NOLALADY123's SparkPeople Blog NOLALADY123's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Can we get real about girl scout cookies And the insidious pressure to support your coworkers kids, god love them? And the holidays, cultural events involving rich and decadent food... the overwhelming reality that the public has not embraced a belief in sugar addiction. Give me a carrot. It feels good to get that off my chest, and took care of the craving too. Homeless shelter down the street will be getting some cookies? Tue, 5 Jan 2016 22:08:27 EST The Joy of Sriracha Now that I am diabetic, I'm having to deal with my bad self on a higher level, I am rediscovering spices and trying my best to eliminate the poisons that I have so long put into my body. I have to remember to ask myself do I want it or do I need it. If I need it I can make it taste good. Faith and will... Sun, 23 Jun 2013 15:00:33 EST on track Its been a few days and I'm feeling on track. I've cut down on the carve and I'm pushing up the veggies. The goal is to have my sugar down by August. I'm pretty motivated and I have an entire month before I start night classes again. If I can't get myself in balance how can I even think about getting a better job in human services. I'm learning to put myself first and its hard. Mon, 28 May 2012 11:42:08 EST My rather large hump. So I just finished my 6 day course of predisone and I am hoping that my appetite will subside. I have probably gained three pounds (real, not water) in the last six days and now its time to get back into a routine and declutter my life. I ordered a pet stroller to take my neurotic cat out on the town. We'll see if that helps me get some excersize, too. Wish me luck. Wed, 14 Mar 2012 10:44:12 EST Post Mardi Gras- back in the saddle Mardi Gras was not that bad. I don't drink so no upset there. I did have some unhealthy food, but I paid the price for that and I won't be doing that until the next evil holiday. I'm looking forward to the next forty days of healthy living. To that end I did all of my excercising this morning, including the bicycle. I think I am going to give up TV for lent. I'm going to take a queue from my friends of the Catholic faith and just do it. Anyway, it makes me lazy and I could be doing s... Wed, 22 Feb 2012 15:21:07 EST Continuing the good work in the new year I have two goals in the New Year; one is to try to always do things that I will be proud of and the other is to take risks.

This year was a bit hard for me because of two hip surgeries. I did not gain any weight, but I did not loose any either. What I did loose was muscle and i need to get that back. Hopefully, stating this will help me move in the right direction.

Good luck to everyone else on this path. Fri, 30 Dec 2011 12:04:59 EST Health insurance boogie A small discount is being provided to employees if they have a health screening. I have mine scheduled in two weeks and need to get my blood pressure down. So I am activley trying to eat right and excercise (more excercise than eat right at this point). 5 veggies a day is somewhat difficult with a busy schedule of work and school and the frozen dinner category does not really support this without massive gobs of cheese.

My goal is to start bringing salads for lunch and only going... Wed, 14 Sep 2011 12:33:19 EST From Vegan to Vegetarian I just could not do the Vegan thing. I missed eggs too much. Anyway, I'm trying to stay to basics and not go covenience unless I'm just too busy with school/work. Just a reality check. I figure If I make sure that I'm eating at least 5 servings of F & V a day I should be good. I will be loging in all my food for the next week and make sure that I meet my very limited goal of 5 F & V each day. One day at a time. Sun, 9 Jan 2011 17:30:23 EST Exploration and Expiration Dates Ok, I did not make the Ginger Tofu. I determined that I have another five days to cook the tofu and that I should concentrate on eating more variety, than just saying pass the tofu.

In keeping with the spirit of exploration I decided to try eating and cooking new totally vegan foods, convenience and the stuff that requires preparation. To start I made a recipe from Dr. Bernard, of course I was not able to follow the directions 100%, because I did not have two cans of beans. So ... Fri, 31 Dec 2010 23:47:10 EST First day, later day mess ups My first day commiting to this is actually going comparitivley well to other attempts that I was not so committed too. I'm being honest about every little thing I put in my mouth. My main problem is that 1)stupid impluse buy- today it was Pfeffernuss and 2) that dinner that never stops at night. Needless to say I ate the entire bag of cookies.

But to give myself props, yes I am a morning person, I ate very well in the a.m. I even went to the theatre and saw the Black Swan (I th...
