and, well, frankly, eating larger meals wasn't quite doing it, even with lots of water between. So today, I ate a bunch of midget meals and I'm not hungry!!!

I was a little higher in calorie but that's because one of said mini meals was a hot dog worth lots of calories, and flank steak that I got really excited eating. Note to self: Chef Meg sparkrecipes can make one want to eat much more than the serving. But... Mon, 21 Jan 2013 22:16:24 EST Watered Mary I got my water in today. All of it before 2pm. Which meant I spent the rest of today going to the nearest restroom. But, I got my water in!

Still on the high side calorie wise, but my knee didn't hurt nearly as much today, and I got a little walking around done. Not much, but roaming a store is useful for something at least. That does explain why I'm still a bit hungry though. I probably burned more calories then I realized. No complaints here.

Maybe tomorrow after chu... Sat, 19 Jan 2013 20:14:58 EST Some Awesome Title Here Well yesterday sucked food wise, because I forgot to eat and drink water most of the day, so I overate at the end of the day. That sucked. Today was a little high, but still in range, and I got in my eight glasses for the day. Or so my bladder has insisted. Wouldn't be so high but I did eat more carbs than protien today, and the lemon cake at the end of the day ruined me. Mom had to have cake and lemon was what we had. Lemon cake always wins. Always. It's as bad as chocolate.

Also... Fri, 18 Jan 2013 20:38:33 EST Backtrack Well, after a week and a half of having to accept that the knee pain is back, I am getting re-referred to the orthopedic and on pain meds. And have knee pain and gas to make me nauseated and grumpy. Well fine then.

Luckily, I didn't actually gain any more weight when I was mad and eating chocolate chip cookies and junk food with reckless abandon. Now I'm back to tracking my food, and thankfully today I did not go far from my minimum. Now I just have to stay that way for two more ho... Wed, 16 Jan 2013 21:07:15 EST Recovery Day Today was post-rest day back to the workout. My hamstrings were a lot tighter than anticipated, as were some calf muscles. Going to have to do some yoga/pilates to get those a bit more stretched out before my other workout, it seems.

Did better on calories today, stayed within range, though a little higher since I didn't drink as much water. Do feel better overall though than yesterday's hungry attacks. Also got a lot of quilting done.

My textbook is supposed to arrive... Mon, 7 Jan 2013 22:48:59 EST Rest Day Today is my day to rest, and because I haven't been doing much but reading and watching football, my knee has been intermittenly harassing me today. It's been doing that when I stop moving, which means there will probably be a few more poke, prods, and tricks in physical therapy Tuesday. In the meantime there will probably be stretching after this.

Also got some homework done today. Well, what homework I could get done. The rest requires the book that is on order. Supposed to get ... Sun, 6 Jan 2013 18:47:10 EST Reset I'm actually quite familiar with Sparkpeople. I had an account here before that I wasn't using much until about two days ago. Then I decided that wasn't cutting it, going on old bits of information, and to restart everything. Why? Funny you should ask.

I gained a good bit of weight that I had lost. Plus some. Mostly because I started falling apart, then it got worse. First injury was my stupidity, second was my health. Then I started stress eating.

So, this is me pushing...
