I have worn it every day since I got it and I have taken 4,802,375 steps - traveling 2,502 miles and climbed 3,636 flights of stairs! I have worn it while walking, running and hiking. It has been with me through the neighborhood many times in the past 365 days. It has been with me on hikes to Pleasanton Ridge, Fremont Peak, Mt. Diablo, Yosemite and Sequoia National Park. It has been on hikes on the Big Island of Hawaii and walks in Santa C... Mon, 9 Sep 2013 00:03:43 EST 30,000 steps Today I took on a challenge to walk 30,000 steps started by Shelli - MOSTMOM1. I was wondering early on if I was going to make it or not. My husband is going to go hunting in Colorado in October and hasn't been to the shooting range for a while so I thought I would help motivate him to get out there. I told him I would go with him. I was up early this morning, and figured I could get in a short walk before he was ready to leave. He got up and was ready to go at about 9:30. I should have ... Sun, 11 Aug 2013 00:27:08 EST New exercise streak Monday I began a new exercise streak. I do exercise every day in the form of walking. I will on a normal basis walk 4 miles or more each day. On Monday I decided it was time to step it up. I recently saw an episode of Dr Oz that featured Shaun T of Insanity fame. They posted a 15 minute workout on the Dr Oz site, so I decided to give it a try. Boy is that ever a good workout! 15 minutes and my heart rate is way up and I am sweating like crazy! Even though it doesn't seem like you are ... Wed, 3 Apr 2013 15:32:52 EST Hiking Big Sur A friend and I had planned to go to Big Sur yesterday. When we originally planned it the forecast was for a sunny day but as the day got closer the weather was changing. Forecast for rain was coming at noon. We almost backed out. But after a few more text messages decided to go for it! We left home at 9:30 and reached the Big Sur area around 11:30.

We stopped at Bixby Bridge to take a few photos

I... Sun, 6 Jan 2013 09:22:15 EST Silicon Valley Santa Run This afternoon I ran in the inaugural Santa Run created to help provide funds to keep Christmas in the Park going in downtown San Jose. There were about 2,700 Santa's out there!

Here is the view from in front of me

and here is the view from behind me

I had my son and daughter-in-law join me. My son will push my grandson in his stroller. This should be fun! We are all getting long sleeve t shirts and a Santa costume. The organizers want this to be the largest group of Santas running in a race. We did break the record for the largest number of finishers in a timed Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving this year with over 20,000 finishers. This Santa run should be fun!! Wed, 5 Dec 2012 23:06:38 EST Breakfast by candlelight? I woke up early this morning due to the sounds of wind and rain. I looked at the clock to see what time it was, but it was dark. The storm passing through had knocked out the electricity. Fortunately my phone had an alarm set, so I didn't need to worry about the clock radio waking me up in the morning. Well the phone alarm went off as expected and it was still dark. I grabbed a near by flashlight and went into the kitchen and turned on some battery operated candles my mother in law had g... Fri, 30 Nov 2012 15:27:05 EST Holiday Family and fitness I had a great 4 days off from work. On Thursday I participated in the nations largest timed Turkey Trot held in downtown San Jose. There were over 20,000 participants! We all raised over $1.2 million dollars for 3 charities.

After showering my husband and I went to my brother's home for Turkey dinner. I was careful not to overstuff myself. After dinner my son, daughter-in-law and grandson came over for dessert and to celebrate my son and brother's birthdays. After eating some... Tue, 27 Nov 2012 00:48:19 EST My Lost Ring Yesterday when heading off for San Francisco to run the Mermaid 5K, my hand felt weird and when I looked at it, my wedding band was missing. I never take it off, which meant it felt off. I got this wedding band from my husband at Christmas time 8 years ago. This was a few months before our 25 anniversary. At the time I was 20 pounds heavier than I am today. When my hands are cold I can actually shake my hand and the ring will fall off.

I couldn't imagine where my ring would be... Sun, 11 Nov 2012 23:44:13 EST Mermaid San Francisco 5k This morning I was up at 5 to get ready to run another 5k in San Francisco. This one was sponsored by The Mermaid Series. I drove up to meet my daughter-in-law and her friend in Fremont. I got there by 6 and we were delayed a bit getting out of there. Veronica was going to walk rather than run because her back has been bothering her for a week now. I told her she didn't need to go, but she said she was going to do it anyway. My son had to go to work, so we also had to bring my grandson. H... Sun, 11 Nov 2012 01:00:59 EST Inspired by Love On Saturday, May 12 I got up at 5:45 to get ready to run the Mermaid East Bay run in Fremont, California. The 5k was to begin at 9am and I needed to meet up with my daughter in law at 7:15 so that we could park and be ready to run by the time our race started. Traffic tends to get busy around the area where the event was being held and I didn't want to be sitting in the long line waiting when our time came, so I planned on arriving early. We arrived at about 7:45, found a nice parking spot... Mon, 14 May 2012 16:13:13 EST 408k Race to the Row This morning I got up at 5:45 to get ready to run the inaugural 408K Race to the Row. This was the first day of Daylight Savings Time, so it was really still quite early. The race was organized to benefit the Pat Tillman Foundation. Pat Tillman was a San Jose resident to quit a lucrative football career with the Arizona Cardinals to join the US Army. He was killed in Afghanistan in 2004 by friendly fire.

The runners entries raised $10,000 for the foundation.

This w... Sun, 11 Mar 2012 15:22:51 EST Completed 1st go round of Coach Nicole's 28 day Bootcamp DVD I completed my first 28 days of the 28 Day Boot Camp DVD yesterday! I must say I really like the way it is laid out so that their is always variety and 3 levels to work at. Sometimes I am working at Jewel's level, sometimes at Nicole's and sometimes at Linsday's. - I guess even sometimes at my own - I find it hard to keep up with some of the lunges I am not very coordinated (although it is getting better) and I am almost 6' tall, so I find it hard to get down to a good lunge at the same pace ... Mon, 27 Feb 2012 16:19:16 EST Toys for Tots Challenge For the past week I have been participating in a Toys for Tots on line challenge. It was sponsored by - an online fitness tracker. People from all over the world register to this and use various trackers (Runkeeper, Fitbit, Garmin, Foresquare, etc) to earn points for gift cards or discounts on various health or fitness related items. Wed, 21 Dec 2011 01:08:36 EST Mermaid San Francisco run Today I got up at 4:30 to meet up with a friend and my daughter in law to go do a 5k in San Francisco.

This was Michelle's 1st 5k, Veronica's 2nd and my 4th. We arrived at Marina Green in San Francisco at about 7am and checked out the area. At 8am the race began. Michelle would be doing a walk/slow jog and Veronica was going to do her best to run as much as she could. My goal was to complete the 5k... Sat, 12 Nov 2011 23:33:55 EST
